went for a walk feed one soggy tubs come on then there you go go and eat it all up then [Music] [Music] avocado do the vacuuming clean the bathroom go oh it's so wet and miserable out here never mind i'm gonna find something to do aren't we something and now for some photography yeah this is my favorite bit of the day i think so can't go outside it's absolutely miserable absolutely piddling it down as you saw and um it's a bit dull i've already got wet with a walk so some indoor photography today and here we have beauty personified in this gorgeous bunch of flowers a bit past their cell by day but they're still you still can photograph them i've still got some beauty left in them marvelous different colors different shades of pink some nice soft pinks going on there and some diffused light coming in because it's rubbish weather outside best time to have diffused light coming into your window is when it's overcast and the um the light's not too harsh so here we are and yes it was like a florist here a couple of weeks ago because it was my birthday and i'm not afraid to say i was 56 years old so that time of your life now where you know where you're at you know who you are and you feel comfortable in your own skin and i'm feeling very happy my own skin at 56 so that's fine yes it's like a florist and um got these beautiful gorgeous flowers from my lovely daughter-in-law so uh oh they were so lovely do you know they came in a flat box and they were all kind of um they were wet but not opened and they had some gel kind of on the bottom of them and it's weird because when you first put them in the vars you think oh gosh they don't look like they're gonna blossom or bloom or anything you you think they're half dead and they're not off i had these flowers from my daughter-in-law before and they last and last and last and they're beautiful so yeah wonderful so we're going to do some soft focusing on certain parts of the areas of the stamen on some of these flowers here we've got some kind of thistle like looking flowers as well so we probably do um do you know wish i knew the names some of these i should have kept the card but i'm sure some of you know the names of them carnations they're easy to remember lovely dusky pinky roses with two tones of pink in them to show that texture those layers and everything so we're gonna have some fun with some floral photography i think looking forward to it haven't done some and in the winter all doom and gloom we've got to have some bright chirpy flowers going on haven't we so yeah let's get stuck in then i'll i'll just bring this um rose up for you i think it needs turning round a little bit towards the light though because it's a bit dark over there and i'm just get it in position it's all going to be on live view today so that i can just do the focusing got me um tripod for a change that is for a change for me isn't it because i don't know but indoors you have to use it because you haven't got this shutter speed there and the only way you can get the shutter speed is by really boosting the iso iso up to do it handheld and then it will be as noisy as hell your picture will be it'll be all grainy and horrible so you do need your tripod so here it is how pretty is that it's wonderful isn't it very nice still still um see there's still a photograph in some of these flowers even if they are past their best there we go [Music] so okay then let's get this image taken this beautiful beautiful rose and what i've just done i've just put my um my camera on timer and hopefully it'll do this two-second timing i'm just gonna check that actually because i'm not sure whether i left it on two seconds or not uh do second delay number of shots one brilliant that's what i wanted so let's go back on live view let's um let's get in a bit closer so as you as you can with your with your tripod right and use your plus magnify that in either go out out to in or into out just so that you know you focus stacked it um it it properly it has got the it has got the choice of the in-camera focus stacking but i've tried it before and it's i don't rate it very much so i always always do it manually really because then you know it's right don't you so i'm going to put that up too because i want a soft background soft ish background i've got it on 6.3 putting my iso right down to 100 which comes up as a one second gonna take one second to take the shot so i think we're ready uh as i said i've got the uh two second timers so that should be fine and i'm going from out to in brilliant plus it again go across another one and hopefully by doing it this way it will cover all areas of the of the rose all those little indentations the depths of it as well getting deep into those deep crevices of the rose oh i do love the two tones of this rose though it's rather beautiful rather beautiful let's carry on carry on carry on carry on close it as much as you like it tends to i don't know whether you've noticed this when you're you're manually focusing my camera tends to um do that little click when it kind of knows it's it's in focus it i've noticed this before and i don't know whether it's a thing i haven't really looked up the technical side of the manual focus on whether it should make a clicking noise but it tends to make a little clicking noise when when you've manually focused it and it's in focus do you know what that's all about or whether i'm right or wrong or whether i'm just hearing things might just be hearing things might not maybe i want to get my ears checked and also sometimes because there's still a little bit of movement when you're focusing maybe just give it a little bit of time to settle down and then take the shot and i'm just going to carry on with this and give it my full concentration now and i don't know about you i do love taking my photos my images but i tend to get a real good buzz out of the process post processing because you know then you're getting towards the finished um finished image don't you and you look at it afterwards and see what you've accomplished and it's quite self-satisfying isn't it and i think that's why i know it's about nature and it's about the beauty of photography and the art of photography but it's also accomplishing that image that you'd like to think other people would admire as well and there's a bit of self-gratification there okay i'm just going to look at some of these images making just to make sure that they're in focus and they're looking rather nice so that's great take some multiple exposures now let's turn that off okay one d4 and i'm gonna do it um handheld because it doesn't matter if it's iso doesn't matter if it's a bit blurry and not in focus because it's an over it's a it's a 10 10 image multiple exposure and so none of that matters really he's doing it for the pattern you're doing it for the texture you're doing it so you can have an overlay so let's have a look i'm on f4 i've got i've just put these settings on and iso 1250 i'm in aperture priority because that's my best mode that i like working with because i like keeping control of my aperture rather than my shutter speed and the rest is taken care of then by by the shutter speed isn't it but in order to increase the shutter speed you have to put your iso up don't you there you go and that's your exposure triangle and i'm just gonna i'm gonna have some of these on manual focus on this one so doesn't matter if it's slow like i said because you're just doing it for the overlay really lovely i might want to take one of the whole the whole bouquet you know just to get all of those colors in why not [Applause] do it from different angles different distances different angles it doesn't matter does it that's a bit different that one and you can even though i've taken a picture of a rose doesn't mean i'm going to do a multiple exposure of a rose to go over the rose i might want to use the whole bunch of the flowers where i've just done that multiple exposure then use that as an overlay because some of them work out very very nicely okay that's enough for the multiple exposure let's put it back on that tripod uh right multiple exposure let's turn it off now so just do the opposite of what you did to get it on in it [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] okay let's have a look i'm looking for some dainty bits should have a go incarnation i'm not sure about carnations i don't they don't tend to work out with me for some reason i think it's because they're all over the place actually let's do some of these stamen here first i just want to get actually oh there's a little drip on the end of that one i think it's because they're going over now you know that so yeah let's try that let's quite let me show you see whether i can get that up here we are can you see that that's pretty amazing isn't it that little little drop of jewel something that's come out in the flower maybe it's been a nectar i don't know but it's um it's just stood out for me and that's that little simple little details of simplicity they all counting things like this so i'm not gonna do a focus stack oh well i will but just on that little bit of jew and the stem that it's on [Music] [Music] [Music] now then i'm not keen on i do like carnations but i'm not keen on photographing them as i think i said before they're a bit all over the place a bit random they're sticky here and there so it's difficult to get um i think a perfect image of a carnation unless you're right about far away where it all kind of your depth of field is sharper um so what i'm doing is i've focused in on an area if i can just keep some going out of i have focused in on an area where i believe the patterning of these pink come white petals and kind of form this pattern that's quite pretty really where it's kind of zigzagging and layering so i'm going to try and do a little bit of an abstract with this so if i bring this up for you and i am going to put it up quite high the f stop because the layering on this will be oh it'll be um quite hard the focus stacking i should think so right if i put this on video for you you can see what i mean and it's these little elements that i'm that i was saying earlier that's what you've got to look for in your bunch of flowers so uh if you have a look at that you can see what i mean by the layering on it and um hopefully this will turn out quite nicely let's take this off record uh put it back on camera so handy to have these flip screens especially when you're doing something from above saves you crouching down all the time so if hopefully you've got one as well because it's a good investment and a good um a good extra little bit of kit on your camera really isn't it so i've got it on oh let's do on an f i'm on iso 200 i'm on an f8 and it's every half a second the shutter speed on this so i've got to be very careful i'm on me i've got my timer on again manually focus on those areas that you want so use your magnification your plus sign or i can see a little bit dust on some of these petals but i can get rid of those in the post-processing can't i so just because you're right up close this uh you will you will find that you need a higher depth of field you you need your f-stop to be quite high really um your aperture to be quite small to get that sharpness when you're right up close i'm going to stop so let's see when you're on floorboards you've got to be so careful i'll carry on with this and hopefully this will turn out very nicely as well see what you think [Music] [Music] topsy's come and join us haven't you hey have you come and joined us yes you're missing mummy while she's doing a photography have a look out the window see if you can see any squirrels just like his squirrel gets the shakes when he sees the squirrel gets all excited don't you okay then i don't know what this flower is i'm going to put it on the screen for you you probably wouldn't know what it is it's pretty i'm record here we go and what i like about this flower is how it's um the color diffusion diffusion on it and how it kind of gently softly goes from green to cream to a movie purpley pinky color and those blends of color really itsy it's very pretty isn't it that i would say that this is it's um that's the positives about this flower the blends of color and how they kind of softly blend out into other colours really so yeah like the little petals on it in this something although i'll probably do a crop on this one because it looks a bit messy on the surrounding areas so um yeah let's just put that up and again because you you're quite close up to it go nuts with your um not two nuts so that it it's because if you go too far with your f point it can have the opposite effect so midway in between i'm i'm on an f10 at the moment it's giving me half a second shutter speed and i've had to boost my iso up to 400 but that's still fine it's still within um it's still an okay eye so it's not going to be all grainy horrible so let's focus in on the middle bit i'm going into out this time still on two second time at that middle bit let's get that done go out a little bit further and i'll carry on with these [Music] [Music] so you can see i've just kind of protruded this one rose out because i want it separated from all of the rest because i want to take a nice shallow depth of field of this rose with a really lovely soft background too i don't know bring out it it deserves to be isolated a beautiful rose doesn't it because you you want it isolated all by itself just to kind of show off its beauty really don't you so i've got a lovely shallow depth of field on this it's let's put it up a little bit more a knife of f4b just nice this rub coming in with my cover [Music] he's nosy that's what it is tubsy's nosy so i'll have a slurp so yeah i'm gonna i'm gonna go in a little bit further because i that's it i'll still do a little focus stack i just want that background or blurred right so let's get this up for you here you go here it is my pretty little rose it's a bit dog-eared but it's got a bit of character to it then isn't it so i'll just do a little bit of a focus stack on that just to get all those different areas i don't want to uh so i've got on a very soft shallow aperture so very large aperture and uh get that off record now let's just make sure that's yeah lovely so i've got it on an f4 at the moment i don't really want to go any more than oh good no no i want it oh let's do a 3.5 let's go mad i've got a tenth of a second at the moment uh it's on 3.5 and an iso let's put the iso down and it will be yeah iso 250 a sixth of a second magnifying to use that plus sign to get you sharp detail as much as possible and i'm going out and coming in okay that's how i'm doing it so this is going to be my last one just slight little movements on me lens just so i know i've got it all i'll just carry on with this [Music] [Music] so yes it then you come and have a little little bit of time with mummy didn't you then came back to daddy and that's it well have you doing anything different he just flips about from one room to another constantly isn't it he's just wanting when we've got zoom calls going on with the kids it really freaks him out because he recognizes all their voices but he can't work out where it's coming from they're a bit weird aren't they tv um you know he's thinking that they're here really perfect but you'll understand one day hopefully anyway i just thought that rob could say a quick hello and we've had a bit of flower power today aren't we in this miserable weather but um what a day yeah it's been horrible honey i think the worst thing after about having such a miserable today yesterday and today is on monday when we went for a bike ride we caught a nice four-hour window which was quite pleasant thursday i was zombing and r and whether to go for another ride and probably decided not to because kim wasn't afraid she was doing some work and stuff but like since then it's shut down and we're back to where we were just wet and windy instead of snow really yeah so so it's just just when the sun does come out like on thursday you go up the garden you realize that spring is just just that far away like you know come on we just can't wait to get on that game waiting to get on the bus can't wait to get in the garden can't wait to get out and about in the motorhome when all this uh lockdown ends but until then we we stay local and we we're all right yeah we'll check the image actually where you're looking at now in case you see it through the window i don't think it can go no i've already showed them the rain it's a little ball no i'm ready to see the most room [Music] anyway thanks very much for watching it's been a pleasure hope i gave you some inspiration with some flowers on a wet miserable horrible day bye petal and by pedal yes i love you and leave you and say bye until next time thanks for watching
