[Music] week five a college football final begins with some fun and fantastic finishes norfolk state taking on hampton juan cater 1 yard td lead but in the end zone in overtime norfolk state wins 44-41 have another look leap over ball breaks the plane let's go barn burner let's go you thought that one was good wait till i show you marist and valpo in overtime there is down three austin days gonna find max mazzella 25 yards for the go ahead touchdown and marist wins 27-24 but the receivers on this side didn't even move they didn't need to yeah they just want to watch the play too now to our top story florida state had yet to win a game coming into the season taking on syracuse they need to win jordan travis i don't know what the syracuse defense is doing here but jordan travis was amazing i feel like every time we see florida state play quarterbacks are running for their lives jordan travis really good at it that was an unbelievable good sets up the game-winning field goal we do not have a college kicker situation and with that florida state gets their first win 33-30 and we say hello to you the beautiful people on college football final welcome in jesse palmer joey galloway matt berry alongside september was a great month in college football but october the first weekend of it was a monster weekend for monster setups in the sec but you always have to be aware of the upset and that's where we begin out west in the pac-12 between oregon and stanford mario cristobal trying to avoid the upset in this one early on 17-7 anthony brown over the middle good shot there oregon was down 10-0 in this game they're starting to claw their way back to get in it here comes cj verdell off the left side all of a sudden oregon was so impressive no joe moore had their offensive coordinator out with a non-covered related illness so you figured it was only a matter of time before oregon would get going verdell would leave with an injury and again the ducks continuing to move the ball so it sets it up again here we go fourth quarter game close tied the game at 17 apiece brown over the middle here go the docs get it to your athletes out in space break the tackle big plays that's what we know this organ offense they have play makers on the outside it can go the distance you guys only knew it was a matter of time before they would get going now second and goal anthony brown's gonna keep it himself and guys all of a sudden oregon's got the lead one of his greatest attributes this year has been running the football especially down in the red zone but we said stanford has been different since tanner mckee took over at quarterback under two minutes to play one timeout they start moving down the field oregon's a top 10 team get your defense on the field get a stop and close it out on this drive mckee was so good low snap composes himself falls incomplete he actually gets hurt here have another look high low from kayvon that's important to know kayvon thibodeaux back in the lineup for oregon the best pass rusher in college but you know what mckee shakes it off he's back in it slings it over the middle first and ten move the chains ball's still going mario crystal ball watching on now fourth and goal this was big they go fade they went fade five straight times but gentlemen they called defensive holding why is that big because they get an underwater time down elijah higgins 6-3 225 go up and get it big fella and stanford forces overtime we go to the extra period 24 all stanford ball first hey go right back hey let's go back to the fade that's just what they do in our offense they're going to try to throw fate guess what they're going to do here third and 11 go to the end zone watch this effort john humphreys 6'5 fakes the fade and runs the slant touchdown stance extra point good crystal ball in the ducks get it last fourth and eight last chance for anthony brown and after going into columbus and after living dangerously against arizona oregon goes to stanford and loses final score 31-24 and stanford loved it yes [Applause] that loss for third-ranked orbit just sets up a wild wild saturday let's head to notre dame stadium notre dame cincinnati tyler buckner back to pass picked off by desean pace 27-yard return it's been a theme of the notre dame offensive line all season long not protecting their quarterback in this costume three plays later third and goal from the one desmond ritter to leonard taylor bearcats play action fake it sucks all those notre dame defenders up for a wide open target so under a minute left 10-0 first and ten desmond ritter pass complete straight tucker 27-yard touchdown cincinnati leads 17-0 going into the half first time since 2011 that notre dame has failed to score in the first half here's brian kelly you're evaluated for every snap that you play in this second half we're in a notre dame jersey and you're gonna play it the right way or you're not going to plot period end of discussion all right evaluation begins for all of us third quarter first and ten ritter nowhere to go with the ball fumbles it all of a sudden notre dame has lost all cincinnati has to do at this stage is just take care of the football a defensive turnover you take it back now notre dame has a chance to get momentum to get back in and they do just that joe here kyron williams after the big turnover ball to 38 they move the ball notre dame at the three kyran takes it in three yard touchdown gentlemen we have ourselves a football game notre dame cuts the lead 17-7 now in the fourth quarter same score notre dame of the 32 it turned into drew pines game and what a pass here to braden lynch cincinnati just missed a field goal drew pine comes in nice job the back shoulder throwing a better job by braden lindsay turning around locating it here come the irish extra point no good down four under seven to play this is where cincinnati showed me something on saturday they responded and this is what we'll talk about they're on the road they had a 17 nothing lead notre dame comes back gets momentum can you answer cincinnati and they do just that with the ritter touchdown he goes three for three throwing it on the drive runs this one in quiets the crowd how about it cincinnati gets the win luke fickle loves it i told coach kelly after the game i said we're only trying to build on what you really started here and what you kind of what standards you set here and um you know for since we've been here we've been talking about having a chance to be a top 10 program and the way you can do that is over over time and at some point in time you've got to be a top 10 team in a top 10 program and today we didn't we didn't just be the top ten team we beat a top five program hey man got a five-hour job don't feel whole [Applause] look at cincinnati look at desmond ritter win the locker room on the field brilliant six of nine 201 yards and a touchdown on passes thrown 15 plus yards downfield his second most such completion in a game in his career by comparison notre dame's qb just to attend upcoming schedule for notre dame or cincinnati rather they get their first win against an ap top 10 team since 2006. it doesn't look great i mean you can point at ucf perhaps i mean maybe smu at that point but gentlemen cincinnati can't control that they control the controllables which was going into notre dame and getting the win against a top 10 team after already beating indiana what does this mean before the season we talked about if they could go on the road get the indiana win go on the road get the notre dame win they're in the conversation unfortunately the way this works we now look at the rest of their schedule ucf is two and two not ranked smu not ranked moving forward cincinnati has to be dominant they have to blow out their opponents on their schedule because obviously cincinnati's in a position where things are working out for them if you look at what the other teams don't clemson getting out of the way oregon losing ohio state hasn't with one loss things are looking in their favor but now with the remaining schedule they have to be very impressive because there's no ranked wins left if there was ever a season for a group of five team to make the playoff though this has to be it yeah stars are aligning for cincinnati right now and really it started last year i think finishing number eight in the college football playoff ranking that put the committee on alert they're watching this football team so you got to handle their business and they go out they beat indiana indiana's not last year's indian no no but it's very impressive going on the road and beating notre dame and snapping their 26-game win streak so joey mentioned it now you got to beat the rest of the teams you got to do it convincingly maybe ucf and smu will be ranked they might play one of those teams again in the conference title game maybe notre dame will keep winning it'll make this resume look good but all these good teams are starting to lose so ohio state oregon florida's gone down clemson's not what we're used to penn state or iowa will go down next week as well if there was a year for it to happen in a 14 playoff format for a group of five to make it in this has to be the year for cincinnati and in the process cincinnati snapped notre dame's 26-game home winning streak that was just the start of a brilliant saturday the sec had some big ones we thought alabama ole miss would be competitive because of the offenses nick saban 23-0 against his former alabama assistants 21 of those wins by two plus touchdown lane kiffin and saban probably having an awkward conversation beforehand they shake hands all good bryce young matt corral heisman trophy co-favorite squaring off fourth and three alabama territory henry parish this america's virtual lock by the way they had ole miss plus the points an aggressive start yeah the beginning with this drive they're going forward to realize they're gonna have to put up a lot of points to beat this alabama but here they go again fourth down paris junior conversion so ole miss strategy is clear early so there was no mistake what they were going to do well no lane kippen's thinking temple's going to help you got jerry and ely 185 pound running back not going to get it done and bama was waiting on it so they pounce on the opportunity no points out of ole miss after a brilliant first drive here bryce young john nancy 16-yard td and here's the problem when you don't get points on that first drive alabama goes right back down the field 90 some yards get in the end zone and now the offense is rolling seven nothing lead now to the second quarter fourth and goal for alabama savings like you know what if you can do it i can do it i've got better players brian robinson coming off of a rib injury he got the start he was tough running between the tackles alabama was the more physical team this highlight all about the fourth downs here corral running the option eely swallowed up yeah and they tried inside didn't work so they try outside alabama's defense was prepared so played as well as they've played all season so guess what happens again that was a fourth and one no good here's a fourth and one for alabama young to cameron and ole miss can't stop the run so look at all 11 players settle out to try and do that and they slip lotto in from behind so alabama at this point rolling 21 nothing it seems like every time we turn on our tv or watch an alabama game they're up 21-0 opening drive third quarter young clean in the pocket netchy frozen rope first down yeah when you say it clean i mean there was no one close and it was like this a lot of the time today brett young was 20 of 26 but very comfortable in the pocket nobody near it and you know what brian robinson's good at one yard touchdown he was a workhorse guys 36 carries for number four lanes like you can't stop him fourth quarter 35 nothing as jess said you know what we're gonna do he doesn't just score on one year touchdowns he can get hard first downs as well yeah and this is the physicality part of the game at this stage or in the fourth quarter ole miss defense has worn out they've been pounded and they just have nothing for the physicality the ability of notre alabama to run between the tackles beat down alabama rolls here's the coaches [Music] it's a great win they have a good team they have a lot of good players and they're very well coached elaine does a really good job with them and their players played hard and it was a physical game and you know i'm really proud of the way our guys competed in the game reason their number one team in the country and you know coming here and playing for a hundred thousand said all week you know you got to do everything right to give yourself a chance and obviously we didn't do that back to the drawing board for kiffin save it has been untouchable when taking on his former assistance as coach of alabama seven-time national champion coach 23-0 against coaches he has staffed over the years in tuscaloosa after arriving there nearly 15 years ago all right so no drama in that one the noon kickoff college game day jt daniels game time decision that face says it all we were gonna get stetson bennett first drive for georgia hand off samir white this thing was physical from the get-go america lost their first virtual lock they've got arkansas plus the points this decided early yeah zamir white's good between the tackles james cook good outside georgia they established the line of scrimmage and what they established was gonna be a running game it was gonna be physical and it was gonna be a beat down up front georgia early seven nothing lead next possession bennett financial pass place that's i like it yeah seven of 11 in this game only seven completions for 72 yards but it didn't matter guys really no need to throw it because you just line up quick huddle kendall milton 273 yards rushing but check this play out again down by the goal line kirby smart bringing in two defensive linemen you got jordan davis a 340 pound nose guard there on the right side 99 check out jalen carter number 88 at fullback he's going to block three arkansas razorbacks on this play and clear the way for kendall milton guys coming into the game we knew george's defense had allowed less than six points a game 5.8 they were dominant they really were and this is the arkansas team we watched go against texas a m last week they were throwing the ball downfield big plays they were physical not today this defense was too much you know what i love about georgia offense defense special teams and their best players play on special teams blocked punt recovered by zamir white funky punt punt formation by arkansas big gaps up the middle the offset snap it's blocked there by dan jackson sameer white the starting tailback jumps on guys i should point out that was just the first quarter arkansas hadn't allowed any point to the first quarter all season 21-nothing after the first quarter after that it was all dog all the time zamir wide up the gut georgia blanks him 37 nothing afterwards holly rowe with kirby smart the victorious coach [Music] this was the biggest test you've had perhaps so far number eight team coming in here playing well what did your team do to dominate 30 patients remember we talked about patience so patience gives you the ability to recover from anything and this is a good football team we beat okay they got a really good football team sam's done a tremendous job but so do we and i'm so proud for the university of georgia and our fans today holly they were elite because at 12 o'clock they affected the game and that's special georgia 15 since 1950 to score 200 plus points to allow 25 or fewer points through its first five games joining the 2001 virginia tech 1993 florida state 79 alabama 56 oklahoma florida state alabama oklahoma all won the national title that season jesse i'll start with you what stood out about the tide bama defense they were sick and tired of hearing how they gave up 647 yards against ole miss last year so they hold the rebels to under 300 in this one and it was total domination physical up front they completely shut the running game down made ole miss one dimensional they showed off their speed they were able to get after the quarterback i loved how they stopped the run pass option plays db's contesting 50 50 balls in one-on-one throws they rallied to the ball they're getting great play at the inside linebacker spot christian harris and the tennessee transfer henry toho they've been special that was a positional uh area i think that has hurt this defense early on seasons and years past but right now this defense playing lightsaber that's alabama from the ole miss game you want to talk about georgia and their domination of arkansas what stood out to you uh you could talk about a lot of different areas of what uh what they did in this game and if you told me that jt daniels didn't play and then stetson bennett played and he went seven of 11 for 72 yards with no touchdowns you would assume that georgia struggled but they didn't because of the run game they had the ball for 13 more minutes in arkansas because they were physical you mentioned earlier they ran it for 273 yards and it's the way they did it they came out in the very first drive of this game and ran it down their throats and set the tone for the entire game look you can have all the game plan you want arkansas comes with a 326 defense so they're smaller they're quicker they're faster when you start running it down someone's throat doesn't matter the game plan is out the window because you can't get tougher during a game and georgia made sure of that early on and throughout the game that they're going to prove they're just a more physical football team and they absolutely stole the soul of arkansas on this one still hard to believe they've only allowed 23 points throughout the entire season and one of those is on a pick six so it really isn't even a mark against the defense it's established alabama and georgia the two best teams in the country we're just getting started here on college football final with spencer ratner find his swag on the road against kansas state plus florida they went into kentucky a place they haven't lost since the 80s what would happen with big blue nation we are off and running this is college football final [Music] getting his big paw up he gets the block trevin wallace does the right guys he was already loud in lexington but this set the stadium into an absolute frenzy that they wouldn't let down anytime soon fourth quarter chris rodriguez junior after writing this after kentucky got an interception chris rodriguez junior fifth leading rusher in fps coming into this game had 99 yards it was a 20 to 10 lead in the fourth quarter florida fans in attendance can't believe with the wildcat feeling good about it fourth quarter this is going to be the game sealing drive for florida or the game-winning drive for kentucky here copeland slips the screen he thinks he scores but take a look again the right knee goes down they would look at it and they would give them the ball back at the nine yard line guys then it got sloppy there was a false start so second and goal emery runs into his own player yeah this isn't last year's florida offense team this is a run first offense it's tough when you get penalties in the red zone the play call in here though third and goal jesse i just what were they calling well florida had nine tries in goal to go situations to win this game so you got to give kentucky's defense a lot of credit because their backs were against the wall and now out of the timeout fourth and goal florida needs a td and what do you got here's the ball play yeah you gotta throw this on time you gotta get to the back of the end zone give kentucky their credit kentucky's defense makes the huge stop they beat florida for the first time at home since 1986 the 10th ranked gators go down and mark stoops loves the effort out of his guys that's pretty special to get what what was that eight stops eight eight stops made basically there at the end uh really incredible shows a lot of toughness and resiliency great win guys i shouldn't be surprised we've seen upsets throughout the season this saturday no different mississippi state a mississippi state 17-13 will rogers makai paul 20 yards what rogers did he had a helmet sticker type game threw the ball 59 times for 408 yards here comes zach calzada who has struggled since taking over his aggie starting quarterback here the 25-yard td and i think you're seeing perfect reason why he struggled always pressuring his face the o-line doesn't protect very well two minutes to go in the fourth quarter two-point game you cannot do this this defense can stop the run they can get after and ever since will rogers became the quarterback at the end of last season this has been a different team a m starts owen two and conference play for the first time since 2012 the year they joined the scc big 12 matchup undefeated teams ranked baylor oklahoma state spencer sanders with shot owens 32-yard touchdown up 14-0 spencer sanders is a heck of a quarterback when he takes care of the football had three interceptions in this game guys this is kind of a body blow body blow game it was 14 nothing for a while late third quarter abram smith takes the pitch 55 yards later this is on fourth and two baylor prides themselves on being a physical offense running the ball they didn't run it great in this game with the exception of that run by abrams it got quiet and still water quick his early fourth quarter scores 17 to seven baylor a long drive one yard line gary bohannon punches it in all of a sudden baylor down just 17-14 late fourth quarter same score we've got a game in stillwater oklahoma state red zone sanders bootleg 10-yard gain sanders very athletic does a nice job getting outside the pocket and wisely tucks it away now you might want to slide and i'll take that hit but i love the call by mike gundy to go forward on fourth and two i get the impression we still don't know who oklahoma state is all we know is they are undefeated 24-14 the final 5-0 for the first time since 2015. what about oklahoma on the road taking on kansas state up the gut touchdown oklahoma jeremiah hall oklahoma takes a 34-17 lead ensuing kickoff malik knows 93 yards later two things were great for kansas state in this game one skyler thompson came back from a knee injury and threw three touchdown passes but two great plays on special teams ever since the great bill snyder at kansas state you know they're going to do that malik knowles takes that kick ninety three you know what people didn't love about that after the onsides kick back door cover man yeah yeah oklahoma's won three straight games by seven points or fewer make of that what you will nc state coming off the huge win against clemson ricky person junior 24 yards for the get off and person had 15 cares for 90 yards this one's physical to get into the end zone wolf pack you wonder if they'd have a little bit of a letdown austin kendall complete the griffin hey bear who manned his way into the end zone for him kendall he's been everywhere oklahoma west virginia now louisiana tech nice job there louisiana tech fighting back kendall again oh i mean he got it there second interception of the game dave thornton at nc state you can't beat clemson and then lose the next week for them they didn't 34-27 final one of these sneaky good games in the early window wake forest is undefeated dave claussen has them playing great football in the first half sam hartman for taylor moore 42 yard td tyson big fan of sam hartman four years he's been in the program we've seen a lot of defense he can read coverage and get the ball out on time louisville jumped out in this one wake had to come back here malik cunningham to amari huggins bruce 10-yard tv lee cunningham is an outstanding athlete but he has a really good arm also here comes wake again sam hartman oh what a dime regains the lead so under four minutes left in the game malik cunningham's pass to tyler harrell 75. man he was huge had two rushing touchdowns to bring his total to 10 on the year but he was throwing darts himself nice job hitting his receiver in stride college kicker situation no sir wayne forest third 5-0 start over the last 20 seasons what a start for the demon deacons they are loving it so boston college in death valley could they take out clemson kobe pace he's the guy now how about that got a hundred yards in this game that is the first time this season the clemson running back has gone over 100 yards and shocking without will they were able to do that seven nothing lead then dennis gross will pass complete to joey the teddy thirty-nine i know you're gonna play clemson you're gonna be under a lot of duress nice job by grosso to extend the play but a coverage bust on the back pat garwell helmet sticker recipient last week ties it up at 13 a piece looking to score boston college teased us all of america at the end of the game they had a chance to win it clemson survives 19 to 13. don't worry big ten we haven't forgot about you michigan all of a sudden making a statement like you know what you may not have thought we were that good but we beg to prove otherwise in ohio state they kind of look like ohio state
