all righty pulling out first thing monday morning and i'm off to a slow start because i gotta go have a tire replaced when i was doing my old change friday i was looking at my tires i'd kind of do a real close inspection and i saw a bulge on the side of one of the tires and uh that's the first sign that you're just about to have a blow out um that air is getting into the sidewall and tire it's not good so it's only a few miles over here to the tire shop got my fingers crossed that we make it [Music] [Music] wow [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] local trucks logging trucks [Music] tires last time i came over here i was able to get two steer tires and i was in and out in probably an hour and 15 minutes so really fast good work over here there you go collier truck tire [Music] there you go as you can see got all the logging trucks stacked up in there hopefully we won't have to wait too long this morning i think i didn't book a load all right so if you are ever in east texas and you need a good tire for a good price and put on super quick um i highly recommend collier c-o-l-l-i-e-r tire service believe it or not i was in and out i mean from the time i pulled up to the time i got on the road in less than 30 minutes and that's a steer tire mounted and balanced and uh what's even better i use these tires called trisanos and uh it's what most of the the loggers around this area use they're really tough tired now they're not the really nice 16 ply um and you know if you're real sensitive to it and you've been using the real expensive steer tires you might be able to tell the difference but uh it cost me 330 dollars for a tire mounted and balanced and um you know as far as i can tell they're they're really good tires and uh i i probably will never go back to paying seven eight hundred dollars for for another tire again um now i do have these super singles for drive tires that uh i'm waiting for them to just wear out and then i'm going to switch out some tools i just don't like the feeling of you know a tire blowing and you're just absolutely stuck these crack tank i'll show you here um unless you have a winch on your truck uh you need somebody with a forklift or something to pick these things up so you can get under them and they're really they're really not that big a deal once they're lifted up you hook up and go just like any other trailer they don't ride quite as smooth because they've got that one axle in the back and it's not it doesn't have any kind of suspension on it it's just just an axle back there but uh man it pays good um so don't be scared so i'm hooked up i'm ready to go and i have to wait about 10 more minutes to get my 30-minute break in i get asked everyone now and then if i can make as much money on power only as you can if you had your own trailer and immediately i will answer no you can't uh on average you cannot make as much per mile but but big big old butt on that um you can get real close and without all the headaches i i'm really enjoying this power only gig um like i said i can make more money if i had my own flatbed definitely make more money but i would be working for it with power only like i said i've been here [Music] a little less than 20 minutes well probably right at 20 minutes now i'm already hooked up got my paperwork i'm sitting out here on the driveway next to the highway ready to pull out as soon as my you know my rest break is over so i may not make as much per mile with these power only loads but i'm not waiting in line to get loaded i'm not uh waiting to get loaded i'm not watching them load the truck or waiting at a dock and um you know it just it's super easy super easy this is a frack tank on top of that a frack tank if you don't have a winch on your truck you got to wait for somebody to come out with a forklift and pick this thing up put it on your truck and that's already done that's the first thing i ask when i when i find out it's a crack tank is uh you have a forklift lifted up here on my truck so i don't have a winch um they always do always do this 99 of people out here don't have a winch on their truck so um you know for you guys asking can you do as good on power only as you can for if you have your own trailer at the end of the week no you're not gonna make as much money per mile but you don't have a trailer payment you don't have the maintenance to pay on the trailer tires and wheels and you're in and out you're not waiting in a line burning fuel and that's another thing that i just remembered um i'm usually getting nine miles a gallon better on these lows because they're mostly empty trailers so if you add all those things in and you consider everything it's real close but the kicker is you know i'm getting fat and lazy because this is so easy well we are hanging out waiting for this guy to show up he was supposed to be here already but that's all right um i actually got here last night for that very reason um like i've said before i like to be early and if i can get to the shipper the night before and uh post up that's what i'm gonna do so i don't waste my clock um if i would have parked at a truck stop this morning uh i would have already wasted 30 40 minutes driving over here excuse me and then i would have been wasting this time waiting for the guy so um instead my clock hasn't even started yet and it man it was it was nice sitting here last night let me show you what we're looking at so uh i took a chance that there would be a place to park usually on these oil field sites that you can find plenty of spaces but this one i got very lucky because the only place to park was right here as you pull in at the fence and i got i don't know about 10 feet behind me before i get out in the road there so got very lucky as you can hear it was very peaceful and quiet here last night i think i may have heard two cars three cars i'm sure there were more than that that's all i heard i conked out but uh picking up another frack tank today um yeah you may be hesitant to to do these frack tanks and i was at first but i went ahead the first one ever did made the call and just to see what it was all about and uh fortunately that first person i talked to had all the right answers before i even needed to ask them but these people when you go pick up these tanks they know that 99 of the trucks out here do not have a winch on the back to pick these tanks up to hook them up to the truck so they'll have somebody out there um who's able to pick them up and then when you deliver them there's usually somebody with a forklift so you can drive out from under but uh here's some geese over there but they're they're just like any other trailer you know that they don't ride as smooth because they got that one axle and barely any suspension back there but uh boy that check sure pays uh well at the end of the week these uh the ones i took yesterday paid over three dollars a mile this one pays just over three dollars a mile it's going down to south texas from oklahoma and then um i had booked i was in the process of booking one more that paid over four dollars a mile and uh as i was on the phone with the agent i heard somebody in the background you know i've already got that one booked and uh so i missed it by about 60 seconds but that's all right though there'll probably be another one open up um but um when you do this power only you just uh you can't think of it as you know just wanting to do a dry van and think of you know that's the easiest thing you can do because you never know what's going to pop on that board if it's a frack tank it's just as easy as a dry van um sometimes easier you know you think oh there's got to be somebody there to lift it up and all that but they're usually uh waiting on you these sites that you know they complete and then there's somebody out there their their sole job is to um lift these tanks and get the all this equipment off the site so you pull in you hook up you go sometimes the dry vans take a while they want you to go uh pick one up at a distribution center or something like that and you spend an hour looking for it and it turns out you got the wrong number and that's happened a couple of times already but you never know what you're going to get you can get a tanker you know grain holler dump belly dump you know just any single you know thing you can think of i've seen rvs on there um generators uh car haulers yeah so all kinds of stuff but um and i've seen low boys on there with you know dozers on it so if you if you got a truck that can do some heavy haul you make some really good money doing that too but hopefully this guy will show up here before long i've been sitting here for about from the time he said he would be here was about 20 minutes ago but it gives me time to drink a little coffee and enjoy the silence out here than sitting in that truck stop [Music] [Music] got this mud hole in here well it is wednesday wednesday morning i'm down here in south texas i delivered a frack tank down here and um getting another frack tank the uh the load that they had covered the other day they called me back on it and uh a couple of loads opened up so not only was i able to get the load i was able to get a couple more dollars out of them uh i love it when they call me but anyway uh yeah down here in south texas only having a deadhead about 40 miles to get this other frack tank and that's where um things came unraveled so the load that i originally tried to book they got booked before i could get it then they called me back told me i could get it i was there i posted up i pulled up to the gate about 45 minutes early thinking you know that my appointments for eight o'clock but i thought hey this place is going to be open at 7 00 a.m uh they weren't the gate was locked and soon thereafter a few trucks started pulling up behind me uh picking up the same thing and so we all waited until eight o'clock eight o'clock rolled around nobody showed up gage still locked uh we waited a few more minutes so um i started looking through my emails to get this agent's number to call her back and ask her what's going on um and um i had an email waiting for me saying hey you're not gonna be able to pick up this frack tank until afternoon and i said no no no um so i called her she didn't she wasn't even uh thoughtful enough to call any one of us she sent me an email and so i called her and said hey what's going on with this i can't wait till afternoon um she said that the the person had had emergency call out in the night and i said hey this is the oil field how do you know he's going to be done by noon you know he may have another emergency call out there's only one person um how will we know if we're going to be sitting here for you know the whole day or not and she couldn't answer the question so i told her hey um you can have this load back i've got to you know roll and i was blocked in excuse me so i went to the guy behind me and i said hey did you get the email and he said no i said she didn't call you no she hadn't called any of the other drivers or emailed them um so i let them know what was going on and they started trying to call her and she didn't answer their calls so it was a snafu anyway booked another load that one i ended up canceling um just some issues with my advocate with f2f which uh i remedied that situation and um end up picking up another frack tank and rolling with it
