yo what's up guys this is the Fuji x100v and despite being released almost three years ago it is still one of the most popular cameras today it is all over social media and honestly for really good reasons I've been using this little guy for about two months now almost daily and it's been a ton of fun and in this video we are going to explore what makes this camera so special and most importantly how it actually feels to use it every day and to do this we have to go on a little Adventure so let's go [Music] wow [Music] so here we are last night I made it to India specifically Northern Goa this place is known for its colorful architecture as well as beautiful beaches among a lot of other things since this is a very short trip time is of the essence so we have to get going and we actually have a local showing us around today so let's go foreign [Music] Fort and I'm gonna try the x100v taking some shots here and let you know what film simulations I use on this little guy as well as all these settings so let's go I use this camera first and foremost to capture memories and for this the x100v has been absolutely amazing when I bought this camera I wasn't actually sure I was going to use it I certainly have a history of buying Tech and then not using it but after about two months it has all but replaced my iPhone for any photos that I actually care about and I rarely leave my house without it to me it is not about chasing the perfect shots while traveling it's much more about capturing genuine moments and memories that matter I've heard people talk about that the x100v needs photography experience and in fact even I said the same thing in the past but I have come to learn that this is really not true the auto settings on this camera work really well and honestly myself and many others often use the x100v on auto not everybody wants to deal with the details and the settings and in the past two months I've come to appreciate the point and shoot nature of this camera because I rarely dial in any setting other than aperture to get those creamy out of focus shots the x100v allows anybody to just have fun taking photos without much technical knowledge and without any editing for me and my style of travel photography I just want to take Quick photos without thinking about it because it's not about perfection but about capturing moments and with that let's jump into the next location before we talk about film simulations and now we are at our second destination right in the center of hen gym Goa this area is known for having a lot of colorful architecture so let's go check it out and take some photos panjim is the state capital of Goa and it has a lot of colorful architecture this place has gone through a lot throughout history I've only learned on this trip that Goa actually wasn't always part of India and that the reason for all the colorful architecture is that it used to be occupied by the Portuguese and while the Portuguese Invasion ended in 1961 their cultural influence certainly hasn't the city is full of vibrant colors and you can still see Portuguese names and patterns everywhere this area specifically is called fontaneous and it's a great location to talk about film simulations as well as the Fuji X raw studio app which is much more important than you think over the past two months I've fallen in love with two film simulations in particular bright Kodak and Pacific Blues in most situations the photos come out so nice with warm brownish tones dark greens and turquoise Blues which make for beautiful Skies bright Kodak specifically blows up the colors quite a lot while Pacific Blues create nice brownish tones in the image and nicer Greens in my opinion both rely on fixed white balances though which means that during warm and sunny moments like sunsets for example when the environment around you is already full of warm tones the colors can be a little too orange so most recently I've tried out a bunch of other simulations that could work even in those situations and one stood out to me nomadic mode by Ivan YOLO here's the film recipe but I highly encourage you to visit his website as well which is linked in the description below he has a lot more film simulation recipes as well as Moon simulation recipes which is really interesting on this trip to India I actually used it a lot and I have no regrets but here's a little trick that most people don't actually seem to know you can change the film simulation so photos that you've already taken on the x100v using the Fuji X raw studio app here are some examples of how much of a difference a film simulation can actually make these are all the same photos which I converted after taking them with the help of their raw file and the Fuji X raw studio app so this place is super cool we took a lot of cool pictures but to be fair this place makes it really easy there's so much color here you can just shoot basically anything and it looks fantastic but I have one more location to go to so let's make it happen [Music] and now we are at para Road it's a very Scenic Road with a lot of supposedly coconut trees and we are being told that coconuts never fall on people but I'm not sure if that's true but let's try to get some shots let's go Power Road is easily one of the most picturesque roads that I've ever seen but it is also very chaotic there are lots of scooters and cars and signs that specifically tell drivers not to stop it's definitely that type of spot but it's totally worth checking out I came here without much of a plan but still managed to take some decent photos I actually tested some of the other film simulations that I had on my camera when I was back home including two that I haven't mentioned in this video yet specifically the yakisugi film and the nostalgic film but let me know in the comments down below which one you liked the best the last thing I want to mention when it comes to this camera is that I did a lot of research before actually buying the x100v and the one thing that I really noticed after over two months of using this camera now is that there is a lot of misinformation out there as with every other product every new version is a little bit better so many of the issues that I've learned about the x100v before actually buying it are no longer true for example people kept saying that the autofocus doesn't work well personally I think people keep echoing issues from previous versions because I never had an issue with the autofocus the x100v focuses very quickly and it even has an eye autofocus it's obviously not perfect by any means and it's in no way comparable with the autofocus on let's say a Sony camera but it's definitely more than good enough another issue that kept popping up is the Apparently bad battery life I have absolutely no idea why people would say that because I have taken hundreds of shots on a single battery and the battery never went below 60 propping at this adventurous trip to Goa I've made it back home meanwhile and here are some final thoughts on this little guy throughout this journey and a few others it has proven to be an amazing travel companion and it continues to impress me even today the photos that you can take on the X100 are not just a little bit better they are light years ahead of something that comes out of for example the iPhone 14 pro Max when shooting in automatic mode the point and shoot nature of the x100v allows me to focus on capturing moments instead of worrying about any technical settings oh and talking about film simulations they have completely changed the way I look at photography I do no longer edit photos and I mean that I do not edit a single photo and instead they go straight from the SD card to social media like my Instagram stories for example and this actually brings me to the biggest problem that I have with this camera the Fujifilm mobile app sucks you're supposed to use it to transfer all your photos wirelessly to your phone but it's the worst don't even try it Fujifilm I love you but please do better because having an app as bad as yours is ridiculous but luckily there's a solution for that I personally use this iPhone SD card reader which is super fast super well integrated into iOS and I highly recommend it in a nutshell there's very little to dislike about this camera I hope that this video has provided you with a ton of insight about the x100v I appreciate all your feedback and support and if you have any questions or any other feedback please leave them in the comments down below I always look forward to reading them if you've enjoyed this video hit like and consider subscribing to get more content on the intersection between travel and Tech and lastly a special shout out to our local guide Zakia who took time out of his very busy schedule showing us around he actually runs a local car rental service which I've Linked In the description down below his contributions made this video possible so a special thank you go out to him and his brother fasal and with that out of the way thank you very much for watching keep exploring and I'll catch you in the next one I gotta bounce bye [Music] thank you [Music]
