so right now we just came out of hillsborough inland a lot of you guys asked where are you from where you fish we're from pompano beach florida which is just north of fort lauderdale and the inlet we generally go out of is this guy right here you guys can see it way off in the distance there's the lighthouse it's a very scenic inlet the only other inlet around us that i know of that has a lighthouse is jupiter inlet you guys have seen us go out of that one too it is a beautiful day and we like victor said we haven't had a flat glass calm day like this in a really long time so i'm feeling lucky and just really happy so hopefully we can catch some fish oh it's back whatever it is is taking line yeah first day on the boat seriously what they're swimming real slow just a dead sardine no no we got it we have i gotta have it i just think it's real small unless it's our dog you're really a little squeaky there yeah he is isn't he where are you oh it's uh who's that oh a romora well it means there's a shark around somewhere tough day out here boys and girls real tough day we just spent the last four and a half hours trolling all the way from hillsborough inlet to basically highland beach now we got a drift going and we got ourselves a remora so these guys got a suction cup on them and demonstrate real quick watch this this is what these are the fish that hold on to sharks and other big fish and raisin stuff they suction cup just like that that's not magic that's nature at work right there he's got a suction cup on his head come on slide him up and hook him up he's adapted see ya dude in like 200 feet of water and whenever brick and i drift i always like to drop a jig vertical jig and i just got smoked on the bottom and it's always exciting and it gives you something to do when you're drifting with live baits you know you've got your top one out your bottom one out kill time with the jig and you can catch a ton of different species i mean we've got blackfins on them amberjacks mountains on them a giant gag grouper on them african pompano brook just caught recently everything eats them this i'm gonna say is a blue runner oh my gosh oh my gosh nice should i net it no no no watch wow we got lucky we got lucky too i'm dropping right back down catch a ton of different species it's an obnoxious piece of metal just flailing through the wall water column there's always fish around and now you're able to cover the entire water column and that's why we always like to jig and now we got dinner we don't catch anything else we got dinner first fish of the day not a bad one oh he's all lit up right now too super pretty species number two on the jig what's it gonna be well yellow jacks are out in the back so i'll tell you something so this is that mustad vertical jig i told you guys about and i haven't said this in a while all of mustad products at mustadfishing.com you guys can save 20 off use my code landshark wait hold that jig up like next to him like look how big of a bait compared to the fish little fish go crazy after this because it's moving so radically they don't know what it is and they just go crazy for it i mean look at those silly colors it looks good to the fisherman i don't really think that the fish care but it just entices a bite like nothing else a fish this small i would throw back but yellow jacks have a lot of yield for their size they're unregulated in florida which means you can keep two fish per person or a hundred pounds whichever is greater and yeah since we only got one i'm gonna keep this guy as well and what i mean by vertical jigging is you guys may have seen these in stores they're they come in so many different sizes and now there's a big slow pitch craze but basically any metal or lead jig in any type of shape that's dropped down to the bottom and retrieved on the way up is called jigging this style jig a really thin profile jig it cuts through the water really easily you guys will see what i do is i let it hit the bottom sometimes i'll bounce it off the bottom two or three times like this and let it sink sometimes you get hit that way and then i'll just real erratically jig it while reeling on the way up so this one was right on the bottom like i told you guys when you first drop it that nice sharp jerk right off the bottom that's how i got this guy to eat like a grouper you know he's not a big one but i love it when i actually tell you guys you can catch a bunch of different fish and guess what we're catching a bunch of different fish little red grouper you know recently we were on the west coast with tyler degraff you guys saw that video with the african pompano and the grouper we caught not this past trip with the trip before that he caught the biggest red grouper of the trip on a vertical jump dude so what brook just did is we vented him to deflate him and now he should be able to swim down just like that what all right so this is the coolest thing ever like i was telling you guys i'm going to get him back real quick but we got to get some video of him this is all the longest tracer yes this is a baby african pompano we just caught the the giant version of these on the west coast and look at these these are his tracers they have these real it almost looks like manowar tentacles um they have these long tracers look at that how pretty is that he's gonna lose him as he gets older so see ya oh my gosh so beautiful i'm just catching everything out here on the jig on this little mustad jig i think it's a school of little blackfins we're gonna keep marking these fish down there and we keep getting waxed these real aggressive wax oh yeah that's gotta be a little black fin oh yeah you guys see that rod bouncing like that should i drop mine too yeah go ahead just turn the gopro on you know what's amazing we have two live baits out we have a dead sardine out and the only thing we're getting action on all day is the jig [Music] they're still look at the screen drop down drop down the hammer do you think he's gonna be able to catch this look i reeled it right into him i just spotted a shark with his um fin on top of the water it is 357 and we've been out here since 8 o'clock this morning i have not seen hardly anyone post anything on instagram a lot of local people post stuff on instagram and if you guys aren't following me on instagram you should at landshark outdoors i post a lot of stuff there daily and at brookiecrist with the shameless insta plug we've been trying out here for you guys um did a couple of drifts not anything going on it seems like every single vote went in too just one of those days where you're gonna have to go in with your one yellow jack like a nice sashimi platter that's what i'm feeling i'm feeling some type of sashimi ceviche type thing just for brook and i since it's not a lot of food but crazy thing is we have this beautiful live bait and the only thing we caught fish on today is the jigs what's the jig eight inch dexter flexible fillet let's clean them up right here behind the head right here on the spine oh man this is the most gorgeous meat and such an underrated fish i feel like this year we've done a lot of yellowjack catching cooks on the channel it's been a good year for them right there yep with captain ryan on the bridges that's it i mean it does not get better super firm just delicious fish gotta leave a little there because they got pretty thin skin and it's very easy to pierce through the other side so just like that i leave a nice thin layer and you guys see that's that's a little trick you can do and then it leaves some of the bloodline in there as well i don't know what i'm gonna make but i know it's gonna be good i'll catch you guys in the kitchen if you guys made it this far and are enjoying this video please like the video it's free it helps me out and then i can create better content for you guys because i know what you guys like even though i'm telling you to like the video so what we got right here is this is part of the shoulder piece of the yellow jack and i cut it into strips and when i do okay i like to do it into cubes around such size but you are the master of your own poke bowl this is the size brick and i like like i told you it is a textbook fish to work with raw it's nice and firm very mild in flavor no bloodline and it just screams excellent fish toss our yellow jack in we're going to do a little marinade starting with just a little bit of mayo i'm not making spicy mayo but i do want it to be a little rich so i'm going to add a little cupi koopie some soy sauce this is really just enough to cover our fish we need some acidity in there rice vinegar this is our aromatic pure sesame oil about a tea not even like a quarter of a teaspoon of that stuff and then you gotta do some heat can't go wrong with some sriracha this is what we ended up with you don't need a lot we're basically just flavoring our fish so it's not gonna be plain put in your diced yellow jack and you could do this with salmon tuna wahoo african pompano snapper group or any firm fish we're going to give it a toss this is the square section of the shoulder piece of the yellow jack this is what we're going to use for the sear so get yourself a little plate like this or something that's big enough to fit your fish i'm going with all black sesame seeds and now we just coat our fish in the black sesame and it's going to be ready for searing super hot nonstick pan sesame oil this stuff is going to smoke real quick you don't need a lot already flipping 15 seconds later you really just want to barely cook the outside [Music] you guys see how that is barely cooked and even when you take it off the heat it's going to continue to cook a little bit but you want that raw middle now we cut you need a real sharp knife for this otherwise it will fall apart on you and so far it's stained together beautifully another important thing is to make sure you do this with really cold fish when you put it on the heat that fish was has been in the fridge and this is a dexter sashimi knife i'm going to have it linked below for you guys if you want to check it out relatively inexpensive knife because sashimi knives can be super expensive now here we go some of our yellow jack that's been marinating in the fridge some of your avocado some of your radish some cucumber okay now how about we sprinkle it all with a little bit of bricky's homemade home-grown scallions i guess it would be homemade wouldn't it go in with some black sesame on top of your rice and your fish have your seared yellow jack okay and then we finish off with a little bit of our salad sprinkle with some red onion with the homemade ginger carrot dressing and that's it i mean i think it's aesthetically pleasing it sure as heck is healthy i can tell you that that dish right there is probably at the most 400 calories you're eating fresh caught fish in a very unique way you get your veggies in and i think it's delicious and i cannot wait to enjoy it with my bait let me see what are you doing over here are you shaving your chopsticks up i've never done this before but i remember last time everyone said that you're supposed to do that for what so you don't get splinters in your mouth i can promise you i have never or known anyone who's gotten a splinter well i broke this one really bad like look at that you guys comment below if you've ever got a splinter from a chopstick i'm very suspect of that i've i've never heard of that well last time we used these everyone was like over there going like this and i'm like what are you doing they're like you never do that and i was like no i've never done that [Music] i want to hear it what would you go in for first seared seared so delicious i know it's probably not possible because there's over 500 000 of you guys but a dream of mine i think about this all the time is to find a way to be able to cook for as many people as possible not like a restaurant just like i have a day where you know i got people like james and brick and i and just we just spent the whole day cooking for you guys and something exotic like a bull shark or something i think it'd be kind of neat to share it with you guys you know i got to do wasabi on my sear i'm a big wasabi guy you got it so good yeah we've been craving like a good sushi tuna night or something i know and this is like satisfied is that yeah it satisfies it kind of satisfies that craving with this we were out there trying to catch tuna we've been i mean we craved tuna all the time and we could not get it done there we go with a little bit of the seared got the wasabi on there never had seared yellow jacket before i like the syrian better than spicy um cocaine i'm saying i like the poke more you do yeah pretty awesome elaborate dinner for a simple fish and a simple day of fishing yeah well not really simple since we spent all day trying to catch fish but it's done so i want to thank you guys so much for watching we're going to go ahead and enjoy our dinner none of this would be possible without you guys i want you to remember that and i seriously want to thank you so uh until the next one see ya bye
