God Hears the Righteous // EP 2 Christian Living with Raul Ries (Proverbs 15:29)

second chronicles 7:14 memorizes verse if my people which are called by my name will humble themselves humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their sins repent from their wicked ways then I God will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sin and heal their land how we need that in the United States of America to God to heal our land we see that God desire repentance in people's hearts and then we also know that God not only loves us he cares for us but he watches over each one of us individually the love that he has for us it's amazing amazing amazing that is just incredible you know the second episode is God hears the righteous you know who's the righteous but first of all to become righteous you got to know Christ as your Lord and Savior how do you do that repent the accepting and then living the Christian life and when you think of righteousness is it's alive that you're doing what is right before the Lord and when I look at the word righteousness I look at a word that has some developing and growing it brings me into holiness into holiness which is a word that says to separate myself to the lordship of Christ and when I separate myself to fellowship of Christ then people can see the Lord in my life work into my life and through my life so maybe you're in that position this morning or this evening and you want to know how to be righteous well I just saw you read your Bible look at the characters in the Bible like Moses like Joshua they're like Paul like Peter all those guys and they were righteous people they started just like you and me but look what God did as a kid to maturity to certainly the Word of God they became righteous in Christ Jesus loving guys [Music] you know I remember especially in the study this morning when we used to go to Costa Mesa Calvary Chapel many many years ago and now they used to have prayer meetings on Saturdays and they had premieres on Thursday nights so when you finish the study on Thursday night you were or the fellowship hall and there would be pastors there where you could pray with them and then you can receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the other gifts that are given to us in the scriptures and I remember how many young people were receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit yesterday we need more of that because the days were living in the times were going through and the things that are happening in our country our nation and around the world is I thought okay Laura what can I share with the people this morning because really in my heart and so I'm gonna speak you from the book of Proverbs chapter 15 verse 29 if you have your Bibles psalms and then proverbs chapter 15 verse 29 to tell the message is God hears the righteous now who are the righteous when he talks about righteous you know we know for sure that Jesus with Nicodemus he told him that he had to be born again of the Holy Spirit in Paul the Apostle we see Peter James John all these guys that accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior and how God began to use them in a powerful way whoever thought that the twelve except the one Judas would ever be used to reach the world for Christ a lot of times you may not know what God has for you you might not know but if you're praying and you're seeking the Lord God will speak to you through his word one of the things being neglected today is prayer praying I don't know if your mother's and father's grandparents pray with your children real important you need to teach your children in these last days but when you teach them you be the example that you're praying be the example from their watching I remember my son's you know praying with them now my grandchildren we have a grandchild right now for the weekend because they ought to retreat and he just blows me away you know before he goes to bed we're getting our knees let's pray he's like this watching to see it what prayed but you know there where he's only two years old he's aware of it you know it's how much more for us that are in our 20s or thirty sixty whatever it is to say you know what I'm gonna spend thing with God he said well I don't have to tell you you're driving that's time you go to lunch that's time breakfast that's time it is so awesome to get up in the morning and to know that I'm going to pray with the father and I'm gonna ask this not to leave me this day and that the Holy Spirit will leave me that day in the book of Proverbs Solomon you know Solomon had a lot of women in his life and because he had all these women and he brought idolatry into Jerusalem they begin to worship all these other gods because the why said he had were heathens and they worship other gods by the time he came to the end of his life you need to read the book of Ecclesiastes he said that everything in life is emptiness everything nothing could satisfy you and there are people seeking so many things in their lives they're empty but they won't admit it they think that this next thing that I buy is gonna bring peace in my life the next thing that I go next trip they go you know I'm gonna look for peace and maybe I'll have peace you know as I go on and there's never never peace it's always always turmoil there's an emptiness in man's heart there's an emptiness that's what brought me to the Lord the emptiness that I had in my life where I was heading and maybe you're here today you don't know where you're heading you know maybe your mom or their husband wife as a Christian and you see this peace in their lives you see that they're reading the Bible they're praying they're doing all these things and they have a lot of love in their life that's a real Christian what you're going to see here in the proper this morning us we have verse 29 let me read it he says the Lord is far from the wicked far away from the wicked but he hears the prayer of the righteous who are the righteous those that have given their hearts to Jesus Christ those who are living a life of submission those are living a life of love these are the people they have had an experience with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior so when you accept Christ not only are we expected to pray but we need to be in fellowship with God prayer is like oxygen you need it otherwise you'll die and I think how many people are dead spiritually they have no life in the spirit because Peter James and John remember they were asked by the Lord out of the 12th for them three to go with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane to pray and we'll see in a moment and when they went to pray three times the Lord came back and they were sleeping and he said couldn't you guys watch for one hour they didn't understand that the Lord brought them along so they could pray because just in a few minutes Judas and five hundred were coming with torches and swords to arrest Jesus and they were gonna be scattered see a lot of times we don't understand why we need to pray a lot of times what kind of you know naive to these things that God has for our lives this ministry was birthed in prayer Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa was birthed in prayer a lot of the ministries were birth in prayer I can remember as I told you before your being in my friend's house that got saved you know and then Dale and all of us used to go Friday nights spend all night in prayer in the morning eat breakfast and fellowship together and that went on and on I remember in West Covina having prayer meetings people coming to prayer it's so awesome here once a month we get together with young people and parents whoever comes and we have a time net of teaching of God's Word at a time of in prayer worship and prayer and it's incredible to see the results in people's lives I think that your life will change you will be a different person your children will see a different person husbands will see a different wife wise will see a different husband but the liars is that we need to pray but he hears the prayer of the righteous you know again what is a righteous person number one they also put their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior every one of us when you know somebody witness to you whatever we all came to that place like Nicodemus asking Christ to come into my life and as I came to Christ I had to learn how to be a Christian the first thing I had to learn was to read the Bible second thing I had to learn prayer and then the steps then I have to witness on three things the word prayer and then witnessing to people and as we begin to develop and to mature in Christ Jesus there are so many other things we can do for Christ so maybe you're here for the first time today you're on Christ maybe you just got saved a couple of weeks to go a couple months ago and the majority here if you've been on the Lord 15 20 30 years you know what I'm talking about the saddest thing for me is to talk to somebody 15-20 years in the Lord and they don't even know how to pray you ask him have you read the Word of God well not really well how can you expect to be a Christian how can you expect to know Christ how can you expect Christ to hear your prayers when any person is living a life of sin fellowship with God is broken broken a lot of times as believers we do sin we're not perfect and you want to make sure that when you sin as fast as you can't get back to fellowship with God but think of all the people they used to go to any church out here wherever it church you went to and they say well you know what I think this Sunday I'm gonna stay home to watch my kids play baseball I think I'll go and go to church next either I'm pretty senior find yourself you're not going to church on Sundays or Wynn sees you're actually caught up with a whole world and your sons and your daughters are watching you backslide not having the Lord man we need to be in the house a little specially these days we're living in these are pretty incredible days if you look at the world today me how many prayer meetings each one of us individually have been attending so that God can speak do people notice your life that your life is becoming spiritual and they're developing and growing because they see Christ in your life they know you're in the church and the church depends on for this church depends on prayer we really do everything you see here in this property everything you see in here it's all by prayer and by faith prayer of faith we don't have a lot of money but we have faith and we have prayer and to me has been such a miracle all these years to see what God has done what he continues to do and what he will continue to do by our prayers praying together in the book of Acts there's something interesting that caught my eye again in the book of Acts chapter 1 remember Jesus had died resurrected and then he told these guys you guys go and wait in Jerusalem and then the Holy Spirit will come forty days he says he passed away then he resurrected ten days later the Holy Spirit came but before it came in acts 1:8 it says this Luke writes but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you that we're upon is very important in the Greek here because you come to Christ he's with you convicting you he's in you when you accept him in your life by faith and then a lot of people misses then he comes upon your life to give you the power over sin over sin not once not twice three you know all the time the Holy Spirit can baptize you every single day so when you go out to the world you'll be in power you'll have the sermon you'll know how to fight against the enemy that is trying to destroy your life destroy your family life but then when that happen when that happened chapter 2 of Acts check whether this is and when the day of Pentecost had come they a hundred and twenty including the mother of Jesus we're in the upper room sitting waiting as Jesus that said he said with one Accord there was unity not this unity in order to pray there has to be unity not this unity because as they were sitting waiting he says and suddenly there came a sound from heaven as a rushing mighty wind and it filled the whole house where they were sitting what they were sitting and then check this out and then there appeared to them divided tongues as of fire has once set upon each one of them and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues as the spirit gave him the utterance they were praising the Lord they were worshipping God in their own language remember the thirty nations in the thirty nations when they saw the baptism of the Holy Spirit and they received it in their own dialect or their own language they begin to praise God - praise God that's what the scripture teaches it says in acts 2:41 - 43 as they were baptized at the end of chapter two it says this after speaking about Jesus because remember Peter got up people were confused what's going on here they're speaking in another language you know praising God and he says look you guys what's happening here right now it was prophesied in the book of Joel chapter 2 way back way back and they were understanding he says and then those who gladly received his word his word Peter were baptized in water and that they about three thousand souls were added to them in one day three thousand people God say reminds you that Jesus people movement 3000 were saved in one day and what happened he says were added to the church and they continued steadfastly in the Apostles doctrine you're doing that here this morning the teaching of God's Word secondly breaking of bread a communion fellowship with one another and then it's this after doctrine and fellowship breaking of bread and then prayers is the last thing that is given to plural and then it says and the fear of God came upon every soul and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles miracles in wonders in the Jesus people movement we used to see a lot of it a lot of miracles and wonders never bringing attention to ourselves in any way but you can see and fellowship in a Calvary Chapel and going to the after loss services people would come there and they would walk out totally healed totally healed and in these days they were living you know if there's a lot of people in need and the church needs to return to their first love we need to return to prayer so the fear of God will be upon the world they can see the fear of God in our lives you know today at as we see so many activities in people's lives are too busy get up in the morning you're getting your car you leave you get home you you know whatever you when you get home but throughout the day you can pray you can pray right I mean you can press your lunchtime you can pray at dinnertime you can pray as you get up in the morning pray to the Lord and then what you're doing is you're starting with prayer and you'll end up with prayer in the evening with prayer and evening and through that you've been reading the Word of God so you're keeping what God says in his word we need to learn from the early church from my own experience I have seen over 40 years over 40 years what God has done here what he did in West Covina started in my home went to the Women's Club from the Women's Club we went over to my compost from my compass 2d we came to the Fox Theatre from the Fox here to the West Covina chapel and then here we never thought we would ever be here ever I remember when rich Snyder from the in and out the owner in and out he we used to know me came in said hey there's a property in Diamond Bar you need to go see it here we'll go see that how much do we have we don't have that much so we came past with Chuck King Greg Laurie myself and Dale so we came here they opened the doors they took us all around the building and I mean this was not even here we build this and so we were walking around and we thought wow you know this is an amazing place we're target is we own all that property and I thought wow Lord how can this happen and Pastor Chuck if you know him he stood up side in the front he looks up at the villa he goes wow he's saying God good I said Chuck good about what and so we came before we got the building every every day we prayed around the building we came to pray the lord of this is your will then show us how you're going to give us this building and then through that the Lord began to open the door here and one day after 16 years you know we had our interests only praying interest they came to us and then they wanted to buy that piece of property which about 12 acres it was the lowest as there a Jewish company so we were not stairs one of the rooms that we were you know talking to each other and and then we said okay we'll sell it and he didn't say go see my lawyers he just shook my hand says alright we'll make a deal and I took that money that God gave us and I wouldn't pay the debt off completely because we wanted to be debt-free and God has been so good to us as we see what he's done in the last forty seven years in ministry 26 years here and then I wonder God what are you gonna do next as people are praying we're praying we want to see people get saved we want to see people come to that place where they see that your hand is upon our lives and if you're going through something pray pray God will be there for you give him time and he'll give you more time if you really mean it in the life of Jesus we see that he was always praying remember at his baptism in Luke 3 21 it says and when all the people were baptized it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized and while he prayed the heavens were opened and the Holy Spirit descended him bodily form like a dove upon him and a voice came from heaven which said you are my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased did you notice the Trinity of God's there the son the Holy Spirit and the father all three the Trinity of God at the baptism of Jesus and then before he selected the apostles he was always pray to looked success now it came to pass in those days that he went out into the mountain to pray he went out to the mountain to pray before he chose the apostles he went the Mount and parade you see before we do anything we gotta pray we gotta pray if you want God's wisdom if he want God's will then he goes on and continued all night praying to God the Father all night and when it was day he called the disciples to himself and from there he chose twelve whom he named apostles Simon which is Peter Andrew his brother James John Philip Bartholomew Matthew Thomas James the son of Alphaeus Simon called Selah Judas the son of James and Judas Iscariot who betrayed him twelve of them three years he gave the twelve an opportunity to see miracles and wonders and to learn into what Jesus all the tampering one of them became a betrayer you know who that is Judas Judas was the banker he carried the funds every time they had money he carried them and the Bible says he was all stealing the funds and Jesus never did anything he wanted to see if there was real repentance but he never repented and then we see Jesus teaching us how to pray in the book of Matthew 690 says in this manner therefore pray our Father in heaven Hallowed be your name your kingdom come your will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us is they our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors and do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever so be it teaching us how to pray and then when he was transfigured remember he went up to the mountain he took on upon his future appearance Peter James and John was with him in Luke 9 28 he says and now it came to pass about eight days after these sayings that he took Peter John and James and went up into a mountain to pray to pray every time to pray and as he prayed the appearance of his face was altered in his robe became wide is glistening they saw him in a second coming at that particular moment and Peter goes on to say this he says Lord shall we build three Tabernacles one for you one for Elijah and one for Moses he said of keeping quiet he opens his not at the wrong time he should have been prayed and then how about following this the Lord's Supper in John 17 if you give that's a really true Lord's Prayer the whole chapter Jesus spoke these words lifted up his eyes to heaven and said father the hour has come glorify your son he was going to the cross that your son also may glorify you as you have given him authority over all flesh that he should give eternal life to as many as you have given him and this is eternal life that they may know you the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent I have glorified you on the earth I have finished the work which you have given me to do and now father glorify me together with yourself with the glory which I had with you before the world was before anything was in existence he was with the father Father Son and Holy Spirit all one that's the kind of prayer we need to not only be seeking for praying how about this one this one touches my lives every time I read it the Garden of Gethsemane here's Jesus already with the disciples getting ready to go to the cross then what does he do he's asking for God's will his asking father it is this as your will I'll do it in meThe 26 36 he says and then Jesus came with him he says to the place called Gethsemane which he brought though all 12 of them Judas already had gone to betray him and then Peter James and John they go with him the rest stay back he says see the here while I go and pray over there and he took with him Peter the two sons of 70 James and John and he began to be sorrowful deeply distressed imagine seeing Jesus distress sorrowful crying weeping deep within himself and then he said to them my soul is exceedingly sorrowful even to death stay here and watch with me all I go there so here is Jesus going over to bridge Peter James and John are here in excelsis pray pray pray pray what does he do he says he went a little further he fell on his face and prayed saying O my father he's praying if it's possible let this cup pass from me nevertheless not as I will but as you will and then he came to the disciples and he found them sleeping instead of praying that reminds me of me a lot of times sailor praying of sleeping and said to Peter Peter what could you not watch with me one hour could you not be alert for one hour watch and pray he keeps repeating watch and pray they didn't understand that Judas and 500 with swords and torches were on their way across the Kidron Valley to rest him to take him to the cross he says I want you praying because what's going to happen if you don't pray I know exactly you're gonna run away you won't be able to actually deal with it and then he said again the second time he went away he prayed saying O my father if this cup cannot pass away from me unless I drink it your will be done your will be done your will be done surely we wondered I realize your will be done in my life Lord train waiting painful what he was going through Peter James and John watching him and watching him you know like any one of us probably got tired of watching him and they went to sleep and when he saw them coming across he says you guys sleep on get your rest and then they woke up Judas comes along and he comes to Jesus and begins to kiss him and the Lord says Judah stop kissing me please don't kiss me anymore don't kiss me anymore and they arrested Jesus and they took him but you see this was the perfect will of the Father father I'll do whatever you want me to do how we need to align ourselves notice were the perfect we love the father with Jesus completely prayer is a divine enigma let me read - I wrote here that marvelous mystery hidden behind the cloud of God's own impotence that cloud behind his uh nipa tents that every one of us not only should know that you'd have nothing beyond the reach of prayer because God Himself is a focus of prayer God Himself I don't know if you've ever read Ian's bounce he writes from prayer my amazing prayer warrior he says this prayer is the contact of a living soul with God in a prayer God's tubes to kiss the mat to bless men and to ate in everything that God can device or men can meet in his life prayer is the contact of a living soul with God in prayer God's tubes to kiss man to bless man and to aid in everything that God can devise or men can actually need in his life basically prayers as simple as actor than any creature can do or perform that's us they can perform prayer it's a divine communion with our Heavenly Father communion fellowship something that we might not even have today that communion that brings you closer the heart of God you hear the heart of God the beating of his heart as he hears the beating of your heart that to me that's real important then when I come to him Lord I don't want to hear my hurry I want to hear your heartbeat what do you want in my life Lord I know I'm a pastor I know that I'm teaching the Word of God but what else you want me to be in my life do you want me to leave Calvary you want me to go hear God I'm always praying to whatever God has I don't want to be locked down in my life I don't want to be locked down I said God whatever you have in my life before I got to see you show me what do you want he asked me for forty some years ago I continued to pray that prayer whatever God wants to do in our lives and we should pray the same prayer because we should I be praying something that we really don't mean you gotta mean it you can't say well you know I changed my mind Lord you know you can't do that with God if you do that you know what he does he uses somebody else how many times God had this tremendous work for someone and they did not want that work and then God says that's what I'll use and then you look back and say man that could have been me that could have been me it's like I told you the illustration of the book in the library you know you're looking for this book somebody gave you the title to it so you go there you look through you know in the shelves and you can't find so you're gonna library say I'm looking for this book and this author well we have it well I couldn't find it so she goes back to her he and gets a little ladder and sees his little book on top of the shelf and so he goes to grab it and all this dust falls away from it the book there hasn't been used God put it on the shelf those are people's lives on the shelf never to be read again people have to read our lives who we are what do we do and that cows in submitting my life to Him imp rain and rain upon him to speak to my life to speak to my heart the requirement that God gets just to pray prayer also is the vision the vision of God in Hebrews 11:1 he says Paul says now faith is the substance of things hoped for but the evidence of things not seen a lot of the things God has done I can't see I've never seen him I've never seen his appearance I just do what he says by reading his word Lord if you're sure I'll do it you know and in prayer also we see beyond ourselves we focus spiritual eyes on who on God's infinite power His infinite power in what in prayer then he has for us and the power of God is so incredible Dunamis power dynamic power that he can give to each one of us remember in the old testament to the guys that prayed in the Old Testament like Jacob Jacobs quite a character when you study Jacob in Genesis 32 24 says and Jacob was left alone and a man wrestled with him until the breaking of the day 20 years before that he actually fought with his brother by taking the birds right away from his brother Esau so he went he lived with his uncle 20 years he got a wife he got all these he's coming back to see his brother he sees his brother is coming with 300 men so he thinks oh man I'm gonna get it from my brother he's gonna kill me for sure so what does he do he leaves his family he goes across a river and he goes there and a men appears unto Him the Lord Jesus Christ and as he's praying he grabs ahold of Jesus it doesn't wanna let go of him and the Lord says Jacob let me go so the Lord says okay I'm gonna change your name from Jacob which means deceiver conniver and when he touches him he became crippled he says your name from now on is gonna call Israel governed by God cover my god does God rule your life you see governor of your life or are you governor of your own life how about Moses a man of Prayer he says thus I proceed myself before the Lord forty days and forty nights I kept prostrating myself because the Lord has said what he would destroy you speaking of those they were in sin Moses went up to the mountain where God was and he says come up here and he got the Ten Commandments he got him and then he's coming down and what happens Aaron his brother decides because the people are saying your brother's not coming back something's happened make us a god sure he takes all the gold he makes a golden calf in their worship in it Joshua and Moses are coming back down the hill and they hear this noise in Josh's what is that noise and when they get down and they see all these people women and children worshiping the golden calf and doing things that she had never done in front of kids and then Moses got so upset he to to take Commandments and broken the righteous pray the righteous pray and then how about Samuel that's another character in chapter 1 the first time you'll remember his mom there could not have a baby in hustla was married to another woman they had all kinds of kids and then they went once a year to the temple so they go to the temple and here's his mother Hannah Hannah standing outside the temple just kind of wandering around and Eli the priest sees her outside and he says man she's drunk so he goes up to her and she says I'm not drunk I'm just the stress in my spirit because I haven't had a child so by that time that year she had a baby his name was Samuel it means God heard my prayer got her my prayer does God hear your prayers that's God hear our prayers here this morning and then how about Elijah he's living on top of this little house the woman lives below and her son in a first king 17 19 and 20 and he said to her here she is with her son in her son dies and she says how can this be so it says and he said to her give me your son so he took him out of her arms and carried him to the upper room where he lived where he was staying and he laid him on his bed and then he cried out to the Lord he's praying to the Lord said oh my lord my god have you also brought tragedy on this widow with whom I Lodge by the killing of her son and what happened to / rossum up the Sun rose up prayer what is the attitude what is our heart when we pray for someone pray for ourselves and how about Daniel another one Daniel the Babylonians went to Israel they destroyed not only Jerusalem but they took the Jewish people and they took him captive to Babylon and the annual was among them and three of his friends so when the king Nebuchadnezzar saw them he said those four guys separated to me I'm gonna put him in here with me so he separates them and Daniel begins to grow in the kingdom and Daniel becomes a warrior of we're because we never can answer had a vision that the actual witches could not interpret for him he called for Daniel and they knew if there's a guy here that interprets dreams so he called Daniel a Daniel came along and said this is what's gonna happen to you because you don't worship God and then we see Daniel in Chapter nine in verses 1 through 20 this long prayer daily prays for the people and in verse 20 God gives and through prayer the future of the church the future where we are today what would happen to Israel what would happen to the Gentiles that's what it says in Daniel 6:10 and now when Daniel knew that the writing that was signed he went home and in this Upper Room with his windows open toward Jerusalem they will always face the East Jerusalem when they were pretty even when you go on a tour to Israel the Jews are in your airplane they all get their little components and to pray and they face the east and they start praying to these he says in this upper room and the window sort of Jerusalem he nailed down on his knees three times a day three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God as was his custom since early day since he was a little boy his parents taught him how to pray are you teaching your children how to pray are you teaching your grandkids on a pray do you pray are you the example that God has given to us and then we know that prayer is not optional it's obligatory it's a must to pray it's a must I wrote this down where there is an absence of prayer there will be an absence of God's power an absence of God's power surely we want God's power or there's frequent where there will be a continuing display of God's power on the line of the instinct and the meant phrase because there is something in prayer as when the Creator gives his creature the power of thirst it is because water exists to meet its thirst and as when he created hunger there is food to correspond to their appetite so while he inclines men to pray it is because prayer has a corresponding blessing connected with it connected with it prayer you want when he says but you beloved building yourselves up in the most holy faith praying in the Holy Spirit praying in the Holy Spirit and then Susanna Wesley she had 19 children with 19 active children including John and Charles the brothers Susanna Wesley still found time every daily daily daily day to pray to pray to pray 19 kids and still found time to pray man may we find time to pray father thank you so much for your love and for these people Lord God which we love Lord Father bless them anoint them use them Lord Jesus Lord just use this church in a mighty powerful way Lord but all these young people biscuits we worship that phone instead of green nothing like having a four but if you worship as shame on you your iPad your computer time that you can spend with the Lord as God will speak to your heart in this way you're not spending all your time in cheating God out of time when you need to be with him instead of being with these electronic things [Music]
