[Music] [Music] hey guys so we are in this Teensy tiny little cottage of a house it has been super fun to just have some downtime with our family rather than traveling and wanted to talk to you about how I keep my cooking supplies condensed down enough that we can keep them in the back of the minivan when we're not using them and they're easy to access but they're also super easy to use so I sent most of my pots and pans home the ones that were sentimental value like my cast iron the two pans that I did keep is a flat iron type skillet [Music] and then my pressure cooker and the way that this has been a lifesaver is that sometimes you really don't know what you're coming into in an Airbnb or a rental that's that's furnished or even in a hotel and with a pressure cooker you can cook things as if they were in an oven rather than just what would be stove top cooking because they pressurize and you can put them in a really really low heat and cook just about anything without it burning and it's very fast the other wonderful thing about a pressure cooker is that it doesn't heat up your space it Cooks so fast and because when it's under pressurized mode it holds most of the steam in you're not heating up your kitchen if you're going to do something that's really starchy that doesn't have a water base in it you can use a steamer basket to keep it from getting um saturated with water and it also makes the time faster because you can add less water it pressurizes nicely the trick with pressure can pressure canning and pressure cooking is that you want to use as little water as possible you don't want to fill the whole thing with water because what's actually cooking is the pressurized heat not the actual water and only two and that's because it's nice to have a liquids and a dry goods when you're baking and when I am done baking I I use these as my wash and rinse bowls I think one of the nicest things about being in a tiny space is that you can turn anything into decoration and if you shop at thrift stores it doesn't cost very much this bowl I think it was more than I would usually spend in a in a thrift store but I thought we needed something decorative and it can also be used as a serving ball I think this was $5 if I remember correctly a pretty bottle that kind of matches the green the bathroom is in green and so that's why the dishes are in green um yeah most of the drawers don't actually have anything in them because and and and it's nice it's kind of nice because we really do have everything we need but we don't have anything that causes clutter or that we have to really work around okay so this is the living room it has a nice carpet on the floor a nice couch the house was partially furnished it is a really cute old house in in the the line of what houses used to be if you had a starter house or something you would be at about 500 ft I think this is actually less than 500 ft what did we figure it was 380 380 ft so just underneath the tiny house qualification I guess um what we would like to do is put a dining table here and a big Hutch here and the reason for that is that there's only one closet and we do have some blankets that we would like to be able to fold up and maybe some of the kids' school books we would like to be able to hide a little bit right now what you're seeing is that this house is under a little bit of renovation still and so our stuff is in here as well as some of the owner's tools so it it's not as cute as it will be when there's not Tools in here but it's a nice space and if you have children and you're in a space like this it's not a deal killer Paige sleeps on the couch at night this is ka's uh folded out cot bed that we borrowed from the owner so she just puts her bed out at night and we set her up and um this is their school space it's just a little coffee table but these are the boxes that I had all of our books and school supplies in on the trip and then in front of page is their toy box that has all of their crafting supplies and and the chest board yep and the chest board and so they fit under there really nicely okay here is something that I'm really glad that I brought it came in really handy this is a little stationary set that had a handle and we I had it for forever but you do still need some kind of stationary supplies we needed stamps we needed postcards to send back to family glue sticks that the lookout left off um and so this has been really nice it's really nice and Compact and works great even though it isn't perfect we call it the pink box it is the pink box so we have this little coffee table that we use for school and they sit on cushions in front of it it does work best to separate them during school it just makes things go better A lot of times John will be in in here with one of them and I'll be in the bedroom working now the bedroom is a work in progress because we are using our rubber Maids as Furniture um the owner wants a particular look to the furniture and we haven't been able to find it yet so we are just kind of it it hasn't been miserable though I forgot to show the I guess I could show the picture we don't have a kitchen table so we use buckets for the girls to eat around so uh John and I eat on stools around the washer and dryer it hasn't been a big deal we could go get a card table but to all intents and purposes we eat just fine and it's actually what we did in our house before we left because we sold our kitchen table before we were um finished before we moved so the girls ate around buckets which meant that they could um be close to their food and it wasn't so messy so they have this little propane is propane right natural gas natural gas heater and they just have these little cutouts with tiles on the floor so it doesn't overheat which I think is cute we haven't used it yet uh being in Oklahoma it's a little bit warm for that the reason why I made faces because that was the way that I could see okay so here is the place where we have kind of Jerry rigged Furniture this is my desk it is one of the rubber Maids we used to put things in while we were traveling this is John's desk here's our camera equipment space this is the girl space this is Kai's uh sleeping bag it's ours to stuff it in and this are these are the bags and the toys that the girls are allowed and you can see that Kai's doing her school okay so okay so this bed was is a loner we obviously didn't bring this bed we have found the sirens just pop up every so often school it didn't make sense to buy a bed or even really an air mattress because most of the time when we are traveling we're staying in airbnbs or we're in a tent or something and the air mattress takes up a lot of space so we put down a couple blankets on top of the mattress to give ourselves some buffer between someone else what would have been someone else's mattress and during the day we store the girls blankets on our bed plus their pillows and that way because we don't have a hutch it it makes it so that we don't have a bunch of blankets and pillows out in the living room and it's worked just fine uh and we didn't bring hangers with us usually when we're traveling we pull our clean clothes out of each of our rubber Maids where they are segregated so we can find them easily so we don't use hangers and we had to go buy hangers while we're here we didn't get enough so that's one thing is when you first get there make sure to find your Essentials so that it's easier to keep things clean once you are established and that would be one thing would be hangers okay so this is the bathroom and the way that we made it work was to bring in baskets usually I like to get Baskets at Fred Meyers they're inexpensive they have a huge selection this time we had to use Target because they don't have Fred Meers in the area it is expensive but it does allow you a lot of different options for storage as you want different options it means you can use the storage that's already there one of the ways that I like to do that um we we didn't buy them ourselves the owner bought them CU he will obviously keep them but what I've done in my home is that I'll take cardboard boxes that are the right size and then I will cover them up in fabric that I found at the secondhand store that was closely resembling each other so it kind of gave an eclectic look but here we just went with baskets and so rather than having dresser drawers or worrying about purchasing something like that we again we still use our rubber Maids so we have the girls clothes in bins still in the bottom of the closet and then we use one of the bins as our journey clothes okay you can see the girls clothes are still in bin so that's all their clothes with the exception of their coats which are hung up here and that's sturdy clothes so I love to use rubber maids and cardboard boxes to make a space nice and I do try to get my fabric at secondhand stores um sometimes you can find some nice vintage pretty fabric who's concentrating harder these are our two scenes that are making a weaving in bed the concentration exactly right refutes laughter and corny Chinese fortune cookie endings okay so I don't don't have an oven I need to make Paleo biscuits and so that's what I've done no oven no heat so what I did instead was I took my cast iron skillet see if I can get to come up and I did I put a bowl over them if I'd had a big cast iron like pot that they could have been in that would have been much better but I didn't and they are just about done so I put the lid of a bowl the bowl as a lid and I have the heat on medium but this this is what they look like they Rose really really well I used buttermilk and the regular recipe but they're really flaky they're really good I know because the part that got wasted I ate it so there we go we will try our paleo B biscuits we've got soup and cranberry juice cranberry juice and hopefully it's super tasty I'm really happy with how those Rose um this is the recipe except it was written down incorrectly and it's 1/4 cup of butter and you you Fork the butter in when it's cold it has to be cold and then you add the buttermilk a bit at a time until you have a good dough so am I cutting
