the taxi was 35 bring it to get here there's something in there oh my gosh [Music] yesterday we took a short three-hour flight from Kuala Lumpur to Southeast Asia's largest and most rugged Island and we arrived here in Malaysian Borneo or more specifically the state of Sabah now Borneo is one of just two places in the entire world that you can see Wild orangutans which is exactly what we're about to do we have just arrived at the sepulok orangutan Rehabilitation we had to pay 30 Ringgit each to enter and then an extra 10 ring it to bring our camera we also had to buy some face masks to come in here I guess so we don't spread diseases because as we all know orangutans are a highly endangered species and this is one of the few places in the world that you can even see them and that are basically working to rehabilitate the species so we're walking along this platform and I'm pretty sure at any moment there will be an orangutan we don't know where they're gonna go they are wild but they are also have a supplemental feeding originally we were supposed to do a guided tour here unfortunately our tour never showed and they didn't come pick us up so we jumped in a taxi and we heard something big we jumped in a taxi and made our own way here and then just paid the regular entrance fees the taxi was 35 minutes to get here there's something in there oh my God enough damn oh my God this is absolutely gorgeous okay the trees are so yeah the trees are huge second though Safari in South Africa whenever someone's stopping we always wonder something's happening yeah running oh there's a bunch of cars over there hyenas the separlock orangutan Rehabilitation Reserve was opened in 1964 for orphaned baby orangutans they were rescued from logging sides from hunters from people just keeping them as pets and they were actually trained to survive on the wild in their own once they were able to do that they actually released them into this Reserve to Survive and Thrive and rebuild the orangutan Community this Reserve covers just over 10 000 acres and it's a protected area and around 60 to 80 orangutans actually live in this area stop where where oh my God oh my God [Music] oh my God this might be the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life it looks like me before I have my coffee in the morning he's just not ready yet so we've just been walking through the park and the Park is open all day long you can come at any time and see the orangutans but they have two feeding times at 10 A.M and 3 P.M and it's 10 to 10 to 10 now so there's two orangutans who have come to this area which is the feeding area and I'm assuming more will kind of come as it gets closer to 10 o'clock apparently they feed them a really boring dietary supplement because they don't want to encourage the orangutans to rely on the food here that they give at the rehabilitation center they really want the orangutans to learn to thrive on their own in the wild so by giving them something that's very boring to them that they're less likely to rely on that food rather than going out and finding what they would enjoy more right now there's what I think is an adolescent orangutan right here and he keeps pulling with this smaller monkey and they're like sweating at each other like siblings it's so cute so like the orangutans just became really active and there's a lot of people here now and one of the guides has just walked out with a big basket on his back I'm assuming full of food [Music] [Music] come on [Music] to you [Music] [Music] [Music] this has already been so amazing and well worth the trip out here from Santa candle to Borneo in general a woman being able to see two orangey things so far but I think we're gonna go for a walk around the park and hopefully we'll get to see a few more that was one of the best things we've ever done in our life orangutans are top of our bucket list and we're so glad that we came here it is well worth the trip out to Borneo to be able to experience that now that the feeding time is over we're gonna keep walking around the nature reserve and hopefully we'll be able to find some more also I just want to say we do not have the equipment for National Geographic kind of footage so I did the best I could they were quite far we don't have a very good lens as well but we can definitely hear there's a lot going on so hopefully we're gonna try to record a few cool things that we can get to see we did hear from a guard here that the song we heard was an actual elephant so we thought it was the sound of an orangutan thing as well so we're gonna maybe bump into one no no maybe okay we made it to a nursery building I don't know if we'll get to see anything but I will see a baby orangutan thank you [Music] foreign [Music] actually sadly say that 10 percent of old orangutans in the reserve were there so I was like 10 of all of them which is incredible but also very very sad yeah there was a lot of them and surprisingly there was a feeding somebody as well so we arrived it was no one yeah so we got very lucky yeah honestly that was such a special experience I'm so so glad that we came here it's just something I've always always wanted to do but never really thought I was going to so really really happy they're so cute beautiful animals yeah they're very they have all this distinguishment that you can sort of relate to them I mean obviously not dangling upside down their facial expressions and the way they touch each other it's so nice you can't relate to them yeah but fortunately enough there is another very cool attraction right across the street almost from here so we're gonna go check that out yes let's go so directly across from the orangutan Rehabilitation Center is our next general I'm so excited to see them here how small they are gonna be bigger than that oh they're so cute okay let's go find them so they are really tiny as we just saw but but apparently because bornean summers are half the size of the other species which is Malayan salt [Music] foreign [Music] ERS than the orangutans because they are in a very dense foresty area so you might see them for a moment then they kind of hide so it's a pretty short platform that you walk around unfortunately the enclosures they have are not very big and they don't have very much land so one of the guys were telling us that they actually have more bears than they should at the moment because they don't have enough space to put them but it is something that they are working on they're hoping to grow and hoping in the future that they'll have more space for more bears so that they can begin breeding them so it was 50 ring it per person to enter this one and 100 worth it because you know that every time you come to conservation places like this everything you pay here is going straight to the conservation of those animals so a really nice experience although very short and now we are off to see another native animal in Borneo which is I'm pretty sure only found in Borneo but let me double check just in case so like we already mentioned altuo was canceled so our next stop is actually half an hour drive from here and it's on the coast which is apparently where you can find probiscus monkeys they are those weird looking monkeys with the big noses and they are native to Borneo here so we're gonna see if we can get a taxi to go there but we're not 100 sure if we're gonna be able to but we'll try Okay so we've been using grab taxi the whole time in Southeast Asia because it's much more popular than Uber and we are a half an hour drive from the closest town I just called a grab to take us even further away from town and it confirms immediately and it's 28th Ringgit which is super cheap that's amazing I love Borneo our grab driver is amazing we've been having a great chat without him and he's been telling us a lot about the palm oil Farms here um it was really cute he personally apologized which was like obviously it's on him it was very adorable Max is out there now buying our tickets to get into the Lubbock Bay probiscus monkey sanctuary and apparently the viewing time or the time that they feed them so that you can get a good view it's not until 2 30. so what we're gonna do is maybe get some lunch first we might not have enough money now driver is actually paying for our entrance because we didn't bring enough cash so luckily we have an amazing driver and uh yeah we're gonna have to stop and get some cash out for him pay him back so this is basically turned into a tour we've just stopped on the side of the road because there's some silver lips monkeys right there so we just love to have a quick look I've never seen them before and apparently they don't know any like you're a regular Southeast Asian monkeys but we're gonna carry on now and see if we can go find those probiscus monkeys okay so we drove for the last 45 minutes to this jungle this Mangrove actually which is crazy to know that this is where the those monkeys natural habitat is and our grab driver Artie is a legend and now he's our tour guide yeah part of the tour though yeah and he's actually really knowledgeable he's been teaching us a lot about like the palm oil and you know who owns it it's 50 government 50 private and all this other stuff about the workers and a lot about the monkeys and this particular sanctuary as well which is apparently privately owned we didn't know that the Palm was the reason why I mentioned time was because to get here we go through a huge field of palm oil which is on the same property of where those monkeys are yes so they discovered that the monkeys were living in this Mangrove in 2001 and then they opened up this Sanctuary for tourists to come and do them basically just walking and he's right there and he has a huge nose oh my God I think this might be my favorite animal I've ever seen chips it's so ridiculous looking like this big nose it's so funny this might be my favorite day ever length is animals at a beautiful Majestic to see like when we saw lions in South Africa but these ones are just funny I think the uranium tanks as well they were beautiful to see they're super calm and elegant with these guys when he rubbed his nose on the tree trunk and it got stuck up they're still waiting for feeding time it's still very early we're just getting some shade and the monkey just ran across the roof like crazy it was so loud because it's a tin roof so the guy went down um [Music] foreign Joker which on the first one there so they're just walking along the platform where the humans are supposed to be standing to get to the platforms where the foods are and already our great new tour guide has just told us that this guy over here is actually the leader his name is Joker [Music] I just froze like if I don't move hopefully they'll think I'm not a threat [Music] this is a very interactive experience babies [Music] thank you [Music] [Applause] [Music] thank you [Music] the orangutans what we were most excited about to see here in Borneo but coming to the probiscus monkeys has been experience there's so much more like interactive and they come so close to you and they're really energetic they get the love activity going on with them so they've actually been a real special experience a real treat to actually see them and experience them we're not 100 sure whether we're doing something typical because when we were originally coming here we thought it was a proboscis monkeys sanctuary as the name would indicate but when we arrived we realized we're coming onto private property and this is actually a privately owned sanctuary and we're not 100 sure whether it's good or bad so wow oh my God the amount of crazy thing we saw today yeah wow that was in the uniqueness of the crazy things yeah yeah like the sun bears the orangutans those crazy looking monkeys that is just what a great day a great start to Borneo epic start to point out but pretty much our job now is to get back to town uh pay our amazing driver back the money he wants us to actually get in here and then yeah we're pretty much gonna end the day here so thanks for watching this amazing Safari of wilderness yes we hope you enjoyed this first Vlog in Borneo and stay tuned because we've got another adventure coming bye oh [Music] [Music]
