Around 09:00 she says with glimmering eyes ''we are the light and the other people are the darkness'' as her candle blows out. That timing could not have been more perfect.

Very religious people are obsessed with religion in America, a large and growing percentage are agnostic or atheist.

From ~16% in 2007 to ~30% today.

What you're seeing is young people not buying what religion is selling, and older people in political power are freaking out about it.

I have no problem with people believing in religion - until that belief interferes with other people's rights.

Religion has no legitimate place in government.

The more I read, the more I see that it's not an obsession with religion so much as - ironically - virtue signalling. Very few of these people actually live the way they preach.

The way Evangelicals think they can have a personal relationship with God, and so can claim He has a personal stake in Trump's success is the wackest thing. Even among Christians in general this is a radical view.

About 29 minutes in. Some pastor is riding around with the cops preaching at people getting arrested. Is that legal? Honestly I would be pushing it is a privacy violation at the very least. Is he insured if he is out there with the cop? That is a payday for someone waiting to happen

I think the icing on the cake is when the cop states twenty to thirty years ago people respected cops more. Which he then qualifies by saying that back then if people were out of line they got a smack.

Pretty bad right?

Then he almost pulls a sadface when he says legally we can't do that so we just have to talk to them. I would be investigating the shit out of the police force

[Music] here on the streets of washington dc the capital of the united states a woman blesses everyone she passes that's so beautiful god bless you diane has traveled four hours by bus from new york to take part in a somewhat unusual activity praying for the president in front of the white house diane is not a political woman but a public servant who organized this event on facebook i believe that god specifically placed his hand on donald j trump of new york city and said you you're the fighter that i need and you're going to save the soul of this nation that i inspired the founding and god bless them for that [Applause] 70 of americans are christians the majority of them voted for trump but i will say in the name of jesus christ of nazareth that we plea the precious blood of jesus to put a hedge of protection around donald j trump the president of the united states of america to put a hedge of protection around first lady melania and all the socialists be damned and all the evil doers be damned god made this country donald trump is protecting what god created we can get down on their knees and say thank you jesus thank you amen donald trump the republican president has announced that he will run again in 2020. the christians are already mobilizing for his campaign we either fall into darkness and the rest of the world goes with us or we re-elect donald trump in 2020 and save the rest of the world by saving america [Music] despite officially being a secular country with no mention of god in the constitution religion is everywhere in the united states in every hotel room on every dollar bill on the radio on tv thousands of christians take cruises for their vacations on billboards and in political speeches god bless you god bless god bless america in today's society evangelists are the most powerful amongst the christians with almost 90 million of them living in the us alone followers in this protestant sector are also known as born-again christians for the first time in american history they mobilized in their masses to get donald trump elected and they are now gearing up to do the same for the next election [Music] [Applause] i voted for trump i have no question that i believe he's an instrument of god [Music] religion has found its way into every part of society even in law enforcement mark is a pastor hey daniel let's go he is heading out with the local sheriff to preach to the suspects during their arrest we get to pick the sin that we want to do but we don't get to pick the consequence or when it comes i'm so scared evangelists have even created their own bible-themed attractions boldly rewriting the science books to educate their children how old noah was when he entered the ark it's just the body aged differently back then in kentucky a life-size noah's ark has been built along with a museum that supports the theory that the universe was created in just six days attracting tens of thousands of visitors over in georgia armed militia who dream of an entirely christian nation these men are ready to use force if necessary i would die for my god somewhere between heaven and hell immerse yourself in the world of american evangelism god bless america [Music] three hours from washington dc 60 000 people gather on this field in pennsylvania every year for a rather different music festival here the songs are only about one thing [Music] [Applause] [Music] nicknamed the christian woodstock creation festival is the biggest christian music festival in the u.s we love creation it's very godly you can't show up and not cry [Music] most of the festival goers are less than 25. thank you jesus just for these past couple weeks a lot of these young people are here with their church to pray and party this is the case with 18 year old zoe her group have traveled for 17 hours by bus from florida i need a farm here young people are encouraged to have fun but within reason the festival has very strict rules you're not allowed to be drinking or doing drugs or and there is like a dress code like no like really short shorts i don't think yeah spaghetti straps you're not supposed to have cover your stomach okay so ladies you guys having fun you got a little something right here zoe and her group are here with their pastor mike the music that's out there now is is definitely engaging you know the the young people and it's you know it reaches them on a whole new level um you know it gets into their world a little bit and they can understand you know what they're saying they can they can hear the words they got us you know speaking through the artists zoe has only just arrived and before the music has even begun she's made a huge decision she's going to get baptized [Music] i decided to get baptized when i was about 7 years old but i don't remember it and also recently i've kind of walked away from christ now i'm coming back into it and i just want it to be a public declaration of i'm giving my life to christ this is who i am born again christians can be baptized several times zoe has strayed from the path over recent years partying drinking alcohol and taking drugs raise your hand if you're here because you want to be baptized right now where are you at for zoe her second baptism is a rebirth a way for her sins to be forgiven this is the born-again philosophy [Applause] [Music] you desire to be baptized yes please do you believe in jesus as your lord and savior amen ready yes baptize [Music] son and holy spirit [Music] [Applause] [Music] i'm feeling very happy and very excited and i'm glad i did that i do feel like a new person yes [Music] the line of baptisms goes on for hours [Applause] and as night falls [Music] we find zoe and her group amongst the crowd at the concert [Music] [Applause] [Music] break every chain these girls are loyal fans they know all the words to every song it's indescribable i don't know like the echo off the hills and just having so many people around like worshiping god is unlike anything you'll ever experience the crowd is truly overwhelmed if i'm being completely honest i've been through drugs i've been through alcohol nothing compares to what i'm feeling right now despite the mistakes made in their former lives these born-again christians believe they are here to save the world even if this involves denouncing the non-believers so the lighting of the candles is symbolic of how jesus calls us the light of the world so we're bringing light into the dark places of the world as christians the other people are the darkness [Music] there's something for everyone on the main stage the next day bible says that he loved us first from self-righteous boy bands to stylish rappers no big deal is a rising star who preaches god's word through his work but do you want to see him there are also christian metal groups at war with satan [Music] leroy is the lead singer of war of ages he's a medal head and a pastor however he hasn't always been a good christian my story is the fact that i wasn't always a believer my father was a drug dealer leader of a white power supremacy gang i grew up with that kind of storyline in my life i've personally been abused kidnapped i've been through a lot in my life and then as i got older i just want to be a better dude so that's where it started and then molded into christianity like many born-again christians leroy has a difficult past his spiritual rebirth has reinforced his faith especially when expressed through his metal music this is a seven-headed dragon of revelations fighting the archangel michael and then this is the beast coming out of the abyss fighting an angel as well this christian metal group holds all the conventions of the genre the christian music industry is huge every year these songs are played over 170 million times but behind the performance there is always a very clear political message one day every tear is going to be wiped away and there's going to be no more cancer and no more heartache and overstarving children and no more abortion the first controversial issue banning abortion the festival is sponsored by save the storks an anti-abortion non-profit their logo is even plastered across the main stage hi if you guys are waiting to get on the bus you can go ahead and come on anti-abortion campaigners are everywhere at the festival hi everybody yeah so we have just a couple of videos our mission and our dream is to make abortion unthinkable and every day over 1788 of those pregnancies are terminated the non-profit doesn't shy away from strong even shocking symbols they give out three rubber fetuses to the youngest children here's a 20 week old baby another week or two or would be able to live outside the mother you want to hold out your palm of your hand see if it'll fit in yours there you go their method seems to be working i really really want to like take this to each room of the hospital if there's like anybody pregnant and tell them that there's a baby in the stomach and they should be like getting rid of it amongst the other stands at the festival the second major cause is abstinence different rings with bibles verses and stuff on them god says that you shouldn't have sex before marriage even the beer is evangelist at creation festival do you sell beer no we don't we sell root beer what's red beer it's a old-fashioned wild bill soda a normal ticket to the festival costs around ninety dollars with vip tickets reaching up to eight hundred dollars the festival also takes ten percent on all sales made on site with its 1 000 members of staff working voluntarily on top of this the festival holds a huge daily collection to increase its profits and if you're out of cash they also take credit cards i just asked god for a number and that's what he gave me so that's what i'm giving him [Music] the business is clearly highly profitable even though the organizers refuse to reveal their revenue [Music] just a few minutes after this collection god's almighty hand seems to strike the festival site the campsite is completely destroyed some participants aren't fans of the more capitalist side of this event little rain doesn't hurt us i thank you honestly backlash if they don't do what he wants which is not let it be led by money or about money about business that he would take it away from them even in the capital of capitalism church collectors aren't always welcome you are in control of god so you may dare to be paid right now jesus said because he will not have any victory here this weekend this time at this festival anymore father god don't worry i could jump from here or not you are cleaning house young people come from all four corners of the states for the festival all of them have grown up in an extremely religious environment to discover this 100 christian lifestyle we travel to the quaint town of leesburg florida an hour away from orlando [Music] it's 7 a.m here at the copley household here you can sit right here like alex evangelist keith angie and their daughters leila and lexi are having breakfast before heading to school we've always taken the approach with educating our kids to teach them to evaluate all that information through a biblical worldview or through a christian worldview like thousands of teenagers across america fifteen-year-old leila has only known the christian way of life there isn't a single poster or magazine in her bedroom we could only find religious books stacked on her nightstand uh this is the arabic bible because i'm trying to learn arabic so yeah and then this is my old bible from when i was a kid it's all torn apart and then my new bible is in here and i keep it in here because i think it's so special so i love it this is a christian um book by a preacher named francis tran do you have any non-christian books um let's see even at the back of her closet right down here i don't think so she can't find a single one but we have we have them in our around i usually finally layla finds one non-religious novel she heads off with her sister and dad on the school run [Music] and of course religion stays with them at all times even on the radio we actually have christian radio on just about anywhere in the country you can find a christian radio station the copleys cross the town center on their way to school leesburg boasts an almost entirely christian population there are 151 churches for only 22 000 residents hardly surprising given that this is the case in most rural american towns it's impossible to cross the main street without being stopped by christian groups one of the commandments that jesus left with us was that we needed to preach a good news all of them are trying to increase the number of worshipers at their church as the people go by and they see something that they want then we you know talk and introduce the message that we have further down main street some people are becoming even more inventive when spreading god's word like at the god cafe [Music] giant crucifixes posters of jesus even the waiter's t-shirts this is a 100 divine cafe so i've been given a paycheck i've been given this money why not spend it in a place that you know god is present versus a starbucks gary opened this restaurant 12 years ago basically what god wants is to be seen but you know the enemies out there going to and fro so we need to satan donald trump earned 60 percent of his votes here in leesburg with one of them being garys god is using donald trump to change america and get things right i believe he believes in god and i believe he believes in jesus i mean they have bible study in the white house so you know that's the start in the right direction we find some christian bikers hanging out outside the god cafe god bless america far from the traditional bad boy image these bikers are here to bless all local businesses the sales lady accepts enthusiastically lord jesus we're here with uh caitlyn you know that lord we're just asking for safety within her storylord that there's no problems no one comes in and tries to rip her off lord walk off with a lot of jesus bikers bless the town and its inhabitants and even on occasion convert the non-believers we catch up with lila and lexi love you guys just arrived at school this private school belongs to one of the town's largest churches first baptist [Music] the oldest sister lila begins her day with math class [Music] however the teacher doesn't start class with algebra or geometry questions today i have a long drawing as well a long time yeah okay yes just for this weekend in general okay now we're going to practice dearly father thank you for that praying for a good weekend a win at a basketball match here all aspects of daily life are covered by god in the neighboring classroom students are learning the bible by heart they'll do this for one hour every day up until they're seniors mindy is teaching her students that if they don't keep their faith they'll be damned to hell we actually pray for people who are not believers all the time aunts uncles neighbors that we love and we know and we want to pray for them we want to see them in heaven spending the afterlife in hell is a real fear for these kids i feel like hell is something that you should be afraid of and it's kind of like a motivation to strive to be like more godly and christ-like so that you don't go there it's something meant to scare you again at recess it's the bible that dictates how these kids behave especially when it comes to matters of the heart it's a taboo topic for this group they're barely able to open up about it he's successful yeah good job sami this one is not successful i am dating you don't have to bring this out these teenagers are between 15 and 18 years old christian goal is to try and stay away from sexual relations to marriage and i would define those as like any sleeping together i can't think about sleeping together probably include like oral sex in that too yeah yeah and then probably any sort of social media i can't think of an exact word no i'm not saying that i'm saying like it's via social media is it penetration that you're like yes kind of like any sort of penetration sometimes it's it's easier if you have like a friend or a parent go with you on your date so you can avoid like the temptation of sex or like abstinence isn't the only restriction imposed on these teens i've seen like a lot of like our friends um go through like times where they start doing more secular things what's a more secular thing secular things can be as simple as gossiping talking bad about someone else a lot of drinking uh smoking drugs sex all that kind of stuff is against what the bible would say [Music] to instill these christian values into their kids families spend between five thousand and twelve thousand dollars a year depending on which classes they are enrolled in religious organizations like first baptist and its school are exempt from paying taxes here in the united states this particular church is rich and powerful the community boasts 2 500 members and is still recruiting with new believers continuously being baptized during the celebration first academy students walk around for the collection [Music] the copley family are also present as is one of the high school's teachers mandy school social life family and even financial matters all revolve around the church head pastor art has a lot of influence in the community to the people give ten percent of the revenues to the lord's work here yes for sure the leader has to lead the way [Music] thanks to these donations the church has its own hospital a clinic for pregnant women a refuge shelter for men and for women in difficulty a training center for evangelization and even its own shop every possible facility to ensure the members of the community stick with their own people in certain towns faith has even made its way into public institutions it's sunday morning here in louisa a town in virginia pastor of the main church mark o'connor is preparing his sermon [Music] when getting ready for sunday service it's his pistol he grabs instead of his chassis well i'm carrying a gun because part of a pastor's slash chaplain's job is the protection of the flock a spiritual and physical um you know it's it's part of the job and i take it pretty seriously so good morning everybody this armed pastor holds some very conservative and controversial views this says homosexuality is a sin homosexuality is a sin un just like lying just like stealing sex name of sin they're all equal in the eyes of god mark believes there's only one destination for all sinners if you keep down a path you're on you're going to go to hell forever so the choice is simple right who wants to go down there and start cooking now his mission to moralize the population doesn't stop at the altar after the service mark poses his bible in the house of god and closes his church before heading out on an unusual mission riding along with one of the sheriff's patrolmen hey daniel man good to see you yes indeed let's go side by side with law enforcement he preaches to those who have strayed from the righteous path the pastor is on patrol with daniel who is very religious anything in abundance is a sin but they even discuss their own visions of heaven like when we get to heaven that means i'm gonna be walking down the streets of heaven and i'm gonna see like noah as in noah in the ark and i'll say noah what's up man he's gonna say hey mark how you doing as night falls daniel is on high alert it's the holidays here in the states and a lot of young people are taking advantage to head out and enjoy themselves as expected daniel finds himself flagging down a speeding car courtney the driver is only 20 years old and is really stressed [Music] you're really nervous but i'll also smell marijuana see what's up with that daniel immediately handcuffs the young woman who is now panicking am i going to jail when we approached the car there was a very strong smell of marijuana which is illegal in virginia you have the right to remain silent anything you say can will be used against you in court you have the right to enter the pastor what are you pissed at i just don't want to go to jail you should not want to go to jail jail is not a pleasant place mark begins lecturing courtney the young handcuffed woman doesn't really have any other choice but to listen we get to pick the sin that we want to do but we don't get to pick the consequence or when it comes does that make sense i'm so scared i'm so scared daniel finds marijuana in the car and apparently it's a hybrid with the name wedding cakes i don't know if that's sweet or not he decides to remove the handcuffs once courtney has calmed down a bit the more you wiggle worse daniel believes that faith can be the new shock tactic and getting people to follow the law you know 20 30 years ago people respected officers more um they knew that if they got out of line you know he'd say this but they would get smacked legally we can't do that obviously so now we have to we have to talk to people daniel writes up her court summoning mark keeps going with his sermon us finding you here tonight i believe was orchestrated by god so i would say this is god saying hey i love you and i want you to go down a different path now which one are you going to pick i mean this should be a giant wake-up call for you what i would like for you to do is to remember the feeling you had when he put handcuffs on you and you thought about going to jail for real take care of yourself mark and daniel stop three other people that night that that was some skanky weed though man i'll tell you that [Music] a pastor on patrol with the police unusual but not unheard of here in the united states [Music] in other states there are even scientists who give their life to god williamstown is a small peaceful town in kentucky however hundreds of tourists descend onto it every day to visit a surprising museum the creation museum visitors are welcomed with this film denying the big bang and the world's 14 billion year evolution let the earth bring forth grass exhibitions with pseudo-scientific information about how the world its animals and mankind were created by god over a period of six days around six thousand years ago as the bible tells it this school of thought is known as creationism there is absolutely no scientific basis to this story yet 42 percent of americans believe it the museum has hired 10 scientists in an attempt to lend credibility to their theories all hold degrees from universities that are recognized by the state like harvard for example i am taking you all to the through the garden of eden dr gabriela rocha de cavallo haynes has a phd in paleontology and geology scientists here have turned their backs in what they've learned at university instead choosing the bible as evidence to support their theories according to them all living creatures were created on the same day 6 000 years ago every living creature on earth even dinosaurs we can see some dinosaurs and right there we can see adam and eve so they were all together in the same environment she tells this in spite of the fact that 60 million years separate the end of the dinosaurs and the appearance of the first humans creationists are rewriting history particularly with the story of the discovery of lucy the skull of the most well-known australopithecus proof of human evolution when they found the pelvis of lucy they looked and they said it looks like an ape but it it cannot be an ape it has to be human why because they they want it they wanted it to be human and then what they did they took that pelvis to a lab and they reshape it in a human shape the point is when you don't have a christian worldview what kind of commitment do you have with honesty with truth what is life according to gabriella man's evolution is a complete fallacy and conspiracy theory dreamed up by scientists and atheists chose to live their own way these creationist theories are taught in a number of christian schools across the country from a very young age what do you like the most so far dinosaurs according to gabriela man's evolution is in fact a complete fallacy and conspiracy theory dreamed up by scientists and atheists [Music] this is the scene when um adam and eve they sin against god the bible explains that suffering and pain only arrived on earth after the first original sin the museum has made a real house of [ __ ] or cave of sorrows to depict this because because of the sin it brought chaos it brought death so the world is not safe anymore we have wars we have pain as in that picture and i am pregnant now so i can i can i can't understand that the curse of the pain do you feel punished yeah we all feel we all feel punished because of the sin yes because of the sin in our skin nazi concentration camps the 911 attacks drugs this is exactly what would happen for a creationist if one were to stray from god a corridor to scare christians into staying on the righteous path [Music] i get emotional with everything um i just um i mean i believe very strongly about it yeah it's very powerful the imagery the 70 000 square foot museum of evangelization and pseudoscience has attracted more than three and a half million people since it opened in 2007. i think it's awesome and i would love for my grandkids to come see it before they're taught the opposite way why because this is what i believe [Music] the museum is run by a creationist organization called answers in genesis [Music] its directors have gone even further to spread their theories 30 minutes from the museum tourist groups are boarding this bus [Music] they've traveled from hundreds of miles away to visit an out-of-the-ordinary christian tourist attraction [Music] a gigantic noah's ark the bible says that god destroyed almost all life thanks to a rain storm that flooded the entire planet only noah and his family survived along with the animals he had sheltered in his ark this modern half museum half attraction arc tells noah's story this colossal structure measures 500 feet long and 50 feet high weighing over 8 000 tons [Music] [Music] tara and her students have traveled all the way from virginia entrance to the ark costs almost fifty dollars per person [Music] just make sure you don't walk off the family oh that's cool that'd be cool see you all get a picture ready [Music] inside every detail of the story has been painstakingly recreated animals such as bears hippos even dinosaurs in cages the sounds of the water and the animals even noah and his children at work tara teaches creationism in her class this is legal for private schools in the u.s and this tourist attraction is an excellent visual tool to support these theories anybody know how old noah was when he entered the ark 600 years old 600 years old and does anybody know what the bible says about how old he was when they left the ark raise your hand 601. 601 that's right okay why do you think noah lived to be 600 years old i think that it'd be the same way that we live to be you know 80 or 90 years old today it's just the body aged differently back then these christians believe we live for hundreds of years during noah's time nadine inner group have traveled from north carolina i love it because i love it to think in our world that it's pretty wicked right now there's some good christian things i love it nadine is won over she does however have some feedback to pass on to the arks director patrick i wish that the women were dressed a little more decently uh wax figures i think are a little bit i wish it was a little more modest thank you for that we uh we tried to be as authentic as we could these women were a little too naked for nadine's liking terrorist students however have some questions [Music] all the animals it would be like really hard because you got like 1300 animals to be exact and i know like feeding all of them would be really hard all right of course patrick has an explanation so for eight people they didn't have to see every one of those animals every day so we think they probably would have had some automation in the feeding that's why you see the feeding troughs and the different ways to feed the animals that makes sense yes sir okay this huge christian monument has been funded by private investors it cost over 100 million dollars to build but has become a true tourist destination we want to try to draw people in to hear the message and you know quite frankly if you don't make it fun then people probably wouldn't come but christians like to have fun too a huge restaurant [Music] a zip wire even a petting zoo noah's ark is the disneyland of the christian world and it's highly profitable before the arc we were probably a 30 million dollar company and now we're about a 110 million dollar company so the arc has really exploded our ability to reach people that's the real point is that we're able to reach more and more people giant noah's ark everybody look happy music festivals schools museums evangelists will do absolutely anything to keep their faith alive there is however a part of the population who are starting to turn their backs on the lord 23 percent of americans today claim to be nuns that is to say without religion it's a historical record for the us houston texas is an ultra-christian city and it's not easy for the atheists that live there brian is a 28 year old engineer on this sunday morning he won't be heading to church every sunday in church growing up including many wednesday night services as well as some thursday get-togethers with the youth group so it was a big part of my life brian also studied at a christian university but today considers himself a nun an atheist i left religion kind of it was a few events all happening at the same time as i was learning more about science i was starting to have more trouble reconciling it with my faith and i started dating a girl and she was an atheist and finally as you know my faith was getting shaky my best friend came out to me as gay everything i knew about gay people was wrong and at that point i had to kind of step back from church and say you know i think this community is not quite for me anymore in the united states religion creates a way of life a community which atheists are cast out if they choose to give up their faith as a way to combat this exclusion atheists gather together at the same time as sunday mass how are you i'm good how are you [Music] surprisingly this atheist meeting takes place exactly like a church service would [Music] discussions about science instead of god the atheists even crack a little joke today it does feel a lot like a church model i think it's because it's what people like brian seems relaxed but a number of participants refused to be filmed john one of the organizers explains why because of the stigma that's still attached especially in the u.s especially in a place like texas to not being religious and being non-religious is sometimes almost like being gay you you kind of have to come out to your family and people need to do that on their own terms whenever they're ready and so for that reason there's a lot of people that don't haven't even told their families that they're not religious anymore people are now coming out as atheist just as they would gay but christians employ the same punishment to both to go and leave religion is almost kind of like turning your back on your culture it's not just uh going to church it's uh you need to be saved and have jesus in your heart otherwise you're going to hell so bring something to easter please for fear of going to hell many atheists are rejected by their family [Music] brian had a very christian upbringing it broke his mother's heart when he came out as atheist although they still continued to eat lunch together every sunday [Music] hey good to see you elizabeth has just got back from church where she has many happy memories of her son look at your smile getting ready for christmas eve service at church back when he loved jesus elizabeth puts on a brave face she has exceptionally agreed to speak to us about one of the most taboo subjects in the us and one of the most painful for her when you first told me i think we were driving back from his college in illinois i basically cried the whole way while we talked it was really hard to hear i spent a lot of time agonizing over what i could have done differently that maybe you know you didn't spend enough time saying grace before every meal and pray we do pray at bedtime almost all the time he was very much involved with the church he went to a christian college elizabeth's pain is palpable but raising the subject of religion always proves fruitless between this mother and son i don't know how you can study signs and not see that we were divinely created i guess the problem is though that like a lot of imperfect things happen as well god didn't make or create all those bad things and it wasn't until sin entered the world that all these imperfections happened but i didn't eat that apple either so why am i getting punished for it that's why christ had to die for our sins as a scientist brian can't seem to reconcile faith with what he has learned at university his mother shares the fear of all christian parents when their kids turn their back on religion are you scared for friend to go to hell yeah that would be a concern i don't want him to spend eternity and whatever hell is i would sacrifice anything for him to come back to the faith i want it to be in heaven [Music] more and more young people like brian are coming out as atheist the rising number of non-believers is a growing concern for one part of america the country has never been more divided and some are even willing to use force one example is here in mcdonald georgia around 30 minutes from atlanta [Music] chris is a lawyer and family man he is coming back from church this sunday morning with his son ashton [Music] yeah and why is it important to bring your son to church because um you know that's the order uh the water is god country god country family definitely a role model thanks for coming with me i love you chris has organized a big barbecue with friends after the sunday service holy cow god country barbecue that's right ain't nothing more american than those three right there right chris seems like your average american guy however he's also the leader of the biggest christian militia in the u.s everybody on the side y'all ready yes sir okay one two three good assault rifles semi-automatics silencers pistols and bulletproof vests once a month chris and his friends get together for military training so sexy good job baby yeah they are however just ordinary citizens i work at a tire shop i'm a plumber i do hollow metal doors and wood doors i am actually an aircraft mechanic all are convinced their faith and lifestyle is being threatened look after our country lord as our country starts to falter bring us under one nation under god amen amen you know the good book says things are going to get worse before they get better then it would behoove us to be prudent in our preparations so this is a bible camp and boy scouts on steroids the militia is very closely watched by the authorities yes sir there are groups like this in almost every american state we exceptionally had authorization to film them chris however was very suspicious do you think there could be a fight with communism atheism communism they kind of go hand in hand is godless because they will shoot you you know for think speaking freely for you know freedom of thought freedom of religion they will communists will straight up kill you five the group trained in a top secret location all day we weren't allowed to film the area surrounding the training all grounds this is awesome good shooting that was awesome yeah it's a spike's crusader lower a customized weapon with a cross engraved onto it every little detail has been thought out even up to the firing mode selector peace war god wilson this automatic weapon is designed for war in the name of god it's the only one that requires a permit here's the latin side i'll flip it down so you can see it joe got this weapon easily as his background check was perfect a family man working in sales he's even a man of god i'm actually an ordained minister you're a pastor with two different churches i can perform weddings anywhere in the country we fight for our faith every day you know you got the muslims on one side you got a lot of atheists and everybody else on the other hand where do we go [Music] joe is afraid of both muslims and atheists despite georgia being an 80 christian state with minimal immigration his fears have been further fueled by donald trump's presidency i actually do like president trump i voted for president trump never liked obama [Music] chris and his group are so paranoid that they believe they'll be attacked in their front yard they're therefore training in urban guerrilla warfare the worst part one of the worst things about warfare is going to be you know room clearing um a lot of casualties but uh you know with the violence of action and uh and a team that as uh you know well-oiled machine then uh you know we'll we'll take the bad guys out i would die for my faith i would die for uh for my uh for my uh for my god [Music] [Music] all of the bullets they are shooting are real chris and his militia members fear a world taken over by atheists however they have the upper hand as in the us 55 percent of americans pray every day compared to 12 in france so if church and state are separate in the united states god and america are still very much connected [Music] [Music]
