the trans am series presented by pirelli july 3rd at road america for round six of the ta2 championship of 2021. so we took an internet poll to see if you wanted somebody to announce this race or not and it was about 50 50. so what i've done if you just want to hear the sweet music of ta2 turn your stereo and pan everything to the left and that will be just the racing noise if you want to hear announcing put it in stereo because the announcing is going to come through on the right channel the official qualifying results for the ta2 round six at road america up front in p1 mike skeen followed by thomas merrill sam mayer in third connor mossack fourth austin green fifth scott borchetta sixth ty gibbs seventh edwards of asian eighth rhett barco ninth and riley herb's tenth and eleventh is nicholas hammond adam andretti roberto savato elias anderson christopher bell adrian lostofsky evan pecor ryan newman keith prochuk and in 20th tyler cassera 21st is barry bowes followed by doug peterson harrison burton aaron pierce tom sheehan doug winston mark austin maurice hall william moore and in 30th patrick utt and 31st is bruce raymond followed by bruce nesbitt tim gray mark brummond patrick paul and then starting 36th because of a wreck and practices austin dillon and starting at the back of the field points leader in ta2 rafa matos due to a technical infraction i'm going to try to lay out as much as i can i'm going to explain things as they go along and i hope you enjoy this race ta2 at road america and green green green here we go ta2 road america we're on board right now with mike skeen and his liqui molly turn 14 distribution stevens miller chevrolet camaro and p1 looking at thomas merrill and p2 right there on board with thomas merrell e4 position five right behind conor moosa it's an honor to have so many drivers from different series like nascar and xfinity joining us for this race they've come around turns six and seven at road america there back on board with sam mayer from wisconsin come around the carousel [Music] [Applause] ty gibbs looks to the inside of connor mosak makes the pass so does austin green around conor moses go around turn 14 to the long uphill long straightaways of road america [Music] now we're on board with ryan newman [Music] [Applause] looking on their berry bows it looks like [Music] so [Applause] breaking into turn five behind ty gibbs ty gibbs is in that red mike cove mustang ty gibbs getting alongside thomas merrill teammates who might go race cars look at that mosaic around ty gibbs ty and austin greene side by side there's the turn eight followed by scott in that big machine spike coolers machine ty gibson car [Applause] ty gives double duty this weekend with his xfinity race [Applause] so mike skeen in one sam mayer second thomas merrill followed by connor bowser and now we're on board with connor mosak canada corner [Applause] back on with ty gibbs [Music] [Applause] thomas merrill seems to be having some power issues with his mustang must be a mechanical we're looking at the leader right there mike skeen followed by sam mayer connor mosaic ty gibbs austin green and scott borchetta right there behind that's riley herbs rhett barco evan pecor harrison burton lots of big-name drivers in this we watch ryan newman come around turn one making a pass on edwards [Applause] coming into turn three downhill back on board i'm trying to be minimal here because i love the sound of these cars so i'm filming from turn five austin green joining us kind of came out of nowhere but man is he fast really fun to watch austin green looking to the inside of ty gibbs i guess bridge coming around the carousel really good racing from newcomer austin green and ty gibbs right there there's your leaders mike skeen sam mayer connor making up a lot of ground on his first couple of laps back on board with austin greene so like schemes really getting a big gap between he and sam mayer here up front as riley herbs looks inside thomas merrill [Music] [Applause] really gave us a great show in mid-ohio a couple weeks ago as now we're on board with rent barco with marco here running with us this weekend as we watch rafa matos right behind ryan newman proclamation is our points leader in ta2 had to start at the back of the pack due to a technical infraction making his way through three-dimensional services group coming around the carousel right behind keith's project as we go to our leaders mike skeen still complete followed by sam mayer followed by conor mcgregor now austin green fifth place battle for fourth right here coming around to the corner side by side coming on the outside of 14 is austin green really showing us something here we have a wheel with ty gibbs as they go up the hill it's got little shadow right behind them awesome right behind them [Applause] [Music] fourth place followed by austin green now we're on board with scott borchetta he's got more shadow having a really good run here awesome green around it very difficult turn three ty gibbs was with us a couple of times in um 2019 and now he raced with us at charlotte really good ta2 driver as tigers he's having a great run there with austin green that's ty and the red mustang followed by austin green in that camaro followed by scout and that's fine coolers big machines fight cooler forward mustang number 48 after his hero dan gurney this is quite a battle here for fourth fifth and sixth place on board with austin greene this is one of austin green's first road race as a man and he's showing us quite a bit of talent this is very impressive to stay with somebody like ty gibbs and scott burchetta and your first road race here [Music] right there matos is right behind adrian lostofsky making a move there on riley herbst going way outside the canada corner two for one for rafa matos as we ride on board with adrian lost in that hot performance fast auto chevrolet camaro adrian lostofski has really gotten fast in this ta2 series back on board with austin greene and his m1 car looks like austin might be able to make the pass here nope ty takes it back from them going into turn one gateman stamping qps m1 slr chevrolet camaro coming into turn three back on board in that big machine vodka spike cooler ford mustang of scott borchetta getting a good draft coming down this long straightaway austin green to his right might be able to make the pass here scott borchetta coming into turn five see if he can hold it look at that he forces austin green way outside off balance it's a good move right there by the number 48 [Music] mustang fred barcow kevin p and then rafa matas looks to be right behind harrison burton and that's tyler cassera there in that green car but you're used to seeing michael's cell phone [Applause] so if that looks odd to you road america they make hot holes they will bring their uh rescue vehicles out on the track and pull the cars out while the track is hot saving us a lot of time makes for some really good racing we really appreciate the apple road america i love the sounds here at canada corner there you go the leaders back on board now austin green chasing scott borchetta scott having a great run here in fifth place he and ty kipps they were uh neck and neck in our charlotte race earlier in the year it looks like they're gonna be the battle to watch this race as well back on board with austin green shot of our leaders tiger sports scott borchetta fifth austin green austin green has lost power oh no that's unfortunate he was doing so well sorry about that austin as we ride on board now with rafa matos [Music] rafa was telling me at the grid he's got to be so patient because everything he's doing is for the championship with three-dimensional services group so he's he wants to be on the podium that he's gonna have to pass 36 cars to get there as we look at sam mayer here hometown boy from i believe franklin wisconsin he's also racing in the xfinity series here this weekend and there's rafa matos side by side [Music] actually i'm sorry i've been calling him harrison burton that's christopher bell there in the 75 car ryan newman racing with christopher bell [Applause] alex wright looks like right behind right in front of [Applause] um a lot of fun to see he's a really camaro new to the series but man he is showing us a lot of talent we expect to see evan on the podium here soon with pa2 i give scott borchetta still going at it we really miss austin green and pulled off there at turn five with mechanical unfortunate for austin green but boy did he show us some talent catching up stevens miller camaro coming down the hill might skate the tactician sam mayer the youth san mares had some really good drives with us here in ta2 daytona a few years ago this year he won at charlotte really good ta-2 driver also in the xfinity series i think just got a full-time ride in the infinity series we expect to see him in cub here soon coming into tourney samara and that yen stamping qpsm on slr chevrolet camaro as we're riding on board right now with mike skeen look at how smooth mike is through this carousel really difficult section of the track especially coming into the kink look at how close this wall is to the side it looks like a tunnel now i feel like it's conor moses there behind sam mayer and sam america work as a team and draft each other joining us inside in fact look at the front end of his car he's got something right there on the grill but he got close enough to blow it away good move from sam mayer that car looks to be set up really well made contact there coming up behind double pass maybe from conor we're on board with conor mossack and there it is conor moses the pass two teammates working together there to pass the 2020 ta2 champion mike distribution chevrolet camaro but a chevy chevy chevy up front at road america finally still got that local yellow [Music] now if connor mosaic can get behind sam mayer and they can draft like teammates i feel like they can pull a gap on my scheme [Music] around here the two mustangs got more shadows got a better line there through kettlebells and then there he is ladies and gentlemen rafa mottos i don't know how he's done it so quick and just 10 laps really hoping for a yellow flag if you look at evan now this is for sixth seventh and eighth place overall [Applause] [Applause] almost 160 there and then hard on the brakes into turn one [Applause] [Applause] side get it done though [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] motorsports.com challengers got a pretty good gap telemetry there sideways [Music] that's where the weight is going in his car i feel like right now they're doing what scott legacy jr told me these two two teammates connor mosaic sam mayer if they can work together they could probably pull a gap on mike's scheme they seem to be doing just that racing smart here with the team slr m1 team right here one of those drivers that we know we're going to see in the xfinity series or nascar indycar just 22 years old right there in the mirrors of sam mayer really talented driver [Music] doing a really good of old job track experience and he's trying to get as much road racing experience as he can and i tell you what he is a very good road racer really well balanced driver on board with our leader sam mayer looks like one of his gps locators has become unadhered on the dashboard if that doesn't distract them this is where they need to draft each other work together two cars are faster than one on these long straights there's ta2 champion current points leader three-dimensional services group there's ty gibbs and scott borchetta goes wide there turns six that's a really tough turn as rafa matos a good recovery though from scott marchetta keep it on the track and live to fight another day just looks hooked up as red marcos pulling again [Applause] [Music] going through all the gears [Music] and already in fifth place is rafa matos will be right on board with rafa here's our leader sam mayer connor mosaic and mike steen there's william moore there behind them followed by bruce raymond [Music] and now there's fourth place tie kids fifth place rafa matos there right behind him in sixth place watch her off his hands looks like his car is really set up though he looks very relaxed [Applause] so [Applause] you can see him really fighting the wheel there through the carousel oh my right behind see if mike can make a pass here at canada corner the lap traffic does what we actually got out of the way thank you good stuff the last car he needs to overtake to make it his goal is to make the podium as far back as he had to start that was a really tough feat he's just waiting and hoping for a double yellow but i tell you what road america is one of the toughest courses for double yellow because the safety crew is so good at retrieving cars there's rafa he sees ty gibbs ty gibbs currently in fourth place coming down to turn three hard on the brakes when does he get the power midway through right at the apex he's back on the power [Music] mike skeen catching up to connor moss out there [Applause] turn six [Applause] connor [Music] so [Music] right ahead of them i gotta give it up for ty gibbs and sam mayer and all the drivers that were in the xfinity race the infinity race was about an hour and a half long right before this race so they jumped out of their xfinity cars and got in this ta2 car they've got to be tired this is a really tiring track lots of g-forces lots of shifting and downshifting that would not be fun to jump right out of a stock car and get into a ta2 car but i think i'd do it it's a hot day here in wisconsin as well look connor mossack there coming on the race hall now that's maurice hall right there right behind and in between second place connor most hacker might ski and mike skeen gets five by now i'm sure all the drivers are wondering where that double yellow full course collection is this has been a long race so far getting ever closer to ty gibbs coming into turn eight now watch him feather the throttle here in his hands through the carousel oh there he goes right at the kink must be having some mechanicals is we're at 17 or 25 laps again this is a long race without a full course caution and i know rafa right now is really hoping for that because rafa has the fastest car the other driver we haven't yet mentioned is austin dillon who had to start in the back he had it off at practice and they had to spend the overnight rebuilding his car he didn't get to qualify so we look at patrick gutt coming down into turn five there's harrison burton there sam mayer our leader coming up on harrison burton who was also in that xfinity race earlier on today just about an hour before this race and there is rafa matos can almost see the podium in his sights followed by mark grumman and there's scott borchetta currently in fifth place at road america brett barco is sixth place and then challenger seventh place is evan pecor and that metallic blue camaro and there he is there's austin dillon somehow coming from the back with rafa didn't get to spend much time austin dylan now we're on board with adrian but austin knew it didn't get much practice time doing really well [Applause] on board is [Applause] [Applause] oh brett marco with some lap traffic getting slowed down a little bit mmp marco [Music] that's not going to be happy about that barfvillecars.com [Music] i believe rhett barco and the dodge challenger is a chrysler dodge jeep and ram dealer out of upper illinois he's in his mopar himself [Applause] i think any other track we go to that would have been a full course caution and i know some of these drivers are wishing for if you look at adrian lostofsky right about right next to side drafting rhett barco here on this long straightaway to turn five oh and austin dylan gets by as well maybe not there's austin dillon side by side here coming into five right next to rhett barco k l ready mix it's an honor to have austin dillon racing with us here this weekend coming in as a spoiler on board with austin dillon [Music] back on board with rhett barco who and just that one lap lost three or four positions gonna gather it back up here red's a really good driver especially in this challenger he's got a really good season here with us in ta2 [Music] a little bit wide coming into the king here they come now adriana [Applause] that's the number 11 of mark austin there on the left [Applause] [Music] phil's trailer set i love the hills [Music] 19 to 25 laps so there's a local yellow there which means nobody can pass under the local yellow so they they slow down and turn one that's why they're slowing down for that car on the left there just looks like they did everything they're supposed to do back on board austin dillon kml radiant ready mix m1 slr field chevy camaro making a pass really impressed with what we're seeing from austin dillon here in that m1 chassis adrian has to let him go through a little side draft and austin dillon should know quite a bit about side drafting not sure how he feels about passing the number three going up the hill into six adrian lostofsky number three [Applause] [Music] the big gap between the leaders there that was one two and three there's fourth place right there rafa matos who is begging for a full force yellow i bet you when he comes by turn one and sees that there good there and then this blue camaro haven't peaked he's outbreaking austin dylan [Applause] so [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] so [Applause] just to get more experience it's been a long time since nascar's been to road america before either one of them were born actually as we look austin dillon coming inside of evan p court according to what i'm seeing that should put austin dillon in sixth place unbelievable drive from austin dylan so there's your leader stand there here's second and third here connor mosaic followed by coming into the corner taking a really late i'm getting word from connor's team that he's having a really difficult time breathing and maybe some fumes are getting into the cockpit but he's just not able to catch his breath so we're gonna be keeping an eye here on conor mosak it's really tough to drive it's really hot outside and then if you're just breathing in fumes that's really difficult we're gonna keep an eye here on connor currently in second place there's our leader sam baird from the beautiful state of wisconsin the england stamping gps followed by connor mosak and that nick taylor card followed by mike skeen in that beautiful liquid molly turn 14 distribution stevens miller camaro that's one two three right there [Music] [Music] austin dillon currently in [Music] sixth place oh oh evan peacock gets sideways adrian lostofsky takes him got a local yellow here at the carousel not sure why but evan peacourt's getting a little bit there's one right there uh foreign sam mayer's car is sounding really good i'm not sure what the team is telling him he's got kind of a gap but do you tell him to slow down a little bit and take it easy or is he in a perfect rhythm where he you don't want to mess them up so we look at conor mossack fighting up the hill on board with connor mosak complaining of not being able to breathe very well i've heard from the scott legacy team that they're looking into it there's borchetta so somewhere between mike skeen and borchetta is rafa matos and there's austin dillon look at this he is really making up some ground i don't think there's anybody here on track that wants a full course yellow more than him because with the restart he might be up there possibly the sun is going down they're getting some crazy reflections right in front of him [Music] from here car beautiful car [Applause] i spoke to ryan newman earlier he's having a blast in these ta2 cars as an engineer he really likes seeing how they handle with these queens a little bit of downforce that they have over his stock cars now sam mayer coming into five it's his race to lose now [Music] on board with conor moser still a local yellow here through the carousel section so mike can't pass through here love that sound oh oh god why can't he recover tries to get back on the power up connor mosaic oh hits the wall connor mozak with just a few laps to go and second place hits the wall that's mike skein going up the hill followed by rafa matos so now it's sam mayer mike skeen rafa matos oh that is unfortunate for conor unlike him i wonder if that had something to do with his uh he was saying he couldn't breathe or was getting fumes because that he doesn't make a mistake like that conor mosak is a very steady driver unfortunate connor mossad in the slr team as we're on board with his teammate sam mayer currently leading this race by quite a margin barely see mike skiing in his rear view here now [Music] that might bring out a caution depending on uh the safety workers there because conor mosak hit the wall there at 14 and the entry into 14. i don't know how far back he came on the grass that might create a full force caution which would work in the favor of austin dillon and rappamatos and right now sam mayer is hoping that doesn't happen as he comes into turning listen to this car this is really good news for sam mayor if you've been following along last year here in the ta2 race there was a bad wreck at the kink the next right-hander he's about to go into and his car caught on fire he got out of the car without being hurt but the car burned to the ground basically right there where we are now it's good to have sam mayor back and ta2 doing so well after such an unfortunate incident that he did not cause last year i don't think that gps thing was distracting him on the dash but it sure has distracted me there's his teammate there to the right local yellow and he's right there on the eighth fret of the track i know sam likes to see that loafy yellow but i'm sure skeen raffa and austin dillon scott borchetta are yelling for full force caution two more laps to go here at road america and sam there is up to a what i would call a comfortable lead that's mike in second place there's our third place all the way from the back of rafa unbelievable drive from our points [Music] scott borchetta scott should be happy to be fourth place in ta2 at road america on his birthday weekend nonetheless followed by austin dillon fifth place adrian lost his sixth place according to what i'm seeing here kevin people red mark and then there's ryan newman on the lead lap in his first ta2 race that's really impressive patrick maurice hall there's our iron man tom sheehan and the yellow mustang back on board with sam mayer a couple more times through that kink i know he probably doesn't really like this part of the track because of last year's incident smooth drive from sam mayer really impressed with sam mayer and the talent that he has [Music] these pirelli tires have taken a beating there's the local yellow there for his teammate connor mosaic he's gonna have to duck up here behind and bruce raymond can't pass him until after the incident good smart move there by sam mayer and he made that pass it would have cost him a lot of time last lap ladies and gentlemen let's just listen in beautiful sound of sam mayer's car [Music] [Music] [Applause] so so so let's see if sam plays a smart here because the local yellow is here on the left you can see him waving that right there actually they were waving the blue flag so he can pass looks like they cleared him up yeah nice job road america they cleared him up so he could make that pass freely one more car to get around and he takes the checkered flag wisconsin's own sam mayer sam mayer takes the chair flag at his home state mike skeen second place great run by mike skeen for the points here comes and let's see who's gonna take it between scott borchetta or austin dillon this is for fourth place if it's scott marchetta this is the highest he's finished yet and ta2 there it is it's got more shadows machine spike coolers he's going to be happy about that ta2 with this pro amp series how does it feel i mean it feels great i can't thank all the fans friends and family for coming out i appreciate it so much but man the win here that's huge i've been wanting to win here for like the last three years and that's a long time for me that's like a eighth of my life or something like that so yeah i clicked math i guess something like that but it was it's awesome well the scott legacy team team slr really showed up well you and connor did i thought you guys were really smart at the front to work as a team and then he kind of fell off and you just took off yeah i finally was just like hey we have enough fuel we're good
