(vibrant music) - Hey guys, welcome to today's Flosstube. I'm Kimberly with Fat Quarter Shop and I have a lot of
cross stitch to show you. I think you're gonna
love what we have today because we have a lot of
variety, a lot of stuff so we're gonna have something that will appeal to everybody. I did wanna announce that we started a cross stitch
pattern sale this morning. On Fat Quarter Shop, you can get any cross
stitch pattern 20% off. The code that you need
to use in the coupon box is stitch 20. It's not gonna be automatically taken off unless you put that coupon code at the end when you check out, so that is great news. Then I am gonna update you on Jolly July. Jolly July is an ornament extravaganza between Fat Quarter Shop and the Real Housewives of Cross Stitch and we are doing an ornament every day and so I'm gonna give you an update from last week on what
I was able to finish. We have this little Jolly July calendar that you can download and
this kinda helps me keep track of what I've been stitching. This is July 9th. The pattern is called
Merry Christmas pillow and on this one, I'm at
two and a half hours. Here is the pattern. So you can see I've changed
up the design a little bit for my own colors. That is my first Jolly July. My second one is very similar because it's the same designer. It is Little House Needleworks and they use the same exact font. When I made it, it was kinda fun because I made the same thing twice. This one was July 10th
Little House Needleworks and the pattern is just
called Merry Christmas and I have spent one hour on it and I kept the colors, I'm gonna keep the colors
pretty close on this one. My next one, I didn't get very much done. This is July 11th. It's called Frosty Flakes and it is by Little House Needleworks and you can see, I just got his
head done so that's an hour. He will look much better when he is done. The poor little, it's like
he's a melting Frosty. Then this is one of my favorites. This is Merry Merry by
Country Cottage Needleworks. This is July 12th and
it took me eight hours and we are showing on this Friday, how you can turn an ornament
into this if you're interested. Here's the front. - [Lily] I think that was last Friday. - [Kimberly] Oh, sorry,
this is last Friday. Lily's got it together. So if you want to see how we did this, you can go to last Friday's video and see and we just used a little wooden plaque from Hobby Lobby or a little wooden square and we painted it with
Picket Fence by Lori Holt. This is my next one. This one has a really funny story. I don't know if I wanna admit it yet but this is Merry Christmas. It's a merrymaking mini by Heart in Hand. It is July 13th and this
took me seven hours. So here's the pattern and I'm gonna show, Lily's gonna zoom it in and
we're gonna try to find, okay, this has a mistake in it. She's gonna zoom in on the pattern and we're gonna try to see
if y'all can find my mistake. This is this week's and so on Friday, I will show you how you can
turn your ornament into this. I missed some stitches right here, I missed four stitches of blue right here and I noticed it when we filmed the video and I was like, oh, do you
think we can take this apart and the beauty of hot
glue gun is you cannot. It was already done. I mean, nobody will know
but yeah, that is that one. (Lily chuckles)
It's pretty funny. The next one I'm working on is 25th Jingle on Christmas Cheer. I've spent about an hour on it. Let's see, yeah. I've got the tree done and the star and I'm obviously not
making the tree white, I'm making it green and I'm gonna keep the
other colors kind of true. I love how that red really pops and I love the variegation in it. So that was the next day and you can see when I first started out, I was finishing everything and now I'm not but that's okay. This one is Christmas Cheer
by Country Cottage Needleworks and on this one, we're
gonna do three elves and we're either gonna do a
red elf and two green elves or we might do green, red, aqua. I'm not sure. He's looking pretty cute. I'm a little nervous about French knots. This is the next one, and all these I spent about an hour on, this is July 16th and
this is Christmas Cookies by Country Cottage Needleworks. So we're gonna do the bowls blue and white and pink and white
instead of red and green, so the top will be red. We're just gonna make it
a little bit different. I've been trying to keep the
brown kind of limited in this. That is our Jolly July update. Then I was gonna show you that I'm super excited
because in my stitchy journal or the cross stitch
journal, I'm all caught up. I've done a lot so now
I've gotta get another book and then what's gonna be sad is, okay, the ones that have
the numbers over here, those are done. I'm gonna have to keep
the journals with me until I get all this done. That's gonna give me incentive
to try to get all this done so I don't have to carry
the second journal with me. That's really fun. It makes me feel very accomplished and so today, I wanted
to show you a little bit about eat, sleep, stitch and this is Lori Holt's brand new pattern. It is about a five-hour pattern, that's what I estimate it will take. This is her version. She stitched this on 10 count Daisy, which is now in stock at Fat Quarter Shop. That is that version but I thought it would
be really fun to show you how you can make cross stitch your own. That's something that
I'm always talking about with quilting and cross stitch is really turning something into your own and not feeling like
you have to do exactly what somebody else does. That's one thing that
Lori actually taught me. She used to tell me,
"Why do you wanna quilt as exactly like somebody
else's, that's not original. What's gonna happen when you die?" She said something like
that to me one time and I'm like, oh, that's so true. It's taken me a long time to
really learn how to do this. What I did was I just had some fun. I decided to use the pink
and the navy that I have in this Love My Stitching bag
because I like those colors. I used a different gray. - [Man] Touch of Grey. - I used Touch of Grey Wichelt and what I did was I literally
just went to our DMC rack and I did a floss toss. What a floss toss is,
is just finding like, I'm gonna show you in a little bit but 10 colors and just put them
down and see how they look. This has taken me about two
hours, which is not long at all and then I'm very forgetful so the one thing that I'm doing is I'm keeping this picture on my phone and that tells me the order, let's see, tells me the order to go in because I know I'm gonna
forget what I decided. I also put it in order in
my cross stitch journal in case I didn't have my phone so I would remember what I decided. This is my version. Again, it is Touch of Grey Wichelt. I'm using 169 for my
needle, 3705 for the red, 3766 for the aqua, 3716 for the pink and 336 for the navy. One thing that was great for my journal was I had used all, I still have the pink so I knew the pink number but all the navy I used when I made this so I thought, well, I
don't know what I used. I went to my cross stitch journal and that made it super easy because then I had a
record of what I had done. I didn't have to go back to a video and look at the links or
a spreadsheet or anything and it gave me a good starting point. I didn't really have to do any rework so it's really nice having that journal, which is what we meant for it to do. That's what we meant for it to do but it actually working
in real life is awesome. I have asked some of my employees to come up with some fun things because I want to inspire
you to think outside the box. So we have lots of
options here to show you how you can really make this your own. You don't have to do it with this pattern, you don't have to do it today. It's a fun way to step outside the box and make something your
own and when we do that, I feel like it really
makes it more your own and you feel more accomplished. I have to say, this is my favorite. This, Cheryl made, so I'm going
to have to hold it really, 'cause it's gonna slip. Sorry, I knew that was gonna happen. So I wanted her to make a tiny one because I knew that she could do it. She used Lugana 25 count white. It came in this package, sorry, she cut a piece off
so you get a bigger piece. You can make a lot of 'em with this and it's kind of an ombre look. Cheryl loves red and blue, so a lot of things, if we ever have something
that needs to be made that's one of those colors,
she will always do it. The color she used are
932, 931, 930 and 3750 and then she just used a gray. Now this is 25 count Lugana
and she stitched over one and she used one thread and
it is the cutest thing ever. At the end of this little, I'm gonna tell you what
we're gonna be doing with this pattern, which
is gonna be awesome. That's the first one. The second one, we
thought this is the floss that comes with the pattern. This is the pattern and
so we just took the floss that's in the existing pattern and we're showing you how this would look on a different Wichelt. This is ivory and so you
can see the difference, how it makes it pop, white versus ivory just to give you a little
bit different options so that you don't have to use white. We're gonna be stitching most of these up so you can see them. This would be an example of if you wanted to use chalkboard black. Now, if you are in our Chalk Full club, you're gonna have
chalkboard black leftover. This would be a great opportunity to use what you already have, not have to spend any
money except on the pattern and you could do different whites. You could do 3865, which comes
out more cream on the black, B 5200, which is the brightest
white that DMC has or blanc. This would be a fun way to
just go to Joann's or Michaels and have your pattern and have your fabric and just do a little floss toss. Then you can look at it and say, okay, that looks really
bright, this is too cream. Okay, how does that look? Oh, I don't know. You can kinda just decide
what you want to do. This one is also something really awesome. This is Shelby's, Shelby is gonna be doing this one. This is Wichelt navy and
she's gonna do the needle in color four and then she's
gonna alternate the words in 415 and 762. I'm gonna show you this
finished next week. This is one of the ones
we're gonna finish. Then this is Denise's. It's beautiful and so
this is (indistinct). She hasn't decided what order she's gonna put everything in yet. She did a big floss top. She had like 10 and then she kinda picked and chose, you could throw 10 on there and then you just look
and see, what do you like? Doing the words, you
might not want the pink and the purple together. You might need something to break it up. It's just a fun way to... Then if you lay it out and
you like the way it is, take a photo with your
phone or write it down in your journal in the order
so that when you're stitching, you don't have to rethink
and redo your work already. Then this one's pretty fun. This is just, if you are
somebody who likes brights or you like to dress in tie dye or you just really like fun stuff. This color is Riviera Aqua and we thought this would look really cool just with one thread. It might look good with just white thread, it might look good with
168 or 415 or 5200. It's just a fun way,
you could do a two-tone. I think this would look
awesome just like this. It would be a fun way
to spend a stitchy day by just getting your pattern,
getting the fabric you like. Now, one of the things
we are gonna be doing is our new club, is our Wichelt club which is kind of what we just showed you. It is going to be starting on the 26th and our first month is Lamb's Wool. You can pick either ADA or linen and Lamb's Wool's my favorite color so that's why we put it first. Then our second color is white chocolate and one thing we're gonna be doing throughout the year is,
I'm a member of the club and I'm going to be using these. Next time I have a pattern to do, I'm gonna pick from my stash so that I don't have to buy anything else. Since I'm in the club, I'm gonna use them throughout the year so you can
see ways to use what you buy so that you don't feel
like, oh, I'm buying stuff and it's just sitting on the shelf because I don't like
things to sit on the shelf. I always like to use them. We're gonna have a lot of fun
and with things like this, we're gonna already have the cloth so that when you go to the store and you wanna do a floss
toss, you've already got it. I really like it, I think it's cute. I love that it's a quick short project and so now I'm gonna tell you
what we're gonna do with it. On next week's Flosstube, we are gonna have a lot of these done. We're gonna stitch up tons of these and we're gonna come back and just show you what they look like because I'm going on vacation and so I don't have time
to do a ton of stuff. I'm going on vacation with all my kids so I don't wanna be
stitching the whole time. I'm gonna show you mine finished and we're gonna show a lot
of the others finished. We'll give you the details
in case you like one of them and the week after on the live
stream, I am so stressed out, we are gonna do a bag on live stream. We have designed a wonderfully cute bag. I'm not gonna show it to you but it is going to have
some fabric around the edge, I can tell you that. The back is going to be fabric, it's gonna be a pieced block so that block, it will be a free pattern. This is not a free pattern but we are gonna give you a free pattern on how to make a zippered
bag with a zipper on the top. It's going to be more of a bag that you can put your floss
in, it's not a project bag. It's something more that
I could put inside here, which is why I wanted these to be similar. I didn't want the gray to be
exact just for some reason. I just want it to be a
little bit different, so it's gonna be a bag that
I can put within this bag. Again, next week we're gonna
show you all of our finishes. The week after, during the live stream, I'm gonna show you how
you turn it into a bag and we're gonna have one bag done so you can see what it looks like. Since it's only an hour livestream, obviously I can't do every single step so I will have some stuff pre done. I'm not perfect at bag so you're
gonna see a lot of mistakes which will actually be
quite funny for you guys and quite stressful for me. I'm a little bit nervous about that. I have loved Jolly July
and seeing all of the stuff that you guys are making. So inspiring and so thankful that people are doing stuff with me. It feels like you're hanging out with me, so I love that. Remember our cross stitch pattern sale. I didn't say this but it's a week. It goes until next
Tuesday night, probably. 20% off, you just have to put
in the coupon code, stitch 20 and then I'm gonna show you... Actually, I think I'm
gonna answer questions and then I'll show you
'cause I still have more. I have a ton of stuff. - [Lily] Real quick
for the coupon code is, capital letters and uncapitalized matter when you're (indistinct).
- I don't know. I don't think so.
- I don't think it does. - I don't think it does. - [Lily] Okay, and then actually... (Kimberly shrieks)
Oh, did you spill it? Oh, no? Oh, okay that's funny. I thought you spilled your tea, sorry. - No, I hope I didn't. - [Lily] No, you're good. It does look like it from
the small screen over here. So every (indistinct), I
hand pick a favorite comment. This week, I actually just
wanted to send a little love to Lillian Roth. She said, "Thanks for having a video. It's keeping my mind off losing
our family dog yesterday. I need a distraction even if
it's only for a few minutes where I'm not crying." Sending love your way, Lillian. We know it's tough to lose a fur baby. - I know, so sad. I have to take my doggy
to the place tonight and I won't see my doggy for a week. - [Lily] Okay, and then
Alison Sami was asking, "Is your fabric light teal, the ones that you're doing
all the Jolly July on?" - The fabric that I'm using
is Graceful Gray 14 count and what I did is I
basically just took my ADA, cut it into fours and
then I just ironed it. Some of them, the pieces were big enough where I was able to get
two ornaments on one and some, I was only
able to get one ornament but it was easiest for me to
buy all the packages I need, cut them into quarters
so I had four pieces, iron them and then stick 'em in a bag and then when I'm ready
to go, I just pull it out. I've got all my floss. The one thing that I have
really liked about Jolly July is that, like with Mania, I felt like I had to spend a lot of money because it was like a
pattern, a fabric, a thread and then the next one would
be totally different fabric, totally different pattern,
totally different thread. With Jolly July, I'm using
the same thread throughout, the same fabric throughout. I mean, obviously I
need different patterns but it's very helpful to just have it where you don't have
to get a whole new bag, you just have one bag instead of 30. I've really liked that and
it just made it a lot easier. - [Lily] Teresa Woodrow says, "I love the cross stitch project journal. Any plans to come out with
something similar for quilting?" - Yeah, it's already at the printer. Yes.
- Okay. Denise Henkel says, "What
is the fabric you were using on the first Jolly July
projects you showed? It looks Aqua." I wasn't sure if she meant
the cross stitch fabric or the finishing of the cotton fabric. The very first one that you showed. - Okay, hold on a second. - [Lily] Okay. - I don't wanna make a big mess and we have these design boards so that we can be a
little bit more organized. We had a comment that I was not organized so now I'm organized. I've got two, both of these are aqua. This one, this fabric is,
I can actually remember it, I believe this is Kisses by Riley Blake and this ADA is Graceful Gray and this Aqua is Kisses by Riley Blake. This fabric is an aqua in B basics and I believe this gingham
is from Farm Girl Vintage. The fun thing about that
also with Jolly July is I had my fabric and my floss and I literally just went
to where all our fabric is in the building and just kinda, we have little bins
that are leftover pieces and we just picked a bunch
that were in that color family. I picked a couple of
pinks, a couple aquas, a couple of greens, couple of whites and so when we go to finish,
we've already got stuff and we had to only go out
there once instead of 30 times. I really liked the idea of
the sew alongs being more, I guess, for me more
consistent, less thinking because then there's not a lot of change in between the product, in
between the different things we're doing and then it's
more productive, I guess. - [Lily] Okay, Laura Spadafora says, "Do beads instead of French
knots," as her suggestion. - Oh yes, yeah. Shelby who works here, she
does all of our photography for social media. She is the French knot queen and I have never seen
French knots as good. She's like my person, I just
take my stuff down there and I'm like, "Shelby,
can I have a French knot?" I'm gonna have 'em call
'em Shelby French knots. - [Lily] Shelby french knots. Shelby knots. Marsha (indistinct) says, "I will be traveling to
the beach next month. Kimberly, do you have any
tips for stitching in the car? I tried it once before and
was not very successful." - Oh my gosh, I do it all the time. I don't get motion sickness. I just have my bags, that's
the thing I have, the bags. I just take my bags and I just pull it out and I just stitch in hand and I just go. We're gonna go on vacation
so I've got two flights and I will just take all my
bags and just stitch it up. I just make sure I have everything. I would say, kit it up meaning all the stuff I need
in one bag for each thing and I'll kinda think about,
like for my vacation, I'm gonna think about, okay, how much time am
I gonna really stitch? I really just take what
I think I'm gonna finish so that I don't take too much
and take up too much space but I don't know. In the car, sometimes I'll
take a pillow, not this pillow but I have a lot of. There's a pattern we did years
ago called Pack and Play, years ago. I mean, it's like probably eight years old and I have literally 20
of those in the house. All the kids have a bunch, they're just everywhere in the house. They're on my bed, I use 'em to sleep in and so when I'm going to the
car, I'll grab one of those and put it under me so that
I have a little bit of a lap and when I fly tomorrow,
I will have one of those. I just kind of, in the car, make sure I have something to put
my, I guess my hands on. I don't know how you would say it and then I just do this. One thing that I do do that helps and I learned this from Priscilla is if I'm gonna go on a big trip and I've got a area to stitch in, I do this thing where I do all the white and then I outline the
blue and then I fill in but I'm gonna tell you what
happens when you do that is you miss some stitches. That's how I missed those stitches. Also, I'm gonna be honest. I made this when I was in
Branson at a dance convention so I probably was in. I literally finished this in
the middle of some random dance and probably couldn't see in the room but yeah, nobody knows
except everybody now. - [Lily] That's funny. Gigi Odom says, "I'm
using Classic Colorworks for the first time. I am doing individual
Xs but don't really see any variegation with the 12-Grain color. Am I doing something wrong?" - 12-Grain is a lighter variegation so it just depends what skein you get but if you do a whole project in it, you will definitely see it. But 12-Grain, just because it's light, I think it will be a lighter variegation but I don't think you're
doing anything wrong. It does take a while to get used to and you'll see in some of our,
like let me show you this. Give me two seconds. Yeah, okay. So for example, if you look at these two, I'm using the same red,
which is cherry tomato and you can not really see a
variegation in the Dear Santa but then in his hat, you really see a variegation
and I use the same technique. Let me see if I can... In person, you can see
a real variegation here and here, you can't see one at all. So I honestly think it
depends on what skein you get, what you pull off, what the
design is, that kinda thing. Between pieces, it's gonna look different. It has a lot to do with the design also and I think that's okay. - [Lily] All right. Nancy's Needlework wanted to clarify, "Is it 20% off each pattern
I buy or just one pattern with the coupon?"
- All of them. - [Lily] All of them. - Not quilting patterns,
only cross stitch patterns. - [Lily] Well, we had several people including Donna Cook saying
they love your shirt. - Oh, thanks, it's new. Yay, okay so I'm gonna
show you now chalk full 'cause I'm super excited. This is Priscilla Blaine's
design, I wanna give her credit. Oh before I do that,
I wanna show you this. This is a teaser. My last week of Jolly July is going to be these little mini sleds and Denise was nice
enough to spray paint it and then what she did is
unscrewed this piece, took it off and painted it with Picket
Fence from Lori Holt because that way it would
just be a little bit darker. So we're getting all of these
sleds ready for week five. Okay, here is all of our chalk
full and I'm gonna show you, I haven't made any progress on mine but I'm gonna take it on vacation with me. First up, we have Cheryl's piece. Cheryl pieced her Harvest
chalk full by Priscilla Blaine and Kathy Habermann on
32 count Dark Cobblestone and that would be similar
to Venetian stone. Venetian stone is a little bit darker but that's just to show you that you can do this on any cloth. She used the floss,
(indistinct) in the pattern and this is the pattern. This is the first in a series. We have a club for this. There will be six or seven
(indistinct) every other month and this is the first one. We have a few spots left, not many. This next one is by Denise. She bought the club from us
and this is her progress. She's almost done. That's gonna entice me to
get my little self in gear and finish. The effect of the harvest
jar is you use one strand instead of two and that makes
it, I guess, a little subdued. That is Denise's and this one is Terry's. Terry works in customer service and we just saw this this
morning, it's awesome. It's not done. She used 28 count Venetian stone. For the jar, instead of using
the aqua, she used ribbon red and the other colors used and ribbon red is Classic Colorworks and then the rest of her colors
that she used is our DMC, the (indistinct) for DMC in the pattern and on the red she did
use one strand also. It's beautiful and so she's
just gotta fill in a little bit. That is Priscilla's. Cheryl has another finished called Summer. - [Lily] Let me focus on that. - The pattern is called Summer Whirlygo... Sorry, Summer Whirligig by Heart in Hand. Super cute and so she stitched this on Belfast 32 count. The skew number is 360953. I think this is platinum. They don't label it exact. Those are some of our finishes and now we have some new
stuff I wanna show you and I have a surprise at the end. Y'all might not like it but it made my day and I'm so excited. So Monaco is the cloth that
Priscilla and Chelsea use and they can tea dye
it, they just slap it on and there's a video on
how they slap it together. - [Lily] On their channel. - On their channel and their channel is The Real
Housewives of Cross Stitch. If you just Google, and we can
put a link below in the video but if you just Google
tea dye fabric, Monaco, The Real Housewives of Cross
Stitch, it will pull up and they use Monaco. Monaco has not really been
able to be found very much in Joann's and you used to
be able to buy it by the bolt and so DMC is no longer
making it by the bolt. So we just place some orders
with DMC to get what we could and this came in, it's new. Last time we got in one of the colors, it sold out right away. This is evenweave 28, two different sizes. One is larger, 20 by 24 and
one a smaller, 15 by 18. We have those, I don't think
they're gonna last long but they're white this time. This is big, exciting news. We have all of this. This is Lori's 10 count. It has been on order forever
and I'm so happy to have it and we have a ton of it. So if you have been waiting on it, I want you to get it
now before it runs out but I'm gonna show you all the colors. This is oatmeal and we used
oatmeal in our Pumpkin kit, a couple other kits. This is Daisy and this is
what eat, sleep stitch is on and so it's a pure white. If you just type vintage cloth, these will all come up on our site. This one is burlap and
so burlap is darker. I wanna show you next to each other. This one's oatmeal and this one's burlap. We have her 25 count Lugana, which Cheryl has used
on a couple of things and so this, you would stitch
either over two or over one. Those are what she had originally but now we have the new colors. This is actually oatmeal
again so ignore that, this is an existing color. This one is buttermilk and we
have a lot planned with this. This is heritage and heritage
is what we stitched this on. So if you have Lori's stitch
cards, this is heritage. It looks a little bit
different, slightly different but this is what we used. If you're making her stitch cards and you wanna try a different
color, there's that. Then we are so excited because
we started this in February when the cloth sold out. Denise made this beautiful piece. It's called Red, White and Blue. Priscilla and Chelsea finished it. We used a Lori Holt gingham. Priscilla made the bow. This is a frame from Hobby Lobby. It says 15 by 17.9 so this
is just a generic frame that we got. There's actually a hole
for a frame but we put, Priscilla and Chelsea put this
on top and we have the kit. So in the kit, you will get Ora floss, the pattern and the cloth
and this uses oatmeal. It's beautiful and I'm so sorry that it
didn't come in before July 4th but there is still time. - [Lily] It's just early for next year. - Yeah, it's just early for next year. So we've planned so far
ahead that we are on our game but I'm really excited. Then we were able to cut some of the kits we were sold out of like Be
Thankful and then The Pumpkin because those were all on her cloth. I'm super excited to be
able to work with it again because I had been missing it. We also have some new patterns which is great timing since
we have the stitch 20 coupon. We put together, Glitter Village
is a series that came out in 2019, this year with
Country Cottage Needleworks and there are nine villages
so I'm gonna go through them and now we are selling a set of them. Now that we have this coupon, we're gonna probably have to make more. This is the first one and you could do these either individually or on the Country
Cottage Needleworks site. She has a free download
where she shows you how she would put it together. It's very similar to Hometown Christmas when Little House Needleworks
had that series come out, they show you how you can
either do it individually or all together. What I love about this
is you don't have to feel like you have to make all of
them, you can pick and choose. Our next one is St.
Patrick's Day, Heart in Hand. It's another bird. Plum Street Samplers
has a couple new ones. They have Merry two, Merry one. This one was asked for
on our last live stream. It's Erica Michaels' Scary Berry, so we got that for our customer. Home Sweet Home by
Little House Needleworks, the Apple Orchard by
Little House Needleworks and this one I want to
add to my Jolly July, it is Peppermint Twist by
Little House Needleworks. There is like a little
button that we're gonna order from just another button
company so that we have that. We also got Christmas Favorites
by the Prairie Schooler and so I believe this
was a customer request. Sue Hillis, we got her Needlework Trees and that has a couple patterns within it. Then the last thing that we got new is when Priscilla and Chelsea were here, she used these needles. It took us a while to find them. Sullivans make some ball-tip needles. We're not sure if these
were the exact ones that Chelsea had. We're gonna send her a set and then have her test them to see but this is the type
of needle that she uses and so we've got size
24, size 26 and size 28. In each package, you get two. I'm gonna try these out and see. I actually love the needles I use so I'm not sure I'm going to change. Now, today I have something and I have kept it from Lily on purpose 'cause she gonna freak out. I came to my office the other day and we get a ton of packages here, a ton and so if something comes
and says, Kimberly Jolly, they just open it because
it's probably a pattern order or some needles or some patterns or some fabric or something. This came and I came to my
desk and it was on my desk and I thought, what, I
don't expect anything. Oh my gosh, Judy Daniels from Georgia, I hope she doesn't mind I told her name. She wrote me a little note
and almost made me cry and then I was like,
what is it, I don't know and I was like, what is it? I was scared of opening 'cause I'm like, I have no idea what that is. Oh my gosh, Lily's about to freak out. - [Lily] I'm excited. I'm nervous, I have not seen this-- - No, I told her she couldn't know. - [Lily] Oh my God! - It's Piggy! - [Lily] Oh my God. - It's Piggy. Oh my God, it's so cute.
- Oh my God. - I screamed in my office
and they were like, why are you screaming? Look how big it is. - [Lily] It's a big Piggy-- - I know, it's a baby and
it looks just like him and so what it is, we figured out, you can see all the mess on my floor but the back, it's a towel. - [Lily] Oh. - This is awesome, Judy because
Kevin does not like Piggy but Piggy sleeps in the bed every night and we have our own little
blanket so that Piggy doesn't get hair all over everything. So instead of that, he's
gonna sleep on this now and then Ken's gonna love it. He's gonna be so pissed off. Isn't it the cutest? I wanted to show it today
because I wanna take it home. Oh my gosh, it's so cute. It's so big, too. - [Lily] Confetti canon for Judy Daniels who is in our chat right now. - Oh my gosh, I love it.
- Thank you, Judy. - Look at it, it's like
cut out by his ear. - [Lily] This is amazing, Judy. - I know. She said in her note that
she walked by the store for three weeks and
finally decided to buy. I've never seen it and I look
at pug stuff all the time. Oh my gosh, it's so cute. I haven't told my kids, so my plan, I'm not gonna do it tonight
because Piggy has to go to the place that he goes to
stay while I'm out of town. He stays at a guy's house
and the guy really likes him so he's in good hands but what I'm gonna do when he comes back is I have this cover and on top of it, I'm just gonna put the blanket and then I'm gonna let them
walk in and be like, what, like surprise them 'cause
they're all gonna love it, even Peyton. Peyton doesn't even like the
dog and Peyton will love that. They're gonna fight over
it, it's gonna be amazing and I'm so excited. I was like, what is this? I was like, oh, somebody
sent me some patterns 'cause some people will
send me stuff to review. I was so excited, I was screaming and then what me and Denise did is we wrapped it up real fast and we put it back in and
then we walked down the office and we found Kevin and we
were like, "Kevin, open this." He opened it and he looked
at the note and he's like, "What is this, did somebody
send you something?" I was like, "Yeah," and
he was like, "What is it?" I was like, "Oh my God,
you're gonna love it." He opened it and he was like, "Oh my God." He liked it, he was like, "It's a towel, the kids
are gonna go nuts," and I was like, "Don't tell 'em." Anyway, so excited. She made my day. Oh, and then before I forget, we're gonna answer questions
but I'm gonna give away a Kimberly Stitch Squad Yeti today but I'm not gonna tell you
until right when we're done. Lily's gonna remind me.
- Yes. - What you have to do, because we don't want you to enter now because you have to wait until
the video's over to enter. - [Lily] Yes, and you have
to comment on YouTube. - Not on this. That's why I'm not gonna
tell you until the very end. So Lily, you tell me what else. I talked a lot today and next week I'm not gonna have as much because obviously I'm going out of town. - [Lily] Okay, from Deb (indistinct), she says, "Q-snap or stitch in hand, which one do you use the most and why?" - I used to do Q-snap all the time and now I do stitch in hand. With Lori's 10 count, I will use a Q-snap. That fabric is not thick
enough for me to do in hand so I would say a mix of both. If it's really small and it's
on ADA and it's 14 count, I can stitch in hand. All my ornaments, I stitch in hand but I'm gonna be right back
working on Lori's stuff and I will use the Q-snap and I do that because Lori's, there's fewer holes so
it's a little bit looser so it's not gonna have that firmness that I can crunch over
my fabric and stitch. - [Lily] Sherry Smart
says, "What metallic thread is being used in the
Glitter House series?" - Okay, I'm gonna look
but also gonna tell you that Priscilla used Tea and Biscuits instead of metallic threads. That's what Priscilla did if
you don't wanna use metallic. Do you really wanna know? Au Ver à Soie metallic braid. Okay, A-U V-E-R A S-O-I-E metallic braid. So Au Ver à Soie metallic
braid, light gold 030. If you want a DMC alternative,
it says metallic gold 0738. Priscilla used Tea and Biscuits
because I wanna make this and so I asked her what she did. This information should
be on our website also. - [Lily] Donna Cook wants to know how much fabric is in
a package of 14 counts. - It's about a fat quarter. Most of the pre-packaged
is about a fat quarter. All of the pre-packaged that
we have made from Wichelt cause some of it we have custom made 'cause they don't package it,
they'll package it for us. It's 18 by 20 or 18 by 25, some-- - [Lily] 18 by 27. - 18 by 27. Obviously it's cross stitch fabric so the width of fabric
is a little bit wider than quilting fabric. The fat quarter's slightly
different, slightly larger and then Lori's is coming
in at 17 inches square. - [Lily] Sorry, (indistinct). Priscilla and Chelsea
said, "Woohoo Monaco," and then put three hearts
when you were showing Monaco. - Yeah, I haven't even told them. I need to mail you some. I haven't even told them that it came. It literally came like two days ago. Yeah, what we did is we
contacted DMC and just said, give us every skew of Monaco. We just put in these orders and then they just ship whatever. We ordered way more of what came but we will take whatever they send. So you can slap on some tea to that. (indistinct) That's our joke. I'm trying to drink out of the empty-- - [Lily] Oh, no, we're
giving that one away. - I'm not gonna touch it. - [Lily] Karen E. Says,
"Thinking to try the 10 count for the first time. When you use six strands of floss, do you separate them and
put them back together before you stitch or do you
use directly from the skein?" - I use directly from the skein. You are supposed to pull it
apart and put it back together. That is what you're supposed to do. I do not do that. - [Lily] Okay. - I'm too lazy. I don't wanna say lazy
but it doesn't matter. - [Lily] Then Liz Hansel Meyer says, "If customers request patterns, can I request (indistinct) thread color? I need beige (indistinct)
and it's a great neutral." - I don't know if we're
carrying that thread. Let me look into it. If we carry a thread line, we try to carry all of
it rather than pieces but we can look at it after
this and then make a decision on what we think we might be able to. - [Lily] Okay, then Diana
on YouTube was asking, "The coupon for the pattern
can only be used one time. I already used it and I was
trying to put another order but it doesn't work, help." I think it's a one time thing. - It's a one time only coupon so you can use it on as
many patterns as you want on one order.
- Okay. Linda Gillespie said, "Hobby Lobby has a cross
stitch Piggy pattern." - Oh, okay. Several people have told
me that and that's awesome, I haven't been there to see it but I subscribe to a couple
of cross stitch magazines and a couple years ago,
one of them came out or maybe it was this year,
came out with the Piggy and it's awesome. It's Piggy, it's pink. So I'm gonna make it, I bought, I'm gonna make it and it's
Piggy and it looks like him but I'm gonna change it to blue. I mean, I don't know where I'm gonna do it but I have that already and
it's in my stack of stuff. It's cute though but I wish
I could remember the name of the cross stitch magazine. I believe it's the one
that's based in the UK. It's cute. - [Lily] Yeah, very
good comments coming in. Several people including
Denise Henry said, "Where are you going on vacation, somewhere fun for the kids?" - We're going to Cancun. The kids, we asked them
what they wanted to do and their options were
they wanted to go somewhere that had a beach, a pool
and roller coasters. That was at the beginning of the summer and then we took them to Fiesta, Texas which we have never been. It's in San Antonio,
I've never been there. It's been there since I was
a kid, I've never been there and they roller coastered themselves out and after that trip, they were like, "We don't need any roller..." They were so done with
roller coasters after that. So we're just gonna go and
we're gonna try to go... We're staying at an all-inclusive cause we've never done that and some people recommended
that it might be good 'cause obviously with four
kids, they eat like crazy so it'll be cheaper. We were able to use
points, which is great. This vacation, I'll tell a funny story. I shouldn't tell it, it's really bad. We don't plan things. Kevin and I are not good planners. Now in the business, yes. In personal, no. Kevin booked this trip last Tuesday maybe, maybe last Monday then we realized the kids'
passports were expired. So we spent last Friday getting
our passports expedited. They're supposed to arrive at 9:30 tonight at the Greyhound bus station and I'm hoping that they arrive so that we can get on
the plane in the morning but that's how much we've planned. Yeah, Lily, that's why I was
in a bad mood last Friday. We're gonna hope they show
up, I'm sure they will. We don't really plan. We just go and then
whatever they wanna do, we kinda just play it by ear. It's really hard. We used to be planners and now we have four kids and they all wanna do something different and they wanna do what they see. They don't wanna do what
mom and dad tell them so we're just gonna play it by ear. I know Will wants to go
see some Mayan ruins, they wanna parasail, they love to parasail so we will see what we do but we pretty much just play it by ear. - [Lily] Okay. Linda Gillespie said, "Au
Ver à Soie means silkworm." I thought that was interesting. - Yeah, we might buy that
thread since it's used in that 'cause we did buy the
Belfast that was used in this 'cause we got some requests. We bought the Zweigart 32
count roll silver linen because it was used in this. So we can go ahead and
buy the metallic threads so that if you wanna use it. I don't have any experience
with metallic thread. I know that it can be difficult so at some point, I'll have to use it so that I can try to figure out. People say it's difficult, so maybe after Jolly July's done. - [Lily] All right,
Catherine Macmillan says, "Do you ship to the UK? If so, do you take PayPal payments?" - Yes and yes. - [Lily] Liz Hansel Meyer says, and this might be more of a question for Priscilla and Chelsea. She says, "Does the acid in the tea affect the fabric over time?" - Priscilla and Chelsea will answer you. I could probably guess their answer. Their answer is probably
something funny like, "It'll last as long as I'm alive." You know what I mean? I think that's probably
what they would say. I don't think they know. I mean, I don't know. I don't think they would do it if they thought it would ruin it. It does smell like tea and coffee though. - [Lily] Oh, good. Lily Garcia says, "Are
you coming to Cancun?" I guess Lily lives there. - Yeah, isn't that your name? It's close to your name. No, yours is Reese. Yeah, no I am. I don't even know where I'm staying. I'm staying at Playas... Literally about six o'clock... So what I have to do before I go to town, is I had some shoes and they broke so I've gotta get some tennis shoes 'cause my tennis shoes, the soul broke. I've gotta get my nails done and then probably nine o'clock tonight, we will probably download the
boarding passes, the hotel. I mean, we're pretty... If you're OCD, you don't
wanna travel with us because that's the way Kevin
travels and I just go with it. - [Lily] Okay. Lisa Lang Steiner says, "Are you and Kevin the
owners of Fat Quarter Shop?" - Yes.
- Michelle Moore was asking, "Kimberly, have you been to, hang on, the Dogologie store in
Fredericksburg, Texas, all dog stuff?" - Oh, no I haven't. We did go to a store in
Branson that was a dog store but it was more of a dog treat store so we couldn't, I'm not gonna take treats and plus, P doesn't even eat. If you give him a meat
bone, he won't eat 'em. He's very picky about what he eats. He will only eat wet food. He will not eat dog food and then what he does, it's super cute. When I feed him the wet
food, I put it in his bowl and then throw the
little plastic piece away but when my boys feed him, they just take the lid
off and put it out there. How I know he's hungry
is he goes out there and he goes either to his metal bowl and tries to pick it up out of the wood or he picks up his little plastic bowl and he goes in circles and then I know that I
need to feed him more. He's very smart. - [Lily] All right. Lily Garcia also said,
Yes, she lives in Cancun. It is hot there. Be aware, lots of sunscreen. - Yes, oh, it's hot here. It's really been a nice summer in Texas. It has been very mild here. - [Lily] Pamela Larson says, "The Glitter House
patterns are already gone. Will you be getting more?" - Yes, right after this,
we're gonna be right on it. - [Lily] Okay. Gigi Odom says, "What
can be used besides tea to dye a fabric?" - They use coffee and they use tea and all that information
is in their video. I think they use instant tea. They use all of it and if you comment on any of their videos, they will reply or if you want
to join their Facebook group, it is Stitching With The Housewives and they will answer your questions. If you want to join my Facebook group, it is Kimberly Stitch Squad. - [Lily] Sharon Bergemeyer says, "I love how you frame all
your cross stitch pieces. Are there pictures or
tutorials on your page or on Pinterest?" - So on our channel, you can
find some finishing videos that Priscilla Blaine and
Chelsea Carter did for us. On their videos, there are also some
that we filmed with them showing finishing. This right here is a frame that we sell. It is by Family Tree and
it is a square frame. It was painted by Lori and she just covered the back with fabric and then we just taped it
in, so lots of options. A lot of the things that I frame, I will get professionally framed also. I do kind of a mix of both. I used to just frame and now that Priscilla
is doing all her stuff, I'm kind of doing both. - [Lily] Also just to clarify because I saw this question
came in from Facebook. All those videos are on YouTube on either Fat Quarter Shop Flosstube or Real Housewives of
Cross Stitch on YouTube. - We would love for you
to become a subscriber. - [Lily] Yes, please subscribe. - Click the little bell so you get notified
when we have new videos. Oops. - [Lily] Olda Romero says, "I have some tapestry needles
that were given to me. However, I have no clue
what the sizes are. My question is, is there a
way to figure out the sizes?" - I have no idea. I would just see if they work. Try to thread 'em and see if they work. I don't know. There might be a way, maybe
somebody else could answer. I'm not sure. - [Lily] All right, we are
right at the top of the hour so I'm just gonna put out
one more comment out there that I thought was kinda cute. Deanna Melena (indistinct) says, "Little history. Since a few months ago,
my husband saw Piggy and has been begging for a pug. Now thanks to Kimberly, we have a 10..." She put weekend but she
might mean weeks old pug, "Named Titan." - Oh, okay. Is he a boy or girl? Boys pee everywhere, so
probably train that dog. My gosh, mine is not potty trained. Okay, I'm gonna give away a Yeti that says Kimberly Stitch Squad and we're gonna choose the winner. We'll announce the winner next week. So when Lily hits publish and this goes as an actual
video, not the live stream, on YouTube, you have to be a subscriber. Subscribe to our YouTube and we wanna know what's in your Yeti. So if you can just comment,
what's in your Yeti. - [Lily] Yes, you use
the #whatsinyouryeti. Wait about 10 minutes until right now to comment and it's on our YouTube video and not on Facebook, guys. - Yeah, thanks for joining me
and I'll see you next week. (lights buzz)
