got the app that identifies all the plants actually we don't need the app we just got dad why does it always take us like an hour to eat the house we're at the beach at villaville 15 minutes down the road from us we didn't tell you yet but yeah we found our chateau slightly bigger [Music] [Laughter] this is the most incredible hydrangea i've ever seen lily and ella where are you stick your hands up my name is anna i'm an english former fashion and textile designer i moved to paris aged 23 to work for the french couture house bauman and stayed for the questions the wine and of course for philip a filmmaker from the south terrorian alps after 10 amazing years getting married buying and renovating two homes and having two babies we decided city life was no longer for us philip had been dreaming of buying a chateau since the day we met and finally convinced me to start looking we came to visit chateau gonville saunfler despite being in quite poor condition and needing a complete renovation we immediately fell in love with a tight budget we had no choice but to do most of the renovations by ourselves we're learning new skills as we go building muscles we never knew we had and getting creative to make the chateau as personal as possible whilst preserving its historic features it's all part of this crazy family adventure and we wouldn't change it for anything i just wanted to show you something super cool my new microphone then my daughter came in and said she has something to show you something more important [Music] so what are you showing me i'm showing my baby emma i'm already bored okay so what about what do you want to know about my baby i want to know how old is she and what is her profession well she doesn't have any job is she unemployed she's too little oh she's too little okay what is her favorite food her favorite food is um broccoli with broccoli soup what's your favorite food my favorite food is chips that's not food that's a snack my mine is broccoli to milk salmon pasta that sounds good and how about nutella i don't really like nutella it's too sugary yeah you don't like sugar do you because today i was in the restaurant and i was eating like a lot of nutella on my on my prep oh no that sounds horrible ella was eating a sweet one and then when i was eating a sweet one i was having nutella and ella was also having nutella so she was only having a sweet one you're a snitch you know [Music] so there's mom and dad dada gp okay all right oh did it break no why does it always take us like an hour to well more than an hour it feels like it takes us two hours to leave the house well i was ready it was you and the girls and your mom and your dad who decided to make porridge well you can't start the day without a good breakfast you want a song the ride is oh this is this is a gps it tells us where to go we are on our way to le jardin de pedor a beautiful garden about 40 minutes from our chateau and it's one of our favorite gardens philip you've been there about three times now haven't you yeah and why are we going there because we need inspiration for phase two of our garden restoration project yeah look how beautiful it is here what's wrong with cows oh i think that was a hill of cow proof yes they are still following us ah that's good i have no idea where we're going like down some tiny little lanes it was a road was blocked and i had to make a detour all part of the adventure [Music] we have nine minutes [Music] this is a buddha and in the uk it would be called the butterfly bush and it would be very easy to maintain and perfect for your garden you need some color and attract some wildlife that would be really good write it down on a yeah but there right on the list so we are not even inside the garden and already inspired just from the parking lot we've got the app that identifies all the plants all right actually we don't need the app we just got dad i think this is ketone aster horizontalis why horizontally because it generally grows horizontally flat yeah this is a verbena [Applause] us [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh [Music] what have you spotted what's that big thing that's a naked echinacea it's a type of fella in um in england uh many years ago it was called sneeze weed because it made it it made you sneeze [Music] ella what did you find in there chickens no no no ella are you allowed to climb on the chicken i've never seen anybody riding a chicken before can you lay eggs as well no definitely not [Music] hmm [Music] so many plants i have to write down so many names of plants and take pictures and come up with ideas for us it's a bit overwhelming but i really love it see what you can spot hello that's the donkey house and i love donkeys and for some reason i'm not allowed to have a donkey so please our subscribers tell anna that we urgently need a donkey it would be such a nice addition to our youtube channel having a donkey if you want a donkey and a dog yes and what do you want a motorbike a motorbike yes you need to choose which one you want because you can't have all of that what can i have to start with then well you say what you want i need a motorbike with a donkey on top and a dog on top of the donkey it's like one present no that's not one person that's three points and that's a lot how many can i have to start this then one okay which one do you want me to get to have motorbikes okay okay you heard it motorbike no way yes [Music] stick your hands up stick your hands up [Music] [Applause] [Music] yes this is amazing [Music] it's really nice to have these little windows out into the real world where the farmers live and the machines clever idea so where are we going to make a maze maybe at the back where we make the fires right now i thought that was going to be the pool oh yeah and the donkey philip there is no donkey [Music] and it's really beautiful with this they created a little chapel in the middle of the garden it feels quite a spiritual place it does [Music] oh there's hidden please don't ring the bell oh no does it really no i think we also need a bell tower i think it's such a good idea and look on the top another one [Music] we will whoa what is lillian it's a lily pond [Music] [Music] oh [Music] oh this is incredible it looks like something to eat candy floss candy floss yes this is the most incredible hydrangea i've ever seen [Music] i think this is perfect inspiration for our longer area what do you think it's beautiful it's so beautiful these hydrangeas the cornices the bushes the bug the books books box hedges it's just fantastic i love it i want exactly that mood in front of our lingerie then i'm happy then i will sit down and have a picnic glass of wine and that's it might only take us 20 years to achieve that but you know no next year this winter we start this winter we start planting this winter oh history of the garden in here in here here you can see the history of the garden and it's incredible where they came from wow i think they bought it in 1985 that's when i was born oh i thought it was young in the garden no that's really not the old so only 35 years yeah look that's i think that's where we are now this is the beautiful garden it was just a field that's how our garden looked when we bought the chateau as well we started cleaning the ground planting the planting the hedge at the entrance the pond and they even moved houses they found houses in the area they bought them from farmers and they brought them here and we built them here so what do you think about this garden jenny oh it's amazing absolutely fantastic so beautiful i'm very excited for you to create the same thing for it yeah but that's when i came here the first time i was so excited because it inspired me so much and i really wanted to improve our garden and i think so jenny no you're going to say i think you'll need 50 years you have 50 years i don't have 50 years i have five then we move over to the next project we didn't we didn't tell you yet but i know we found our shadow slightly bigger no i'm kidding [Music] [Music] what's up [Music] [Music] october [Music] visiting this stunning garden and taking many notes and pictures made us hungry we drove to the nearby and very picturesque village of bomo on orig for lunch [Music] we promised the girls to go to the beach and right after we headed to one of the closest beaches to our chateau even though the weather wasn't perfect the kids were happy and it was a great way to end a wonderful family day out exploring our beautiful normandy countryside we're at the beach at villaville which is about 15 minutes down the road from us the clouds have just come over but it is a beautiful day [Music] on the
