welcome back to the channel everyone my name is Joe buskins this is our family's boat shop and this is our YouTube channel fish pump TV welcome we've got a really cool thing going on I'm excited about it we've finally got a project boat in the shop now a lot of you folks have been following us you've seen the build of our big 29 you've seen a whole bunch of DIY type stuff but now it's time to start doing some real world practical applications and this is the project boat behind me 21 ft got 150 horse outboard motor nice aluminum Trail I figure that fits in the parameters of a lot of what you folks are working on and I believe we got some floor Stringer transom issues for sure so let's do an unveiling if you guys want to check out and when I say project boat I'm not kidding look up look up in there so this this boat has already been started and it is one of those that has turned into a little bit bigger ordeal than maybe what the owner had hoped for in the beginning and that's how it goes a lot of times with project boats in general check it out folks we've got Parts laying everywhere um this thing has already been cut it's been cut two pieces so a little bit of the demo is already done and I tell you man you got to be careful when you buy a boat because the taken apart part is a lot easier than the putting it together part but I know a lot of you folks have been super excited about seeing us build a boat put one back together this is actually an older 21 ft Blazer Bay which Blazer bays are actually kind of built in our vicinity of the the part of the the world the northern Gulf Coast uh there over in Florida but very close to us very popular boats in our region and they're based on the kers and that's what I used to have in my charter boat uh operation was a 20 3T ker so you can see we've we've got floor issues going on we may have some Stringer issues there's definitely you can hear the crackling and the the popping and the flexing and the console needs a lot of love for sure let's take a closer look all right we J just got this in and you guys are kind of seeing it as I'm seeing it so you can see we've got the fuel tank is fully exposed this boat has some aluminum hatches that go over the back for your little Cubbies back there but there are all kind of miscellaneous Parts we've got switch panels we've got control boxes um there's some definitely something going on with this transom folks anytime you're looking at boats and you see someone has added some kind of bracing and you can see there's a bit of curve here and a whole bunch of silicone Andor maybe some 5200 there that is a pretty good indication there's been some cracking and some stress also anytime you've put a jack plate or an extension or a bracket on the transom that is going to amplify the uh the stress that it puts on the transom so I'm not excited about there being a bad transom ultimately if you were going to buy a a project boat you would hope the transom is solid but on the good side there's a high likelihood we are going to get into it and that will give you guys some good info now I grew up and you guys know I'm a fan of Yamaha outboard motors but this is an old school Yamaha this is a 150 it's a two cycle which you can't even buy the two cycle Yamaha anymore and there's quite a bit of corrosion around the head gasket and this is a carburated engine but folks I got this boat for let's just say it was a price I couldn't turn down it's got potential and I was kind of happy that it needed some work because it gives me something put back together and show everybody at home how to replace their floor Stringer transom even Cosmetics if we check out the uh the console here this thing has been cut all two pieces and I have a feeling that we're going to do some modifications the top of it has just an insane amount of holes and you can see the POR foam within there's a high likelihood when they built this boat the PO foam doesn't fill up the cavity completely and there's certainly going to be uh there's something lacking there for sure and then we may reconfigure this up front the these compartments right here used to be the seats I believe I've got the right one it used to go there or on the other side and then you can see obviously the bowel deck is cut out but I think making this so that we've got one level or one plane or one deck is the way to go so one thing I like to do and look at those when you're buying a project boat is if if you even if it's a good deal if it's uh if you can't get back out of it if you really needed to say for example if you could pick up a boat for 1,000 bucks but you know for a fact you could sell just the trailer for 1,000 bucks you're in pretty good place that way if you change your mind you're like you know what and that's the case with this boat a good aluminum Magic Tilt trailer fairly decent tires fairly nice Wheels the axles I can see the the axles behind here are actually in really decent hope you guys can see those they are in decent shape the springs and the hanger bolts basically what I call the running gear of this trailer the trailer is worth um it's got some value there so it's kind of it makes it worthwhile now I would be curious what you folks would like to see us do with this thing I could probably put it back like Factory exactly like it was we may change the forward bow deck casting area may do some modifications to the console I don't know yet this is really a fishing boat and it's kind of more for our part of the country but that 20 to 22t boat with the 115 to 200 horse motor and aluminum tandle tandem ax and trailer gives you a lot of options and this is the kind of boat a lot of you folks could probably use and would like to have now there's also a good bit of gel coat d damage you see we've got a number of big chunks knocked out of it and I also have an option and I don't know I would like to get y'all's opinion on it old school two-stroke or I actually have a 200 Suzuki that was on my ker that had some power head issues but the rest of the motor is in excellent shape and I'm kind of contemplating do we try to fix up the old school two-stroke or do we go back with a more modern four cycle fuel inject ected and a little more horsepower I think this boat with a 200 would be a rocket ship this thing would would fly and then probably when we're all done with this boat we're going to put it up for sale um I've got our big 29 I would love to keep it but for right now it probably doesn't fit in my world as far as the YouTube videos and our Charter operation maybe someday we will have a chance to do something like that but yeah I am pretty excited I hope everyone watching channel is excited as well so be sure to stay tuned if you haven't already
