Oh today I'm back with my jolly plate again and I'm going to be doing some printing with some leaves that I found yesterday and we've been for those of you in the UK we've been having a fantastic summer so far and I wasn't at work yesterday and we went out for a walk around some lovely gardens that are nearby and there was some really really pretty leaves that were dropping from a tree and I just couldn't resist picking some of these up and bringing them home and I thought they'd make a really good design on my jelly plate I was sort of inspired by one had seen a few weeks ago on the jelly arts website where they were using feathers to print and I've got actually got a couple of feathers as well and if I feel like it today in this session I might do some prints with the feathers but it was mainly the leaves I wanted to have a go with so I've got a whole selection of paints I've got some at the department corner I've got some of the decor crafters acrylics just basically lots of lots of colors of paint off to the side here I've got a pile of paper that I've cut to size this is just regular printer paper I'm using today and I've just cut the a4 sheets in half because I'm using my 5x7 inch jelly plate I've got my scrap of paper here to the side for my brayer and I've got a little bit of this is some washi tape you could use a bit of masking tape so I'm gonna be taping the paper in place so that when I do you'll watch the process and you'll see that I'll go back two or three times and I need it to be in the same spot so basically I'm just sort of creating a little hinge that will hold the paper in place while I'm doing the printing process but really simple each print is going to have two colors of ink I may be doing a couple of ghost poles in between if there's if there's some paint left on my plate but I'm going to keep going until I have run out of paper here or I'll get bored will see whichever's first and then hopefully at the end I'll be back with some finished projects as well because I know a lot of your asked questions about what you do with the prints when you've finished them so we'll see how much time we've got today but to begin with I'm just gonna start doing some prints using the the leaves and the paints so for each one as I say I'm going to use two colors I'm going to use a lighter color for my first layer and then a darker color for my second layer so for this first one I'm going to use this orange and yellow so this is banana cream and bright orange you can use any paints that you've got they don't have to be these but the deco art acrylics I find really good on the jelly pies so we're just gonna put some paint on brayer it over just get a nice even layer reasonably even layer just take the excess off on the scrap of paper over here and so I'm just gonna pop this little bit of washi tape on the side rub that all over and just peel it back but this washi tape will keep that in the same place so that when we do the next layer it'll print in the same spot so I'm going to go back with the year bright orange pop a little bit more on don't want too much paint you'll get the feel of it once you've been doing it a while then take some of the leaves and we're going to place them with the the vein side down so you'll see that one side of your leaves has more texture than the other we're going to pop them so the vein side is down on the jelly place I'm just going to put two one like that gently just press it in place and then take that piece of paper back over pressing down firmly but but carefully and then as we pull it back you'll see we've got the silhouette of the leaves but what we can do next is carefully lift the leaves off just move that a little bit there that's Kama drift and then this is why we need the washi tape because we want our paper to be in the same space okay back again and then that will pick up all that veining detail off the leaves and that's so pretty just take the bit of washi tape off it I'll put the print to one side I'm just going to be pressing down my leaves onto my scrap of paper and just to take off some of the excess paint we can use these again it's fine and the paint will dry quite quickly on here because it's it's very thin now as you can see that well you may not be able to see there is a little bit of paint left on my jelly plate and so I'm gonna see if I can pull another print off that so I'm going to just choose a contrasting color and so say I'll try this I've got citrus green I've got nothing to lose by trying to pull a ghost print sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't it just all depends whether there's actually enough paint left on the surface of the jelly plate and there as you can see there is the very subtle outline it's not showed up so well there was not a lot of orange paint left on this one so I'm going to repeat that using some different colors a couple of different leaves and keep going until I've got a whole pile of prints so I might just speed this up I will try and show you the colors of the paynus I'm going I'm going to be using but I will put a list of them in the description down below at the bottom so I know when it speeds up sometimes you don't quite catch the the color on the bottle of the paint [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] you [Music] so I've tidied up my prints I've trimmed them on my trimmer got rid of the excess paper from around the edge and I'm really pleased with the way that the the detail shows up on these prints really really nice that the the leaves the feathers the detail that shows up in those it's really really good now as it expected that the ghost prints hit-and-miss depending on how much paints left on the jelly plate I don't mind I was cleaning my plate off in between and even if there's not a lot of pattern there I can still find a use for it as a background in a collage or on a journal page or a card some have worked better than others this one that's quite a bit of detail this I can just see the the outline and that's all not a lot on that one or that one this one's come out quite well as has this one I've done a couple of practice prints and before I started videoing and that was the original print and that was the ghost print of the feather which came out quite nicely and that was the practice run I did with the leaves and again the ghost print came out quite well I've got a good outline there but I'm going to be able to find a use for a lot of these if not all of them I never expect to be able to make something from all of them but I've spent 30 minutes and I've got a considerable number of prints here and I'd be happy if I could get half a dozen projects out of this so in the time it takes for the picture to go all blurry and then come back again I should be back with some finished projects for you and as if by magic we're back here again and I've got some finished projects for you the simplest projects are going to be the ones using the prints that you like the best and in this instance this print with the feathers came out beautifully so I've added a stamp sentiment which incidentally is stamped onto one of the ghost prints that didn't have much detail on it but because it's the same color paint it coordinated perfectly I took one of the leaf prints I trimmed it down to a square and matted it onto some contrasting cardstock and just stumped a sentiment directly on to the print another one of the leaf prints here this time of stamped and I've embossed this is some gray embossing powder I love this stamp this is actually all one stamp and it just seemed to fit in beautifully with this nice little background I like the soft colors in this one this print with the feathers again really striking so matted onto some contrasting called simple stunt sentiment and you know it's a it's a really nice card to stick it in with some ATC swaps or just a little note just to say hello to somebody but going back to the ghost prints just treat them as if they were a pattern paper or even up a plain paper here I've cut them into panels mataji's onto some black card stock and then stamped this foliage stamp I've added a bit of detail with a white gel pen and put a die-cut flower on there and a sentiment similar way I've created to ATC's the background M was the ghost prints with the very little detail in them and also the butterflies that also stamped onto some of the ghost print as well stamped and embossed with some black embossing powder cut out glued in place here and this is just a stump and I've used some embossing powder on the background there if you don't do cards what about a little notebook this is just a little notebook how to a pack of three that I had and I've covered it with one of the prints with the leaves on it I've added a little ink around the edges and finished it off with a word sticker and you know great little gift or something you just pop in you bad so I hope you'll agree that there are lots of things you can do with the prints I've still got you know a whole pile here that I haven't used yes and from a half an hour session you know we created a lot to be going on with so maybe there's answers some of the questions I do get a lot of questions of people's what dude what do you do with it when you finished with it or really anything that you can use a pattern scrapbook paper on you can use your jelly print so as always if you enjoyed this video and found it useful please leave me a thumbs up don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already and I'll be back again soon with some more crafty inspiration but for now that's all bye [Music]
