What I'll share with you today is another typing job where we just need to convert PDFs and images from the clients into text. This is also what we call image-to-text transcription. Yes, there are clients who seek freelancers who can help them when it comes to converting their faxes, handwritten notes, PDF files, receipts scanned copies of files, images or even paperback books to word or any other text format. There are clients who usually write things down when it comes to business or when managing different stuff. And most often, they have no time to digitize those information. So they hire someone who can do that for them. I will show you sample tasks of converting PDF or image to text so you'll have an idea of how to do this online job. For example, we have task #1 convert this photo or image of a receipt to text. We will use either Microsoft Word or Google Docs to manually type the details from this receipt. I went ahead and arranged my computer setup so the receipt will show on this side and the MS Word on the other side Our main task here is to type in exactly what's on this image and we'll type it here on the document. For example, we need to include the asterisks. Then we'll put "Receipt" here. Let's type in all the information we can see here from the receipt the client gave us. then you'll need to save this Microsoft Word or document file. And you'll need to send this to the client. In this case, I copied everything as is. I assumed that the client wants to convert everything from the image. Another type of document or image that the client may ask you to convert is an excerpt of a book or some part of a book. Say for instance, the client sent you this part of a book and you were instructed to type this and convert this image or photo to text. What you need to do is to literally type every word you can see on this photo from the book and that's what you're going to send to the client. Say for example we have typed everything and we copied the same exact format. We need to save this as a text file and once saved, you can send this output to your client. There you go! The tool commonly used for this job is either Microsoft Word or Google Docs or any platform or applications similar to those. You will type the words or the information you see from the PDF or image exactly as you see them. If there are errors, you also need to copy those unless the client instructed you to correct grammatical errors or correct the spelling. That's the time you need to make changes on the content you're going to type. For the requirements, this won't require any experience. You just need your typing skill. It is much better if you have an average to fast typing speed. Attention to details. You need to give attention to each word and information you are typing. Ability to follow instructions. You need to follow client instructions on what things he'd like to do or any changes on those images or PDFs he/she'll ask you to convert. Willingness to do revisions. Once you have sent your output to the client there are times the client will ask you to revise it or do it again especially if there are certain errors or changes that he'd like to implement. Maybe 2-3 revisions are okay. You also need research skills sometimes. There are times that a client would ask you to type in handwritten notes. There are parts of the note that you might not understand. you need to research about those information depending on the topic of the content you need to convert. You need a laptop or computer for this job. Phone may work but it's really hard to use a phone for this type of job. But if you can do it, you can use your phone. Though it's really recommended to use a laptop or a PC. Of course, you need an internet connection. And you need access to MS Word or Google Docs. How much can you earn here for image to text transcription or PDF to text job? In this online job, the rate ranges from $1-$3 per page. There are also clients who pay per hour which is about $3-$4 per hour. Say for example, the client asked you to convert a total of 100 pages. Then you were offered $2 per page. For that 100 pages, you can get a total of $200 for your salary. For another example, assume you got a client with an hourly rate then you were offered $3 per hour. Say for example, you worked for a total of 60 hours, you can get $180 salary for that duration of time. That would still depend on the client but most of the time these jobs are paid per page, per output or per project. For the payment method, it can be through PayPal, Payoneer, Wise or bank transfer. Depending on the platform you'll use and depending on what the client prefers. For the platforms, I want to show you some freelancing portals and marketplaces where you can get this kind of jobs and sell this kind of service. To start with, you can sell your services at Fiverr.com. We have a video about Fiverr on how to create your account and how to create gigs or how you can sell your services. For example this time, services in converting images or PDF to text. You'll find that in this video. Link is on the description and pinned comment. I just wanted to show you some of the freelancers here on Fiverr who offer PDF or image to text transcription services. Let's use this one. He has a 5-star rating and 364 jobs done so far. You can see here that he can transcribe your document/PDF/image to text in 24 hours. What you'll do here is sell your services on Fiverr. The clients will see these services and this is the marketplace they'll use to purchase your services. For instance, this freelancer offers three packages. Basic, Standard, and Premium. For $5, the client can purchase this service wherein he can convert up to 10 pages. Then for up to 30 pages for $10. And up to 50 pages for $30. We also have freelancer.com. This is another freelancing portal. You can create an account here. It's free! Here, you can type keywords like retyping, convert, convert pdf to text, convert image to text image to text transcription. Those are the keywords you can use to look for these kinds of jobs. Let's use the keyword retyping. The available jobs for this type of work you can apply for will be displayed here. Third on our list, we have Upwork. This is the same with freelancer.com which is also a freelancing portal. Let's try to find jobs about converting image to text. Let's use the keyword "convert image to text". Look at this one, "PDF or image convert to word file". There are also jobs like this here on Upwork. Another one, we have GoTranscript. You will see here on their website that they offer image to text transcription services. This page I am showing you now is the page where the clients can purchase this service. If you will apply as a transcriptionist or image-to-text transcriptionist with GoTranscript you should not apply using this page. If you want to apply, you need to scroll down to the bottom of the page. And then under "For Transcriptionists" you need to click "Work". This is where you can apply for a job. The last one, we have peopleperhour.com It's another freelance marketplace where you can offer your services and look for available projects you can do. Let's use the keyword PDF to text. You will see here that there are freelancers who also offer the same services which is PDF conversion. You can also use other keywords to look for this kind of job here on peopleperhour.com. What to expect in this type of online job I shared with you now? To be honest, it's not a stable or consistent job opportunity. If you have noticed, there are only a few jobs from the search results for this kind of offer. There are only a few of these jobs available. There are also scammers in this type of online job. To avoid these scammers, make sure not to pay any security fees or any fees a client might ask. The reason why we're looking for work is for us to earn money not to spend money just to have a job. Anything that requires service fees, make sure to decline or disregard those offers. There are also offers that are too good to be true. Say for example, for 50 pages, you can be paid a thousand dollars. Then if you accept the offer, there are too many links that will be sent to you. Let's also practice awareness of these links we are getting from clients. Especially if the links look suspicious. And if the offers are too good to be true, make sure to decline those too or disregard them. And move on to the next client. I already mentioned this earlier. But another expectation is to do revisions depending on the client request. You can also give the client a heads up that for this type of project, you can only do this number of revisions. That way, they are also aware. These jobs and projects are not long-term and these are not full-time opportunities. Sometimes, it will just be a one-time service because the client just needed help doing that. It can also be a project-basis or it can be part-time depending on the client that you'll get. That's it!
