what's happening what's happening what's happening course you know it's your boy be radio shout in as always I got my podcast po off in this thing OG gangster Wicked aka Big Galaxy of ghetto Mafia what's happening we we got some OG's in the building man I couldn't even sleep last night be man pleas come on with the intro come on with you staying too long before I before I start saying something one of my favorite podcast also there some podcast Partners off in this thing too I'm talking about Gangster Chronicles Ste hey what's happening I feel like we made it dog we be no we don't we don't made it cuz we MC so so we just going to do this on the whole show we going to do this we do this show first of all man I got to take it straight to the beginning man gangster the podcast going crazy as hell right now as we speak how did it come about and what has it been like putting it down for the gangsters man you know what man like I said like we was talking before the interview started man I started this in 2016 and it wasn't a success I I didn't do the Gangster Chronicles first a lot of people don't know this but I thought of the Gangster Chronicles probably four years before we actually put it out and I was doing a podcast with glasses Malone I wanted to be a behind the scenes dude okay I didn't never want be on the podcast I was just go because I saw where podcasting was going yeah because it went from having you know they had the app on the phone and that's how I discovered podcast and I was messing with my iPhone one day and I saw the little microphone and I got kind of hooked on the stuff I said man this people on here but it wasn't that many shows it went from being like 20 shows to like 20 billion it's right now you go on there right so I started early man and um I started talking to different people man and um shout out I got to give a shout out to my homeboy Chris moral from loudspeakers Network you know he's a Pioneer yeah he com back Jack Jack yeah I had to foring man because glass is Malone I was managing him and he had a relationship with Charlotte man charlot all them was over there right I recall so I remember I met Chris and from then on he became like kind of like a mentor and he would tell me what to do and he said hey man you have to have some money CU I said I'm going to start a network I want to do what Chris was doing exactly that was the thing I wanted to do what he was doing and um so I was start I said okay it wasn't that many podcast at the time I said okay I got glasses I'mma set them up yeah but we G to do some actually glasses was in my living room I said man I'mma get big sight rest in peace home bigy yes sir I'm going get big S me and him was running real tough and I'mma put a podcast together man this is going to be it's going to talk about gangster rap music and his impact on the environment you know and how it coincides with the streets and I first first of all I don't like calling the ganger rap because it's reality rap absolutely you know what I'm saying so I want to do you know a show just you know highlighting the urban plight right so you know bigy died yeah you know he passed away um that kind of it didn't put a damp on me so then I started thinking I saw some guys I I don't want to say their names but I saw two cats right that I had in mind for we hooked that up let this comes you know later on and um we the three of us started off together at that time I was thinking about moving to Atlanta cuz I you know I got a love affair with this city goes back many moons right so I was G to move down to Atlanta so I was G to get the show set up and everything so I brought a third person in um and y'all know how I he was dealing with people sometimes man dealing with people well know well one of the guys he was he had told me from the jump he was going to have to go do some time he was going to have to go do some time so I knew he was leaving the six month the other guy I had was so green I couldn't do it but the other dude I brought in I have nothing but love for them dudes you know we wern't friends it was all business yeah you know it was you know it was business so one of the guys Man start kind of becomeing problematic when Co hit he just stopped coming ah he just stopped coming so I had to step in yeah because the other dude was in jail like I said my one dude was real hella green yeah you know what I'm saying doing the best he could he was doing a good job had a name and stuff but he just wasn't ready to control that mic all the way right you know what I'm saying so we went and did that man fast forward it's a lot of stuff that happened in between there um these different research departments that start calling us like Spotify called us um another company called Bown that reached out I know about Ben toown so I told y'all about Chris moral earlier right yeah my boy glasses Malone who you going to have you know the same seats Man one the things that happened was he had told me he said bro you know um I think Charlotte man want to [ __ ] with y'all and I was like for real yeah and I try not to I try to temper my excitement when certain stuff happen because if you've been doing this you see these Graves man these Graves these some scars you know as you get them calls you be ready man you be excited and you know I call people man we about to get this and that and then it just crickets right so I was trying to be cool about it and I was like this so you know people calling man and then it took about probably like six months to get the deal done do you know them r on them deals get done like like waiting on the baby down exactly because you don't know what's going to happen you like they still in they just go silent on you yeah and then they called me one day and they had the head dude on the phone they had the head guy on the phone and um he said you know we'll get this done to contract this and yall thing and we've been rolling since then I'd been thinking even before then about putting eight in the show m I had eight come in and do a camera test he didn't know it was a camera test it was an interview SL camera test because I wanted to see how cuz I know he can speak he know he one of the best rappers in the world so of course he can talk he can communicate but I wanted to see how he got along with the other dude I was potentially talking about because they from opposite sides of the track so I thought about that man but then all the stuff you know the world shut down and all this stuff start so we never got to quite get it going at that time with him but then me and charlott manne was talking I said okay this going to be the perfect time to bring him in cuzz the other dude I fin he was finally gone you know what I mean so I said I could make this move right now and Charlotte Mana told him he said man I think y'all need a rapper on the show I said that's right because it those dudes were hip-hop ignorant yeah Didn't Know I Was the you know hip hop the swords on the show right he said I think y'all need a rapper on there and I was just I was like man God please don't let them say one of these dumb mother suckers you know cuz dealing with people is hard right um he said man I really like that dude mc8 I said Thank You Jesus because you one thing I learned in this business man 30 years you can't fight the money all the time they want to do something dog you got to I think he brilliant that's how you keep getting the check whatever you want to do you cutting the check man we going to get on here whoever you want as long as you can pay for it he call it tap dancer you know two extent man because my vision of the show to be honest with you man like my vision man ganger Chronicles is supposed to be a show that's passed on I want this to be one of the first podcast man the last 50 years and run it like how Johnny Carson yeah you know you know the night show Johnny Carson you got people and you you know you evolve you know I'm saying you got to evolve man you can't stay stagnant so that was my thing man to bring real qualified people man to discuss this just real just this genre man of Ganga rap is real misunderstood man but you think about it right now gangster rap is still running the scene think about music is reality rap right that's right think about the genres that Spawn from gangster rap all of a crunk yeah drill trap you talking about the streets man that's gangster [ __ ] come on yeah come that's gangster [ __ ] so it a I don't separate it you know what people call it the colloquialism for it of certain may have for this ganger rap when I heard the Ghetto Boys I went crazy just like I did when I first heard CMW I said oh my God they talking about the same [ __ ] that you know I see outside come on man still I got to ask you this though man I mean on the business side of things what has it been like being an entrepreneur through this digital age and with digital media man I I I'm G give you the short thing of it because if it's a lot to it and the business is changing every day it's changed exponentially from the first time I talk about 2016 cuz I thought all I was going to need I said well I got a pro tool I'm going to get that and a couple of microphones and we going to go get a little room we just go chop it up and I was talking to one of my publicist home girls she said what's the show about yeah and that really forced me to think I said man I got to get my I got to get the um the mission statement for the show synopsis done for the show because I get a lot of people that hit me up for podcast all the time I don't know who they think I the sh night of podcas or whatever but I'll be in the mall and it's like it remind me of the music cuz I was anr at one time it remind me of music yeah man I got a podcast man go check out the first thing they lose me at is when they tell me to go to their YouTube channel I say bro that's not a podcast yeah yeah it's cool and I appreciate what you doing over there I'm not doubting it because YouTube is starting to become a major player in the podcast it's one of the most listen to platforms but I said that audio is going to get a company like a iHeart or Spotify to invest to what you trying to do right well see I hate to cut you off can you break down the importance of audio for people that don't know because I mean a lot of posts are going straight to Youtube rout and they ain't even thinking about the audio well I tell you what the audio does man the audio gives you a chance to establish a real base of people because most people that come to YouTube let's be honest they just there with their popcorn W to see the [ __ ] yeah just because you got a show you might have a I've seen brilliant shows on on YouTube that might only have 500 views but it's the most brilliant stuff I saw you are at the mercy of the algorithm that's true if YouTube is not suggesting your video you are not going to get views and YouTube is only going to give you a snapshot of the people listening to your show the thing with audio we can determine what type of device they listening on which gives you a little play into their income oh dude he listen he listening on the new iPhone 15 he got some money yeah cuz that's what advertisers want to hear okay that's what advertisers you know advertisers they want to hear what kind of demographic you know it could break it down the streets now it's so cold you know and the thing with audio when people are invested in your show yeah they're going to come and tune in they they real fans yeah anybody to go take the time because if you got to if a person got to go through more than three steps to get to your app or with your show is you lost them they want to just be able to pick up their phone and do this right here but if they take themt steps let me find Gangster Chronicles let me subscribe to it that means they want you to hear them Their audience retains a little bit more YouTube is like this answer me this still for somebody that wants to get into the podcast and that don't understand the AUD your side of it can you let them know gener uh generically speaking how much money are they missing out on cuz see that's what make them go where they need to go they're missing on a lot of money because I'm going tell you um what's the cpms on YouTube now they they range from anywhere they could be $14 $4 sometime 40 depends on um the thing about the Audio I I believe Joe Rogan I'm I don't know Joe Rogan's business yeah but I would guess he getting $75 CPM but people don't know what a CPM is CPM means cost per meal so for every thousand downloads you get on something you get a fee and the higher those downloads go the more that fee can escalate exactly so you know you think about it let's say they paying beeh high yeah $100 CPM and you getting 100,000 download you getting 100,000 downloads every week right you can make serious money cuz Charlotte told me that one day and for all my family out there that don't mean I'm rich yeah y hit him up tomorrow Rich checks Hey cuz I don't know y'all saw the homies get down the minutes I don't need them standing on me like this and they going to be telling his ass I need some help you need some help and that's the biggest thing man it's a lot of work and it cost some money too dog yeah if you really want to do it the right way don't get me wrong I'm a firm believer and pushing stuff as organic as you possibly can until you can't no more then you start trying to cuz you got to know you got something first exactly you got to know you got something you know worth even you putting your money into right because I've had shows dog like to be honest Hest with you dog I've had shows that host I know a bunch of rappers yeah that you know I'm thinking like man this dude got platinum records it's about to crack off and you get that stuff back that that that that that report don't lie man goose eggs all across the thing you know I mean it's like man this this ain't going to work but you have to the whole key thing to it is being patient you have to be patient man and you have to you got to work man it's a lot of work man and the thing is was It's a Grind dog it's like it's more than just I think people that watch listen to the podcast they think that we just show up on when every day we do the show just sit in and talk some [ __ ] and just go on it's a lot of planning to go to it CU our show is a long form conversation yeah and you have to remember you're measured on everything on audio from your listen time yeah how long people listen because you can have a million downloads but if they only going there listening for two minutes Advertiser ain't buying that he going say man who go hear the show be gone by the time our head come up right so you have to really know what you doing man you have to really know what it is you getting into a lot of people if they're not getting that immediate we in an era now of immediate gratification if it's not happening now it's not oh man I'm wasting my time I'mma switch to something else that's what people do let me turn to something else exctly and that's how we really won though because we didn't start off just it was cool yeah and I'm not going to lie um it was hard dog but I I don't jump into something and just give up dog I'm really like um I believe in God first and foremost man I think when God give you a vision he don't give you a vision for no reason he giving you a vision to go execute yeah because you know you can see people if I'm on an island man and I'm praying to God please I'm stranded yeah please come and get me it's not like an angel go come out the side and snatch me up out the sand fly me back to land I might pass some rope I might pass some wood I might pass some tar and glue and all that other [ __ ] to make a boat but if I'm steady sitting up there God I'm telling you to save me he telling you man I don't gave you all the tools you need around that's right you feel what I'm saying I figured with my network of people man that let's make it happen man exactly uh hey yo yo the hood took me on the com Most Wanted yes sir take me back to what was going through your mind Lord have mercy take us back I mean these These are the question that that the K say I come from let me let me give you a quick little real fast he's from the southwest side you know I'm from the We R the east side so they was always jealous of us we always we always he everything started on the west side of my to the east side that right there no but I'm just fing but uh the hood took me on man what were you thinking about back then what what how was mc8 living back then to to come up with that [ __ ] man um I was just a young cat you know what I'm saying trying to get my recognition as far as in the streets you know uh I grew up in the streets you know gang banging and [ __ ] like that um basically like you know a lot of typical young youths of our color you know uh living in them them areas you know poverty stricken ghetto gangs drug sales you know Mama struggling daddy struggling trying to make ends meet um I got uh I got interested in gang banging you know for the and not just because of uh to be like yeah I'm claiming a neighborhood but basically for um family and and belonging in the sense of you know I didn't have a older brother growing up uh my sister she was older but she was already in the streets uh pops was living in Oklahoma and you know moms was one of them working all day so you know she work from 11:00 at night to 7:00 in the morning so you leaving a [ __ ] to all kind of [ __ ] to get do so basically it was it was the streets that interested me um I try to tell a lot of [ __ ] you know when you when you start coming of age those childhood dreams sort of disappear you know I'm going be a policeman I'm going be a fireman I'mma Be you get me that [ __ ] goes out the window when you grow up and you start seeing the reality of the streets and where you live and you like I'm not being none of that [ __ ] cuz I'm heavy influenced by them [ __ ] got money yeah wait a minute that [ __ ] in the same grade as I am he driving a brand new [ __ ] so that influenced me because of uh just feeling like I was out of place you get me uh you got the lessons for moms and don't do this and don't do that but when you hanging around 10 other dudes at school and [ __ ] is you know getting money and you know so the influence was to join the gang I did that and at the time it was probably some of the roughest gang banging in Compton you know round the uh round the riots and Rodney King [ __ ] and and uh so many gangs in Compton
