Fish Devour These Dark Color and 8-inch Gulp Baits!

are uh commercial draggers out on gardner's bay and um yeah there's about three of them behind us two there another two or three in front of us so there's quite a few of them so it must be some kind of life in here that orange haze you see around the sun that comes from actually wildfires on the west coast and that smoke is made in thousands of miles all the way here to the east coast so i've got the usual crew on rick's boat rick jack and cliff and we're gonna head out and try for some fruit and another unusual sight as we rounded the corner out into the oceans lots of dolphin on top chasing bait birds on top of them so yeah lots of life this morning wow look at all that whole line of stuff huh it stinks like fish it's great yeah all right and here we go three minutes into our first trip i got fluke bounce on there oh yeah he's starting already [Music] you should be fishing next to me cliff so i can get some video skinner i'm feeling this right back here oh no all right two keepers on the first drift um yeah and jackson again this is the second drift i'm gonna have a lot to say about colors um all right so hey i've got some standard colors if i could only have one it would be glow white i feel like that's never the wrong thing out here in these deep clear waters i really like the salmon red other ones that are great are blue fuse pink shine all these these brighter colors but today i'm gonna have some success with a dark color and uh and we're gonna get to that i'm not starting off with it too much but i'm gonna get there nice yep real nice [Music] all right a couple of previous trips i've had some success with this camo color it's uh yeah it's definitely a darker one that's an eight inch grub so i'm not using a regular teaser on there i'm using just a plain hook and i'm doing that because i'm trying to cut down on the drag in the water and that eight inch grub is definitely gonna have more drag than the usual six inches that we use so uh a plain 6-0 gamakatsu bait holder hook so we had started fishing 70 feet we've moved out to about 90 feet we've moved a couple miles out got out of the fleet and we're drifting by ourselves i would have a net ready i don't i don't know what this is uh yeah i got it yeah maybe i fouled something like how you normally do really hard to tell i think that's a fluke [Music] if he's not fouled it's a decent fluke it's a it's a fluke i can tell yeah it is a fluke it's a matter of if he's hooked properly or not [Music] i don't know why you didn't come out here sooner rick ah got my big guy back wow that was a big one yeah eight eight inches yeah he's he's like hey you got a legit keeper coming up on rick's rod yeah so i'm using some of those bigger grubs uh there's been some really big fluke caught at montauk this particular day the montauk star party boat a really excellent boat um got a 15 pounder and i believe that same angler had caught a 12 and a half a few days prior they're a few miles away from us all right make sure to keep the pressure on the rod you know i can keep this going south any minute why there's this fish he's going in there afterwards coming up here he comes here keeper wow wow why don't you just try to knock it off mike [Music] all right let's get a mark right there i got marks right here oh good good i'll give it another one all right we're still on the same trip oh john's got a big one yeah yes see the way he brought that in that's how you do it [Music] thank you jack all right both my fish have come on that uh camo color i think we should move up that was a nice move up drift a little farther let's establish how we just because he caught one the same time as me so but but when we go up not too far past those marks try to tighten it up that's four keepers here [Music] all right rick i'm up so yep i'm all set to go here that's a nice fish rick wanted to go up don't go anywhere it's a good one it is a good one yeah yeah this is going to be six plus i think this is maybe more plus yeah this is uh i think seven plus take a drag it's stopping the the dragon yeah no this is a serious fish coming up coming up really weird big fish keep them going just keep moving so no drama no drama netting nice tough [Music] what do you hit there looks like a skinner bucktail in a orange cult rick why don't you just go back down take care of this fish keep fishing we should uh put that on the boat is the boga yes i got it back here i'll do that just keep fishing holy moly [Music] eight eight pounds [Music] let's move right rick yeah let's move we just caught two fish let's get the hell out of here so i just took care of rick's fish and uh and recovering from having caught that one myself bricks in again boy rick's caught two big fish before i could even get back in the water from the one i caught taking line [Music] i'm not abandoning you rick i'm just oh that is the big net okay this is a good one i think this is at least what you just pulled in no that's well that's because the boat's slipping down too yeah here we go another real nice one me i couldn't reach it i just couldn't reach it ah i just couldn't reach it it was a little smaller than the other one yeah yeah right okay replay shows the fish came straight up head out of the water oh yeah with the head out of the water that's when they can shake that's what he did uh we don't lose too many oh well all right cliff is hooked up in the bow something incredible happened this day fluke fishing one of the boats that's in a couple of miles from us with a bucktail and gulp hooked and landed a white marlin and we saw the pictures that's amazing um not just that they hooked it that they actually landed it on i heard it was a 5 000 size spinning reel so uh wow congrats to them no you're you're conservative about it so if you say it's a net it's a net i guess yeah no that's good i don't need nothing [Music] nothing like your eight pounder rick but you know see that of course not that's why i always want he's no longer i can't give him a little bit of leeway he takes the whole field you know what i mean hang on all right so that uh eight inch gulp's getting a little washed out there so i'm gonna stick it in the back in the bag and get a five inch i just you know i want to try something different show them a different size but i definitely want to keep one of those camo gulps down oh you're getting it yes yes i need a net oh it's a strange fight could be uh it could even be a really i don't know it could be a really big sea bass i don't know i think it's a nice fluke it's just a strange it's snagged in the lip you know i'm not used to hooking them in the mouth so that's the right kind isn't it yeah it is trying to try nice got it excellent excellent job john you know i just switched to the five inch camo just switched hey getting one of those camos they're about six dollars each [Laughter] five pounds yep easy six just put that on look at that i'm gonna create it i'm gonna create i caught them all on this i'm to create a run on these things i know you can't get in the store i have no idea camo they sat in the bottom of my drawer because i thought to myself camo i don't want blending in you know i want it to stand out [Music] cmo ammo everyone's up well yeah everybody's up i think but uh some more to this trip okay i'm putting down down i know it's illegal but i put a camo on both the bucktail and the teaser this time yeah i know wow desperate times call for desperate measures but honestly i've been putting it up against all the regular colors today now maybe they're just grabbing the teaser but i don't think so i actually the third trip i've used them and the other two trips they i mean there weren't a lot of fish the other two to three trips yeah he said he caught that marlin at the frisbees and that uh it was the boat the light blue ball with the green stick okay right fish right fish whoa that's what happens when you put two camos on at the same time that's why you know it's outlawed but wow oh nice well some shakes on there i'll bring him over to you when the time comes guys here we go come on sorry you're right yeah no no i was all right you were whacking me in the face with the rod he's got every excuse in the book oh nice one camo well he didn't have any choice camo i couldn't see what was going sorry about that you know what happened was he went under the yeah he knocked under the boat yeah so i couldn't pull him in but you know what they had been all on the teaser so i was wondering well maybe it's a teaser but he grabbed camo on the bottom yeah so nothing wrong with the bucktail all right i scattered whatever camo i had left up to the rest of the boat and uh yeah rick's using it now but hey the the fluking really shut down but we're gonna see a couple fish that we don't usually see [Music] a flounder a winter flounder yeah it is son of a gun how big of flounders oh is it out of season oh yeah it is out of sight absolutely sure 12 inches two fish look at that yeah well i remember when we were little kids they were paved the bottom yeah so look people that's what a flounder looks like see jack difference a tiny little mouth and they're out of season jack absolutely yep nice little fatty though yeah he's got a little meat on them of an endangered species it's the last one rick oh you gotta jumped out of my hand oh he ate my uh nah he was on the other one on the bottom somebody else ate my camel [Music] look at that i caught one once out of cox's ledge oh my goodness another one could it be the same one i think it's got to be the same house another hole in there it's unfortunate i hit him in the stomach too um i don't see any holes because i don't think i think i snagged him kind of like you did i don't see any other holes it would be a really bad day for him if he got foul hooked by us twice he would have to be saying what the hell what did i do wrong today really i got up out of the wrong side of the bed so this is the flounder spot huh occasionally i get some rude comment on my youtube videos like i got one uh that was a flounder you yankee yeah okay all right and i gotta take the high road and explain that where we are they're two different fish flounder means something else right so what we call fluke uh south of new jersey they call them flounder and uh they don't understand why we call them flute but that's why you know we have winter flounder which we call flounder and then summer founder we call fluke right if you like this video please hit the like button
