in today's tutorial I'll be showing you how you can retarget your metahuman inside Unreal Engine 5 using this free mixamo converter first go to my description down below click this website and click on direct download now you will have this mixamo converter here click on it and drag it and drop it to your desktop in your content browser right click add feature and third person at project go to content and then go to characters mannequins and meshes you see that here I have an SK mannequin and I'm going to use this to retarget my metahuman go ahead and right click add quickel content go to metahuman pieces or my metahumans I'm going to download Lucian here and add him to my project after adding the metahuman to your scene the Unreal Engine will ask you to enable the missing plugins so go ahead and do that and don't forget to rest your engine I just want to show you something really fast before we go to retargeting if your metahumans hair is disappearing when you go back just click on the metahuman and the details here go down to LOD sync edit in Blueprint and in the uh components LOD Sync here set this to one the force LOD compile and save now if I go back the metahumans hair is still there go to mix.com sign in and go back to your mixamo converter which we downloaded go to mannequins Quin Unreal Engine 5 and we're going to drag and drop the skm Quinn fpx to the mix.com so I'm going to go ahead and upload a character going to go back here and drag and drop our character is ready to be exported with animation to Unreal Engine 5 so I'm going to hit next and next let's start by adding animation going to hit search for example walk and I'm going to choose this one click in place click on download without skin because I don't need the skin I need just to retarget to metahuman and click on download go to your mixamo converter incoming fpx drag and drop the downloaded animation go back here click on mixamo converter and click any where here go to steps scroll down and in the set names for converted animations I'm going to just type here five so it's do5 you see here click here to convert the animations one animations ready to be converted which the one we added to incoming fpx click here you can see it's done go back here outgoing fpx and there's our walking animation ready to be exported to to the uh Unreal Engine right click here create a new folder call it mam double click go back to your outgoing fpx drag and drop the fpx here in the skeleton choose SK mannequin and uncheck this uh use default samper rate check this and everything is is normal so import all now if I double click here you can see that we have our animation create a new folder and call it whatever you want I called it to ue2 MH for metahuman so I know that this folder I can retarget my metahuman so I'm going to double click here and the uh folder path I'm going to contrl C go back here go to the import animation right click asset action export control V and Export here save export now I can drag and drop this and retarget this animation to The Meta human go ahead and create a new folder here call it uh MH animation all right that click go to UE MH drag and drop this here and this time I'm going to choose the meta human base scale I'm going to keep this the same import all now click here you can see that I have the metahuman animated I'm going to create now a new level sequence and I'm going to drag and drop my meta human delete this click on body animation and walk and there we go
