hey y'all so happy saturday and you can see i'm already in full swing into working on some jelly printing backgrounds i'm you guys liked that the technique um the webbing and using the spray dyes and mists and stuff on the plate and many of you had questions about alternative things that you can use i know a lot of you can't get the paddy pockets i mean you can get it in europe but it's like the shipping is just so much so i thought i was going to do some with it for those of you who've been able to get it and then i was going to do some just with the sprayed backgrounds because i was going to do these backgrounds for my january printable since so many of you can't get the patty pockets or you know it's just cost prohibitive so i thought if i did a lot of backgrounds if we did some together so you guys would get some inspiration you also um we could just play with techniques and then you know the january printables will have a lot of those webbing type of backgrounds on there so if you want to have some to use in your collaging and all that kind of stuff you'll have some so i was working on that and i thought well i wanted to get the video on so that we could work together i'm going to work with you know last time i used a lot of the paper artsy and the fresco finish love love love these you know that but we've used those so i may mix those in a little bit but i thought i would try to try it with some paints that we haven't used so that you guys would have some options so one of the other paints that i really love that are matte and give that really nice matte finish are the blick matte acrylics i've been using these for a really long time and i'm telling you and i've i really have kind of gone through and gotten some of what i think are some of the like really nice colors that are earthy and work nicely so i'm going to use a lot of the of the blick matte acrylics but also there are other lines like i know like you can get at michael's or hobby lobby let me see if i can pull some out real quick i have some of them too like the chalk paints and i've used let me see if i can find any in here you can get chalk paints as well i don't know why i don't see any right here my little stash close up this one yeah okay so this is a chalk plate paint the folk art home decor um chalk it says these work beautifully let me see if i have a couple more of those i think i have those in a in a few colors let's see if i can find them here real quick okay yeah here's a gray chalk as well so i wanted to use some different paints that are easy to get just run out to their stores for those of you who live in other countries if you can't get some of the ones i'm having i thought if i use different ones you can see just about any chalk paint that you can get your hands on is going to work really nicely so we work with the blick we'll work with this folk art then we'll we'll work with the tim holtz distress we did some of those but i'm going to use a few of the seth after die sprays and then i have these i've had forever they're the the tattered angels shimmer mist and they're just like alcohol shimmer ink things i just thought i would use different ones so you guys could see just about any spray ink dye shimmer mist anything you get your hands on is going to work so i just said let's work with different products let's just do different things and see what you know what the takeaway is all righty so just have a few backgrounds going here so let's keep on going um just working with a lot of different combinations let me just i'll go right straight off let's just do this gray i haven't shaken it yet so we're making our background so we can come back and then just do um the webbing as a secondary thing okay that's a nice gray okay so you know with this process we're just allowing the colors that were underneath there to be picked up so we're putting one solid color down but we're always getting more in the that pickup good see that's a nice color um just torn up a little bit and also what i like to do is with the seth after this gold he has it's a gold um love this color sometimes i just spritz it on the plate and uh and then just kind of roll it out so that what you know whatever layer i'm pulling i get like this one has like a lot of shimmer in it i don't know if you can see it but you just get a really subtle um shimmer with it so let's do this one i haven't opened this one yet let's just get it open real quick this is kind of like a a violet yeah it's um it's called lavender this gray right here is called chateau the gray i just used in this brand make sure there's no thing on there seal okay alrighty shake it a bit so we're just gonna pull some backgrounds together using some of these colors i thought if i did a lot of different colors you know you could see what they do and uh that way when you go to work with yours i have an idea of what colors you like and then that way also i wanted a variety to the colors it would be in the pack okay [Applause] so glad you guys love the book from last week you guys know i love making books so glad you had a lot of fun with this and when by the time you see this video would have already been christmas and uh those who celebrate christmas and it's been just the holidays in general if you had some time off or spend time with family i hope it's all going well and you're enjoying all of that time together oh this is really pretty with that layer of gold too you can see that shimmer on there see that it's really nice that that lavender is a really nice color okay i'm going to put down some one of my favorite which is the blix celadon i love love love love this color i use it a lot these are all matte so these are all going to be matte paints or chalk paints because you know i want to get that sort of fresco look so i don't want the paints to be shiny i got a lot of little bits and pieces on there that's why i'm getting those extra marks but it just adds to the background for the way we're using it if i weren't doing them like this i would clean all that up but i want as much texture as we can get okay see i love this green see how it's just a pretty really nice color it's got a little bit of that purple mixed in um i'm gonna do this beige i'm putting a good amount on the plate because first of all for some reason my plate seems like it's really dry um probably just not a lot of humidity in the air and also i'm going to try to get some decent coverage on the first pull can't ever get enough jelly printing right i never ever ever ever get tired of it oh my goodness oh that looks good with that celadon background too oh boy getting a lot of good stuff off the plate there cool okay so going through the colors together so that was so far we've done beige celadon chateau lavender let's go for this sage blue is nice it's really interesting it's going to be mixed with this um this uh beige because it's going to be a layer there but that's what we're doing we're trying to get sort of these mixed backgrounds so okay the blick has some really nice colors in their matte acrylics and you know you can order blick online so that's the other nice thing about it is that if you don't have a blick near you you can definitely order them online especially within the united states now once again those of you guys are in europe and stuff just look around in your in your craft stores or go on your online websites and see what and just go to matte paints or frescos however they may describe them and that's what you're looking for that looks good that sage blue is really quite a nice color i think i'm gonna mix it in with a little bit of this gray see what we do there these backgrounds are really drying nicely love it okay alrighty i really like working on this nine by 12 plate because see how you can get your whole page down so you can pick up you know like the whole paper a whole eight and a half by 11 can get printed i really like that slightly larger plate makes a difference if you're wondering what size plate i'm using that looks good cool okay i like it with that green clean it off on there let's spritz just a little bit more of the uh that gold shimmer because it's subtle so it'll just kind of mix in with what we got going here all righty now let's go to [Music] this okay i did sage blue right let's do the warm gray you know what now i'm gonna grab this our heavy cream right now for this background that i have down there let's do that because that'll that'll do a nice job with so that's a paper artsy for those of you i hate when i get that circle in the middle like that um that's the paper artsy heavy cream fresco seth after get those at sethafter.com [Music] i used those in the in the first video where we did this technique so you guys can go back and look at that video also back is getting off it's okay though if you don't want your back to get messed up you know just put a sheet down when you go to rub especially on the larger plate like this because you're going to have that that bit on the side oh this looks good love it nice oh a lot of paint on my hand there okay so now this blue light is nice it's oh i'm at the bottom of it so it comes out really weird it's kind of gotten a little thick but i'm telling you it's a beautiful color it's called blue light see how it's like really but it still still does just fine on the jelly plate it's really pretty color okay a few more backgrounds how are we doing 15 minutes okay a few more backgrounds and then we'll go on to the if you're new to my channel this first time you're watching me and you're liking what you see here lots of new folks have been coming to hang out make sure that you subscribe and hit that bell notifications because you will not get the videos otherwise but they come in what are you doing they're whining for it yes the puppy um but i do them every saturday and also make sure to like the video if you like it please hit the like button it always helps to push the video out so others see it because i'm always hearing people say oh i i uh don't didn't know that you were around my goodness you have so many videos i'm binging on you where have you been and it's all about when you guys say you like something um then youtube says oh okay and then they push it out you know it's like one of those kind of things we're going to do warm gray so the more you like any videos mine or anyone's who channels that you like it it really helps that channel um and it helps other people that that like the same things that we like find those same things so it's a strange little you know set up but that's how it's set up so so this is um warm gray you want to get out buddy my dog he was sleeping now he's ready to get out of the room here let me let him out um but we're gonna get this pool first you're gonna have to wait buddy jelly plate so this is the warm gray with some of that blue mixed in see a nice color really a nice color there okay alrighty so it seems like what did i oh um okay i think we've got a good amount of backgrounds here let's just pull i'm gonna pull this white this is the dolly riley and the dollar roundy roney i'll never get it right in the white this is a really inexpensive paint from um i mean i find it at walmart it's not a matte per se it's not a matte at all but because it's not like a really it's just an inexpensive paint it doesn't seem to have like a ton of acrylic binders in there so like when i pull it on it really does have kind of a matte finish to it um especially if you've been working on a plate and you have some other mats down i find when they mix in so that's another inexpensive paint that you can get they do a really nice pink also i love i'll get my hands on it those are the two colors i use the most is the white and this pink it's called portrait pink so you can also use that i find i have good success with those two colors when it comes to this technique so it has some of that background color in it which we love let's put this pink down this is called portrait pink it's nice okay alrighty so you know with this technique just get all your backgrounds done just have that getting them all done that way when you go to we start the other part of the process you know you can just kind of keep on going and building up see this is like a really nice pink to me it's kind of like old world pink i love it it just works in well with other colors around the edges uh all that stuff is so good okay let me get some more white another white [Music] a brayer's got a lot of stuff on it a lot of bits and pieces of [Music] of the cracked paint from around the edges there so that's where i'm getting those little strange marks but we're gonna be working on top of it so it really won't matter looks good love it let's get it we got a few more basic whites with some let's spray a little bit of this in here again just gives like a shimmer [Music] alrighty [Applause] okay so let's get on to the next part of the process we're halfway through our time about 22 minutes that's good so we got quite a bit of backgrounds done and i went through a number of different colors for you guys so you could see what some of the different colors do and you can kind of make a decision about what you know like which ones you'd like to get and work with so i need to pull i need to get the rest of this off i shouldn't have put that on there so let's pull one more i'm going to use choose a heavy cream okay remember the plate has to be well for those of you for those of you who've seen this um this bit of the technique when we did the jelly to finished art so it wasn't a full jelly session that's why i thought i would do this since so many of you guys liked it but let's just do a full session where we're just making backgrounds and making the um doing that technique we know that the plate has to be clean so we're going to get all of the paint off of it so that when we start using the other products it's going to have that surface so it bubbles up all righty oh yum it looks good put that down and let it dry so let's just look we're going to let these dry some more because those were the ones we just pulled let's go to some of the first ones okay so we have white the grace just some really nice mixture so i'll sort of figure out which try i try not to go too dark some of these might be a little on the dark side but we'll still get the technique because start with these um because we just want everything to show up kind of get it going with these so let's get our patty pockets stuff really didn't mean to stick the brush down in there that far let me get that off alrighty um so i'm going to use this this green one here let's get the gathered twigs and i'm just going to do some tattered rose just kind of keep it subtle all righty oh yes now also the more of the um the products you have down there from patty's product to the link for all these will be below the video um to this the sprays the more pattern the more the webbing you get oh boy that looks good wowzer wowzer look at that i love it let's put these down so they can start drying wow that really looks good okay i'm getting excited because i still have some product on here let's put a little bit more down okay so let's keep myself organized here we go to this gray um so let's use seth after's coffee and let's use some of the the gold see what we get here now sets are a die um so it definitely is permanent oh look at that let's grab that quick see what it looks like against this gray background okay oh yes winner winner you cannot go wrong with this process look at that wow and with that gray behind it that's just oh gorgeous a little bit of shimmer in there so all those old shimmer misters you guys have have at it okay i'm gonna put um some more and so that was seth i used the coffee right so let's take and use his he has oh this honey let's just see what the honey does i like to put a couple of colors together let's use a little bit of that coffee too something dark so you can see just putting making sure you have a nice amount on here really does cause all that wicking to happen and then you get full coverage too on your page well these look good i'm gonna make good backgrounds wow i think my camera cut off right when i was pulling that off so this is what it's looking like that's really good and see as it dries we just get all of that really that detail is just crazy show you the first one as it's drying see how when it dries into the chalk it's like the chalk absorbs it so you just really get this really neat pattern but a lot of that color just gets absorbed so it's just beautiful and subtle oh i love it okay so now we have a bit on here [Music] let me just see if i um i have this shimmer mist i've had these only forever so they have a little bit of stuff on there let's just see like i'm not even going to rub that in i'm just going to put it down so if you guys have these that this was a product that was out a few years back the shimmer mist but any kind of you know we all had these alcohol inks and shimmer mists and all that just go through your stash and see what you have if it's in a bottle it's got color and it sprays pull it out now this is nice and subtle but oh beautiful see so it's more subtle but really gorgeous we're going to have some good backgrounds boy those are going to really um so get another batch here let's keep going so that the plate is a little bit dry let's just take some of this press this this distressed let me find some lighter colors though because i'm gonna do a few without um let's use this one this one will use a few without patties background so that if you can't get her stuff at least so let's use tattered rose and tattered rose and let's use some tea dot no let's get some contrast tattered rose and we'll use some of seth's coffee just see what happens and then let's just kind of mix them a little bit just to get a little bit of that you know action on the plate let's just see how this does wow oh wow oh i like it it's a whole different kind of effect but see how it just bled right into the paints because the chalk is down there that's why this reminds me of like plaster walls like i mean look this is a wall that could be in venice right look at that she could just be right in venice it would be a pretty wallpaper maybe with some kind like baroque pattern on top of it real subtle though like real subtle and kind of cracked and oh gorgeous so that's kind of what you're getting when you just let me use a i'll use a white too when you're using this glimmer mist is in the green so let's put a little bit of that down come my sprays go out to the side funny does it happen to you guys i'll put some gold and let's use some bundled twix let's see let's mix it up a little bit i think it looks thinks it looks a little more interesting when it's mixed up then if you just see those colors all kind of blotted there like that i don't know that's my opinion let's just see and what's nice about these stains and stuff is that it fills in all the white spots on the on the on the print that why that's why i really wasn't worried about the little different holes and gaps oh my goodness look at this this looks like fortuney oh my goodness doesn't it let me just get let me just flip this over just to get a little bit of that i don't like that sort of webbing thing that happens okay there we go would you look at that okay what color did we use oh my goodness so we used the glimmer mist we used the gathered twigs and we used the gold wow wow wow that is just phenomenal look at that just it's like a beautiful background we could just go right collaging on that oh boy getting excited now that's without those i'm doing these without paddy's um product too so you know you see it's a different look but yet it's just still gorgeous we can't complain so let's do you know i have a tea dye yeah let's do seth has his tea so let's put some of that down and let's put let's do the gold so i'm going to do it on this blue and let's do some gather twig let's see how this does so this is right on here none of the paddy stuff so you see how it's it you know it bubbles up kind of quickly so you kind of want to work sort of fast but it's given us another technique so it's all good i wanted to just do that because i know i got a lot of questions so many of you reached out you loved it you're trying to find it some people just said oh whoa the shipping is too much to europe i just thought well let's do these again because i needed to do them anyhow so oh gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous sometimes when i get that little puddling that sort of looks like it's got a pull line in it i don't really like that so i just boy these are fabulous i have to say myself look at this okay i'll so we're gonna do a little assessment but if you can't get anything else definitely get seth after's gold mine for sure definitely get gather twigs and then some kind of green like i'm using this shimmer mist let's use his bundle sage and see how it happens um and then some kind of brown like the tea or the coffee oh this was honey this was the coffee which was darker that honey was nice so if you're just looking for a few colors i think browns this gold for sure gathered twig is a brown green and then or some kind of green green and i think with the colors that we're using wow i was going to say i could have gone through all of those backgrounds yet okay here we have some more right here so let's use let's get some more patties on the plate now this product does go far get a lot in here okay so i'm going to use bundle sage which is one of my favs a little more this gold mine got to have that and then let's use some gathered twig now let's do let's try doing that on on a white background okay you get more of the webbing versus the bubbles but it's all nice just two different looks using similar products oh wow look at that when this dries it's gonna be really like they they come up strong but they dry so subtle [Applause] oh my goodness that's going to be good i love it we want some papers that we want some of them to have some drama right let's see what do i want with this one let's let's do up tattered rose and use some of the shimmer mist this green is cool if it could stop coming out sideways i think i get sprayed up more than the plate okay wow this is nice colors these chalk plates are the best to use because if you use like an acrylic you know just like that has a lot of shine to it these paints are not the these um background i mean the the stains are not going to absorb into them look at this wow they're it's not going to absorb into them the same way it's just going to lay on the surface and look kind of shiny well what we're getting is color that's absorbing into i'm just going to get this picked up on here and then probably do some more to okay that's pretty that's pretty oh my goodness it's kind of i don't know if you can see it on the side angle see how that it's like really subtle that's pretty i'll leave that like that it won't photograph well but i'll be able to use it in my stuff just putting the um the uh see with these okay so let's go back to using some of patties on that one i want to use this i'm gonna use that honey again on seth's let's get a good amount on here okay so um honey and some gold and let's use some gathered twig okay okay let's grab this want to get a lot of drama on this piece so they dry they just dry so beautifully i'm telling you this just reminds me i feel like i'm in venice and fortuney's studio just coming up with backgrounds because these are insane wow look at that it almost looks like um a zebra pattern doesn't it down the middle there with the with the dotting and the spotting off that's staying just like that just let that dry i don't want to do anything different to that one wow i'll show you how like this one dried this is a second one we pulled see how they dry they just dry so they're still like they're they're impressive but they're not shiny there's they're still matte you get the glimmer it still has this beautiful sort of integrated almost like silk screen like it's been screen printed or something okay let's keep going so i have enough on there let me get some tattered rose this one i'm just since i rolled it and it was a little bit of the patty stain still on there oh wow see how it slid around got a lot of product just see what that tattered rose looks like without rolling it out how are we doing okay we're about 30 about 45 in we're almost done oh boy love it these colors are just insane sometime i use other papers to kind of blot it oh wow still got a little extra there but this is beautiful beautiful wow i like what that did okay so here still enough on here i'm just going to go ahead and finish picking it up with this one this is going to be nice too my under paper this is the kind of stuff that i do well you know the book that we made this is exactly how that happens wow see there was a lot on there these are just gorgeous wow um so let's get some more of the patty stains down so this is how i make like all these under papers that i work on these get um once i'm kind of got to the point that they're just you know like this one will be coming off because it's not camera worthy anymore because it's like messy looking for my videos so um let me use some tea dye i'll use a little bit of the gathered twig so then what i do is i'll normally um go ahead and then rust stain or you know eco stain them using um coffee tea or different dye pigments you know i can use like any of the um the powdered dye kind of pigments like for fabric and stuff like that just mix a little bit of that up use that for staining so i do it outside though and i stain them up and then i end up with those really neat patterns that then i use back into books and stuff whoa would you look at this talking about drama i'ma let that dry just like that doesn't that look like an exotic animal like that would be the back the middle like it's back fur and the spotting oh boy and i'm a lover of leopard to me leopards you know the new black like always like you could put leopard on with anything okay put a little bit more down okay let's get some kind of do that pink paper so we're going to do some tattered rose for sure and we're going to use let's just do static rose and gold let's see because it's already some of the other darker colors down there because i didn't you know clean the plate off completely so let's see what we have boy i hope you guys are enjoying this session as much as i am as you can see i'm having a ball here's that pink so look how that that goes from this so what we're about ready to see this second stage is makes all the difference in the world in your prints so even if you just do it with your with your spray dyes have added roll it out on your plate with those chalk paints down there they just absorb so much differently if you just put them down with a regular acrylics they're just going to kind of bead up and they're not going to be interesting seem like i keep on pulling this cat pattern it's like look at that but look at it against that pink wow wow wow wow okay just have two more wow we did them all so let's let's do it just by spraying so let's use t where is it t and let's use this green shimmer mist which was really pretty okay a little bit of that gold now here we're just going to gently kind of roll it out okay alrighty see we get here boy this is a lot of fun these are going to make some nice prints for the june printable january printables these backgrounds are just going to be so great for collaging for base pages for journaling um tearing them up as collage elements whoa whoa whoa whoa look at that that green is really nice in with these colors oh boy let me see if i can just lock that center a little bit yeah just to kind of get that out wow i really like that green on there mixed in with the pinks and we use the tea i think and that tea is a kind of a pinky color oh great so the last one is going to be let's choose the green okay so we still have some of all those other colors on there i just want to see what that green the shimmer green and the gold is going to look like let's see on this background on this white so this is like this is like white with a bit of the pink in it the background you see so have at it if you guys haven't already turn me off and start it or turn me down i know a lot of you just have me on when you're working in your studio you've probably already gone to your bins pulling all your sprays out it's like a blast from your past oh boy look at this that's gorgeous so let's blot it lighting it helps to take the puddles away so it doesn't look so quite so puddled oh boy look at that wow looks so exotic doesn't it is it just me am i like am i over the top with this or what these are so gorgeous it's like the more i work with this technique just and i think mixing like mixing the different shimmer mists the dyes so whatever you have in a spray bottle my friend pull it out start making them i know a lot of you make your own make some make some of your alcohol dyes or whatever um and get those backgrounds on but the key to this technique we have discovered is that it has to be a you have to have a chalk background so it needs to be a matte paint a chalk paint so like the paper artsy and the fresco is a chalk the blick in the mat is a chalk and these right here home decor folk art you guys call it plaid in the uk i know for sure and in europe look for anything that's a chalk paint a matte a fresco finish the fresco finish is still a chalk paint here so it's got to be a chalk paint it cannot be your shiny acrylic it's just not going to absorb into the paper and into the paint the same and then anything that's in a spray bottle that you have that you like and that if nothing else if you don't if you have a lot of other sprays if nothing else get the seth after in this gold this gold just blends in it's called gold mine it blends in with everything it's so subtle and so i think any of your other paints it's going to make it it's going to give it that that old world venetian sort of yummy but it's subtle so it doesn't look like you got a lot of metallic on there it's just a subtle um color so these are still down here drying but let's see oh here we go this is the third one that we pulled so you look at it oh my goodness it's nearly dry but just look at that finish and then this is the blue look at that it's just insane so have at it i think that that's i think this has been a good session um you got a lot of you've got a lot of takeaways and i will be working these into january printables along with some of the ones from that first session there was some good ones from that one and yeah and i will see you guys again next saturday and just continue to enjoy your holiday season continue to enjoy time in your studio and uh i have to think of a project for us you know what a master board with these would be gorgeous whoa they would really look exotic all right take care everyone love you so much enjoy your time in your studios please make sure to like the video thumb it up if you do and join um with us if you haven't if it's first time coming across my videos and i will see you guys again soon take care bye
