oh ziggs into the relic into the relic into the relic real men get in the relic [Music] oh my god oh truck truck truck about a week ago i picked up a small indie game called foxhole you guys have been asking me to check it out on stream and on youtube for about a year now and although i've always dismissed the game because of the top down perspective i finally gave it a shot and since then i've put nearly 100 hours into it i'm hooked i'm sold this is an absolutely incredible game and oh my god i wish i played it sooner i'm sorry for waiting so long but hey we're here now and i am so glad i'm playing it if you're not familiar with what foxhole is there are two factions at war over this region here and with the uniforms vehicles and technology it actually kind of feels like you're playing in world war one and a half although these are fictional places and fictional factions the war itself is persistent which means that from day one the war effort is going literally non-stop 24 7 until one team wins there are sporadic fights around the map but huge destructive front lines develop partisans go behind enemy lines to conduct sabotage operations and logistics keeps the whole thing running literally everything in this game is player made and player decided from the bandage that stops you from bleeding to the weapons in your hands and the vehicles and fortifications around you the bullet that kills you or the 120 millimeter artillery shell that lands on top of you was literally made by someone from the enemy team so if logistics stops you run out of supplies and when that happens breakthroughs are made and teams begin to lose ground it's an absolutely incredible universe and so i decided to hop on just before the start of war 83 and as the name suggests this is the 83rd war since the game released in 2017. each war can last anywhere from a few days to over a month and since we now have thousands of players on at any one time with up to 120 players aside in each region meaning 240 players in just one small part of the map itself the scale of everything really is massive and depending on what you actually choose to do in game you can definitely feel like a small or big cog in the war machine itself for my first foray into foxhole i decided to put together a regiment basically a foxhole clan or guild and we organized ourselves into helping out our faction the wardens although both colonials and wardens are basically the same i went with warden because of the finnish fives yes they do have franco-german influence like the world war one era blue french uniforms to the german world war ii looking weapons like the totally not an mp40 fiddler smg they also have a rifle called the sample one called the alto and they have winter parkas and live in the frozen north what's not to like my name muay dog is literally from moy meaning hello and finnish i had to pick warden although we had some experienced veterans of past wars join our ranks the royal spuds were green not colonial green but green in battle and completely unsure what we were getting ourselves into we put together a logistics group set up a plan of attack and come deployment time we knew what we wanted to do our area of operations was going to be god cross historically this region has been very difficult to hold for the wardens partly because the faction as a whole just said hey you know what let's not even worry about it but also because it can be relatively hard to keep supplied our main logistics routes would have to travel from way up north and either long-haul truck supplies or barge shipping containers over the water in order to keep everything stocked and resupplied and with the colonials already having a foothold on the island itself at fleece road with a pretty sound logistics network south of them it would be no small feat to keep them back after coordinating with some other regiments in the area we drew up our battle plan our regiment's main force would deploy at anchor beach and push to secure the nearby shipyard and crossroads leading to fleece road logistics would actually deploy slightly north of us and begin getting supplies and ready for a base our goal was to cut off any possible pushes into the town of isua by the colonials a critically important area since town bases count for the overall victory conditions of the game capture enough of these and you win the war if we can secure this crossroads with our friendly regiments to our north we could establish a temporary base to help put pressure on fleece road as well hoping to eventually break the colonials down and if everything goes to plan make a push onto lost arkle a relic base that if captured acts as a spawn point and helps secure the region based on our conversations with other regiments this was going to be a tough operation for experienced players let alone new ones so we had our hands full back at our home region the troops were anxious to jump into combat and at about 12 15 pm the floodgates opened and players from both sides deployed into the realm a few scouts ran ahead to clear the bridge while i went back to secure a truck from blackwatch a town base nearby our squad loaded up and made our way back down to anchor beach in the shipyard only to find that it was eerily quiet unsure of what exactly we were about to run into we cautiously cleared the bridge and realized that there was really not much of anything standing in the way between us and fleece road this would obviously change as most likely much of the colonial focus would be to the north towards isawa but we decided to take this opportunity to set up a bunker base a forward deploy point that you can build with shovels and construction vehicles which can later be upgraded to have extremely elaborate defenses one quick note on this however is that for gameplay purposes 150 meters on each side of a region is a rapid decay zone meaning that anything built here will basically fall apart and destroy itself within the day to prevent people from being killed as they load in from one region to another now that we know that our idea here wasn't to create a permanent base but to create a temporary foothold to pinch fleece road it was here that our first shots of the war rang out we shot at a few shadows in the dark and began securing the area to establish the bunker base with shovels out we were nearing the end of the construction just as another solo colonial pushed us just minutes after our first contact and we had our first confirmed kill the royal spuds were officially in the war and i'm not gonna lie i was feeling really anxious to get this base up and running now that we were definitely found out by the enemy as another quick aside in order to create a bunker base you need to have six bunkers that are all linked up together have a construction vehicle also known as a cv put 300 basic materials into that cv and then use your hammer to upgrade an existing bunker into the bunker base structure once you have that blueprint selected someone in the secondary seat of the construction vehicle has to then right click drag over to the blueprint and then press left click to begin building this sounds like a lot and it is but this is all relatively straightforward for experienced players unfortunately we were a squad of completely brand new to the game players and this happened [Applause] they're still here they're still here right here in front of the truck all right i'm in on the truck all three of them dude literally i am so tilted right now because of the game mechanics why is it so hard to do this it is so hard i just want to build the thing yeah that that wasn't good not good at all so we got kind of embarrassed but we reset and pushed again from the bridge now knowing that the enemy was in full control of the area as we set out to clear it we ran into sporadic contact and rifle pillboxes that had been built up by the enemy these pill boxes are ai controlled that shoot if you get close enough so the best way to deal with them is to either move around them or charge head first with enough explosives typically a mammon he grenade to destroy them with absolutely no value for our lives anymore we cleared out the pill boxes with our first successful mammon rush a tactic that we would soon be extremely familiar with we pushed further east until we linked up with a few friendlies who were attempting to ambush logistics vehicles getting into fleece road and with the area temporarily cleared of enemies we managed to figure out the bunker base building mechanics and officially christened camp spud after some basic defenses and a watchtower were set up while our logistics crews kept the supplies flowing from the back lines we had a legitimate foothold in the area this gave us a chance to repair the shipyard at anchor beach and get water logistics flowing as well the next hour so was full of some pretty intense infantry fire fights we had some failed mammon rushes and we also had some successful man rushes and while we continued to disrupt enemy logistics we were able to push the southern side of fleece road i've got to say it was about now that i just finally got used to the top down perspective when it came to foxhole combat i still wasn't really hitting too many shots but i really just began to like how everything was looking around me seeing friendlies nearby the enemy pushing up visually the battlefield was evolving around you and it was just really cool to see and especially since it was the first few hours into the war i was only getting shot by rifles i didn't have to worry about turning the corner and getting absolutely blasted by a tank or deleted by artillery right away so out here in the woods of god cross is where i really started to get foxhole between the infantry fighting and then coming back to base it was just a really cool situation to see everything build up around you all of a sudden you show up to a base that you built just an hour ago and people from every direction that you've never had in contact with are trucking in supplies building defenses setting up hospitals and using it to stage out for further operations i've gotta say i was a pretty proud bunker-based dad right about now with more reinforcements we were cutting the head off the colonial snake and with their logistics unable to get into fleece road our fighting moved from the surrounding area on the southeast of the objective to the immediate trench line leading up to the relic base itself here we had intense close quarters fighting and trench to trench combat wave after wave fought through the trenches until we were finally in position to send an endless downpour of mammons and destroy the base yeah ah dude this is insane not wanting to stop there we've rounded up some nearby troops and while a friendly regiment prepared defenses and rebuilt fleece road we wanted to try our luck with the second relic base lost arkle with a mammon and a dream we stormed into the region it was fairly light resistance to start but you could tell that many of the colonias who fell at fleece road had decided to stick around lost and we quickly ran into some intense fighting along the cliffside west of the base with our team continuing the assault and setting up a bunker base directly north of the relic we tried our best to help secure the beach to keep the construction vehicles safe now while the fleece road attack was fairly straightforward we would spend the next three hours fighting over lost arkle after making up some ground we would eventually get pushed back only to rally those around us to throw their body at the enemy in order to give those behind them a chance to set up sandbags for more cover inch by inch we slowly worked ourselves up the road until we were at the base of lost arkle it was an absolutely insane chain of events that i've never experienced in any video game before with suppressing fire going out people lugging sandbags placing them down getting blown up and just repeating until we just got closer and closer to the base the enemy was seemingly besieged and just still holding out and doing everything possible to prevent us from taking that ground i couldn't count the amount of friendly bodies around me but it didn't matter we were closing into the relic and we could seemingly taste another relic based victory at one point a group of us even got together and said you know what we just gotta get in the relic and do some damage so we did all right ready two two one go go zig into the relic into the relic into the relic real men getting the take the relics we're in the relic oh no we're in the relic even though we got inside the relic base it still wasn't enough literal hours of wearing them down and we couldn't do anything thousands of bodies were littering the hillside and we still couldn't break them apparently we were up against the 77th an extremely experienced colonial regiment led by a man named muerto and as i would later find out muerto means dead in espanol and i could only assume that we were going to be in for a bad time the 77th held strong and eventually through sheer determination and muerto willpower they managed to break our lines we had the upper hand but somehow someway they cut us off on the north side pushing us back into our own trenches all the ground that we made slipped away as wave after wave after wave of 77 soldiers slammed into us and after three hours it all ended in a hail of mammons that was so intense i honestly thought it was artillery dude we literally all right guys spuds we're we we got to redeploy the need to push north back into uh the other zone we've got to hit this from a much different angle the wardens had been pushed out of tempest and lost arkle would stay in colonial hands it would be easy to call this a loss but in the grand scheme of things we had actually already claimed fleece road and did enough damage that surely the 77th would have to fall back and rest up before pushing up north in order to prevent any future advances and with the 77th just at our door the royal spuds broke ground on fort spud setting up at the same objective area where we started the day and established a base that would soon join the southern defensive line with our nearby regiments after nearly 12 hours of fighting we came out of the other side of our first deployment with a base of operations one captured relic base and an entire region secured in the name of the wardens it was a lot of work and although i obviously think we did a great job as the royal spuds we couldn't have done it without the regiments nearby and especially those that were in the back lines making all the supplies and doing the hard work to ship them up to the front we were a small part but if we weren't there maybe things would have gone differently and if our logi wasn't there then hey maybe we wouldn't have had the mammons to do the damage that we did in order to get fleece road or even almost break lost arkle damn it sucks you're not supposed all right good job get back to work i'll see you guys in the morning this game is something else and i've been having an absolute blast playing it exploring the world that is foxhole and being able to put our mark on war 83 as big or as small as it is since this is a persistent war i am planning on putting out more videos like this a week or so after they happen in order to keep any sensitive information like base defenses operations technology and all that kind of stuff hidden but if you would like to join in for the war as it happens plus a little bit of op sec in order to not show everything on screen i do invite you to come check out the live streams at twitch.tv every weekday they've been an absolute blast in the foxhole community man you guys are something else i've been having a great time hanging out with you guys every day and seeing how the war progresses and of course if you did like the video please let me know this is a completely different type of video and game so i definitely would like to hear from y'all give me a thumbs up and subscribe for more if you did enjoy it and i'll see you guys in the next one until then peace [Music] [Music] you
