hello and welcome to perrywinkle stitches this is my very first floss tube actually uh my name is Sean I live in Cardiff with my husband and I've got three grown-up girls now that unfortunately don't live at home anymore so I do have quite a lot of free time on my hands which I I suppose I fill with lots of crafty projects um mainly cross stitch but also embroidery always embroidery and um also quilting and sometimes knitting as well um I think I just tried to keep my life busy and now I'm kind of obsessed with it so I do have an awful lot of projects on the go and I thought it'd be really fun for me to share with you what I Stitch maybe on a monthly basis I've just ordered the um lovely B the big ass project from um um Colorado cross Stitcher Sherry and um she's called Charlotte barington something like that uh and it hasn't arrived yet in the UK and already where we pages and Pages behind because I think it was two pages a month um for that prodject project and it started in March so with the end of May looming um I don't know how we're we're never going to be able to catch up in the UK but that's swinging its way to me and I thought it would be nice to kind of show my progress on that on on floss tube and um I thought I'd start with um the projects I've been working on so far in the month of May so the weekend before last I went down to Cornwall and was lucky enough to get on the Stacy Nash Workshop which was just such a lot of fun it was so great to meet Stacy Nash uh I'm a massive fan of hers and the minute I met her mom I I had to tell her how much I love Stacy I've stitched quite a few of her projects over the years and um I took them down with me but it was nothing compared to what some of the girls had done um I think I've only done one animal cracker um the Snowman Whitaker and yet I was fortunate enough to meet Sally The Humble Bumble Stitcher I'm sure you all know and follow Sally on Instagram she is a prolific Stitcher has loads of projects and it was so lovely to meet her and her friend in person and all the other ladies I met um on my table they were just so enthusiastic and such a lot of fun and um the things that they took down of their Stacy Nash's finishes was just mindblowing um Sally had finished Maggie May in the most tiny tiny it was one over one on 46 count a little mini mini Maggie May she just sat in the palm of your hand and another in a really small count on on a lollipop stick she was they were just absolutely fabulous and all the animal crackers and there was a lady there Sarah Stonehouse who I've just started following and she had many of the animal crackers and the rabbit with his little carrots in a bag so it was hugely inspiring and I can't wait to stock up on more of the crackers actually and and get going on them but um when I was down in the workshop we had an exclusive design by Stacy Stacy Nash I wouldn't like to say that after a glass of wine um for the C slip studio and it was this project here which is called the strawberry Cottage sewing roll and inside there's a little red work pocket this is signed by Stacy how fabulous that happy stitching wonderful um so it's this beautiful linen um Stacy wasn't sure how many of the UK stitchers would have experience of working on the kind of um higher counts so she brought down in the kits I think it was either 28 or 32 in this lovely lovely linen by needle Bing this is heirloom on the model um I I much prefer working on 36 or 40 counts so I asked if I could switch M there wasn't any 36 but I managed to swap mine for um 40 counts uh needle bling shreky tan so it's not quite as perfect a color for the threads that we had in in the kit I'm sorry as well I don't iron my work um and I stitch in hand so it always rolls up a bit but this is the color linen that I managed to to get and you can see I've started on the pink border running down the side here um so it it does look a little bit different to the chart in that this fabric is is a beautiful light cream and I think the flowers show a little bit better but it's okay I really love it and um it's just a bit different so I've started putting in some of the little um rose hips uh they're not rose hips they're strawberries aren't they on the top here so overall a a gorgeous project and um I've got some of the the threads here and the needle that Sally Humble Bumble Stitcher so kindly gave out to us all the the pink in this is that gorgeous sanguin that often Blackbird designs have that Dusty Dusty Rose so pretty so I can't wait to get back to that um what I tend to do for my stitching is that I I do do whip go because I do have a lot of whips and I find that sometimes I would just never get them out if it wasn't for Whit go so um I get two projects and of course this month the number 13 was called so there were three projects called on wio and I'll share with you those in a moment and [Music] um I also then try to do 24 new starts in 24 and so far with my Stacy Nash start I'm up to 16 on that so I'm doing okay so the next whip that I did for um that was called for May was this project um in my Patchwork pull print bag by uh made by Val that she sells on Etsy I I make my own bags now but I always used to buy my project bags from V they're just lovely so this project is called um a Shepherd song and it's by Plum Street sorry for the glare it's very bright in here today so I absolutely love everything that polette does I was so lucky to meet her last year I wish I knew how to edit and I I could put a photo of me and pette in but I she's just such the sweetest lady and makes the most fabulous crossstitch charts so this one is based on Psalm 2 three the Lord is my shepherd I shall not want I she say she chose to call this design a Shepherd song because it's based on Psalm 23 written by King David who was a shepherd and a musician before he became the king of Israel so that's what it looks like I'm doing it on the call for fabric I'm doing it in 40 count it's Fox and rabbit hog bristle one over one and sometimes I make my thread drops here to match um sometimes they go great like this one and sometimes the glue makes them go weird and I use the same glue so I never know how how they're going to turn out but these are the gorgeous threads again these lovely pinks um rose petal and Tennessee red clay by classic color works so so pretty so those are the threads for this one and this is what it looks like this is my progress so far I should say so I started this two years ago on a hot summer's day at the Garden and I think I might have started on the house cuz I tend to start in the middle and um then just for fun I put the the DH in but this time I managed to do the two sheep here um this curly sheet and look at these crazy folky sheet and this sheet with the spots would you believe in green they're pale green so and I think they're stitched in Caper which is a dark green but against the house I don't know they they look okay um there's a lot of green filling grass I was sad to put it away because last summer on wico it took me all that time to stitch the the the flowers the pink flowers so you know it's going to take me a long long time to finish but I love stitching on Pet's designs and it's quite um a tight weave that 46 count but I absolutely love that project sorry for leaning in um over the camera so that that's that um project 40 count hog bristle love it next is one of my oldest projects um I do have 42 whips and this is right near the start this was started at least two years ago these are the threads this is my little fob gorgeous gorgeous colors look at that that's my perfect color yellow butternut squash they call it it's it's the most beautiful Prim Rose pale yellow so this project is by Erica Michaels and it's called a petite collection the silk Berry honey berry if you look it shows you on the back how small it is it's about 2 in it's weeny compared to the linen Berry and so so pretty but there are thousands of stitches in this it's taking me forever ever it doesn't show up on a white background very well um it's so delicate it's got in between the honeycomb it's got these stitches called roads stitches they're like Smo acrosses but a little bit more so they give this delicate it's very very pretty um and it says gather honey all the day so all I've got left now is the filling I mean it's one over one on 40 count silk GW it's like a mini CR um tapestry cushion you know that you do in the wools which I used to do years ago it's like a mini mini version of that but it's so beautiful I can't wait to finish it I think it's just going to be really sweet and it's has an effect like it's made of wool the background is um weeks grits uh one over one and it's all gentle Arts otherwise except this black which is just DMC so I'm really enjoying that there's just not enough hours in the day to you know get it all done but I'm relatively close I think maybe another year and that that if it comes out a wi go this is in my uh Nikki Franklin stitching bag this says always summer summer always and I've got a little uh beautiful little scissor pole that I order from Chapel View crafts which is up the road in the Ronda valleys here in Wales somewhere um I forgotten the lady's name but she does these beautiful little I think they're polymer clay every Christmas I do her Advent calendar this is a lemon cake and I've got lots of these dotted around my house and lots of my zipper PS I've got her pins the cakes look at that bat and bird cake and the little needle Min are just I mean totally adorable so that's that um I do keep my book of days to track um I don't use well I give myself a sticker if I finish something but I've got so many things on the go I don't get very many stickers I did so what I use it for really is to track my what's called on whip go and what my new starts because I keep a list of um the 24 projects that I want to start and they get called with the whip go num so it tells me what I what I'm going to start for my new starts if that makes sense so my 24 in 24 um attracted here so they were called so May's been overwhelming because the month of 13 was called so it meant three new starts and three whip go and my embroidery so it it's just boring on too much and I've got I was away at cowlip and I've also got Holiday from Sunday that I'm going on with two of my oldest girlfriends from school Claire and Karen and um we're going back to daia in coru in in the Greek Islands 40 years since we went as na teenagers when we were 17 when Frankie went Frankie Goes to Hollywood was what number one and we had the relax Frankie says cut off sweatshirt tops with our little Daisy duuke denim shorts we thought we were chocolate and um We're Going Back 40 years later for a little girly trip we're going in style this time so when we're not slumming it on you know on the strip in um on the High Street we're in a really really nice hotel one of the iOS Resorts all inclusive totally treating ourselves can't wait but it does take me away from my stitching which is making me slightly anxious I'm so weird right next project for wigo is something that I only started on wh go last year so it hasn't has a lot of love but I dearly love this project this is called Carolina Amia travel by my very very favorite designer Brenda jaave she doesn't like us in the UK she doesn't sell to us um but I have to have everything with th needle and thread pretty much I haven't bought the last three charts with the swan vs cuz the ship shipping costs more than the chart so I need to wait until there's six or so and then justify the shipping that way but this is such a beautiful chart and I start look at the Sheep you know living in Wales we're all about the sheep I love sheep anything to do with sheep so this is all call for um this is on here are the threads have I made it I have my little scissor fob it's not a scissor fob it's a ring pull or whatever a floss drop Bling Ring bling and these are the love I mean look at the Colors oh I can't wait to get back to this I haven't done anything on it yet but I this is what I will be doing um in the coming days in May this is on gorgeous linen very tight it's 40c count sarapin and te lace and I had Regina h at the same time um on the other half of this look at this linen it's abs absolutely to die for I shouldn't do that cuz I got makeup on today um so I had a weeny weenie start starting to get the the line in here I just can't wait to get back to it so when I come back from holiday this will be my focus for the last week in in May although I think my children are all home um my baby daughter I say baby she's 20 and she's 5'11 she's gorgeous she is studying Pharmacy up in in Manchester and she is sitting her exams today so I'm waiting for a phone call from her any moment within the next 10 minutes actually the exam finishes and um yeah it's a tough course really tough but I keep telling her if she she's in the second year doing her big exams today if she can just hang in there and get through the exams you know what a great future she's going to have but um um yeah sorry I digressed uh my big two girls are are up in um over in London they live in London Harriet's a doctor she works at the homon trust in um she's a clinical fellow in infectious disease and Sophie couldn't be more different Sophie's the artist she's the creative one she works in PR in an agency called be and she has some major fashion brands um that she works with bonai Sands and various companies like that so it's all about Beauty and Fashion um she keeps us all in check so yeah so this is Carolina Mia Trel one over one on 40 count seraphim and te lace absolutely L can't wait to get back to it and I I watched Brenda um Brenda and Laura closely when she Stitch that and wished I could have got mine out but I I'm always working on something else so that's my whip for when I come back from holiday and I'm already getting all confused those are the threads and then my three new starts that were called for May one of them was the oh this is in my beautiful Barry with the little did I put that on there I think I might have done actually this is from from uh barri at Stitch folk when I ordered the uh wow box the words of wisdom box last year I haven't opened it yet and um in here I've got my next new start which is Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow and I'm really excited to start this because I love things which have got blocks that you can do a block and put it away and this is um unfortunately I couldn't do cord for because this is on 40c count Exemplar linen by Lakeside which we just can't get that in the UK um I've got one piece of Lakeside linen which I'm too scared to cutle I can't decide which project to choose it for um and that is VTO vintage meowo 40 count vintage meowo that I got at the attic when I went out to meet Jean and all the girls last year I managed to get a last minute place on the autum of abundance which is where I met Paulette and also amazingly met um Alma from Blackbird designs it was just incredible I'll talk about that another time when I show the projects that we were given but um this time my new start for Christmas I managed to find a linen that I thought worked quite well cuz it's got that apricotty P parchment kind of color I thought it matched really well actually and um yeah I think that's a fairly good match it's I hope the White shows up I mean it barely shows up on this one so I think it'll be fine uh I'm using the dmc's This is 40 count Fox and rabbit desert Taipan which we laugh about because I know SE Peak side got such a huge order of desert Taipan that I don't think it's ever going to go out of stock so that we can always get 140 count from Sue um if needs to be on Fox and rabbit which I really like so that's my rather poor little start on belts of Christmas Day the first block of um hawran Holland and that's just all the dmc's I think I said for that in my nice Barry bag I've got two other Barry bags haven't received them yet I've ordered them one is the birthday girl bag you know with the really grumpy girl with the POU and the party hat and I think they're all made to order anyway I haven't received mine and the other one is for Charlotte barington the back from Cherry Colorado cross Stitcher so I thought when I saw that there were bags available I just thought oh just treat myself so so that's my um those are the projects that I've been working on in the month of May and that I plan to work on and I'll come back next month um and show you any progress on that the other thing that I do every month is I have a project um with the Stitchery which is Nikki Franklin and this is embroidery I mean these projects are so gorgeous this is the only thing that I subscribe to so every year I commit to get the monthly projects from her because her work is just I mean it's just absolutely stunning I could open my own Stitchery shop because I've been doing this for years I also get the Christmas Box the Advent calendar the Christmas Eve but I've got a problem with Nikki's stuff but this look at this so this is for April 20124 Pi season this year everything is going to be in a round so that it can be finished in a hoop and I've got the typewriter um I can't remember the details I'll I'll tell you next time I've got a a proper oldfashioned typewriter that you can roll the linen in and type so we can do this although this time Nikki's given us Pi season typed on a tiny bit of linen ready I've got it here I can show you so I can do these at home and make my own now and these are the threads I mean look at the colors it's like fruit salad sweets fruit salad chewy sweets in Britain that we get I don't know if everyone gets those just the most beautiful muted muted all sort of vintagey floral so this year the the theme is a floral season um and next time if if you'd like let me know if you want to see my finishes so it comes on this just gorgeous old vintage it's been boil Washed by her old French vintage linen with all the Nils and knobbles on it it's it can be sometimes quite hard depending on the the batch you get with your kit to get your needles through and it's the one time I I will use a hoop I use Nerge Hoops because I think they just go on and off like butter onto your fabric but I mean look at the colors just fabulous and once you've had she does video tutorials with these so you can just follow on exactly how to how to do the French knots and the bullan knots it's it's so easy and I just love it so that's my Nikki Franklin that I need to do in the month of May when I get back I might take that on holiday with me and then I thought I would show you a couple of finishes that I had to take down that I took to the Stacy Nash Workshop so these were my finishes this month this is my me isn't she adorable look at her Pink Cheeks and her little whiskers and what was so clever is that you do two threads for the black eye so it it almost sh it looks like it's shining like she's got wet eyes it's just so clever anyway she stitched on needle bling 36C count suede which Sue managed to bring back at peakside needle work she managed to bring some back from Market this year so when we did our pre-orders we um I managed to NAB a bit for her and I also did her little radish stand her there this is her little radish stitched in the left cuz I stitch in hand I could use literally the inch and a half left at the bottom of the fabric to do the front and the back on the little book and finish it with this fabulous little tiny mini rose it's like a little old English Rose isn't it so cute and then you tie up so that's that and I also did just in time I think I finished him the day before we went down to to cowlip uh bobin the little mouse again on the on the same fabric it does look like suede it's so effective and these gorgeous little Reds apples or berries with him he's not as cute as Maggie but he's not bad they're stuffed with um Walnut shells Walnut crystals no Walnut shells and this was just an old scratched old Bob and I tried to hide the scratches with a bit of DMC and um yeah just thre him up beautiful love him I didn't buy bobbin initially but then I saw everyone else doing them and I I just had to do it and of course there were many bobbins down at cow slip and lots even more Maggie May yeah she's just she's just gorgeous I wanted to copy um Barry at Stitch fol with the red Mary James but my husband said no do the brown on they're just lovely do do it as she was call for so so I did sometimes I rope him in when I can't choose I ask him to help me make decisions so that's that and the other thing I did do one more thing to try to impress casy when I went down and that was look at this it weighs a tongue cuz I filled it with um sorry I wobbled the table um this is tulip fields pinky I mean it's a it's a big pinky I absolutely love it the rabbit those little blue eggs and the blue tulips going on Salon I just absolutely Ely love this this is stitched I believe on 36C count it's the core for 36count weeks beige and I did put that um fusible stuff the strengthener on the back to stop the crystals cuz it's you know it's quite a loose I love I love weak space just love the color so anyway it's stitched in week's red pair all All Around The Edge and I know how to do this Stitch because I show I wasn't going to show this but I will I will show one other thing I finished this year which was my homework it no it wasn't it was our project when we went to Nickel apartman Hands Across The Sea Retreat um the Great British sampler weekend and we got the by Maggie M Millie MC beans and you type it so the the instructions for how to do a mattress finish on this were so brilliant and Nicola gave us the fusable fleece to line the fabric is 40 count tabby cat wood smoked linen with a veriso silks all in given to us in the kit fabulous pins and we even had a bottle of the Walnut crystals with the British flag on so I'll talk about that another time that that Retreat and some of the other projects we had because I met the most amazing women there um yeah it's all so much to talk about and none of my friends Stitch so I've shown nobody this nobody's seen this except my family and they're so kind and patient with me and but they kind of roll their eyes and you know the Great British sampling weekend how could I forget because it's on the front so I don't even put this on my Instagram because I get stage fright because my Instagram friends and my school friends they all think that I'm insane um so this is why I'm doing a floss to because I hope to make some lovely new friends on FL tube and um yeah I think it's good for me to actually speak these things out loud because I spent an awful lot of time by myself and too much time actually by myself and I don't show the things I do um and sometimes I don't think I realize what a problem I've got with accumulating the stash I'm definitely a sable stier um in that I do have stash accumulated not only belong beyond my life expectancy but definitely beyond my three girls as well if they were ever to take it up and not one of them is interested in stitching or knitting or any anything like that they're too busy they're they're living their best lives in London and uni you know they're party animals they they don't want to be learning how to knit unlike me because when I was young I was a party animal but I did also I've stitched All My Life um I have done lavender and Lace the angel of spring you know when I was before I had children and I gifted the the wedding Laing dur in lace of the bride with the huge dress all beaded with the little bridesmaid to my cousin when she got married so clearly I've been a mad fanatic all my life and and next time I'll show you some of the finishes that I had framed back in the '90s um yes I might I might there possibly a bit now one other um Stacy Nash finish that I have done last year this was this was called Spring basket pinky it's really cute because look at the hens I didn't put a finish normally I put a trim I didn't because I thought the Border just spoke for itself on here and and weirdly I didn't realize until just now pulling this out for the video that I picked exactly the same back as for the um the radish isn't that funny to me obviously this is very Stacy Nash a grunge I always go for something grungy but something with a cute little Rose BD on so that's some of my finishes and I might just before I go share some of my spring things that I've got out on display in my house as you come in the door at the moment I'll I've got my little um real egg it's not a real Nest I hope um and some real eggs in there blown eggs and some of chocolate I think uh and these are some of my finishes that I I just love love so as I've said with I needle and thread I don't think there's a chart that I haven't got unless it's out of print you know um I just collect them I I love everything Bren does I just wish she would sell to us in the UK so here's one I did uh last year yeah the bow needs a bit of waxing perhaps so this is harrietta and Co with some fabric that I had in a shepherd's Bush kit for my Easter Trifles gorgeous gorgeous spotty shabby I forgot what you call it um polka dots so look at her lovely little uh checked skirt and her Easter basket and the blueberries just so pretty this is just on 36count um R&R winter Brew yeah winter Brew I've got lots of that so and I think all this is on c for this can't remember what it's called this is one of my very earliest finishes Springtime messenger by Brenda J with some vintage buttons and this is on the weeks 28 count weeks natural and straw linen one over one uh two over two which I had to do cuz it was on 28 C and I was determined to use the check linen but I I wouldn't do that again I tried it it's it looks fantastic I love it and it's got the again oh look at this tiny little dots on the back and I think this is called rainy cloudy anyway it's a teely blue lady do creates um Chenille trim absolutely love it I love lady do creates trims then we've got this is probably the next oldest This is 40 count summer Kaki linen basket full of Springtime by Brenda chave uh with all the call for really cute I've got most of the others in my never made them have all the charts and again this is I can't remember the name but a lovely sort of dark green with a tiny little so very springy I thought for that and then my next is seasons of seasons of the heart spring I've done them all and I did them as she said with the little Pearl cotton and the cardboard no problem they they don't mine haven't got time oh look at the back the Chula pink is it Chula oh anyway tiny little T pinky red tulips to match the the Border I just thought this was so cute this is on all the call for 40 count vintage country marker mocha then this one this is one of the earliest ones I ever did this is tulip festival oh I just love everything about this the rabbit her dress the Tulips all in called for this is on 36count weak sty Works beige linen with the lady do creates little pom pom trim mini pom pom Trim in vintage love that I've got lots of packs of that because I just look at her shoes oh I just love her she stays out all the time actually she's out all the time cuz I just think it reminds me of my early days when I first discovered American charts and again a very pretty tiny Dy print on the back so these were just stuffed with polyfill order of these because it was in the days when I I didn't really know about Walnut crystals and yeah so those are my finishes and oh and I saved the best to last look at the fabric on the back again from Shepherd's Bush finishing kits just love that and this um Chenille look at I just love the back as but this is my all-time favorite this is Havey any w i mean what a title Havey any wo with the these weird Prim people with the pinstriped trousers on and the shabby sheep and the basket of wool I mean so I've done a little Carol salt box vintage finish that just saying that's it's just adorable it's just adorable so on that note I'm 39 minutes in for my first flos I can't believe for somebody that doesn't speak for days on end doesn't leave the house if I get my own way I W won't leave the house for a week you know occasionally I have to go out and get my hair done on my nails done but thanks for bearing with me I hope I managed to learn to edit and upload the video onto YouTube and I hope to see you again next month to show you what's been called and maybe my Charlotte barington will have arrived by then so thank you all um for watching thanks if anybody watches and please like And subscribe and come back and help me look at what I've done next month and in the meantime take care bye
