GOING TO MY FIRST HIGH SCHOOL PARTY | Kayla Davis

i will i need to uh my brain is so scattered what should i start with the party is on a beach that just so happens to have like five thrift stores all on the same like streets so since we're already gonna be there we're just gonna go early and it'll be super fun [Applause] hey guys it's kayla and today i'm going to be getting ready for my very first high school party kind of it's it's not an actual high school party but i need a title for the videos to just go with it okay it still kind of counts as a high school party though because it's my track banquet so it's like close enough i wanted to record this process because i have a feeling it's going to be slightly chaotic as i have no idea what i'm supposed to be like dressing for and let me explain myself because at my school i don't know if this is how it is for like most schools i might sound really dumb right now but my cross country and track are like kind of connected because they have the same coach and for our cross country banquet everyone wore ugly christmas sweaters and it wasn't like a super huge deal don't mind harley in the back or anything it was just like a fun like get together and then like they handed out awards and stuff i don't know if it's supposed to be like a fancy thing for track because i know some sports banquets are like super bougie like when i did cheer we all wore like super fancy dresses and like went out and like had that thing but it's also on a beach so like i don't know the dress attire uh and this is how i woke up too it's 10 a.m but it's summer break don't look at my feet in the mirror you weirdo see it's like 9 57 basically 10 a.m i just woke up i'm looking rough this is the fit okay so i need to get dressed even though the bank was not even till like 5 00 p.m i think but i'm getting together with my friend before so i'm gonna start getting dressed and i'll explain the rest later i will i need to uh my brain is so scattered what should i start with would it like norm what do people like normally start with when they get ready should i do hair makeup or like outfits i'll do hair and makeup first because i kind of want to stay in my pjs so i need to find those as well but let me get to the bathroom and we can do hair and makeup together and i can explain the rest of the situation of this total real high school party that i'm going to okay don't mind this i really need to clean my bathroom but that's a tomorrow problem i really need to invest in a tripod as well this is not ideal that's kind of good it is currently resting on some hand moisturizer and some thumbtacks and my mascara bottle i wish i could show you the setup but then i'd have to set up the camera again and i don't really feel like doing that i'm gonna start with makeup since my hair is already up maybe i should put my hair up again though because it's kind of falling out should i try and speedrun this bun hang on speed run no ah no i keep missing the hair tie that's pretty fast now i can actually do makeup and stop getting distracted but before this party i'm meeting up with my friend because the party is on a beach that just so happens to have like five thrift stores all on the same like streets so if we wanted to go thrifting now would be like the perfect time because we've gone thrifting oh shoot i forgot primer let's put some cleanser on this if we wanted to go thrifting now it'd be like the perfect time because this beach is like kind of far it's not super far it's like 20 minutes but i don't want to drive 20 minutes just to go thrifting so since we're already gonna be there we're just gonna go early and go thrifting and then we'll go to this party and it'll be super fun and then we also think that there might be acai bowls there and acai bowls are just yum so i just got a bunch of stuff in my ipsy but i just steal everything um i got this like rose gold like face shimmer stuff so i'm gonna use that so that i look glowy and cool and i rub this in i still need to find my rings oh there they are i'm look at all my rings okay i could do a ring tour now that i have them i went to the flea market a couple days ago with the same friend that i'm going thrifting with today into this epic high school party i got a bunch of like cool rings this one's my favorite because it has like a creepy woman on it it's kind of lit and then i got this one which has like a butterfly and it's like all bedazzled and then this one is a flower with a pearl in the middle and then this one's just like diamonds and it's black all of them are like black and silver themed because i got them specifically for halloween which is in like five months but i'm dead set on being a vampire for halloween and if i don't want to spend a hundred dollars on my costume i might as well just start thrifting everything now and then by the time halloween comes i'll be like set up wait did i understand being a vampire i don't know if i skipped that part or not but all of that jewelry is so that i look like a very old vampire because i feel like all that jewelry looks kind of old i don't know like victorian era that's probably not correct at all but that's what we're going with okay i think i'm good on this i put like half a bottle on my face already primer which i never used but i just got some in my ipsy so i'm gonna use it okay don't judge my technique on this because i don't have one that's pretty good oh this kind of smells good i'm gonna do concealer now which i just got this i was using like a three-year-old concealer before which is probably not very good for my face shoot i have to wipe this off again i'm trying to like get back into skincare kind of because before i was just washing my face and then that was it and i want to see what my skin would look like if i actually tried so i have this like caffeine eye cream that i got a while ago and i already used most of it but there's still some left so i'm gonna use it it's supposed to get rid of like the under eye bags i also cut it open because it was like out and i don't want to buy another one because i'm lazy and i don't want to drive all the way to sephora i look awake already right i also had a red bull this morning so just trying to set up the morning that you guys missed okay so that we're all cut up now i can actually start my makeup i also don't know what kind of makeup i want to do i'll probably just do like my basic makeup that i always do because it's like a school event so i don't really care that much but it's also kind of fun to like go all out like last night i did green eyeshadow with like a winged liner which i've never done before and it looked kind of good not gonna lie i was brushing my teeth last night and i knocked this over and it landed directly on my toe and it's like a heavy like ceramic bottle glass i don't know you can like hear it like it's heavy and it hurt oh my god it was awful concealer is on so i don't look dead but vote what we think i should do should i do like a green eyeshadow again or like something bold or like my natural makeup your opinions will definitely have an outcome on what i do i also don't really know most of the people that are going to this party party because the track team is like divided up based on your like event obviously and i did throws this year it was just more fun for me this year so i did throws and throws is like a whole separate thing from like sprints and like long jump and all that so there's only like five people on the throws team and there's like a bunch more that are like on the whole track team so i'm not super close with a lot of people on the team some of them i know from cross country which i did last year this year i kind of quit that but whatever this year was my like lazy year i guess maybe i'll try harder next year we shall see i'm still very excited because the throws team or like the people that i know on the throws team are epic so i will have lots of fun hopefully i also don't even know what's happening at this party track party because i i just i'm not informed so if it's like the cross country one it'll be fun because at the cross country one there's like a bunch of food and that was epic and then there was just like awards and stuff so it was pretty chill do i even need this this is like my foundation i'll put on some anyways where's my like brush what the heck am i out of foundation please okay whatever i'm gonna try anyways no that's good it's kind of showing up oh shoot i just raised my head's like out of the shot i don't know where else i need it beautyblender i wish i could play music on youtube that'd be so epic okay i feel like that's a good like base layer i didn't really put anything on my eyes hang on let me do that actually i think i'll just do something natural i don't know i just don't feel like being bold today i guess i did that yesterday give me a break t i've been saying t he a lot lately and gerd i don't really know why i guess i'm not complaining it's fine like t.e i'll usually say while i'm like recording something so if i'm like talking to my friends on snapchat to finish the video i'll be like t bye but if i'm like in person or if i'm like complaining about something i'll be like gur that's really annoying i don't know why now i'm going to use my blush i have milk to look like a beauty youtuber makeup influencer this is my milk blush that i lost the cap to but it's fine because it never like touches anything nasty it just sits up like this oh like like this i almost dropped it but it didn't so i'm just gonna put that on to make it look like i go outside and i like got sunburned or something i am very excited to get tan this summer because track always like track and cross country always give me awful tan lines so right now i have like an awful shorts tan line and i have a tank top tan line for my uniform for meets but i'm hoping to fix it this summer i'm gonna be a junior next year quite scary i'm not gonna lie so we're not gonna mention that but like it's so odd that i'm already going into junior year of high school because this last like year and a half did not feel real since we were all like at home and not actually in school so i feel like it went by really fast i'm excited to go back to school next year because i'm pretty sure it's supposed to be like back to normal since everyone's vaccinated i don't know how much i'm allowed to say on youtube not gonna lie i've heard some weird things very excited for next year okay blush is done um don't need bronzer no i'm gonna skip that are people gonna be swimming it's on a beach and it's gonna be like 80 degrees out today if this like turns out really bad then i guess we'll know it wasn't dry enough oh i promised that was satire i don't say that i sometimes i say things and people don't know that i'm joking so i'm just gonna clarify that is very dark maybe it'll like lighten up throughout the day like maybe it'll like wipe off i still have like two hours two and a half hours until anyone's gonna see so i feel like it's fine oh i saw or like i came up with this trick so like give myself fake freckles okay so i take like this fluffy brush and then i take my hair protectant spray for like when i are heat protected spray and i kind of spray the brush and then i jab it on my hand and it makes the little bristles all spiky and then you like dip it in a bronzer and then you can dip it on your face and it'll look like you have freckles which i already kind of have freckles but i want more so we're going to give myself more honestly all of my makeup could just like not be here if i actually went outside but i have gone back into my minecraft phase where i just play minecraft for hours on end so that is not gonna be happening anytime soon sorry my minecraft world is kind of looking pretty good though not gonna lie like i started when the new update came out because i just wanted to check it out and then i got addicted waiting for my face to be over again so i can like go outside okay let's see i will put on the freckles now this is the before let me put this on integral part of the makeup routine look at me using big vocab words what do we think it looks exactly the same tbh but in my head it looks different so it's all about confidence yeah what do i need i need mascara i also i bought fake lashes because i wanted to feel extra and bougie but they're like the magnetic ones and it has magnetic liner that comes with it sorry i need to breathe i'm talking too fast the magnetic liner doesn't work so i tried using them but they don't stick to the liner so i have to go out and get lash glue but i just haven't done that yet so i can't use fake lashes so we're just gonna use mascara that was a long tangent that didn't need to happen but it did so oh well i feel like my lashes are like not even that short in the first place tbh so i don't need that much that's before and after i don't know it looks alright brush out my eyebrows and then my makeup will be done i feel like the makeup looks weird right now but once i have my hair done it just like it fits okay you just have to wait it's a trust the process kind of thing yeah yeah okay that one looks good oh wait maybe i should use the like spray okay sure and then i'll brush them out again okay there we go so now i can do hair um let me take this out of the bun don't mind how it looks once it's down it's quite fluffy actually it's not that bad i'm still gonna like curl it but normally i feel like it's fluffier when i've had it in a bun for that long that's also something that i'm really excited to go back to school for this is like a tangent again but freshman year was when i like first started straining and curling my own hair so it looked really bad just like very obviously did not know what i was doing so everyone would be like what did you do to your hair like i vividly remember having a conversation in my first period of class and this girl was like did you straighten your own hair i was like yeah does it look good she was like oh okay and i was like yeah i just kind of like take big chunks and like flat iron it she's like you're not supposed to do that so thank you to that girl because after that i actually started straining my hair correctly i also kind of like forget sometimes that i did go to school this past year but like only for like a couple weeks so people probably already did see my hair improvement no one probably just cared i still ended the semester with a's and b's but i feel like my grades definitely would have been better if i stayed in person it's just easier for me to learn in person i feel like by now normally i would have been like i'll just talk to you when i finish and i would have ended the clip but i have like a lot to say today i don't really know why i feel like i have a lot of energy that just like transferred from me watching emma chamberlain i never really had an emma chamberlain phase and then just recently i've been like binging them while i uh while i play minecraft so i feel like a lot of her energy is just transferred into me right now which is kind of epic not gonna lie should i do a tutorial on how to curl my hair i feel like i've done this before but maybe you guys didn't see that video okay we're doing it again so i do two different ways that i can curl it so if it's in a spot where it's like harder to reach kind of i'll flip the straightener upside down whatever way is comfortable i'll go the other way and then i clamp onto it and then i flip it and just like pull it down and then it curls that's the curl i just did or i'll show this on the other side this one kind of took me a bit to learn because i'm incompetent and you go under with your hair you go under the straining iron and then over the top and then through the middle and then you just pull down and i'll show yeah see i like both of those methods and they work pretty well for me so if you want to try there you go i've also been trying to post on tick tock more because i used to be super active on tick tock and i would post like every day or like twice a day sometimes and then i just kind of stopped i don't really know why but i lost like 50 000 followers because i stopped posting for like a month so i'm trying to start posting again so if you want to job interview um ever since then i have not gotten another job interview but that's fine it's it's all right i might as well enjoy my summer but i have been trying i got rejected from sprouts which are a pea sprouts i would have been a great member what the heck hashtag cancel sprouts for not hiring me i also applied for a bunch of trader joe's in my area but we'll see how that goes um my friend's older sister said it took her three months to find a job so if it takes me that long i'm not getting a summer job unfortunately but i really want a summer job because i feel like it would just give me something to do like normally i don't have a lot of stuff going on tbh maybe i should just start filming more but i need like ideas drop some comments or some video ideas on my latest tick tock whenever this goes out i wish i had youtube comments bro youtube comments are like the best every time they let me have my comments i get so hyped like even if i'm like out hanging out with friends i will like sit there and read all of the comments okay loki i kind of ran out of things to say so i'm gonna finish and then i will come back and we can pick out a fit okay i am finished with my hair i might need to like brush it out or something so it's a little less poofy um i also added more to my face i added like lip gloss and stuff but i'm done with my face now i need to pick out an outfit and i still have no idea what the like dress code is and i don't think anyone else does either so i was gonna just wear shorts and a tank top hang on let me turn on like a light so it's like a little bit brighter in here maybe i have like these ones which are just like levi's denim shorts but i feel like also a skirt could be like a safe move just because it could be casual or it could be like kind of fancy i don't really know what this skirt this is like a longer longer skirt but it's black oh i feel like i need something like summery i'm definitely overthinking this it's really not that big of a deal yeah like this one and then i could just wear my like nike pro shorts under it that could be fun okay i'll put that in the pile of like options okay so i have those or i could always go with jeans but i feel like jeans on a beach is kind of odd oh my gosh it's gonna be like in the 80s okay i'll wear a tank top or a t-shirt and i'll just bring a hoodie too so that way i could like put it over if it gets cold here let me show you the tripod yeah my pig piggy bank okay i just did my laundry so i have more options since nothing is really dirty oh i could wear this this is like it's just like a basic gray tank top i'll put that in the mix i have this but then i look really blue because both of my short or skirt options are blue and it's low cut so i probably wouldn't be very comfortable it's like spaghetti strap but i don't think they can put a dress coat on if we're at a beach this one could be nice with my like denim short option it's like a brown tank top this one it does have a playboy bunny on it which might not be very school appropriate all added to the mix just in case harley davidson it's like a it's kind of long but it could work i will show you each option and then we can collectively decide which one is the best except i will not be able to hear your opinions so if i picked the one that you didn't like sorry in advance all right this is option one i feel like this is already a good pick hang on i'm gonna stand on my chair so that you can get the full fit so it's this the blue flowy skirt with like a basic gray tank top i really need to get a tripod because this angle is not great but i kind of like this one and then i have my like rings on that are like silver and black which honestly doesn't really match but i don't care that much don't mind the mess on the floor i don't know i feel like this is a good pick for so far so this gets a pretty good score but like this way and then i'd probably just wear like basic tennis shoes with this but i'm gonna give this one an 8 out of 10. next we've got the black tank top which um is basically it's like the same exact outfit but with black instead of gray which i don't like as much because i feel like the gray matched the flowers in the skirt better so this one's getting a 4 out of 10. even though it matches the jewelry better for the top it just doesn't really go with this skirt very well so moving on all right next we've got gray tank top with the like bunny logo which matches pretty well i'm not gonna lie but i just feel like i would be semi uncomfortable wearing this shirt um with a bunch of people from my school i don't know but i also wore this on like the last day of track so i just i i'm not i'm not feeling the vibes with this one i'm gonna give this one a four out of ten as well okay so this is harley davidson shirt that i just got i haven't worn this shirt out yet so it might be a good choice like it's first time out and then with the shorts obviously i kind of like this one not gonna lie i'll give it an 8 out of 10 as well so it's tied with the gray tank top and blue skirt next fit i have the denim shorts with this like brown tank top which i also really like but i don't know i feel like i like the harley davidson ones better or maybe like they're tied i don't know i'm very indecisive this is a little too much for me i might have to ask opinions from my friends and see which one is the best i like this one the harley davidson one and the blue skirt outfit the fit is decided i'm wearing the harley davidson shirt and then i also put on this like butterfly necklace and then i have my other jewelry on so this is the completed look um thank you for joining me on this journey of trying to figure out what to wear hopefully it was
