[Music] hi everyone so I'm gonna try to do another video where I record my audio at the same time that I am filming my video we'll see how this goes today I wanted to talk to you a little bit about my fusion white Khalif yeah um I'm gonna put some footage in right here to show you what it looked like over winter it had a pretty rough winter it dried out and I didn't have a good humidity system set up and so it really ended up becoming pretty problematic and I also had a very slight spider mite infection with it when there was a breakout in the house at the beginning of the year while it was still winter and so it this plant just got a hit over and over again it felt like with humidity stress low humidity stress along with a spider mite infection so what I've really focused on is kind of improving my ability to provide moisture to the plant and letting it regrow so I cut all but two of its leaves its original leaves that were on it when I got the plant you can see them right here so this is one and then the other is right here and they're pretty beat up these lips are pretty beat up you can see they definitely this plant has dealt with a lot of stress around humidity sorry about my nails I've been gardening today and getting my hands in the dirt so it doesn't it looks like I'm not done just yet getting my hands dirty so let's take a look at the new growth here it's really pretty it's still looking really good they started coming in I would say very very early spring late winter as I really started focusing on it oh my gosh look at how beautiful this leaf is gorgeous there's a new growth right here that's coming in very pretty and this is its Lily this leaf to kind of open and it's almost all white and I do want to deter the plant from doing that I'm having a few plants do that right now and it does get really difficult to make sure that they've got enough green so that they can photosynthesize look kind of stresses me out when I see these all-white leaves so success for the most part in finding a humidity solution however the plant is now just the same size or a little bit I'd say a little bit smaller than when I originally got it and so that's what sometimes happens when you get a plant and you end up having to really figure out its care and how to make sure that you're gonna get it what it actually needs and you know sometimes it can take you a season and growing season or two to kind of figure that out but I'm hoping that this that this isn't it's got about another month left in the growing season so I'm hoping that I see some more new grow I have shown in a couple of videos recently some of what I have been doing to keep Michael ideas that aren't in the room with humidifier actually how I'm providing them with enough humidity and so one thing that I've been showing it's part of me I'm gonna move this over so here's what I've been doing this is an essential oil diffuser I got this from Whole Foods and I you I got it essentially for essentially got it for essential oil haha that is what I did however when I realized that it put out a nice fine mist kind of atomizing the water and I thought oh that might be a nice like mini humidifier and so I used this with I used one of them with essential oils for a few months and I was really testing to see am I going to see mold growing and I have a really bad problem in my house with humidifiers growing mold within a day or two and that's a really stressful thought you don't want mold growing inside of anything that's been distributing particles out into that into the air so I tested it out for a couple of months and when I didn't see mold growth I thought great I'm gonna go ahead and try it with Michael a Pia's I put it here with my fusion Y and it's been doing really well so I've also been regrowing my Freddie my Freddie had some root damage and so it's regrowing regrowing it's leaps as well right now the old leaves as you can see have you can see the damage that happened at the root coming up through the leaf and so I ended up having to figure out what was wrong with this this plant and why its leaves were we're curling and not uncurling and that's what I found when I finally looked at the roots it was a root issue and so it's it's starting to come back and it's looking the new growth is looking good small but good so I'm kind of starting over with this plant as well this is kind of like my one of my areas in my house where I keep my Khalifa's that need a little bit of extra TLC and so my white fusion my fusion light is right here as well and so I'm gonna go ahead and I'm just gonna show you what it looks like inside of my I'm gonna take the case off this diffuser looks like without the case on and then I can just show you in here what it looks like and again I check this for mold I've never found any in it and I do get some soil in it from time to time I'm not very careful sometimes and right here on the floor next to it I keep distilled water both for watering these plants but also for the distal or the diffuser and so keep that in mind that the diffuser you definitely do need to be using distilled water with it one way that I've grown my plant back after having some pretty serious humidify humidity stress and it's a shame that it happened but to be honest with you I really had to find a solution where I wasn't risking putting mold through my entire house and it you know it did take it's gonna take another season to see some more growth on this plate yeah but that's alright you know I'm I'm willing to deal with that that's not a problem I did get a music how by the way I don't think I showed this yet it wasn't the greatest in the greatest condition when I got it it did say it was a network right which is a specific patent on the musica Khalif yeah I being honest with you I just don't know you know it already had this kind of bounding around the edges on the time that kind of stresses me out a little bit honestly but I'm keeping it here where I'm sort of really caring for these other Klee theas that are recovering from humidity stress and root damage and so hopefully it'll be doing all right I also have my maui queen that i got here it seems to be doing pretty well [Music] however you know it did come to me with some of the the brown tips and the damage and that's just something I'm gonna have to deal with as it's growing out I'm it quite potted it yet it so I'm probably gonna get to that this weekend but you know you see something like this and it's you know it's an older leaf and it probably it just needs to be removed but it's its newest growth is looking really good so we're not too concerned about it right now but that's also when you're buying these younger plants and they go through the stress of shipping they're smaller they're not as well-established the root systems aren't as well established and so it's just something to think about sometimes you need that little TLC corner as I've mentioned in my comments having conversations with all of you which is so great I love the comments I love the tips and I love it when you share your experiences because it really helps me kind of also understand what other people are going through and things that I might be able to try which is always hopeful and it's not I'm sure not just helpful to me but to anybody else that happens to go down and write the comments so I really do appreciate that thank you to everyone who's left comments and please do continue to do so whenever you've got something to share I'd always love to hear what people have to say really I don't think there's ever too much information when it comes to plants no definitely not all of it will apply to each of us in our situation but it's always good just to hear about what's going on with other people you never know what you will encounter with your own plants so kind of sometimes just hearing this and that it really can help us be prepared yeah I don't know about this music music I don't know if it's I just don't know I honestly I didn't think that it was going to make it when I got it you know it was bare root I potted it immediately and I honestly think it got so overheated and shipping I did not know if it was going to make it to the next day the plant was completely limp this this leaf here was completely limp against the pot and I just thought well I don't I don't know if this is going to recover but to be honest with you within about 36 hours of potting it and it being here it seemed to perk up it's sort of holding itself up so I've got some hope for the plant now and I'm going to add some more castings some more top dress it soon I'm at top dress this one one thing I would like to share too probably is the location of where this kind of I think one of the people my comment sees I see you and I have cigarettes kind of like my little Killeen Thea ICU unit over here and this is what I would say is the south west facing window that is instead of facing directly outside it's actually facing another portion of my house so this gets a lot of bright indirect light directly into the window so it's not so bright that it's going to burn leaves however in the winter I'm gonna have to really make sure that this is going to be enough light as the day's grow shorter so that's something that I'm thinking about already but this is my fusion light this is kind of how I have helped it recover from pretty severe humidity stress you know you can see what these older this older leaf looks like and then it's found right next to it and then what it's looking like today and so you know as the leaves first come out they are the white is actually cream but you can see this is one of the first this is one of the first leaves to regrow it's just beautiful it is just God with the diffuser it is just absolutely beautiful good say this is a beautifully and so this is what I think attracts most of us to cool ideas are just the incredible variation that we find in foliage the colors the patterns the leaf shape it's just beautiful right up against Museo you can see it's just incredibly you know it's a plant that fills me with happiness I hope it fills you with happiness too so that's going to be it for today if you have anything that you'd like to see anything in my collection anything you'd like me to talk about specifically in a video go ahead and leave me a comment and I can try to get that done for you and until next time be well and take care [Music]
