[Music] this is the phaser detector it's located in the LHC tunnel 500 meters away from the atlas experiment [Music] Visa looks at particles produced in the proton proton collisions inside Atlas specifically it focuses on low mass particles that are produced along the direction of the proton beams as these particles Decay they produce among other things very high energy neutrinos these neutrinas will continue along a straight line unaffected by the magnetic fields guiding the proton beams around the LHC ring and by the rock between Atlas and phaser the neutrinas can then be detected by phaser when they interact within a 1.1 tonne block of tungsten positioned in front of the detector for immune neutrino such an interaction would produce among other particles a high energy muon that can be detected in the tracking system of phaser foreign foreign [Music] and I wanted to show you the beta lab where we built the detector before we installed it into the LHC just for fun life afraid it's a huge mess here but this is the area where we built laser before we put it into the tunnel so in fact this metal plate you see here is what we built a mock-up of the detect run in 2020 and 2021 and then we took it from here into the LHC tunnel to install in the experimental locations [Music] and so this really means that we're sure now there's 16 standard deviation 16 Sigma is such a high level that we're really certain that what we see are neutrinos interact in our detector that are being produced in the LHC Collision so for the first time we've observed these glided instruments this is a actual prototype for the broadcast system indicator experiment so we checked the mechanics electronics and something everything in this room and the install the detector in the tunnel and is successfully our achievement this time [Music]
