Side that's been gracefully transformed into a stylish modern town home at 26 feet wide this is a true rarity in New York check out this enormous yet inviting open living room with a skylit sculptural staircase that floods the center of the house with light its scale makes it a fantastic place to entertain after more quiet moments head into this elegant library where you can cozy up to the wood-burning fireplace on the other end of the home is the formal banquet sized dining room the massive eat-in kitchen at the rear features glass doors that open unto a terrace where you can enjoy your morning coffee on those sunny summer days upstairs there are four serene bedrooms including the expansive master suite and the top floor features a solarium and paved roof deck guaranteed to be the social hub for friends and family alike care to flex your real-estate knowledge can you guess what they're asking for this 7,500 square foot townhome we revealed price at the end of the show but in the meantime reach out on our social platforms at open house TV with your estimates we are kicking off today's show at a loft space in sunny Santa Monica with LA based designer Jessica Arana Liu Jessica embraced an industrial look using reclaimed and repurposed materials and items but brought in a fun youthful vibe with eye-catching color and pattern throughout check it out hi I'm Jessica from Jessica I Romelu interior design here in Santa Monica California at my Marine Street loft project it's a fun open floor plan that was inspired by the eclectic community of Santa Monica and Venice it's such a fun project let's get started as you walk through the front door you're greeted by a bright orange colorblocked space it's fun and unexpected and creates a standalone space for the entry itself moving forward you'll find a fun graphic and colorful mud room where you can sit down take your shoes off ping your hat or drop the wet beach towels covering the windows are perforated metal privacy screens with overlaid patterns accentuated by light shining through and since the whole floorplan is open I tried to confine the spaces with installations here you'll find a glass bookshelf it's made from repurposed plumbing pipe finished and red industrial paint just beyond the mudroom wheel and in the dining area this space revolves around a massive French oak reclaimed table it features a custom banquette that I had built for the space opposite vintage chairs that we found while shopping locally the upholstery on the dining room chairs are original which I typically don't keep but in this case it worked so why changes the chandeliers above were custom designed made from antique repurposed megaphones this adds yet another unexpected quirky element to the home which is something my clients wanted another piece I have to mention just off to the side is a bar featuring a reclaimed wood post I made it my own by adding a streak of neon light running parallel up to the ceiling this room is unique and whimsical much like the neighbourhood and when it's time to relax everyone spills into the family room [Music] here you'll find two different seating areas the first is perfect for a meeting or a formal conversation the second is an informal space where you can kick your feet up and watch TV one of the coolest features is the wallpaper I designed its panels of linen hand silk-screened with a logo design using my clients initials off to the side is a spare bedroom that was built for my clients grandchildren it's small and sweet hence the cherry wallpaper and speaking of bedrooms we have to take a look at the master when I started this project my client requested we keep the colors of the walls and molding intact which gives a soft and romantic feel so we added a tall fabric headboard and as a nod to the rest of the home we installed tall playful suspension lamps which accentuates the ceiling height thank you so much for joining me on this tour I'm very fond of this project because it's vibrant much like the Southern California lifestyle see you next time coming up just after the break we are in Greenwich Village for a look at this beautifully appointed townhouse we'll be right back [Music] welcome back now we're in New York's Greenwich Village an idyllic Grove Street at this beautifully appointed home designed by brocco mez this was a gut renovation and every decision was made to both respect the character and history of the building while also bringing a timeless elegance and continental flair to the interiors Brooke explains the inspirations and shows us the results hi I'm Brooke of Brooke comas design and welcome to the West Village this house at 21 feet wide by a hundred feet deep affords you a proper house and garden and that's exactly what my client was looking for this building is a late Greek Revival townhouse built in the mid-to-late 19th century it was important to respect the bones and character of the house while modernizing it my clients like the openness of this entry because typical townhouses can be dark so it was really important from the beginning to flood this house with lights the library was intended for everything from watching a Knicks game to a cozy fire we were told to use the Morgan Library as inspiration for the catwalk so we constructed it out of bronze railings and a cast glass floor when I'm shopping with clients I always tell them don't forget to look up so what a treat to find the perfect fixture for our double-height living room when shopping for the furnishings in this living room scale was the most important thing and keeping with the theme of traditional and modern all our moldings trim and doors are period appropriate while the fireplace is a modern touch but my goal here in this room was really to make it feel comfortable and elegance and in the kitchen which is right off of the living room it was all about storage our clients actually wanted a very chef friendly kitchen so that means custom millwork with easy accessibility and an oversized marble island never hurts and the doors give you full access to the garden in the garden it was important to my clients that it have a French Provincial feel with attention paid to the greenery flowers and furnishings I wanted to make sure that this garden was perfect for intimate outdoor entertaining [Music] doing a gut renovation is always a challenge especially in a town house but with the furnishings lighting and window treatments I selected this is one of my favorite projects [Music] that home was surprising and inspiring and felt like one of those places that could only exist in New York right coming up in just a few we check out this modern homage to Hollywood Regency style architecture we'll be right back [Music] welcome back to open house now we take a look at this modern homage to Hollywood Regency style architecture nestled fittingly in the Hollywood Hills this stylish Lee designed home features epic views open entertaining areas and easy flow to the manicured outdoor spaces and plenty of natural light take a look hi guys I'm Farrah Brittany with the agency and today I'm super excited to show you one of my favorite properties 16:22 view Mont aka bode 1 so this property is five bedrooms eight bathrooms almost 9,000 square feet and just under one acre of land of course you're surrounded by panoramic views all around you on this promontory where you're floating above la I cannot wait to show it to you today so come on inside and take a look when you followed the flow of the open floor plan the space opens up and greets you with multiple living spaces a unique feature about this living room is a steel mobile art piece designed by Michael Muller and the statement piece of this living room is the two-way fireplace got Italian marble with leather inlay it is gorgeous [Music] as we make our way to the living room lounge and bar area you really start to notice the amazing use of different textures and materials it really brings that added warmth factor to the property so from the silk wall coverings the smoky black mirrors and the bar you can imagine serving up martinis to your guests while they swoon over than this does if martinis aren't your style look no further than the dining room or you've got a 480 bottle room temperature controlled wine storage when its wine o'clock there's no better place to gather around this dining room table enjoy a glass of wine make a toast and admire the Lausanne skyline remember when I was neat and cool just to even have one kitchen island well now we actually have to so this is the working island where you do all your cooking we've got a meal a induction burner and a hidden exhaust fan everything it's clean and seamless speaking of clean lines the appliances are discreetly camouflage within this beautiful black glass wall for a touch of elegance and practicality over here we have our sitting island made of slab granite with mica Spanish countertops it's perfect for your friends and family to sit and chat at my favorite features are the open window which lets the breeze and the sunlight in and these hydraulic cabinets meals in this kitchen can also be served alfresco in the adjacent garden dining area outside you can dine overlooking the west side of the hills or simply sit and enjoy the art and fire features the master suite is all about the moods we've got a serene sanctuary built with the indoor/outdoor experience in mind pull back the glass wall and enjoy a lovely lazy breeze and don't forget to take a nap under this custom accent wall I'm so excited that we're finally getting to my favorite part of the home the master bathroom this Hollywood Regency inspired bathroom is nothing short of spectacular everything is symmetrical drawing your eyes to a free-standing tub with a rejuvenating backdrop and the most striking and unique features of this room are the italian blue quartz tone as well as the 1942 antique chandelier from paris thank you guys so much I hope you enjoyed touring this home as much as I did showing it to you catch you on the next are you still curious about the price of this 7,500 square foot carriage house on the Upper East Side in New York well we will let you know at the end of the show but all guests are welcome on social media coming up in just a few how this designer brought a curated look to an apartment in one of the world's tallest residential buildings we'll be right back [Music] welcome back now we're in one of Midtown's most famous buildings 432 Park Avenue with new york-based interior designer Bill Mackintosh his client needed a stylish pietà tear in the city but wanted to avoid a complete renovation let's see how bill's subtle almost surgical decor choices created this smart stylish and sophisticated city retreat hello an interior designer bill Macintosh and welcome to 432 Park Avenue home to some of the most rarefied real estate in New York City today I want to take you on a tour of a pietà tear that despite its vertiginous altitude is firmly grounded in a smart sophisticated comfort come on let's take a look [Music] the elevator vestibule opens up to this beautiful center hole here we set the tone with over-scaled door casings a code ceiling and these unexpected raked plaster walls these reference traditional architectural elements which introduce a smart and sophisticated dialogue to the design and I love this monumental mirror the scale of it is outrageous these are all subtle one-of-a-kind details that capture your attention and give you a hint of what's to come [Music] but the gallery is just a prelude to this spectacular jaw-dropping living room the building's 10 foot by 10 foot square windows guarantee that every room is flooded with light and has these knock out forever views the hand tufted wool and silk carpet is an abstracted map of the city and defines the seating area from here you can settle into the stylish curve so that it floats above the floor or maybe one of the alpaca covered swivel chairs and for those of you who need to get really close to the view I installed mohair covered window seats right up against the glass other special touches include the illuminated Onyx bar top and the under lit steps and the result is a smart and stylish contemporary Sky Lounge it's five o'clock somewhere the dining table is designed to be as comfortable for four as it is for 14 the tables can be separated for smaller more intimate dinners or joined together for larger parties the table is a ceruse dope trimmed in brass the chairs are a custom design covered in gloves soft leather and the concave mirror above the banquette ensures that everybody gets a view I always like a library to be tailored and masculine and nothing does that better than wood paneled walls typically you might expect a paneled library to be dark and moody but given the amount of natural light that floods the space it was a better choice to go with a pale coloration to minimize the contrast with the outdoors the leather covered desks suspended within the window reveal is a nice place to get a little work done although you might find the view a little bit distracting but the views don't end here let me take you to the master I have to believe that every day starts off a little bit better with a view like this you feel like you're sleeping in the clouds to be honest you are thank you for letting me show you how we brought this sky-high apartment back down to earth by using elegant neutral coloration and rich comforting textures I look forward to seeing you soon [Music] don't go anywhere right after the break we see how this designer made her Chelsea rental into a one-of-a-kind family home [Music] welcome back to open house now we're in Chelsea with designer Tolly roth Tolly didn't let the fact that she lives in a rental stop her from creating a personalized home for her and her family check out all the unique touches she brought to this loft-like space large inviting furnishings durable materials pops of color and a cactus check this out [Music] hi I'm Tali interior-design our mother of two welcome to my Chelsea left the living space is the first thing you see when the elevator door opens we actually rent this space we don't own it which in some ways has presented challenges in other ways it actually allowed me to be more whimsical and less serious about my choices this is a huge space and so I didn't want to fill the entire space with furniture but I wanted it to feel considered and full it was this mix of trying to figure out how to pick the pieces that I wanted to invest in then kind of filling the gaps with things that you know and maybe a bit more flexible I can sell or I can give away when we're ready to move as you continue into the home you'll see the wooden frame house that I designed and made when I had my first son and it's basically a way for me to contain all the objects there's two woven bags of toys the table is used all the time for arts and crafts activities I purchased the cactus on a bit of a whim but it was quite genius when I brought it into the space trying to figure out where to put it and then I placed it next to the kids area and it looked brilliant and it's rubber so the kids can actually interact with it which makes me so happy because I definitely want to surround my kids with creativity and with color and with shape my dining table is the visual anchor of my open-plan living space I actually designed the table myself it's marble and steel I really wanted something that was easy to wipe down but still felt fancy I surrounded the table with mid-century modern chairs that I posted in a sage green velvet the nursery is the smaller space of the whole house but it is loaded with personality I handed canopy from the ceiling so that when you walked in your eye travels up I hand-painted murals all over the wall that you've got airplanes and trees and mountains I used a gorgeous vintage chair that I've always had my eye on as my nursing chair and I just wanted to make sure that each little piece that we had was considered whilst being somewhat practical and user friendly my older sons bedroom I had to figure out a way to transition it into a toddler bedroom so I created a custom extra-long bed with storage underneath [Music] the trick with any kids bedroom is to make sure that you feel like it's aesthetically pleasing using low-to-the-ground storage it's an easy place for your kid to help you clean up at the end of the night [Music] I hope you've enjoyed hearing about how I approach the design of MySpace and how I created a family-friendly environment that was high-end and chic and eclectic and cool we promised we'd reveal the price of this Upper East Side former carriage house artfully redesigned as a modern townhome any final guesses well here it is sorry close let us know on
