in this video you may learn the importance of being able to formulate statement of opinion and assertion also i will show you the difference between opinion and assertion [Music] formulating opinion and assertion helps us in expressing our ideas based on what we believe these beliefs may have been influenced by what we've seen heard or read [Music] also once done properly our verbalized opinion or assertion may be understood considered and believed by others too always remember that opinion and assertion both express an idea on someone or something now let us talk about opinion opinion is an interpretation or judgment after making an observation it is not based on one's emotions or feelings here is an example i believe that education is vital for us to achieve success here is another example for me all of us should understand each other so that amity would be within our grasp [Music] last i think we can be assertive while being considerate [Music] let's now have a scrutiny on assertion assertion is standing up for once right and not being taken advantage of it is an expression of what you really want in a right way example i understand what you're going through that's why i am here for you another example if you don't like me just respect my position last when you left me it was too painful that's why i decided to marry the one who unconditionally loves me now let us talk about the seven types of opinion [Music] public opinion public opinion is the whole population's outlook of a municipal province or country group opinion this type of opinion is the combination of opinions from a group of subjects such as members of judges governing body or other decision-making body [Music] scientific opinion scientific opinion is an opinion on various scientific concerns legal or closing opinion this type of opinion is a professional opinion usually given by attorney to his client contained in a formal legal opinion letter judicial opinion judicial opinion is the opinion of a judge or a group of judges editorial opinion this type of opinion is an evaluation of a topic present in the editorial page of a newspaper personal opinion this type of opinion is the point of view or idea of an individual about someone or something here are simple introductions which you can use in expressing a personal opinion i believe that and in my own perception now let's have the four types of assertion [Music] basic assertion basic assertion is a direct and simple statement of one's feelings and beliefs example i wish i have started saving when i was younger [Music] next emphatic assertion emphatic assertion expresses understanding to someone it typically has two parts which are recognition of one's feeling or situation and expression of care and support for his feelings and rights [Music] example i understand that you are sad because you failed the nursing licensure examination but you have to move on and prepare for the next one escalating assertion escalating assertion is what happens when a person cannot respond to a given assertion as a consequence that person becomes increasingly firm example if you do not support me with my educational expenses i will find a part-time job to fund my education [Music] language assertion language assertion uses i which is helpful in emphasizing one's negative feelings like anger and disappointment and a solution is suggested example when i don't exercise early in the morning i feel unmotivated and sluggish so i make sure that i incorporate exercise in my everyday routine never forget opinion is an expression of one's judgment which is based on observation and evaluation [Music] while assertion is a right and forceful declaration of one's desires and beliefs thank you for watching
