hi hi we're the forest city knit girls i'm carrie i'm june and i'm patty and what episode is it 34. it is i'm pretty sure it's 34. wow yeah i've lost track yeah that's too many and we're coming from a different location we are because we're on a girls weekend we are and we're at my cottage and uh we were gonna go outside but it's kind of noisy and we had sound issues last time so we decided just to come inside and uh yeah thank you for dealing with the sound issues last time there was a lot of wind when we were outside yeah which i think is going to be normal this time of year so so anyways we're going to try to podcast inside um clearly we're in each other's bubbles we're all together so it's nice to to come to you today with us all being together that's why we're so happy and cheerful we've had we've done a lot of knitting and a lot of relaxing and we were we've been outside all day so it's been it's been awesome yes yeah and for those who are tuning in for the first time we're knitting podcasts yeah or vlog whatever you want to call it so we just spend some time talking about our knitting and all that fun stuff yeah gina and i are sisters and carries our very good friend and uh we have lots of knitting fun together we do yes for sure so um we'll start with our usual talk of cows we've got a couple new ones that are coming out that we want to talk to you about yeah um first one we just want to remind everybody is we have our choose love make along going on so that's patty's shawl design that she uh made the choose love shawl um you're welcome to knit or crochet any shawl of your choosing if you knit the chuseo shell you get two entries into the knit along right and that runs until the end of november and there's some beautiful choose love shawls in there and some other ones as well yeah yes yeah yeah so we're super excited to see those fos coming in and of course the chatter thread is always fun to participate in as well yeah um so as carrie was saying if you knit the choose love shawl you get a double entry and all you have to do is post your fo photo in the finished object thread twice to get your double entry um we have a nice prize i think we showed that on our last podcast the ginger snap yarn and the llama bag that's yes so cute yeah so uh yeah so thank you everybody for participating it's lots of fun yes we've been knitting the choose love shawl again along with you should we show you let's show them okay so um carrie and i have actually both cast off carrie casted hers off today minutes ago years ago yeah so we were kind of waiting to podcast for her to cast off and it's gorgeous yes um i cast mine off a couple of days ago so um and both of us are using uh a choose love kit from full moon fibers and it's absolutely amazing yarn it's so soft and so it's a joy to knit with i usually don't um get sad about casting off because i'm just really excited but i just was sad kind of just to stop knitting with this yarn because it's so lovely yeah yeah they're both beautiful yeah so do you want to show yours first parents sure so here is mine finished gorgeous so pretty i love it this is a gift for my sister so she will once it's blocked it's not blocked yet but once it's blocked it'll be going to her it's beautiful and very lucky yeah this is if you're looking for a really nice soft dk this is the dk you want from full moon fiber it has a little bit of cashmere in it and i think silk as well so it's super super soft i don't have my tags with me to say the names again but it is on my project page um i just know this one is encouragement oh right yeah and i think this is meadow and then this is another mint name oh or it's vice versa that's beautiful though yeah i love it it's beautiful um i'm gonna double check with my sister if she wants tassels or not and if she wants tassels i will add them to the ends and yeah i'm excited to have this off the needles i love it it's gorgeous it's so pretty i love it um so i'm gonna show you mine as well but i have to look up my project oh i didn't enter it into my project page so i don't know my colors either i know two of them i just am not sure um what the first color i used was the um the gray hair it might be called granite oh it's so cool i think it is right patty so this is like fairly neutral and sort of fady um which is actually what i really wanted because i wanted something to that was i could just wear with anything yeah yeah um so it's neutral but with a a pop of color which i love yeah there's so many colors in here yeah it's so pretty um so i'm i think the light gray is called granite i'm not 100 on that the color pop is called imposter it's beautiful and then the last color i used um at the very bottom for my edging is marble and it's just a black and white mixed together nice yeah so it turned out very like it faded really nicely yeah it did yeah like i haven't put tassels on this one yet but i probably will um it turned out the yarn blocked out large so yeah you're saying yeah it's beautiful yeah very cozy and soft like you you wouldn't not have issues wearing this around your neck at all it's like oh it's so cozy i love it nice um yeah so um if you're thinking about knitting the choose love shawl or um you know want to go have a look it's the patterns up on ravelry it's a fairly easy um it's an easy knit but it's not boring because there's enough change in it to keep you interested yeah yeah so it would be good for like an adventurous beginner or also somebody with experience um because you don't you don't get bored with it there's lots of change through it yeah it's fun changing colors yeah yeah yeah nice and mine um i purchased a ginger snatch kit and i love it as well it's so so pretty i don't have it on very long needles um this is her so this is the top lux um lux dk and it's 100 super wash merino and 17 micron it's really soft i love it it's beautiful yeah thanks carrie yeah so i just started um my second color doing the slip stitch and um i'm excited to uh start working on the third color pretty mm-hmm yeah it's really like soft and cozy the luxe dk that kim and colin use for dying is amazing it is yeah it's really nice it's really pretty all their kits are sold out um ginger snaps kits so um but they they do have some uh luxe dk still um on the shop i checked earlier this morning but uh yeah i love it i can't wait to see more i know me too next episode so that's the choose love uh make along we have going on and then we're gonna be starting two new ones and i'm gonna let patty talk about okay um so the first one that we're starting um we have talked about unit before and claudia q who is the owner of unit she is also an amazing pattern writer beautiful um so we have collaborated with them and she released a sweater i think it was last was it last week or this week it was called last week yeah called the lana sweater and it's a fingering weight sweater um held together with mohair so just so you know what you would need to knit this sweater it's gorgeous um do we have a photo or you i'm going to wrap up a photo okay so you can see it um so we're going to run a knit along for the sweater until the end of december and it's just going to be for the atlanta sweater um it's um we have all three of us are going to knit it as well um and then uh u-net is kindly enough gifting um the podcast and the cal um a beautiful gift which we haven't received yet so we'll show it when we receive it um so yeah so um check out the atlanta sweater get your yarn ready we're super excited to have this knit along and uh all the information will be there by october 1st so it's starting october 1st um and then like i said running until the end of december so you have lots of time to knit it yeah and uh yeah go check it out it's beautiful and the pattern is free yeah yeah yeah so you can either go on to ravelry or also on the unit website maybe you could put their website behind you yeah for that so people can find um unit yeah their patterns are very um well written and they're they're simple but they always have like a nice detail and this one has they're very elegant that's very elegant very she's yes claudia is an amazing designer all her patterns are beautiful yeah yeah this sweater um when we were talking with um may from unit the sweater was originally designed to be in and i know people pronounce it differently it's either lane or line magazine um and then it didn't go that way so they've released it out this way so uh it's gorgeous it's like the perfect sweater it's definitely lino worthy yeah yeah for sure yeah and one of my favorite things is to pair fingering with mohair like it just makes the most cuddly i know it's so nice nice letter yeah love it yeah um okay so that's it for um that sweater cal which will start october 1st and like i said i will have all the information there by um the beginning of october another one that we talked about is we're going to um start a sock knit along and that'll also start on october 1st and we are the three of us are knitting the work sock pattern um by leon roxy or little red mitten carrie and jolin um and they had kits i think they still have kits in there they have more kits so if you would like to knit that you get i'll go get my can mine guys talk for a sec they even so it's like a marled looks like it works off the marled body of the sock with the white edging and then the color but they're even offering i saw the marled wool on its own so you could do like a weekender light in it yeah because it's very very similar to the brooklyn tweed look right it is yeah so this is um the kit and you also get the work sock pattern with it if you would like to knit that we all chose the pink there are different colors i think there's green yellow blue purple purple yeah yeah um it's super nice soft yarn i'm really excited to knit with it and it is 80 merino and 20 nylon nice yeah i'm excited to cast that on yeah and it's striped so like these colors the white and the paint come together but you can there's something you'll separate them they're separate skeins but they're just twisted together and you can knit whatever sock you like um to enter the cow so um yeah you don't have to knit with that we're just that's what we're knitting yeah yeah you can do whatever you like um and i think we'll run that one also into like until the end of october so we'll end at the same time as the cheese love cause that's a good idea we might want to do a christmas spin along this way yes something so so a month and a pair of socks i think should couple months oh i thought i just said november oh sorry november okay of october to the end of november yeah so a couple months yeah so um i will have all the information for both the new knittalongs um by october 1st and of course the choose love knit along is there already mm-hmm and you can knit any shell any shaft admit that you saw yeah yeah yeah so that's exciting it is exciting um i don't i think that's all for an italians for now anyway true yeah yeah um yeah so check out our ravelry page um it's lots of fun we we all participate in our knit along so we like the chatter and we love seeing the fos oh and then one other uh knit along that we're running and definitely it's not a note along actually it's our uh pet story our pet photos and stories thread um post your pet stories and photos in this thread we draw um from this thread every month a winner and we give them a a pattern of their choice um so at the end of september we'll draw on that thread and announce the winner um if in early october when we podcast but we that's our favorite yeah yeah they're so cute they are cute oh and i noticed um do you remember i forget her name but she posted the little um i think it was a duck oh the chicken the little baby chicken yeah she posted a new photo of the little chicken a little bit bigger yeah oh my god it's so cute yeah um yeah so that's it for our knit alongs and ravelry threads yeah we have a lot going on but it's fun it is fun so patty what are you wearing okay so uh the three of us decided that we were going to participate in the hokie loki telly um knit along this year and we all chose pullovers so we're all on the pullover team and i chose the easy bulky one and it's it was the quickest knit ever it's easy it's bulky weight i love it it's it feels like a sweatshirt yeah like i'm wearing a sweatshirt like it's so comfy it'd be great for going camping or walking the dog you know that sort of sweater it's a warm one um but i just love it i love how it turned out um yeah and the yarn so the construction on it is a top-down construction which is nice yeah it has what do you call this when the sleeve is a drop sleeve um i made the sleeves nice and long because that's how i like them um and it comes to you can't really see but probably the maybe a little lower than the top of my hips yeah it's a perfect nice comfortable weight yeah very easy her pattern was great um and knitting with bulky is so quick like unbelievable yeah like it has some nice details like it has like reverse seaming um which adds a nice underworld color yeah which i like uh the yarn that i used is knit picks wool of the andes bulky in the colorway current so it's like um it's almost like a merlot but i feel like it has brown undertones yeah so it's like a burgundy brown color yeah it's really pretty i like it a lot very neutral yeah easy to wear yeah it's very comfortable yeah that's good yeah yeah so that's mine what are you wearing june well i'm wearing the easy one as well and we seriously did not plan this anyway so it is kind of typical it is difficult so i did this a couple years ago it's one of the first adult sweaters that i've ever made for myself that i wear and um i don't wear it often because i didn't really think i liked it but actually now that i've pulled it out i think i do actually quite like it i know i think i'm gonna wear it more often but um yeah so it's the easy one same pattern as patty but i did it in fingering weight uh but other than that it's it's exactly the same and it was very easy it's a good tv watching knit because it's a lot of just straight knitting in the round and yeah i really like it it's super i didn't make mine over sized um and i think actually the size is just perfect like it's great yeah i really like it it comes down to more like it almost hits my hips a little bit so yeah it's really comfortable i knit this with um knit picks next or i'm sorry knit crate um it was a knit crate and i had gotten four i've gotten two of them that month so i got four skeins of this and it's their sugared sock so it's um a speckle like a peach speckle with like purple peach face with like purple speckles and it's really sparkly you can't see that but it's um has stelina in it as well really nice wall it held up nicely yeah it looks great yeah so soft too and i wouldn't say it's really sparkly no you say that a lot but i don't think it is because it died down if you're sitting well if you're sitting in the sun you can see the sparkles but just walking around you can't see it like unless the light gets used it's very subtle it's very subtle that's good yeah it's really pretty yeah yeah i do like it thanks guys um oh and this would be i would recommend this as a beginner sweater or like also a band it's like a relaxed knit but if you're if you've never knit a sweater before and you want to try one this would be a great pattern to start with that's yeah i agree yeah yeah it's beautiful and her instructions hokie's instructions are very good she has very well written patterns yes yeah nice and what are you wearing carrie i'm wearing my ranunculus so this was a whip the last time i was still working on the sleeves and then i decided i wanted to lengthen the body which i did i went back and ripped it out and knit it longer it's a really nice length yeah um yeah so i did the sleeves a little they're not very long they're more like a bracelet length i guess um which i like because then i can pull them up a bit if i need to and they have an i-cord edging on the sleeve i love that um it's top-down construction the girls have both knit a couple already so we've talked about it in the past this is knit with ginger snap um their fingering weight and their mohair the fingering weight colorway was electric dance party and the mohair was lava so i love it it's a one size fits all sweater so it's very roomy plenty of room and you sort of just knit however long you want it it's very cropped the the pattern um especially for people that have larger chests it becomes very cropped so but you can definitely add as much length or whatever you need and different options for sleeves in the pattern it can be a short sleeve a long sleeve it's great i love it it's pretty yeah it's beautiful it looks really good and i think like as far as adjusting the pattern to fit because it is a one size pattern you can like go up needle sizes if you want it a little bigger or vice versa yeah and um it works out it just works yeah somehow yeah yeah i knit this on a six millimeter needle with fingering right and i love it yeah yeah it's such a nice gauge and it like if you were to just knit fingering on a size six that's six size six millimeter um it would be too open but the mohair fills in all the gaps it just works perfectly yeah yeah that's really nice is it there in this pattern there is a there are instructions to add some like if you do there's a large size there's a modified version you can go to yeah that's true yeah that's a great pattern we love this one yeah i would knit it again i did two and i would definitely note it again i really really like it mm-hmm and this is beautiful the yarn is so gorgeous i like the pops of blue and i think in the yard yeah it's purple too it is fun what was the colorway sorry i missed you saying that electric dance party very nice yeah yeah nice sweet good so does anybody have any more foes okay it's related to this one oh okay cool do you want to talk about that yeah okay last time oh yes that's right okay so i'm getting ready to release um my first pattern so i'm really excited about that um it's called enroute and it's a hat a one skein hat and mittens pattern um so it's been out um in a test knit right now so lots of people um have been knitting it and helping me out giving me some suggestions and they're all beautiful so thank you to all the test knitters and yeah so i'll be i'm just making a few fine um tuning uh to the pattern and i'll be looking to release that probably by next weekend um so the whole purpose of this pattern is to be able to use that random skein of fingering weight yarn that you're not sure what to do with um you can make a hat and a pyramid and i did lots of like slip stitches in it and some little tiny bobble they're not regular bobbles like they're easy to do um to highlight variegated yarn so it just kind of breaks up the variegated yarn a little bit as you can see thanks carrie yeah it's cool it's fun it's fun and all the proceeds um just like patty's choose love shawl um all the proceeds will be going um to charity yeah so really excited about that nice so i had just had one mitt done and the hat done last time so i finished the second minute so my set is finished now nice which i'm excited for um i used molly klein design sweet tea yarn in the colorway tainted love that's what it looks like sorry for the close-up but it looks great in a speckle it's really pretty yeah yeah thank you love it love it good job jan on the pattern yeah it's great i'm going to put my hat on so you guys can see it's like a beanie yeah and the mittens and it comes in a child it will come in a child and use size it's so cute your colors are so pretty too so the yarn that i used is uh leo and roxy it was part of their sock of the month club so it's called like the may color or something like that 2019 um but it's it's really pretty i really love how it turned out that's really pretty yay yeah super cute yeah exciting um yeah mine is leo and roxy yarn too do you remember the colorway no and i didn't remember it on the last one either i'm sorry and this hat looks great with a palm palm it does yeah it's so cute it adds to it i love it my hair is so messy so look for this pattern and the next in the next week probably it'll be released we'll post on instagram when it's coming out so you know that you can go pick it up great gift knit yes right if you have a skein of yarn and you're not sure what to do christmas is coming yeah holidays are on their way so it's perfect for that to to knit for someone you love yeah sounds awesome congrats june it's awesome thank you yeah it's cool um who else has an effo uh i have one okay um so i finished my sweater and i think i said this on the last podcast that when i finish a sweater and i have enough yarn left over to make a hat i was going to make a hat so i cast this hat on so this is the same yarn that i used you can see it maybe you can't see it it's camouflaged so i knit the hat i have to look up the um the name of it really quick i think it's the tilde hat oh yeah yeah the tilde hat so carrie will put in um the designer name and everything so you know um where to find it it's a pattern on ravelry it's actually free you can knit she also has a pattern for the matching mitts and it's such a nice pattern it was so fun to do i cast it on last night and we've been having a knit weekend so yeah we've been knitting a lot and i casted it off this afternoon and i am gonna i intend to make the mitts as well um but i cannot believe that this pattern is free it's crazy yeah because it's beautiful yeah like it's such a nice pattern i haven't blocked it or anything yet so it's very beany looking um which is so bad like i actually like it yeah because the thing with a beanie is you can in the wintertime you can just you can flip your hook without a big pom-pom getting in the way right so i don't think i'm gonna add a pom-pom no i am gonna block it though just to stretch out the cables a bit you know i but it's really cute it looks a good pattern love it me too yeah and i do have enough yarn left over as well to make mints perfect so i'll be all burgundy and do the mitts have the the same cables on the top of the i think the mitts will have like i don't i think you can see it the middle cable and then along the side the two tiny cables yeah fun that's amazing that you knit that basically really in a couple hours yeah kind of like maybe about four hours or so yeah you know while we watched the movie last night and then let's finish it off today yeah yeah it's really nice i highly recommend this pattern it's well written and it blows my mind that it's free yeah yeah yeah there's a lot of work that goes into writing patterns yeah yeah and that's a nice powder it is very nice yeah um so do do you have nfl carry i do not okay june i have a hoe i have an almost f i've been almost fo let's see okay so so i purposely saved a little bit of this to show you guys something so these are my um just like like over the rainbow yarn by timber uh timber yarns which is amazing amazing colorway she's so so talented in her self striping sock sets like they're so fun and pretty so i made that and i just made a tube um top down like i just knit like one by one ribbing for like an inch knit to the length i wanted decreased for socks kitchener stitch and then i cut in after thought heels and this is what i finished last night and this afternoon while i was knitting on and i'm just about ready to cut in the heels but i wanted to show you guys just really quickly what that looks like because people are casting yeah so basically what you do is you just knit a tube um and then when you're ready to cut in heels you pick up a you can see on the needles you pick up a row of stitches um and then you pick up a row stitches underneath and then you start you cut one little can you should leave a row so there's a row in between the two needles yes yeah and then you cut one stitch in the middle and then you carefully unravel it and then the the stitches become live and uh so the stitches become live that are on the needle better on the needle yeah and what i do is so i had 64 stitches on here so i picked up 32 stitches and i'm going to leave uh i'm going to leave actually one on each end that i'm not going to pick out because that just helps to close up the gap yes and then how you measure like how you figure out where to put that is you just measure your like put hold it up against your foot up until the front of your heel like where your heels like where your heels gonna start yeah and then you knit your heel the exact same way as you would do your toe so you're just doing a decrease round like every other round yeah whatever decrease every other round like like knit once ssk and then to three before the end knit two together yeah yeah and then do it going back and going back okay yeah every other row and then when did you stop like when did you decide to stop with how many left on the needle i did the same as my toes so i did 14 um on my toe so i did actually you know what i think i did my heel a little bit wider you you really because you can see it you just do it to how long you want it you could probably try it on too right yeah you can see it yeah yeah yeah nice that's cool that's it it's fun this has made me enjoy knitting socks a lot more because i don't i don't enjoy doing um the gusset i don't know why i don't mind doing the gusset i don't like the feel of it on my foot yeah so i don't mind it to me it's worth it but this does look very nice and i may try it i'll be watching you tonight when you start unraveling to figure it out a bit more yeah i like it it's it's yeah um and it fits up if it's okay like i've made a couple like this now and um i don't have any problems nice yeah that's good yeah so it's awesome that's it cool there's so many different techniques you can try and everything oh and somebody in um our show notes last time sent a pattern just for heels and it has right yeah it's a free pattern and it's amazing like next time i do socks i'm going to look at the options in there all different kinds of heels to do nice it's really thank you for that yeah i'll i'll put the link to this pattern because i can't remember what it's called in our show notes for this week so if you're interested um you can go have a look at that cool yeah it's a pattern unravel me it's fun trying different things too because there are so many different techniques nowadays yeah and like we just have access to a lot more information why not try it and see if there's a better one i'm definitely going to try that i'm going to watch you for tonight and see how it goes but i'm going to try it in one of my pairs yeah i think i'm going to too yeah yeah nice that's cool so that's fos and half objects whips whips okay who wants to go i have none no nope cause i casted this off oh right i have my hoagie sweater but it's in the exact same spot it was when we showed it the last time so that's what i'll be working on tonight but i'm not gonna show it okay so um i have a couple i have three i have a couple three i can always i can always i was just looking and i'm like a couple oh wait three yeah i can always count on you to have some lipsticks i love it okay so um i signed up for uh for a test knit for jenny f who is sweater freak um knits on insta i think she's just no sweater freak on insta maybe sweater freaking it's on ravelry i'm not sure anyways um she i love her patterns i've i've tested it for her many many times and i swear every time i do a test knit for her i learn something new like she's just has a very unique and very special way of writing patterns and i love them um so anyway she put out a test call i guess it was last week for a new hat pattern and it's called the wisdom cube hat it's really i love it it's a mosaic design and you use two different colors and every but every other row you only use one color for every row i guess that's what i'm trying to say so um so my main color is um this one do you want to hold it up yep it's called the night on the town and it's by life in the long grass that's so pretty very interesting very good i love the purples and orangey tones together yeah and i've had this in my stash for a very long time like i would say probably more than two years so i was so excited to pull it out and use it for this pattern and then the other color is called toffee and it's by shellwood ridge yarns which is uh look fairly local to us we have seen her boosts that um different yarn festivals and stuff oh back in the day yeah when i could do that right um so yeah so the hat isn't released yet i'm not sure when she's going to release it but i thought i'd show it because it's beautiful i love it yeah it's so pretty i don't these two colors complement each other so well yeah like it's beautiful and i love mosaic knitting i'm gonna hold it up closer yeah you can see it because if you look closely actually you can see a cube oh you could see it yeah oh could you yeah now i can see a cube that's cool it's like three-dimensional yeah it's so cool i love it awesome i want to make that totally so yeah so um if you haven't heard uh sweater freak or jenny f um check out her patterns they're amazing i couldn't i could not say anything but great things about them yeah it a lot for just i have yeah i have yeah yeah so that's that was kind of fun to cast on um i'm sure i'll have it done by next podcast and maybe it'll be released too that's exciting nice i want to buy it when it comes out it feels good too like it's got a high squish factor to it and it's got good stride yeah i just think it's great yeah yes um do you have a whip yeah okay so this whip is um a ho he sweater so i showed this on the last episode i was hoping to get it finished but i just couldn't quite get it done it was so so close so this is part of this is the sweater you're knitting for her netherlands yeah yeah yeah team team polo pullover so it's a super simple sweater is that it super super super simple summer sweater um and this is it so i am almost i'm just working on the front ribbing at the bottom and then i have one more sleeve and then i'll be finished i made it quite a bit longer than the pattern calls for like i think with the pattern it would have been about this long so it's a little bit cropped yeah it is on her it's a little bit cracked so i wanted to make it like i wanted a longer sweater that i can wear tights under um because a lot of my sweaters recently have been cropped so i'm just craving like a longer sweater it was super easy to add more length to it yeah um i am using the one roxy wool it's absolutely perfect for this sweater it is their what's the base again anyway it's 50 well 50 cotton and it's just their organic blend yeah and that cup the one color the purple is called eggplant and the i call it brown but it's probably more of a taupe yeah it's the number two um some people are asking on the last um episode yeah they're natural colors that they don't put any color in like these ones they just number them yeah yeah like one through four yeah and i think they complement each other perfectly yeah they look great yeah i'm really excited to and it's worsted weight yeah the worsted weight yes yeah so it's actually a fairly quick knit like you know if you were to go away like i did when i knit mine probably within two to three weeks yeah for sure because the last episode i showed i think i was just starting the brown i don't think i'd separated it yet and i also yeah it looks nice i like those colors together me too yeah so that's it awesome and i love that the sweater came or the wool came with i use my bag all the time that's it i will too it's a nice it's handy it is handy enough like nice and soft yeah you can stuff lots of stuff okay so i just need to get a little organized here oh so i'm going to show you i have been working um a little bit on my shawl for my friend sarah and i've gotten to the middle and a little bit past so i'm actually decreasing now and it's oh my gosh this thing is gigantic it's amazing so this is the lava lake by stephen wesley i think it's upside down dude okay that's that's right oh okay um so when you can see maybe if i hold it up maybe you can't yeah you can right there so right there is the point so that's the halfway mark and now i'm just knitting what i've knit right there on this side so it's gonna be so huge um but i love it i think it's so pretty uh my friend loves it she's seen it a couple of times and it's gorgeous like she just loves it it's definitely her color palette yeah um and the yarn that i'm using is from northbound knitting who is also canadian um i don't know i don't know if i have well i do have the colors here so the orangey color is called it looks like a copper penny saffron oh yeah it's a five color shawl so it has a ton of colors and then comes this one i don't know how to say it it's called flotsam i can't read that's not i think so flotsam so that's this color we we could be saying that totally wrong i'm sure we are and then the next color which is the bluey color is called title like a tidal wave and then uh vertigan or vertigyn is the green color which is hard to see in this lighting okay i don't know really if you can see that or not oh yeah you can barely tell the yeah it blends yeah and then down the middle i have the colorway called espresso awesome yeah so it's coming i'm gonna focus a little bit more on this because i'd like to get it off my needles yeah um and i'd like to give it to her i intend to give it to her for her birthday which is in the beginning of november so i still have time but i just want to get it done yeah and for steven west shawls honestly it's a very relaxing very easy knit and very traditional looking it's not yeah wild like some of them which i think are fun yeah i love it i i'm going to knit it again because i wanted it one for myself eventually so i i'd recommend it it's great all right uh one more fo yeah um so june's talked before about knitting her oh i want to mention my best this is a cute bag where is this from um this one is i feel like it's uh oh it's my hair it's um stitches that is adorable it is cute and this is the one where you can pull oh yeah the inside of it out oh nice to close all your stuff in so it comes like that and you can tighten it up and keep everything safe inside nice isn't that awesome cute bag um so june is has she's mentioned on other podcasts knitting her uh the girlfriend cardi by anna strict and uh i casted mine on so let me take that i've been wanting to knit the sweater cardigan for a long long time and so i'm happy to get it on the needles i haven't had a lot of time to spend with it but i'm just glad it's on the needle so i can just pick it up you know when i have time to continue knitting it there's like little flecks of colors in there it's really pretty yeah it is really pretty so the it's knit with stranded with a fingering yarn um which i got the art fill bell base and the main in the it's called winter and it's got little flecks of like red and there's even yellow in there a bit of blue and some pink yeah that's pretty and then i'm stranding it with those aloft knit picks um in the color silver yeah yeah i know i the art fill i don't know the combination of art filled belle with um the mohair it just makes it so silky it is it's the art fill yarn is plump so i like it it's really nice yeah it's like so soft it's um you could use this for socks because it's actually 80 20 so 80 percent merino wool 20 nylon can you imagine this on your feet oh be glorious be heaven yeah that would be it's like walking on a cloud so i haven't gotten too far on this um sweater i think i'm working on the collar right now is that right it doesn't have a collar but you're working on the back yeah so i'm working on the back and the drop sleeve so it's gonna it's like this yeah yeah it has a really nice icord edging which i love because it's so neat and it looks beautiful i think yeah um yeah it's top down has pockets um so hopefully i can start working on this a little bit more nice it's a relaxing knit too yeah it's nice yeah so yay i love that bag yeah so cute i like the colors um her the lady who makes these bags her name is catherine and she lives in sarnia ontario so she's super local to us and um she makes beautiful beds yeah she's been doing it for a long time and you can tell like her craftsmanship is amazing and she always has such nice fabric that she uses i love it i do too yeah yeah yeah even her face master nice i bought a couple face masks from her super nice yeah good quality yeah so that's all my whips do you have any more in june nope all right should we talk about our stephen west yes so we're joining the upcoming stephen west m cal slip extravaganza we've never done one of his so he's been cows no so we're so excited we attended his um webinar that he had a couple weeks ago and it was so much fun it was a lot of fun yeah about colors and how to pick your colors and he's hysterical he is the funniest stories yeah he's just so awesome yeah his yarn phone calls and his instagram stories so he's just really good at getting everybody excited and the thing about the webinar it was like a color theory webinar it was not participatory like you just kind of watched him but it was live but he really um helped and gave a lot of good suggestions on how to pick colors that coordinate well together and my favorite thing that he showed us was how to do a lazy swatch so we'll show you because i've got and also when you buy the pattern like i know tons of people are going to participate and have probably bought the pattern but in the so he ha he's releasing the first clue on october the 9th but you get like an introductory about the shawl and you know colors and that sort of thing but he shows you how to do the lazy swatch in the introductory um part of the pattern which you get immediately yeah so it's a four color shawl it's going to be huge because it's five skeins again like the lava lake so it's going to be massive which makes me so happy oh me too so really you have two skeins of like your main color and then three contrasting colors so june did the lazy swatch to see how her colors would contrast together which is such a great idea to do it yeah i gotta tell you i spent a whole saturday lazy swatching all my yard and i kept sending these guys pictures with how's this look how does that look like honestly lazy swatching in of itself is a fun hobby so because i didn't want to have to buy yarnick i was i was determined i'm going to find something in my stash so this is what i came up with and the thing is the blue the navy blue is going to be the main color so we wanted like it has to come like if you want it contrasted you don't have to contrast it there's different ways that you can do it like but we we kind of i mean i want high contrast yeah so yep so i was really happy with that and i'm going to do mine um he recommends like a more of a toothy yarn so like you could use um super wash yarn or a nap like a non-super washed yarn but he wants it to have a little bit of structure to it yeah so anyway i'm doing mine half um holster so my whole scar colors are these two and they're attached to my lazy swatch yeah and then the pink one so those are holes and then i'm pairing it with superwash so that i love that yarn i bought that at uh um spun right round i think and then i love this one as well this is um hedgehog fibers okay yeah and they're both single ply so i thought that they they would work well with the with the holst mm-hmm because they're the whole is to single-ply too even though it's not worse um not uh super watch right yeah so anyway me too do you want me to do mine sure i'll just stand up here and thank you you're vana yeah your vanna okay so i haven't 100 decided on my contrasting colors but this is definitely going to be my main color oh yeah so it's a yarn ink i've had this in my stash for probably more than a couple of years so i'm so excited to pull it out and use it the colorway is called phoenix i don't know if she still offers that colorway or not but um it's just like a dark gray and it's got pinks and oranges there's a bit of yellow in there and i love it i'm so excited to knit with yeah um so i initially had some colors that i was gonna use and i still may that's so pretty use these here i'm going to take this out yeah yeah i should have done that before sorry um so initially i was going to use these three as the contrast to the colors um but then i was looking at the main color and with the orange and the yellow in there i thought wouldn't it be nice to have your orange and yellow in there yeah so either would be beautiful yeah so i may still go with that but this is what i'm considering i love that i may change it to that so i ordered the orange and the yellow and it would be this pink and that pink yeah okay oh that would be nice yeah so i'm gonna wait to get it before i completely decide do your lazy swatch all i know is for sure i'm gonna use the yarn yes yeah that's beautiful and then the other yarns all of the other contrasting color like when i get the yellow and the orange as well they're all from midnight and she they have their two sisters i think that run the company and their yarn is so nice i've knit with it before and i love it and so is the yarn ink which is also canadian yeah so yeah so i'm going to have to make some decisions june's right lazy swatch yes i will did we see what lazy swatch is you just wrap your yarn okay you said i think so i think we did yeah well i mean it's basically what you showed just wrap your yarn around the cardboard yeah um and then i dove into my stash as well and pulled out so this will be my main color which is midnight cravings oh yeah and the colorway is smoke and mirrors it's a nice leather nice gray so that's some tunnels yeah and then i'm matching it with um polka dot creek yarns and their classic sock which is also canadian dyer in these three this one is called frost and this one is charcoal nice and this one is spruce so all three of those with the gray i think is going to be perfect so it's going to be perfect yeah love it beautifully yeah super excited to wind this up and cast on on october 9th yeah it's going to be fun october 9th is the start of the thanksgiving weekend so there's plenty of knitting time available yeah since it's a long weekend yay that's pretty is this like does it have a tinge of blue in it i don't think so no it's just gray black all black yeah okay so there's the stephen west cow knit along if you're interested well it's a mystery knit along so you're not gonna exactly know what you're knitting um i think all together there are four clues yeah yes and it's over four weeks and every every week for four weeks he'll release a new clue yeah yeah yeah so we're trying not to have too many projects on the go because we want to be able to concentrate because like if it's five skeins of yarn that's yeah i imagine it's going to be a lot in line knitting yeah but so fun i know i'm excited excited and this stuff is so much fun yeah um carrie did you want to tell us about your bag too because that's so cute oh yeah my favorite bag girl um this is the jay hendry design jessica um bag jessica she also has the half of full moon fibers with her sister allison this is just one of her drawstring yarn gold eggs it's all canvas and she stamped the fabric paint on and i love the colors i love her bags i have one exactly like that but it's all black yeah yeah so nice leather handle yeah and her logo is imprinted on the handle which is very subtle yeah oh yeah i love that bag i didn't talk about mine too because i use this one a lot this is from poppycod and um it's a drawstring bag too really pretty fabric inside and it's got this nice little handle and i use this bag often i do with mine too um the beaver one the canada one mine the hamper the camper yeah so cute it's a good size like you could do a fingering weight sweater in here perfect for a shawl yeah and uh i really like it nice yeah love it all right um i think that's pretty much it i think that's all we have to show we don't really have any acquisitions other than our yarn for the steep on my shelf yep yeah i think that's it yeah so yeah so thank you everyone for tuning in um thank you to all our
