all right hello everybody my name is Jack King I'm VP a product business development at SCI 5 for those of you who don't know sci-fi sci-fi was founded by the emitters of risk 5 and it's kind of amazing for us to see all the progress that's been going on so today I want to talk to you about our freedom you 500 it's a linux capable 1.5 gigahertz quad-core or every 64 GC SOC so I think we are all part of what we like to call the risk 5 revolution and it's a revolution because this is something that's much bigger than just us in a room it's something that's gonna change the industry we have a lot of people a lot of interest and it's just it's just keeps building so I think we're all part of something very very special something very very unique and risk 5 has very very lofty goals right it's designed for all levels of compute so we're taking on microcontrollers we're taking on application processors we're taking on network processors we're taking on supercomputers so how do we get there and it came from very humble beginnings right the wrist fire foundation it was wrist 5 was a academic project it became a non-profit foundation you know just two years ago 16 member companies won six right now we're over a hundred members 100 plus members we have commercial chips we have commercial companies we have IPS you know a year ago at the last 5th workshop I was up here and I announced the first commercial risk five chip and we had a development board at that time called the high five one that chip is to what's powering these badges the electronic badges some of you've had so I want to just kind of report back on the progress that risk life has made if you know the attendance of the 500 people here is not enough to tell you what's going on since we announced that chip last year and that board we've sold that board to over 50 different countries so over 50 different countries in the world are working on respond alright this is much bigger than just us in this room this is a revolution so it's I five we're continue to drive commercial development last year we announced our my controller everybody asks but what about Linux what about Linux was a Linux chip so what's next what's next is our Linux chip right the freedom unleashed 500 250 plus million transistors this is in tsmc 28 nanometers it's a high-performance multi-core system I'll share much more details about it it features our u54 MC core complex supports the latest risk 5 specifications and we intend to use this to drive software development to drive risk fire software development for the entire ecosystem so a little more details here on the chip you'll see on the left it features our core complex there's actually five cores in here running at 1.5 gigahertz plus there's four u54 course you for us are our cores that support machine supervisor and user mode which means it can support full-featured operating systems like UNIX like Linux like BSD each of the u54 course has a 32 KL 130 UK l1 instruction and data v core is that a 51 is the 64 bit embedded core all five cores together are in a coherent system with a two megabyte l2 mentioned earlier it's a tsmc 28 nanometer part and a flip chip BGA package the development board will be available in q1 of 18 so just a few months from now I'm sure more details about the board so what are we doing with the platform so on the left-hand side here you'll see our five hundred block diagram I already mentioned the core complex 2 for you 54 cores the 151 core in addition to the l2 outside there's multiple peripherals intended for software development so first there's a high speed ddr4 runs at 2400 so full speed DDR memory for all your software development in terms of peripherals we have what we call the I guess low-speed peripherals spy I square C you are GPIO s there's also a Gigabit Ethernet and then there's an interface we call chip link chip link is a seer realized version of tiling tile Inc is a very important thing for us tile Inc is a open specification with an open source implementation bus protocol just like how risk 5 is an open specification we believe it's also very important for there to be an open bus specification so we have a talk tomorrow West is going to give a talk that goes through the details of tiling trip link is a serialized version of tiling we use it to go off the three DeMille's 500 to FPGA or other devices now here I show an FPGA the purpose here is we can put in different types of IP blocks in the FPGA for software development or we can use it to expand out to other components which we'll show you a little bit more details about the cores that are in that's in this chip so inside I mentioned it we call the u54 MC so the multi-core you 50 for each of the you fifty four cores is an RV sixty-four GC so that's I am F ad this is the standard extension for Linux development alright Hardware multiply divide atomic constructions 16-bit compressed along with a single and double precision floating point support all three privileged modes we add that the fit a fifty one minion core which supports two mnu privileged mode it can be used for boot up it can be used for security use for offloading functions we also announced this you 54 MC as a licensable IP core about a month ago alright this is its implementation in silicon specifications of the core complex in 28 this is our silicon data pre before we actually he is silicon back this is data that went out along with his GDS typical 1.5 gigahertz fast fast low so you'll see the data there this is all what standard cells standard memories so if you have custom endpoint implementations or do other type of performance tricks you can get better performance this is just very vanilla standard cell implementation in terms of area very competitive compared to other 64-bit cores I'll see you there performance-wise 1.7 D MIPS 2.75 former per core alright so I mentioned the development board that's gonna be available in q1 we call it the hi-5 unleashed all right so last year the micro microcontroller board was called the hi-5 one this is the hi-5 Unleashed so what's on this board so on this board it's the freedom unleash that you 500 a cross chip link it connects to a micro semi polar fire fpga we're very happy to partner with micro semi on this board or both leaders in the RISC 5 ecosystem because we're connected to an FPGA a PGA supports USB HDMI we also have PCIe coming off we connect it to a PCI you switch and you get additional peripherals so more PCIe slots MDOT two form factors a PCIe 2 SATA he also Giggy it's my flash SD card ddr4 so with this you can build a full computer really you can build a full system you can also put in your own IP approvals into the FPGA alright comes with all software the freedom SDK software development kit and as you mentioned before it'll be available in q1 I think the robust ecosystem developing for risk 5 tools is something that is readily apparent here at this workshop the number of talks and number of companies that we have talking about their tools and their support for risk 5 it's just tremendous so I won't belabor that we will always support our free open-source tools we call freedom studios it's available from sci-fi website so you clip space ide that you can use with any of the sci-fi products and other risk 5 products as well but in addition to that I think we're starting to see a lot of commercial debug commercial tools because I think later today and also tonight at the reception and poster you'll see a lot of these demos so we're very happy to see companies like Lauterbach companies like sager all announced support for risk 5 specifically with it tested with - sigh five-course so finally I want to announce our early access program for the hi-fi Unleashed boards alright so we actually have a program today for open source developers for people who want to develop open source software on risk 5 who want to develop Linux wanted live freebsd want to develop whatever it is we have an early access program so today if you're part of the early access program we actually give you FPGA based prototypes and we will be replacing those FPGA based prototypes what to high-five Unleashed board right this is the fastest way to get a high-five Unleashed board now it is an early access program which means we will be giving these boards out to these developers sooner than the general availability so there will be some basic bring up headaches right Linux is upstream but not all the drivers are there right there's not all the distribution support is there so early access programs are people who want to work around these issues all right so if you want to sign up beta program is spooling up we have more people signing up the best way to do it is to email us info xi5 calm let us know you want to sign up for this and we'll get in touch with you and get you aboard alright so with that last time
