I think he chopped the vocal, drenched it in reverb and automated pitch in certain points to give that cool gliding effect

Try using valhalla supermassive reverb (free) and using glide notes in the piano roll

This is a synthesis trick. I would take the vocal and put it into a (in Ableton) Simpler. I then select a small region of sound, loop it, pitch it such that middle C makes a middle C tone. Then I have the vocal on the keyboard.

Set it to glide and single voice so that the notes bend into the next position.

Then reverb.
