what's going on guys back out here on the lake in a comment that I've been getting quite a bit here recently in the comments section has been in regards to how I set my live scope up on my ranger bass boat so without further ado we gonna jump right into it I'm gonna show you guys how I like to set my live scope up and all the different local tips and techniques that my help me catch like a few more fish so stay tuned here we go [Music] alright guys so you got your live scope hooked up you out on the lake you ready to go fishing here's a few tips on how I like to set mines up that might get you a few extra bikes so you got your live scope turned on you're out on the lake it's time to go fishing for me the very most important thing to me is the color scheme in which I feel like my eyes can see best so right now we're looking at amber or copper one of the two I'm not sure but I don't prefer this color so I'm going to show you guys how to go into your into this unit and select the proper color scheme that works for you so I'm gonna come here i'ma hit menu and right here at the very bottom second to the bottom will go to sonar setup well select sonar setup and at the very top here you'll see it says appearance let's go into appearance alright now the very first election under appearances color scheme this is where all the different palettes are that you can select so let's go into there and as you can see at the top we got amber which that wasn't amber I had it on this is Amber you got copper black emerald midnight blue orange crawfish red shad blue and then yellow which yellow is not really a yellow it's more of a white background but it's all again personal preference for me my preference is blue this is the one that I like to use when I'm using live scope I feel like I can see bait fish I can see fish and I can see structure the best with the blue palette so that's the one we're gonna select out of that we'll come back to the main page because I want to walk you guys through every single step the second thing for me that I find very important when I'm using live scope is this grid system okay and I say important not as in as if I'm using it for me it's important to remove it from my eyes it's just one more thing to distract me a lot of people like it because you can really identify and isolate the depth in what you're target is so for example here's a fish out here at 60 foot and inside this grid right here I know it's 60 plus foot out and it's moving further oh and then over here I can cross-reference and it's about 20 foot down you know that's the basically the benefit of you having a grid system but again let's go back in the menu we're gonna go in the sonar setup once again a parent and grid overlay and it basically just gives you one off and it's either show or hide so we're gonna hit grid overlay one time it goes to hide let's back out of that so you can get a good image of that and voila all that grid systems gone it frees up the graph it's a lot cleaner a lot crispier and it just allows me to see everything I need to see so much better so I certainly like to remove the grid you might like it but again it's all personal preference so I'm showing you guys how I like to set mines up the next thing I want to talk about that's very important when using life scope is the range in which you can look out so for myself I've been using live scope for about two years now and I feel pretty confident that I can see bass at 80 to 90 foot out okay but I felt like a great starting point for somebody who's just getting live scope just getting warmed up with it I'd say the 50 between 50 and 70 foot I got this one set at 70 foot right now for example purposes I think this is a great place to start as we can see some some baitfish out here 55 feet about 5 foot underneath the surface there I mean this technology is just underneath the bait you see that that's a ball of bait 60 foot out and there's a bass underneath that look at him swimming up to that bait right now just swam in the bait just ate something right now unbelievable that right there was impressive continuing on right so we got our range set up at 70 foot and Garmin has a convenient range center right here you can either go increase it to whatever you want to increase it or you can decrease it to whichever you'd like to decrease it so I set that at 70 I think that's a great starting point the next important thing there are all important things but you just need jump in here and toy with it until you get dialed in alright so the next thing that I think is is highly important is the game other electronic companies they will call this sensitivity and so basically this is what's gonna allow you to see things either kind of blurry or distort it or very very crisp so what I'm wanting to do is increase my gain high as I possibly can have it without getting too much bounce back from transducer and just anything in the water so let me show you what I'm talking about what I like to do is I go in here and I'll start turning this gain up and I'll get it real real hot and as you start doing that you start seeing a screen get real fuzzy okay you can still see some fish and some other objects down there right but it's real fuzzy you can't really make things out and that's at 79 percent and from there I start backing down to where I can start identifying objects things start to bounce out more individualize and they just look a lot cleaner so let's start backing down right coming down coming down coming down things are starting to clear up oh right there 70 69 68 somewhere between 68 and 70 in this depth range I like as you get shallower okay you'll need to decrease that game because there's not as much water obviously for the live scope to be looking out so it'll look really really hot even at 68 when you're in like let's say 12 to 5 foot and then you just simply back that game down and everything will clear up on you bunch of small probably white bass or something like that out here out there about 25 foot on the bottom as you can see and look way out here at 70 foot that's three individual bass that I can see clear as day that I'd have never had an opportunity to see before so let's keep going let's keep digging in this let's get our live scope completely set up so I want to jump back into menu and sonar setup for the most part everything you need to play with is gonna be underneath sonar set up on your Garmin unit so I'm gonna jump back in the Garmin and - excuse me and the sonar setup and the next thing I want to talk about is CVG you're probably wondering what that is that stands for time varying gain that also has to deal with the clarity and the crispness of the live scope transducer and how things read so I like to set this on medium but when you go in there you can either turn it off you can have it low medium or high I personally like to have that all medium so we'll hit medium right there and I'm done with that so depending on which unit you have live scopes compatible with the echo maps the echo map ultras the 76 series and the 86 series they may be a few others that I might have left out but I know those four for sure are live scope compatible so depending on how new or old your unit is you may have to go underneath sonar setup to access your gain as well as your range both of those are on there okay while we're in here again depth range this is important because a lot of people plug their unit in and they're unsure they leave this depth range set on a particular depth so you can go in there and don't have it at 50-foot 54 foot you can go up and down whatever they'll have it at 50 foot and what will happen is anytime you get deeper than 50 foot it's not reading bottom or if you get too shallow like you can't find bottom because the unit you have told the unit to only look down 50 foot right you can change this all over different depths we don't want to do that see I'm out here in 28 foot I put on 22 all of a sudden I can't see the bottom I like to run this on auto so no matter where I'm at I'm always getting bottom contact as you can see right here very important bass obviously utilize the bottom a lot you definitely want to maintain bottom contact so make sure you got the death range on auto and hit done we'll back out of that all right one other thing I want to show you guys that some people really like to utilize I personally don't but I'm gonna show it to you anyways because it might help you catch a couple extra fish it's also under sonar setup and we're gonna go to appearance again and it's the trails okay trails basically I mean they literally leave a trail behind moving objects you have out there in the water I don't personally like it but some guys do basically what they do is if a fish is up high in a water column and then it swims out of the cone but it's headed downward the trail will kind of follow that fish down and kind of clues you in you can't necessarily see them but it'll clue you in as to where it went so I want to go ahead and turn it on real quick so I can show you guys what I'm talking about so there's three different options underneath trails you have fast medium and slow so let's go ahead and put it on slow just so you can kind of get an idea what I'm talking about in regards to follow on fish down so you can see that little mist behind the fish there it's kind of pinkish depending on the palate that you use it may change colors but that's basically the truth I don't like it just because it leaves you know something else from my eyes to be paying attention to while I'm out fishing that's technically not a fish at the time so but you might want to play with that that might be very helpful for you that might be something that really works you know I just prefer not to have fur you can kind of see on it that pink stuff right there that kind of just leaves the trim there's a fish woman away from us leaving a pink trail behind it right here there's another one swimming towards us leaving a pink trim not my cup of tea you guys might totally dig it but I'm gonna go back in here and turn trails off and get back to fishing the way I like to so alright guys I hope you guys learned something from this video pick up a few tips for your live scope when you're out on the lake just play with a lot of those different settings don't be afraid to dig into the unit start press the stuff messing around but that's a quick 1/2 step that how I like to break down my wife's coat that's how I run it 100% of the time hope this helps you guys out thanks for checking out the channel see you on the next one peace [Music]
