welcome everyone Adam the whoo here today's adventure begins with the very dreary and overcast morning as I've crossed the state line into Alabama a cross-country journey the nooks the crannies the non populated areas no theme parks no major attractions just good old Americana for my second of my nine state challenge one per day we'll be focusing mostly on the bottom southern portion heading west kind of in this general area I'm inviting you to join me starting to sprinkle show you straight ahead the town of Cottonwood was to be an old mill here on the right for the production of peanuts look at those clouds when does gusting and making quite the racket over there without a loose metal [Music] [Music] just barely hanging on hold strong metal gutter remnants of the past here painted on the side of the brick you can always tell what an establishment used to be even years later based on these what was the general store over there not even a stoplight just a blinking yellow one at this intersection Danford x' quick mark the backside of this has been removed fallen and the shop is closed a convenience store nice shot of the water tower peeking up there over the top portion is gloomy you know you're in a secluded area when there is a weight limit signage for vehicles I'm good the road narrows it's not a single lane bridge but pretty close quarters if you had two big automobiles on the pavement has changed into more of a whoa little bumpy oh let's went over a pothole to more of a gravel substance there's some cotton it's a field of cotton the bustling community of Madrid corner of Commerce Street and Decatur no more fuel available at this particular station quaint little Church building over there I'd say at one point this residence used to have a business in a mechanic shop next to his homestead gridlock level at zero absolutely none hello there what you up to just hanging around don't do that that field just goes on and on and on so see if cotton [Applause] [Music] Oh [Laughter] the right that is a beautiful thing free ice for fishermen dr. pepper glory no telling what year that was painted on they're serious old school very difficult to make out but written on the door that rusted out door states auto repair far left of the screen I believe it's an outhouse [Applause] Suns finally starting to peak out a little a little garden growing here the church windows are not stained-glass the kind of tinted marble now I've heard of Sunday school and morning service not familiar however with a training union that's been scratched out [Music] very gusty [Music] gotta be quiet right they spotted me they spotted me go back to Grayson downtown Sampson there's a megaphone placed up there on that telephone pole way up there around the back alley this statement might not be relevant in this day and age nonetheless how cool is that Kinston water tower on the horizon this shop is closed on Mondays as stated the few locals at the post office they're in the middle of this little section it's coming down again doing all right doing good there okay stick together I could just get into that roof picking your nose huh yeah I do that sometimes I get it on the top of porn Hill sits this grocers or former grocers [Applause] then I have this umbrella drove a little bit of a ways first thing I'm greeted with when pulling into Bruton is this mural of some gentleman on a river on top of logs and that is a heck of an awesome looking auto parts shop pronto and I like how the railroad tracks line up parallel to the shops it's almost unnoticeable at this point it faintly make out the furniture store and we'll goodness water's coming down if you're looking for a bar that was the ideal 1-var is falling off but it's a clever name that's a rather good-sized painting to say the least what's the logging in this region as shown here in fact there goes a logging truck now the Ritz theater is once on this spot the last film it played was Crocodile Dundee back in 87 known as the hub of the community and even though it's gone they have built this in its place as an homage which also bears the signage currently it's a banquet hall you can make out what it used to be one is the rain job doesn't as a kid though that's what that is a very unique looking Bank facade closed in 1912 opened in 1889 there really isn't an inch of clear sky all clouds [Applause] [Applause] discover at more the O is a heart these style are always very interesting made out of plastic not a metal sign or wood a plastic probably seventies ish and just across the way there it's the Strand theater coming soon being renovated beautiful trees that's gonna do it for today if you're new here please subscribe by doing so helps keep you in the loop and up to date on future uploads here on
