GARAGE FLOOR EPOXY (Polycuramine) - So GOOD! Rustoleum ROCKSOLID Grey

[Music] [Music] that's terrible ladies and gentlemen Aloha welcome back to the channel welcome back to this little piece of paradise that I call our Hawaiian garage today's video is not about any of these vehicles it's actually about a garage and it's actually not even about this brush here what we're doing right now this morning actually heading over to my dad's house because he has been in process of his own little garage build it's like it turned out really really well I think I inspired him obviously with my amazing garage but what he's doing today is his floors I have a wealth of experience of doing garage floors not really I've done one in my life and it's this one right here and it turned out so incredibly good that he's actually going to be doing his own today and what we use in our garage was the rustling rock solid metallic now it was one of the most expensive options but it created this marble ish effect wall give you that gloss finish which I was really really going for and I could not be happier the way it turned out now the worst part about this floor and I given is a very nice garage but it's also a working garage I do a lot of work on automotive stuff in this garage and the last big thing I did was the full suspension rebuild on that old Mercedes in the driveway and as you can see right here yeah that's that's where the the jack stand was when I was working up underneath the car so this is completely scratched pretty much ruined right there but that's fine I expected that I anticipated scratches coming on this floor so the pros what the rock solid metallic epoxy is a phenomenal look a good Sheen a good shine incredibly easy to clean and it looks great the cons it scratches very easy like really really easy but I think once I get a good enough amount of scratches on this thing I'm gonna buff it out and then probably do a clear coat over the top of it they do sell like clear epoxy which you know we might use to repair this floor one day down the road but that's not today so what we're doing today is hopping in the 2020 Trail Boss and the whole family is going over to what my son says it's Grammys house we're going to Grandma's house and then hang out with Grammy and I'm gonna be at my dad in his garage doing his floor he's got his own wrestling product which is not the same as mine and we'll get a good comparison of my floor versus his when it's all said and done so without further ado let's get the keys [Music] I love this truck let's get our killer in and get to work he's ready to rock and roll check this out guys this looks so different than it did growing up this is the garage that I learned how to work on stuff in and I did not look like this when I was growing up at all all the good stuff out here got ass toolbox got all this fun stuff freezer 99 Silverado the og of the og me I love this truck now before we dig into the garage guys thought here what if we really restore this thing completely on the hundred thousand actually the entire power train platform has about three hundred thousand miles on it she's due for an upgrade suspension wise a little bit older can do some rebuilding in the suspension we rebuilt the front end by about six years back shock troponin er done the bottom got a lot of surface rust a lot of nastiness under that and the interior is yeah she's she's a bit older but let me know in the comments guys if you guys want to see that I start playing with this as well let me know she got there he has completely redone all the walls so the walls were super nasty all the tape was falling off he ripped that all off basically re puttied it sanded the entire thing and then he built this storage thing up here is extremely high ceiling so he utilized that ceiling here on the edge and built this storage area and then liked it so much that he decided to build another one so he has this one over here as well so lots of storage space lots of open activities to play he's already got all this patched nice you're gonna rock n roll on this to be easy so he's already doing a fun task of grinding the floor he actually went through the same grinder that I did from Home Depot grab down the floor looks fantastic it's got the rust-oleum patch all finished up already what we're gonna do is actually make sure we use all of the epoxy that the rest Oleum kit has my issue us actually had a little bit left over and I was finishing I wish I would have used more beginning though I was nervous you think it's using too much at the beginning and running out by the end so rectina be strategic in this one to use the right amount per section and work away all the way down to the end of the garage there's some stuff down no this is she said you do a lot better job than I did on the putty when I put 8 it was nasty honest and on the way down well this is pretty much all the way smoother ready and those are the same lights that I tried at my garage but only one of them worked because the garage door openers in the way so I gave him the other one and you liked it so much that he put one two three and he's gonna add two more just for the heck of it so really good lights like operating like I have an operating room that's been operating I have 90 thousand lumens in my garage a little overboard but we do everything overboard these walls looks so good I wish I had smooth walls one thing that I do wish in my garage I have textured walls I did not texture it myself it was like that we moved in but I the texture walls are nice today I hide a lot of imperfections but they had smooth walls that is so much better than mine I'm jealous so one of my biggest complaints that when I did my garage was the rollers it came with the rollers like deteriorated as we went oh goodness no that's way better that is way better yeah that's gonna be great that's weird did he do the good rollers Mike it was more expensive crappy rollers [Music] good place that's sweet so what my biggest complaint when I did my garage guys was the foam rollers they pretty much just fell apart as you were using him and it would actually stick to the epoxy you had to go back every time you do this section and basically pick it up with your hand all the little pieces that fell off right gonna fleece come with the kit so the flakes the rollers and all of the epoxy and hardener Russia Liam rock-solid it's gonna be kind of the same thing that I had but instead of having the metallic in there facing metallic when you're applying it creates a little bit of a swirl effect and when it dries it gives you that little marbled look this could be more of a solid gray color and you throw chips on top of it it gives it kind of the one that hides the imperfections and then - it gives it a little bit of a different dynamic so we have black white grey and blue chips we have two packets of those yeah all right I'm gonna put you guys away actually I'm starting you guys on the time-lapse and then we're gonna get to work [Music] okay as watching YouTube video so now I'm an expert on how to use this this hit guys has a part a part be similar to the one that I had no way there's team mine is mine actually had a metallic additive you put separately so then add that metallic ID to have a separate bucket you basically break part a into Part B mix it up real good pour that entire thing into a bucket use the metallic flakes put the flakes into the bucket and use a mixer to mix it all in but because there's no metallic flake additive with this one it's gonna be simply break these break the seal mix it up real good we're gonna use this to pour it straight on to the concrete it's not really that hard guys if you guys want to try this out definitely go for it it is a little bit of an investment so you do want to take your time and preparation to ensure that your garage floor is ready for this [Music] [Music] let's party [Music] now important before this cures and dries we need to get the flakes and then spread them out so how we're going to get from here to the very corner mines I can assure you might go into the house to throw them out but uh yeah instead of us yeah what do you think do you want to throw one and try a little bit or some do you better than asteroids personally when I solve videos of the chips and everything being thrown down like The Apprentice the finished product I didn't like it but didn't get I didn't see it in person it was just through videos and seeing this in person is completely different it looks so much better in person than it does on video so chips is not a bad way to go well guys I got a extremely smart and incredibly stupid idea [Music] [Music] [Music] well there you have it guys oh my goodness is his gorgeous look at that finish my job preparing this floor I didn't know what he was up to for the last several weeks but he spent so much time grinding this thing prepping yet getting the cracks patched up that the finish is no problem at all that's kind of the thing here if you take your time with the preparation the finished product one it's always good but it's extremely easy and painless unless you forget to get your batteries in the wall and have to scale though god anyways it's fantastic guys I can 24 hours before we're gonna go ahead and try to walk on it it's nice and warm out fortunately I'll be back 85 degrees so this is gonna cure pretty quick so next up we're gonna close up the garage don't want any dirt or grass or bugs to come in here and become part of the concrete so we're gonna close this up and we'll see you guys for the final reveal in about 24 hours welcome back boys welcome back we've brought the charger today figured it needed to put some heat in the engine get the fluids running but it's been 24 hours let's go take a look at the the og lost our Hawaiian garage that's the og I guess he is the og check out them banana trees growing good springtime Texas you got the 55 to 99 Silverado mom's Lexus and oh wow oh geez oh my goodness look at this that is gorgeous [Music] not bad dad oh geez got the racks back in did you want to put anything underneath this floor [Music] [Music] the flake wasn't the fan I wasn't a fan of the flakes and you still get like the glossy finish but you get traction unlike mine these little flakes give you traction you use a wipe out of my garage just keep it dry turn out so good now we said that what was the two spots only two spots that didn't make it let's see yeah right here so underneath this rack for some reason the epoxy just wouldn't stick you see some of these like darker spots I think it's either moisture or oil within the concrete so when you put the epoxy over the top of it or they Polly cure mean it just wouldn't stick or bond to the concrete and there's one more spot you know right here so right here's where just the epoxy just wouldn't bond and it kind of spreads it's really goofy it's really weird how that chemical bond works but if you guys do not prepare your concrete correctly this is what you're gonna see all over the floor fortunate my dad took the time did grind it down pretty much all the way and there's only that spot in that spot in the rest of the garage is flawless like completely flawless absolutely look at this thing it's just amazing I wish I was like this when I was growing up spend more time in here [Music] and it's knife in my garage and I'm like motioning battling it's mine so I know there's a lot of mixed reviews when it comes to the resto lien products I've actually negative reviews when it comes to the rock-solid product but I'll tell you the finish you're gonna get all is based on the preparation you put in to your floor if you prepare your floor right give it enough time to dry completely if you're gonna grind it down do it right and if you do it right you're gonna get phenomenal results if you do not prepare your concrete right guess what are you gonna be one of those guys riding a negative review take your time do it right and you're gonna get a beautiful finish just like this that is so guys I'm so excited for my dad he's been talking about my floor a lot every time he comes over saying he wants to do his I'm so happy he finally kind of hunkered down found the time and got it done it looks so incredibly good now before he closed up guys there's one thing I do want to show you and it's this right here I don't know if I've explained exactly what this is this is an old Corvette motor this came out of I think it's a 1984 Corvette it's just a 350 small block nothing special at least one of those years actually Chevrolet probably wishes never happened but what happened here was actually a friend of ours he had a Corvette one of the valves collapsed so he bought a new was easy for crate engine and we put it in for him and an exchange he gave us his old one so what I did actually torn apart rebuilt it and before could finally get it done and finished and started up I left for college my dad's held it here for the last what is that 13 years yeah 13 years now so she's been sitting on the stand and I'm happy to say soon enough we're gonna be bringing this over to my house now here's my idea for this I'm gonna say this 1980s small-block 350 is completely useless you're not gonna get much power out of it there's nothing really to drop it into but I've always dreamed of having one of those epic coffee tables let me know what you guys think what if we take the 350 small block completely apart and build the most manly masculine testosterone based coffee table ever known to man the engine block coffee table let me know in the comments below if you guys want to see that the complete teardown of
