oh I have lots to share well not not a huge amount but but I do have some sharing and I have been on a somewhat of a stitching binge lately or or I should say if lost to binge I because when we're on the road sometimes we're in and out of service and it's just frustrating to try to watch or listen or do anything on the internet and so I got somewhat behind so I've been kind of binge watching all of the 2019 recaps the dreams for 2020 the whips the UFOs the thoughts the the prayers the wishes the candle lighting all of that stuff that we do to try to move ourselves forward and I'm like in it a hundred percent so I thought although you know not the most organized person so there is not going to be a format you know I'd like to have a format I'd like to be organized it's kind of like I was watching this gal gently talk about organized oh my gosh I I wish I wish she could be in charge of my life I probably would it probably would work out a whole lot better but I I think I watched her video with my mouth open because I mean she had she started what was that I worked on this number because I was so she started 2019 with over a hundred whips that almost causes me to have a seizure over hundred whips and now and then that doesn't include everything she added that's what she started the year with and and then she added but okay let me back up she got 85 things done you know I mean she should be the CEO of some blue chip company or something 85 finishes in 2009 here I was dancing the happy dance over 12 I am going to continue watching her although she frightens me yeah yeah she frightens me and I I so and and you know how many journals I own I love buying journals I love the covers I love the hope when I buy a journal but I have tons of them on the bookshelf back and sisters because that first page is just I don't know I'm not a journal person I I'm like in my up stitch yeah that's really working for me but to plot out I am too spontaneous I am too compulsive and so to be organized hmm I don't think it's gonna happen so I am NOT going down that rabbit hole I'll go oh there's a gal called Teresa stitcher I think that has a beautiful journal I mean it's got flowers on the front I mean I just love all of that but yeah not not gonna not gonna be for me I'm gonna fly by the seat of my pants being okay if everything isn't perfect and going to enjoy it as much as I can so when I look back on 2019 the one of the highlights of 2019 was actually discovering all of you discovering the floss Tube community that was huge for me that was huge and that came to me through a connection from quilt roadies which is which is quite interesting it is just quite interesting so I am grateful that I'm going into 2020 with a bunch of lost tubers but I am just glad I'm going to 2020 because it is going to be an exciting year for me I just can tell I'm invigorated I am going to hopefully make some changes in my life and I don't know what those are so there's no secret or drama I just know all you can count on is change and so I'm hoping that all the changes that come in 2020 are positive I have made many new friends through floss tubes so that has been a gift an absolute gift and I so love daily non so grateful how she looks at her previous year and what she's grateful for and then reflects back on that because I am definitely grateful for all of you we we know that there's going to be more adventures we're just kind of an adventurous couple not that you know I I guess I don't want everyone to look at G and I and think oh you know my dad and mom this is a little a little personal story so my mom was an immigrant my dad was a self-made man and what they told taught me as a child was never look at what someone else has and make your own dream that it's a waste of time to look at what someone over there might have it just drives you crazy I would to look at someone else and be joyful for them for what they have but not to make it reflect back on yourself and I was taught that as a child so um I can remember my dad and I rowing a boat in an estuary off of the Pacific Ocean and it wasn't even his boat he borrowed it and we were rowing and he told me I must have been maybe seven or eight he told me someday I'm gonna have a sailboat and he did he did and we had many adventures sailing out on the ocean and my mom when she died she was the Commodore of a Yacht Club I mean they truly made their dreams come true and so I am blessed to have been raised to only look at my own self and to make my dreams come true and so that's what I do I really focus on on myself and not on on anyone else I am grateful for them for all that the positives in their life and the successes in their life I love that people have successes I love that they're enjoying their life but it doesn't mean anything negative for me I guess I'm gonna keep plugging ahead and keep enjoying the people I mean keep stitching the stitch that I can stitch and be okay with all of that so I hope that you will come along with me I just realized that any of my little where we where we make our home base so our home base is in Tucson and from there we are now going to branch out with penny the band but we do like having a home base and so this is our little home away from home and it is a little home away from home but we love it and so that's why I had to pack everything in the van and bring it here and hope that it is enough to keep me busy which I think it is and just try to try to put one foot in front of the other in 2020 now back to GMA we are too stubborn strong headed individuals that both believe were right and so it is an adventure together but it works out and we give each other space to enjoy the the things we enjoy doing and so thus I have all this projects but all these project bags here because we left so fast so I'm all over the board now I'm sorry about that no I'm not I it I'm just all over the board so because we left so fast I just brought my mail with me so here I am opening Christmas arts in the first week in January I'm opening Christmas cards yeah and I love them I need oh my gosh my girlfriend caters and her family oh I just love that but one of the things I brought was a sweet sticky kindness and from Tyler Texas Connie I when I open this I thought does she know me or has she talked to someone who really knows me well because Connie sent me two patterns and one is the by the BlackBerry Rabbit queen bee I am so gonna do this I mean it is I'm gonna kick this up sometime in the next month and then she said she didn't know whether I had this or not and whether I wanted it or I could pass it on but I looked at it and almost squealed because I've been struggling with wanting to get this and wanting to behave myself you know stitches shouldn't have to behave themselves and in fact I have this great need to have something mailed to me right here so I might get on on one two three stitcher I might call up acorns and threads and tell them I need a bit of home so she sent this to me and I just can't avoid it because I have been lusting after this pattern it's Mouton de noel collection tralala you know in my other life on quilt roadies and wooly mammoth I'm all about the wool and so I've been wanting this one where since Santa Kris Kringle is riding a sheep oh yes I might have to kick that up too right away so thank you Connie thank you thank you thank you and sorry for it took so long because I just brought my mail with me and finally sat down and opened it yes so now we have entered to 2020 with I think 2020 is gonna be for me the year of the sow yeah yeah suck a lot of lint off the floss maybe holy moly I've got four cells going on now yes well actually three the fourth one doesn't start till tomorrow yes and I'll have to show you what I'm up to oh so you know the Sal if you follow me on Instagram and Facebook I have the cool stitcher Sal that I'm posting daily updates on it and what I wanted what I learned about myself when I started doing that and it's a hard string sampler II the motto sampler is that I'm a motif stitcher do you know what that is a motif stitcher I'm a motif stitcher which means that I can't quite relax till I get one little motif totally done it can be a tiny tiny little flower but I want to get it done and when I get it done I'm okay putting it back down until the next day but so that's how I have been approaching that project and it is working quite well for me if I only get one little leaf done I'm okay with that because it's one more leaf than I happened four so that project is ever so quietly moving forward in an extraordinary way by doing it one motif at a time I I act I actually can guarantee you it will be done in 2020 because it's it it works in my brain the way my brain marks and so that one I'm posting on Instagram and Facebook so the next cell that stuff oh no now before I go the next cell my January first start I I said it was gonna do dream big little mermaid in my last video but I suddenly realized what the heck were you thinking that's so basically I think that's gonna be a really doable chart to stitch and that little little mermaids birthday is until this summer and I think I could start it later this year and still get it done the project that I was kind of stressing about was the one that I decided to do for my sister's birthday my sister believe it or not here we are we're AARP we are old people is turning 70 I can't stand that she's turning 70 I'm the little sister though but I decided for her birthday that I was going to do this chart because she is Korean I am half Korean she is full Korean and I just when I saw this it's a soda stitch calm design I just thought it was adorable it's the collection of Korean traditional clothes and it took a ton of force and I'm doing it all in DMC but her birthday is in October we both have birthdays in October and there's one two three four five six seven eight eight of these little people and so in my mind I thought I would do one a month get it done and then have to him to frame it before her birthday but here's the thing there is this huge hole there's so much I've learned from all of you on floss tube I know I'm rambling but I still can't quite get the size and figure out so here's here's how big these little I'm gonna just show you half of a person so there's there's how big they are so I was thinking that's how big their canopy I said gosh this is gonna be I mean look at how long this pattern is and I mean just to just to show you though oh those are all the other cool patterns but just I'm gonna just bring it across here these are the DMC's you see that DMC yeah yeah so um I was thinking I better get started because this thing is huge it's huge and then I I couldn't figure out how to figure out how to fit it on my piece of brick because I don't start in the middle I start on the edge and so then what I did was I decided to stitch two of the motifs so I stitched the corner motif I stitched one and then I actually counted 68 squares down to the bottom one so I could know exactly how tall these little people are and yeah but what I did find out when I was doing this is that they are severely confetti heavy so I did that one little read and there must be about there must be about eight or ten different color changes in her dress so I think it was a good thing that I started it um as January for a start because I really do want to get this done for her birthday it's so adorable it is so adorable but the piece I had was twice this size yeah and this is how this is how dangerous Island twice the the width so it was I cut I cut this much off when I figured out I didn't have to handle all that white fabric and then living dangerously I actually ate some cherry tomatoes while I was doing this of course I would pop a tomato in my mouth and eat it like that so if it squirted it had hit that white wall over there but wouldn't hit my white fabric this is on antique 32 count antique antique yeah it's 32 count antique white Lugano and it is scary to have something so clean so that was my January first start so feeling pretty comfortable got my cool stitcher cell got the January first start but then Becca's birthday happened today and so I got up and I started stitching so I could at least get my stitch in and Beckett Becca of Samri stitches we're doing this sell oh wait a second I have a I have a sell that started before the self gosh okay so search the skies down started today January fourth cuz that's Becca's birthday wish her a happy birthday and I have tell you this horrible horrible story so I went over to the printer in the office to print up the pattern to make a working copy so I could do some highlighting and in fact the the copy machine that I was using printed all this jibber-jabber over the top of my original copy I don't know how I did it but I was sick I was absolutely sick and I went up to the office and I said wow wow and so she Valerie which is this awesome awesome person she went online and got a PDF download of this pattern for me which was awesome so I could start it so there I am my little um my little Kris Kringle who's gonna be stunned to be searching the sky for him so I got that started and this is on 28 count blue spruce Cashel linen and it's a waxing moon design and you can see it we have a hashtag search the skies search the skies but now and we're going backwards a little bit because I forgot I forgot the the cell that I started on December 31st and that is with stitch goes my heart and Marian the librarian and a whole bunch of you also and this was quite interesting for me because this is a free download on owl forest embroidery it's a Russian site and so there is some language that you have to kind of work around and it is divided up in two parts and so part one begins in the right lower corner yeah so that's where you start the right lower corner because you don't start in the center not that I would start in the center I wouldn't started in the center but you start in the right lower corner and so it's a little bit like when you go into some cultures you're reading the book from the what we would think would be the back of the book forward this is kind of like you start so here we go I'm gonna post that to the hashtag but I got the the little house done and that is this a free pattern so I can show you the chart so there's there's this I'm kind of excited to have that done because I want to do the tornado I think the tornado will be so much fun to do and I just love this fabric this is fabric called I got this at stitch Ville watercress jobe 128 count took a picture of that I posted to the hashtag okay and so tomorrow I hope I know bendy stitches has Oh before I go on to that look at my look at my little this is you know what this is it's my working team it's my working dinner it's got orcs in it that's the thing the work container in the van is the rug on the floor their work nope it might as well been a shag rug but yeah this is my little orc container it's so cute I got it because of the Wizard of Oz isn't that sweet I got that at a Japanese shop in downtown Portland oh ok so tomorrow tomorrow is sleeping be Sal like a blue flower and I'm gonna do something I have never done before I went ahead and did a photo twerking copy of the chart and I'm going to tape it all together and I'm gonna start at the center because it's a circle and I it's kind of funny how different things work for different brains and this brain has some issues and so if it had been a square I would have done the whole outside edge but it's a circle I don't know why that makes a difference but it really made a difference and I was struggling with it last night and I said okay I'm gonna make a working copy and I'm gonna find the center of course it took me 10 minutes to figure out the center because I was going how do people figure out the center how do they know that how do they figure out the center and after 10 minutes I noticed if there was some marks on the outside yeah yeah there's still a lot to learn there is but I can be grateful because the number one thing I learned in 2019 about floss was that if you pull the DMC from the end that has the number on it it doesn't get tangled you know why don't they print that on the little label pull here that's that was the best tip all of you that give me all these tips I really appreciate it because it has made a huge difference to my cross-stitching life I'm looking forward when I go to Cave Creek to visit some girlfriends at the end of the month beginning of February end of the month I get to go to the app and I'm thinking that attic needs to sell me something they probably are they probably financially need to sell me something and I'm I am so willing to help them out because you know we want them to stay open you know what I mean yeah one more thing that I want to share with you before I go and start stitching on the blue flower sleeping be is on so grateful Dalene okay she did this to one of her projects which to me is somewhat genius it totally did it to one I'm gonna do it like to a lot of my projects and that is she took a picture of herself holding the project and then she mounted that picture on the back of the project now just think do you think that your children aren't going to feel just awful donating your stitchery to Goodwill with your photo on the back I am thinking that sheer genius I am going to do that and put it on every cross stitch I make my photographs so when they start to go put that in the donation bin and they turn it over and see their mom looking at him they might think twice about doing it that's day we shared what she did with one but I am taking it to the next step let's unite to preserve our family stick cheese that's what I'm thinking okay until next time I hope I get further ahead on my projects I hope you do too I'm so excited with what everyone's doing I have filled my cart and emptied my cart several times but I know when I go to the addict I'm gonna help them out so have a great great week great month and enjoy your stitching and be kind
