Easily one of my favourite Foo's songs. It is so meaningful lyrically and speaks to so many people. As for the instrumentation, normally I think to myself: "they could have done this differently" but not on These Days- everything is perfect. This is a song that's been in my playlist since the moment I heard it and still listen to all the time to this very day!
So slept on. I always get this angsty kinda hyped revenge kinda feeling when I listen to it- kinda like a "fuck you" to my ex but more eloquent
I didnβt really care for the song, but when I saw the Foos live for the first time, the performance was so emotional and angsty (made me cry a little Iβll admit), dancing to it live was so liberating and I loved how pleasantly surprised I was by its effect on me. Since then itβs been a favorite.
This is hands down my favorite song of all time. I cried when I saw this song live and I sing out loud everytime.
"One of these days Your heart will stop and play its final beat."
There's something so calming about that phrase. It's OK. Dying happens, and it's all part of a bigger thing. The rest of the song is awesome in all ways. It also gets me how on a live version (Reading festival 2012), he dedicates it to "two people that couldn't be here tonight".
This song gave me my first sense of existentialism back when I was 15, it'll always have a special place in my heart.
Honestly (probably getting flack for this) I thought this was peak Foos. Iβve never experienced a song as powerful lyrically AND instrumentally like These Days for me. It helps in any type of mood (for me). And it just sounds so eloquently angry/forward if that makes sense. Itβs the perfect song, imo.
Wasting Light is the best album π
Two of my favourite songs are both called These Days. This and one by Powder Finger. I love this. I think this will be my funeral song.
