this is Twin Cities adventures and today I am out in the woods hunting the giant puffball mushroom I'm gonna find one identify it cook it up and eat it for dinner tonight so let's do this together and I think I see something right behind me in the woods let's take a closer look there it is the puff ball some of them are round some of them are oblong some are slightly irregular so how do you know what's what I'm gonna tell you let's pick this let's cut it open and see what's inside of it first of all let me just pop it off the ground OOP just popped a chunk off of it okay there is the root of it sticking into the ground and I just manhandled it a little bit I can tell you already that it is a puff ball all right here's what I'm gonna use my fishing filet knife and I'm just gonna take these are two chunks that I accidentally already broke off and I'll just put those aside and let's lay this right in half sounds like a squeegee and check that out it's like pure mozzarella cheese or it looks like a solid marshmallow giant one so that is nice and dense that is a yummy giant puff ball give that a smell it smells absolutely amazing so I'm gonna take this home clean it up and then cut it up and then we're gonna cook this up you know this is like a little sack it's like a nylon sack that I got with a sleeping bag that I bought at one point in time and it's a perfect little sack for bringing mushrooms home so I'll just put these pieces right inside there and that way they're not going to be smashed in my backpack right here so I'll just throw that over my shoulder and continue our hunt for more mushrooms all right they brought this home and I've had it soaking in here to get all the bugs off and a bit of the dirt off so then next thing I'm gonna do is bring my mushroom up on the cutting board and I'm gonna cut that up and dice that up some of these big slices I'll cut a couple steaks up and I'm gonna grill one vegan steak on the grill and I'm gonna sautee the rest up okay just cutting all the brown stuff off and now it's like a t-bone steak I'm gonna put a little bit of extra virgin olive oil one pinch of pepper and a pinch of salt so we'll put that on the grill and I have a cube here that I cut up so what I'm gonna do here is I'm gonna dice this up cook that on the stovetop so let's cut that up first and then it looks like mozzarella cheese doesn't it so one puffball mushroom could easily feed like eight people you can probably do steaks for like eight to ten people out of one big puff ball also another thing you can do is you can cut these instead of cutting the steak like a t-bone steak and then about an inch thick you could cut that 1/2 inch thick and use that as a pizza crust base just put your sauce on it and then your cheese in your toppings there you have not vegan look if you're using cheese but vegetarian pizza now what I'll do next is just drizzle a bunch of olive oil on this give that a mix yeah I just transfer that over to the skillet and I've got my giant puffball mushroom cubed up in there with some olive oil I'm gonna add a little bit of pepper some salt and some rosemary so we'll just heat that up and pretty much saute that up kind of like you're cooking up tofu another gettin pretty close so I'm gonna put a little dash of cayenne pepper on there give it a little bit of heat and then I'll give that a couple flips and see how it's looking kinda looks like milky also after you pan-fried no Pete that's done and that's it pan-fried giant puffball mushroom I would say that that looks like a combination of either no key fried chicken or I don't know huh fried giant mushroom so I'm gonna take a bite of that and give it a taste here goes mmm that is so good you know what I think I'd like to do with that that would really go nice on a pizza that would really go nice or with an actual steak sorry vegetarians it would go good with steak or even in a pot roast maybe pour it over the top that'd be good well anyhow that's diced up or cubed up giant puff balls sauteed and now I'm gonna show you a quick clip of the t-bone shaped sized puff ball that I just did up on the grill also right now okay look at that looks like a t-bone steak but it's not it's a mushroom steak thanks grill marks on there it looks like a t-bone steak kinda or a t-bone chicken steak so cutter looks like chicken or a mushroom from the side view you could probably make this as thick as you want depends how much crunchy edge you want and how much mushroom e-center you want I did mine kind of thin enough for it wouldn't be too much squishy Center so I'll give that a little taste test now here goes oh that is so good it's kind of like portobello mushrooms it tastes kind of charred a little bit from the grill I put the olive oil salt and pepper on so it takes out a little bit of that flavor it is amazing I'm going to eat this whole thing right now so if you ever wondered what it was like to eat a giant push puffball mushroom just do it thanks for watching you
