First Time Drifting Compound Gets Spicy!

today we are finishing the last few things to get the corvette comp ready for tomorrow and i'm going to be drifting the compound for the very first time i have the trailer with my corvette and it has a fresh new alignment from our friend eric if you guys are ever in the oviedo area go ask for eric at pep boys he's right next to the wawa i'm really excited to drive the corvette with the alignment on it and it's caged now so the whole car is going to be slightly stiffer got some fresh kumo tires mounted up on my new heritage wheels as well so i'm stoked still got a few more things to do but it's gonna be an awesome day also right now we're getting ready for my first celsius photo shoot i got my celsius team gear on it is so comfortable and i love it i've been obsessed with celsius and their drinks for years now i actually worked with celsius a bit in my rallycross racing days back even when like the tans were branded differently so i'm very excited to officially announce that i we finished up the photo shoot and from the photo shoot chris went straight to the airport big sad look what showed up got another kumo tire delivery this is my go-to ps91 compound that i've been drifting on for over a year now almost 100 percent of my drifting seat time has been on this compound it's the tumor tire ps91 i absolutely love it but there is something different about this order that i just received if you look a little closer i looked at the size what these babies are 275. all my seat time has been on there to 65 35 18 and i just placed an order for the next level up which is their 275 35 18. i'm not sure if i'm gonna throw on the 275s for the tomp that is tomorrow 275 from 265 isn't gonna be a huge huge difference but especially if i'm chasing any slower cars i don't want to worry about straightening even more with more drips so i might just save all these for the next chat day and definitely for clutch stickers coming up it's not a secret anymore i'm going to be [Music] foreign we actually did find another spacer it's like a 7 or 10 mil so i have full angle now we adjusted the bum stops accordingly adam helped me get the top belts in and we are set this is technically your first time drifting at the compound other than the donuts i think we're gonna have sean drive my z and then i'm gonna ride on the car with her and kind of give her some feedback on tandeming [Applause] that was good normally i wouldn't like you handbraking like so much because it's gonna slow you down in the chase however if you make a habit of that it's a kind of a good thing with this car because it'll prevent you from straightening on transition i want you to go and do that same exact lap but i want you to try to slow down the whole entire lap and try to keep your foot on the brake as much as you can lightly and pour it on to kind of add angle and go through the same thing [Applause] so was beautiful you slowed down your whole lap by like probably three seconds yeah i love like you've kept it on transition too which is very like it takes some balls to do that that was great [Applause] [Music] you good to lead you good man [Applause] [Applause] all right so let's let's walk through everything okay entry you were good you you entered at a safe distance you could have ended a little closer but that was great for your first time i was happy with it you didn't need to left foot break that hard in the beginning i understand it's just you're getting used to tandem okay the biggest thing i want you to focus on key to you winning the competition is transition timing okay so you want to try to time it so when he swings you swing with him that's going to naturally make you cut the corners a little bit so just be mindful of that you need to keep wheel speed with this car you either need to be on handbrake or wheel speed [Applause] much much better just be mindful if he straightens just keep an eye and be ready you might have someone with a car mechanical issue this car could go into limp mode so could any car there so just be mindful of your competitor this car went to lip mode that's what he strained yeah it hit the it hit the bumper the wheel looks okay it's got a tiny little scuff but nothing bad i'm sorry yeah i literally told her before i was like be ready because you don't know if your competition's gonna have a car issue and it happens you did exactly what you should have done i was super sorry no no you're fine he literally told me right before it's all good it was you did great i honestly i was going to say oh man get on gas sooner get on gas sooner i'm glad you didn't yeah hold on just for that good are you good [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] his car's faster you're gonna have to drive a little bit more confidence don't let foot break as much try to your entry was good good distance don't be afraid to kind of use momentum roll up and be neck and neck with them because that's how you can be calm [Music] [Applause] [Applause] that transition was amazing great timing you timed it perfectly when you see that footage you're gonna be really impressed with yourself that last corner though you just need to have confidence to stay on throttle okay [Applause] um [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] oh [Applause] [Music] [Applause] uh his car is a lot faster than yours that's part of the reason he's got more grip than you my work here is done i'm very happy with your progress i don't want you to hurt your car your power steering's hot you're running low on gas that was amazing progress [Music] [Music] that was awesome definitely had to knock some rust off and i do feel a lot better in the car still just really good chasing and tandems is a whole new category for me and something that i'm excited to be working on but it is new so being able to practice here at the compound is awesome did have a little run in with the z when it went into limp mode and train our first corner here but luckily i really only got this bumper which i need an actual wide body bumper anyway so this isn't that big of a deal it did nick this lug nut right there just a little bit and the wheel oh and the wheel a little bit right here but that's fine because i'm gonna prep the wheels for paint anyway so any stuffs like that i can sand down before i paint them later on we did find out something i have a power steering leak now i started to hear the power steering when i was driving and i thought maybe it was just low but unfortunately it is leaking all right got her inside let's assess this power steering situation okay stop yeah there's a very very big leak i probably have close to no power steering fluid left in there i'm back at the house so you can guess what that means that means that vet is not getting fixed tonight um it's a bad lead it's a very very bad leap it's almost comical ironically and annoyingly it is the line that i have not replaced so i replaced both the hard lines that go to the rack itself and i even almost ordered the high pressure lines but just didn't and it's currently 10 p.m drivers meeting is like at seven in the morning and everything's over for the street class that i'd be driving in by noon um it's just not worth it it's not like there's a lot of track time tomorrow i am really bummed i wanted to throw myself into the mix and compete tomorrow morning it sucks but you know what that is why you shake cars down that is why i am so thankful that i got to drift here at the compound because this would have happened at the track tomorrow after getting ourselves there and getting all hyped up for an event it's a bummer it's definitely fixable it's just about a two to three hour job making sure it's done right and i need to order the part i'm so done with power steering issues on the vet and i should have replaced them earlier so that is on me but at least we know the issue is as of right now my first official comp looks like it will be clutch kickers round three luckily there is a practice day the day before that so that's going to be huge in boosting my confidence that is it for this video and i will see you guys in the next one [Music] I like collette but there is no way she is ready for an event like klutch kickers. Shes never been in competition let alone following in a serious tandem. I know she has to please her sponsors but she has no seat time. Good luck to her. I hope I’m wrong.

Schulman 2.0 was scared he was going to get yelled at for crashing 2 of the cars even though it wasn't his fault.
