Ohio High School is under attack you guys after a door at the school was decorated with a white entrance and a colored entrance poster during Black History Month now many parents including Jennifer buried the mother of a biracial student thought the poster was inappropriate with very saying the decoration made her child feel ashamed of who she is the sign has since been removed however according to the New York Post the school is defending the decoration saying that the poster was taken out of context and that it was meant to show how far we've come in society while acknowledging that we need to do more mm money good I got money for that hit'em hey G annum it's important to note that I'm a black girl is the one who biracial oh yeah what I thought oh yeah yeah blacker was the one who decided to do the project right so she kind of had a vision for it and the thing is is people took pictures of the poster when it wasn't finished so she said that it was supposed to be like a journey so that was just the first part of it then she was going to have a broken heart then a fixed heart and then Martin Luther King jr. on on on the door to actually just tell the story of the journey of how America where America's yeah his his how far we've come yet that all sounds nice yeah who approved it I mean what Peter approved is a thought it's just do regular decorations with Martin Luther King Francis complete it because and plate is up I'm like cam what may be the intent well how about we not recreate what happened in those days I'll say come on dick not I need to be recreated when is Christmas they put up Christmas trees right we got to put up the black and white fountain that's what I'm saying it's just let's teach black history instead of making props of it that's what I said I've recreated that make you feel like it puts you in a very uncomfortable very and possibly a confused state because that other student was confused and because it wasn't finished you know which I don't know how long it have been staying up there I thought you needed a visual project yeah but wait Andy tell me am I wrong and as a parent how old is your son 16 okay so he's in high school yes these are high school students this was in high school I feel some type of way about feeling that a six-year-old will be confused and I'm gonna explain why I feel like club you taught what 16 that he felt ashamed of being black or because of you know her heritage and her culture that women have more concern than anything that at 16 years old as parents we are not you know building a foundation that is strong enough that even if you saw something like that that should it rattle you or shake your foundation of being proud of who you are I think I agree with you I'm not going to be on poster and be like oh I'm ashamed of being Latino no way not things like okay no what I it was a biracial girl who was just confused because she saw just white and she saw just she ditch one she didn't know which Oh seein as a whole other conversation and so I probably had talks with her parents saying that you are both yeah so when she saw it she really you know she was kind of like you was that's why it girl you talk about getting your girl so that's perfect now we go take the whole scenario in general no bad agrarian factory ever again yeah and that's why we should just teach it we didn't got to put a props and decorations yeah I feel ya but I will say I think it was a teachable moment and I think if you feel a teachable moment for that school so I hope that they do that because now you have mixed culture true and just to piggyback off what you just said it definitely was a teachable moment because if those students felt uncomfortable just by looking at that door you imagine what those people went through because they live that Sagan a real day it was a lot is that and you don't want to relive that not at all at all you know but hopefully it's a very teachable moment I mean I know my mom used to talk about how it was hurtful because she grew up in Alabama Wow it was like it you know we are so blessed that things are progressing because back then you know they couldn't even eat if they took a road trip they couldn't eat a certain places they would have to try to bring their own sandwiches they couldn't stop to use the restroom they have to stop on the side of the road so this is nothing to play with it yeah this is serious and again it's helpful it is still hurtful yeah this is day so do not play when it comes to black history you know I think what they do in fact someone like my mother old I don't believe I'm saying it have her come and talk to them but you know she's 75 it might take three hours for her to get in her story no but they have real speakers come in and talk about well they're having some real easy for us to forget you know that this is like a really dark time and waiting without our to go you go ahead no we know that you might like her mother who are here that yeah that's oh yeah we see like the first black president and people go why y'all making a big it's because my mother never thought she would live to see the first black president know when you're growing up and you see in black and white fountains that tells you how progressive our country is our country is great and we are doing just fine let's just keep keep citizens all loving itself read about that stuff yeah we don't really know yet right - yeah you hear someone else's story or even at people have to locate it yes [Applause]
