FLIPPING CHEAP BIKES UNTIL WE CAN BUY THE NEW YETI ARC

welcome back guys uh to what are we doing today it's brady again the mechanic i i'm a jack of many trades but i'm mainly the mechanic and uh today i'm really ex really excited for this project okay okay if you just follow me right here i really really want a new bike and i don't want just any bike because blah blah blah blah blah i want the new yeti arc like that one up there but it's a medium like like for 2022. i want a new one but me being the cheap person that i am i don't want to pay for it so we are gonna go through the process of flipping cheap bikes until i get the yeti arc until i get enough money for the yeti arc okay how much a brand spanking new one cost which is 3600 we have a long long way to go and this is this all stems from my experience in uh lawn mowers i used to mow lawns way before i was a mechanic i still sometimes do but when a mower would break down is i would go buy a mower like an old one a facebook marketplace and i'd take those parts off of that old one to fix the one i had fun little hobby and then we're putting all of those skills with my negotiating skills and my facebook marketing marketing skills and my selling skills into flipping bikes to get the yeti arc this is going to be a lot of fun right here i have the univega supra sport as you can tell it's in pretty bad shape but it's not in it's honestly not in horrible shape what i do when i first look at these bikes to you know resell or you know buy i look at the price i got this for 20 i was able to talk him down a little bit he was nice enough he was just trying to get rid of them it is a cool cool bike i had some knowledge about the bike before i showed up and that is your first step that you want to do before you do any of these events is you want to know about the bike before you go so you can talk to the owner of the bike about hey why is this why do i want to pay less for this bike or why do i want to pay more i saw that the tires were flat and they look very very old so immediately i go hey man will you take off money for this because there's tire rod he already had it severely discounted because he had already noticed the seat post but also you know i was like hey these tires are rather warm and he was like okay there's just a little bit of rust right here and i think a lot of this will clean up the bar tape will need to be cleaned up this freewheel on this bike will need to be cleaned up as well and when i look at this bike it needs a lot of cleaning which will be in another video but component wise it is pretty a pretty good bike now we have to discuss our budget what i'm looking at right here is so i paid 20 bucks for that bike so i'm gonna look up a univega supra sport road bike and i'm gonna see how much they're worth and right away i see the the um lettering 200 yeah it's over and over again one on ebay 200 bucks so if i'm able to fix this bike up as cheap as possible i could potentially get 200 bucks usually in the bike industry you want to make about 30 margin and i'm seeing some for going for 300 200 i mean i see one that's not even fully uh fully built and it's 130. let's say that we're going to sell this bike for 300 this is just an if statement and right now currently i would be happy with a 200.00 so if i'm trying to make 30 profit i want to uh i want to make about 84 bucks off of this bike not a time but it's gonna it's gonna help you in the long run if you just keep organized like this so take 300 minus 84 quick math 6 1 2 16. that's because you didn't subtract the 20. and also minus the 20. let's get out the calculator for this one let's just take two oh i can do it quick one ten ten eight so we're looking at 186 let me get on my calculator just to double check i'm i'm pretty sure it's 196. 196. i calculated wrong so we have 196 196 dollars to make this bike as cool as possible now i don't honestly think with everything that bike needs on it it's going to meet this budget so that just i mean you're adding way way more profit and now let's make a list of everything the bike needs potential tires and tubes as i look at them along the side there is a little bit of rot i think i personally would like to uh um replace them but we'll just see if they're holding air and then kind of got this tan wall look on it i think it would be cool to potentially get some like tan bar tape and this bar tape's pretty old and this will be a really really fun experiment i don't think we've had a video of me taping taping bars some bar tape maybe a tan seat what do you guys think let me know potential tires and potential tubes other than that your next step is uh ordering um and then so uh i think next video we're going to put how much the total of um the order was for uh everything that we ordered and then we're gonna go through the process of cleaning this entire bike to look it to make it look as brand new until next time guys always good to see you stay tuned
