dearborn michigan where it will build an electric version of its extremely popular pickup truck the f-150 the new facility located within the automaker's historic rouge complex will be completed in time to start production on the new electric truck slated for mid-2022 ford is spending 700 million dollars to build the rouge electric vehicle center which in addition to the electric f-150 will also host production for the new f-150 power boost hybrid the ultimaker says the new facility will support 300 new jobs in battery assembly and production of the f-150 power boost hybrid and fully electric f-150 gary johnson ford's chief manufacturing said that it would be the company's most technologically advanced plant in the world and be flexible enough to accommodate additional vehicle lines by focusing on how much an electric drivetrain reduces the total cost of ownership on a pickup used for business ford may be saying the purchase price won't be cheap a law depends on how big a battery pack the customer actually orders the more batteries will mean more weight range and eventually cost at a briefing last week kumar galhutra ford's president of the americas and international markets group projected that the lifetime cost of operation which excludes the purchase price of an electric f-150 will be about half that of the current generation vehicle this estimate takes into account zero gas or oil usage consumption it also presumes low electric charging rates and lower maintenance costs which means increased vehicle uptime you probably can imagine by now that there will be no
