Free Android Emulator for Flutter in VSCODE | Genymotion

hi guys in today's video we are going to be installing genymotion android emulator and we are going to be setting it up with flutter if you don't know how to set a flutter with vs code you can click this link and top or in the description and watch the video to get started or else if you have the sdk installed let's get right in [Music] so first of all let's just go over to the gen emotions website type genie motion hit enter select this link which is genymotion.com and here is the website hit over to download and in a few moments it will start the downloading so as you can see my download has been started [Music] now after the download has been finished you will get the genymotion setup just double click it hit ok next next next and next let it install it may take a few minutes in the meantime let me tell you i have a bonus section at the end of this video where i discuss common errors and how i resolve them in my system so if you are into that you can visit that section as well time stamps will be in the description so you can find them there and since we have downloaded genymotion with virtualbox option so the next setup will be of virtualbox once this installation finishes as we can see the next installation is of virtualbox so basically what is happening over here is the virtual box will be responsible for running our android images the iso files which we have so we will download them using genymotion and it will configure them but the actual running part will be done by this virtual box once this installation has been finished we don't need to run this right away just let's finish and let's launch any motion so what genymotion would require is it will require an account to work with so for personal use if you are using this you can get a free genimotion account through their website as you can see it is asking for login id but since we do not have one let's go over to this website and there we can create a new id for genymotion there is this option of create account at that will open up this website where you can enter all details and get a free genymotion account now it's free for personal use i guess yes it is free for personal use so i already have account for this generation site so i'm not creating a new one for myself but you can go ahead and do that once you have your account you can enter the account details over here and hit next make sure your internet connection is on select the option that says personal use it next and accept this license select it and hit next and here we are inside of our genimotion emulator [Music] now here we have an important step if you don't already have android studio installed and configured with flutter and you if you want to do that i have a separate video for that you can watch that the link will be in the description and in this top i card which comes up so if you already have that you can simply open it up and you can go to this file option and search for settings option over here so please pay attention over here this is a really important step otherwise this setup will not work so once you are in the settings tab let me just quickly close these we can find the required setting together so come inside is appearance and behavior and inside the system setting there is an option called android sdk and there is this thing called android sdk location so yes we just need this android sdk location just copy this location and we are going to paste this into genymotion settings so i'm opening genymotion now i've opened genymotion it is saying update available i do not want to update okay go to generation settings and from the settings select this option where it says adb yes here we have this settings page of generation select this option where it says adb so i have already put in this path but you will find it empty you will find it something like this you need to select this use custom android sdk tools and put in this path over here and just simply close this once you've done that now we are all set with the genymotion and now we can download our own virtual devices so hit the android api select your android api i am selecting 10 select from the available devices for example you can select any of this device you can give it a name this is pretty similar to how we do it in android studio as well like the apt manager so just give it a name and select some settings if you want give it a memory size etc and hit install so now it will be downloading this thing but since i already have a device downloaded so i'm not going to download again and once you have this downloaded you will have option over here for your name device name and you can simply hit start and what this is going to do is it is going to open up this device and we can use this device easily with our vs code and run our flutter applications on it very easy once again if you are facing some issues with this starting up of jenny motion app or your device might not be launching etc i have a bonus section where i've covered some general issues that arise during this installation you can visit that section timestamp will be in the description now let me open my ps4 i use this as my primary flutter development id let me open a new window over here and as you can see our android emulator is also booting up after resizing this let me open a folder or not a file but a folder let me select one of my previous projects or demo application and select ok now once you have your project open in this ps4 simply go to run and run it without debugging here is this android app which i have it simply contains some animations in our list view pretty basic nothing nothing fancy over there and this is our device emulator and as you can see this device is showing in bs4 this is the same device the ipad address which is showing so select that you need to select that to run your app in that device now you can see it is launching this application into this device which we selected now here you can see our app is currently running on this genymotion emulator this is a simple filter app which just contains some simple animations and that's it i think we are done with jenny motion installation setting it up with android sdk and downloading this android emulator so that was it for the installation part now the next section is a bonus section where i have covered some common issues that i faced during installation of this setup in one of the case my virtual box was not loading up and there was some other issue in some other case so i provided links to those reference articles as well so you might open up your virtual box or start your emulator and it might show a screen like this where it will say that your virtualbox is not working so what worked for me is this uh answer from this superuser.com website where i needed to disable some of these features i'll provide a link to this article in the description so i basically uh disabled this hyperb and another windows hypervisor platform option from my features i search for turn on and off features and from here i just disabled the options which are which is what it was saying and that worked for me in that case and as you can see they are already disabled in mine yes this was one error that i got into after disabling you need to restart and hopefully your setup will be working fine by now so if you get into more issues or issues that i i could not i did not get so you can head over to this support.animation.com website and there they have a good list of options that you can do in case of errors so you might face this issue as well virtual or box those are your only issues and there is a solution given for this i'll provide a link to this in the description and you can visit this
