Free Network Monitoring Step by Step | Observium (Server, Firewall, Switch, Router,...)

Welcome to my video In this video I show you how to install observium step-by-step The installation process consists of 5 steps Step 1 install virtualbox virtual machine software The link to download the software is in the description of this video Observium is a low-maintenance auto-discovering network monitoring platform supporting a wide range of device types, platforms and operating systems including Cisco, Windows , Linux, HP, Juniper, Dell, FreeBSD, Brocade, Netscaler, NetApp and many more. Observium focuses on providing a beautiful and powerful yet simple and intuitive interface to the health and status of your network your network This is the introduction on the official observium website Step 2 Step 2, download the ubuntu server operating system installer Download link is in the description of this video Step 3 Install Ubuntu Server OS on virtualbox Click new button to open a dialogue Type of name for the new virtual machine Click the type drop-down box then click Linux in the resulting drop-down menu Click a button to 64-bit before proceeding Selecting amount of ram to use Click create Select a virtual machine name on the left side of virtualbox Then click settings The default networking mode in virtualbox is NAT Change it to bridged Click on Storage category and then Empty under Controller IDE Click CD/DVD icon on right hand side and select the ubuntu ISO file to mount Click start This option is at the bottom of the menu Ubuntu will begin running Using the arrow keys on your keyboard select the language you wish to use for the installation And hit enter on your keyboard Choose continue without update The next step is to configure networking Your networking devices will automatically be selected Using your arrow keys Select the network adapter to be configured and hit enter You should set static address for your Ubuntu server Select ipv4 and then When prompted use your arrow keys to highlight the ipv4 method and hit enter From the pop-up Select manual You configure the IP address to suit your network After configuring the static IP address to have down to save and hit enter on On your keyboard have down to done and hit enter on your keyboard You now have to select the storage configuration chances are good you can stick With the default have down to continue and hit enter On your keyboard in the resulting screen you are asked To create a new user and a name for the server Fill out the necessary details for the new user and the servers hostname tab down to done And hit enter on your keyboard Install OpenSSH server Tap the space bar on your keyboard, tab down to Done, and hit Enter on your keyboard Tab down to Done, and hit Enter on your keyboard At this point the installation will complete and you'll be prompted To reboot to finish up Step 4 Install observium Connecting to Ubuntu server using SSH Observium has an automated install script for use on Ubuntu and Debian systems Using the automated installation script is as easy as downloading it running it and answering a few simple questions You choose number 1, to install observium community You choose number 1, to install observium community Create a password for your database You are prompted to create an account, which you create and remember to use in the next ste You are prompted to create an account, which you create and remember to use in the next ste You have done the installation of observium on ubuntu server ubuntu server To log in to Observium web admin panel, open a browser and navigate your server’s IP address Log in to Observium dashboard with the username and password configured for admin account in the above step In order to monitor a network device via the SNMP protocol hit on the Devices menu and select Add Device from the pop-down menu I will add some devices to the monitoring system The next thing is to wait for the results And here is the result after a day of waiting You will get a lot of monitoring information for example cpu, memory, storage, bandwidth, etc There is a lot of information, you can learn more The information is displayed on the chart at different time intervals, very easy to see Also I really like Observium's way of getting real-time bandwidth information Also I really like Observium's way of getting real-time bandwidth informationn Thanks for watching don't forget to like and subscribe
