forza horizon 4 is one of the best racing games out there right now so whether you are just starting out and playing it for the first time or maybe you're jumping back in after a little bit of a hiatus and with its recent release on steam and optimization on xbox series x and s here are 10 things you should know in forza horizon 4 in 2021 so forza horizon 4 takes place in great britain so you get all that great english shoreline and scottish highlands to drive through and the gameplay cycle is based on all four seasons that subtly change the gameplay and the map in each season for example there's an island in the middle of the lake that you can only get to in winter when the lake is frozen over so after you complete the first in-game year you are dropped into a server with other players and the seasons change for everybody every week we'll have a little bit more on that later in the video but that is the base cycle of the gameplay of forza horizon 4. if you're driving around forza is a massive map and i find that you want to change your ride you're not happy with it or you've been driving on the road and think you would like to have a truck and go off-roading you can do that you can have a car delivered to you anywhere you just go into the start menu and select the car from your garage that you would like to have delivered to you now quick note you won't be able to tune or customize it in order to do that you will have to go back to the festival or to one of the player houses more on that in a minute as you drive around in forza and start to complete races you may see the little camera icon above some of the other players cars this is for the horizon photo promo challenge so be sure to snap photos of these when you see them for quick cash and rewards in order to do that you can just hit up on the d-pad to enter photo mode and you can either take a normal photo using the regular process or if you just want to snag a quick shot just for the promo you can just hit right bumper to take a quick promo shot and back right back out again also while we're on the topic forza does have a pretty nice photo mode so if you're into photography and showing off your cool rides be sure to check out the photo mode and play around with that because it can be a lot of fun [Music] speaking of getting money or credits as the game calls them don't worry about money too much it may seem tight in the beginning but the game is very generous with rewards and you'll get plenty of credits and wheel spins throughout your time and forza horizon 4. but if you do want to try and maximize the amount of money that you're getting the key is to do long races with a fast car because the longer the race in terms of distance the more money you will get and obviously a fast car will complete it faster you can spend your money pretty pretty freely and not worry about struggling to make it back continuing on the theme of money and game one thing you'll want to do when you do have the money is to buy the businesses and houses available for purchase the businesses will generate you passive income when you aren't playing and the houses offer some unique rewards as well as wheel spins etc the first house which you get for free is the gables and this unlocks the drone mode which is very useful for locating barn finds because it makes it much easier to search through tough terrain it can be kind of difficult to look around when you are driving through the woods the first two houses i would recommend you grab next are sunflower meadows for 200 000 credits because this gives you access to the horizon promo challenge we just discussed taking photos of the cars in forza horizon 4. the other house to note is fairlawn manor when you get a bit more cash this one costs 2 million and grants you the fast travel anywhere perk which can be quite handy if you just want to jump to a specific location on the map the game also offers lots of collectibles scattered throughout the map the coolest of which are the barn finds that offer you unique cars could be refurbished that you can then drive in game it does take a little bit of time though so that's why i advise as soon as you're able to get those go ahead and grab it and that is what the drone is very handy for because you will often be driving through kind of rough and tough terrain and it's much easier to navigate the drone through there to find what you're looking for and then go drive there rather than trying to drive and look at the same time there are also bonus boards that you can smash scattered throughout the map some are influence boards and some are fast travel boards the influence boards grant you influence which helps you level up and that is very useful in the beginning and then the fast travel boards lower the cost of fast traveling every time you smash one the handling model in forza horizon 4 sits somewhere between a sim racing game and an arcade racer the cars feel more realistic and you do have to break and there's no nitrous or boost button but you do have an immense amount of freedom and it's not quite as realistic or restricted as a sim racer would be the cars generally have a more realistic handling model and drifting can be pretty tricky to learn and pick up but thankfully the game does offer a range of difficulty settings and do not be afraid to leave these on early on i would recommend you start with most of the assists on if you're new and as you start to get a feel for the game slowly turn them off i know when i first started back in forza horizon 2 i felt like i was good at racing games and i wanted to get all those extra credits by turning the difficulty settings up and i ended up just not really having a great time because i made it really hard and when i finally realized that and turned some of the settings back on to make it to make it easier it ended up also being more enjoyable for me as well you'll honestly probably have a lot more fun if you start from a point where you're able to complete the races and not get frustrated and then slowly turn certain settings on or off as you get a feel for the game and even now after hundreds of hours put into forza horizon i still play with the braking light on and rewind on because that just makes the game more fun to me without getting too frustrated the cars in forza horizon 4 are broken up into a class or tier system this means that fully upgrading or maxing out a car often isn't the best option as it will place it somewhere in the middle of a tier so what you'll want to do is play around with the upgrades to get a nice balance that will put your car's rating near the top of one of the classes so that you have the best chance in that class this allows for more cars to be competitive since you'll pretty much always be racing other cars in your class and also means that slower cars can often be more fun and are a great way to learn if you're having trouble with some of the faster cars and last but not least do whatever strikes your fancy forza horizon 4 is a huge game with so much to do but once you've reached the end game or even before then if you've got a good grasp on it i would recommend completing the weekly forzathon challenges as you can often find special rewards and vehicles that you can't find anywhere else as well as new cars being added to the game every month even three years after release there's also still a fairly healthy online community where you can compete in races or the appropriately named playground games where you can play games like king of the hill and infected which is basically tag and there's even the eliminator which is the battle royale mode with cars well if you guys can count that is 10 things so if you guys enjoyed
