for this we also have a new rating we call it the sexy rating and if you just look at this sexy sexy rating not so sexy sexy rating sexy sexy rating not so sexy now a lot of you are asking what the hell does the sexy rating have to do with anything [Music] hey everybody james here at inside endura man we got two killer bikes here 21 sureco factory edition 21 ktm xcw tpi the ghost if you can get one two incredible bike platforms new kid on the block knocking on the door the old guard we're gonna do a little walk around these are both essentially right off the showroom floor haven't really done anything however on the sureco it did come with a really nice skid plate we've replaced it with even a batter mammoth jammer with full linkage protection other than that these bikes are as you'd see them rolling out of the shop so let's go on with the ktm let's see what this bad boy has so hey first we're going to talk about the ktm tpi i have hundreds and hundreds if not a thousand plus hours on the tpi tpi has some great things i was initially on the tpi train you put some oil in here you put some gas in here and off you go you really don't have any spillage from a carburetor when you tip it it's more like a four stroke however if you want to share gas with your buddies that's tough unless you know you can pick the bike up and hold it upside down or you like to siphon and drink gas that's a whole nother subject with it pretty much stock you guys have been around ktms you have the wp inverted forks you've got cast aluminum triple clamps we've got kind of your stock seat pretty smooth kind of gender ambiguous you've got the unit for your hours distance trip meters low fuel light oil light etc oil light's nice you need that with the tpi as we all know electric start other than that you're not ski you're not getting a skid plate uh pretty minimal on the back end you're running at 81s front and back not a lot of people love the front the at81 on the back the standard has always been a really solid tire one nice thing with the ktms if you don't trade these out for radiator protectors you have these polycarbonates that give a fair amount of protection in the pinch most of us replace these but if you don't these are still pretty tough typical hand guards with the styling i don't know where the style went but it's pretty bland there's not a lot there but there you go at least they silk screen these on but hey a lot of people won't run after market graphics anyways as you roll around the bike tail light you have a ktm exhaust wp shock and then pretty much their pipe uh this has been kind of a new introduction this ribbed for his and her pleasure um it's got kind of a reduced profile on it to make to give you a little bit of uh relief from smashing rocks but other than that that's about it with the 21 ktm as we know it runs the tpi system it's the only one running a true fuel-injected system we'll cover that more in depth but cosmetically let's look over the sureco all right now looking at the sureco 21 factory edition i don't know you may want to wear sunglasses because there's a little bit more going on here so with the factory edition you're getting a little more pep with just the overall finish you've got graphics factory graphics factory graphics kyb suspension i mean you can't just not notice that rod right off the front it's one of the most premier systems that's ever been designed right out of the box valve correctly ready to go as you back off of that it's kind of hard not to notice the cnc black nikken triple clamps also black sexy frame hard not to see electric blue it's kind of got a luster to it as we come down to the rims not just your standard rims you have takasago excels in black always in style as you come across if you look at the exhaust this is purely stock value man value you have a gold series gnarly fmf that comes stock on your bike comes with a fan stock ktm does not come with a fan what we're seeing here people is value in value and hey by the way if you think this is valuable and you want to see more please hit the thumbs up and subscribe on youtube it really gets a channel out to other people and we'd appreciate it so as we move forward a blue seat sexy blue seat italian gripper quick connect thing pops off there's your air box everything's accessible pretty sweet comes with a spanky pad it comes with a mapping swift switch stock you got hey it's muddy hey i want to get rad gotta like that blue french tickler style these are new they're a little rough be prepared as we go towards the back we have the kyb shock to match the kyb forks again incredible system we have this factory exhaust system with the carbon tip i don't know if it's plastic or carbon actually but it really looks cool we've got full protection on the frame from the bottom all the way up to the top which is pretty nice you can see our slick skid plate it comes with a black one that's really good axp really good quality does not come with the linkage protection though so we added that solid rear rotor brembo brakes just like on the ktm we walk around to the back of the bike you can see the takasaga rims you've got the new enduro michelin 140 enduro tires which are a little more fitted for your more extreme your more technical terrain anodized rear sprocket comes stock burly foot pegs i haven't been able to destroy one of these in 45 hours of riding that's a testament v-force reads stock for the key and carb graphics are laminated factory graphics do not peel off tpis have definitely got better from 18 there was an improvement in 19 and i think there was a substantial improvement from 19 to 20. still and i think most people out there agree they don't have it completely dialed in yet they blame it they blame it on schedule four european emissions i don't know all i do know is you cannot tune these you cannot change the idle they have an idle screw as all of you know that just opens the butterfly it doesn't change the fuel mixture and the thing usually if you turn up the idle via that method it fails in the mid-range not so cool so all in all the tpi has worked reasonably well if you're someone who just wants to put the gas in put the oil in and forget about it and get down the trail and you're really not requiring super hard work out of the bike they can they can work okay but where they fall flat is when you need more out of them you need more horsepower out of them you need more performance out of them they're just simply not tunable with the lack of tunability it's kind of a bummer you're really stuck with what you got and we've had so many of these bikes in the same year that some bikes run different than other bikes in the tpi same model we've had four 20 20 300 xcw ktms they all run a little bit differently there's the favorite one and you really can't explain that it just happens and you're stuck with it with whatever you have some of you can go down the route of the get ecu we did that on one bike twelve hundred dollars get ecu race kit everything fancy you can geek out change the air fuel mixtures on your phone but at the end of the day you can't even change the idle on that and that's a problem a lot of them when you're going downhill even if you're not using the rear brake they like to stall and on top of it the gas mileage as well not great not great at all a lot of us have been surprised how little you get out of a tank of gas they actually made the tanks smaller because the tpi was supposed to be more efficient and to me this hasn't been realized so we will go look into the sherco and see what they're doing as far as the engine fuel management system so initially with the sureco they're still running a kian carbureted system and i'd been on the tpi and worked with the tpi so much i was obviously really frustrated on what we could do with it to make it run better and initially i thought oh man you know back back to the old back to a carburetor but i think it's important to keep in mind that a lot of things have changed yes this has a carburetor and there's been bikes for decades that have carburetors that work well however the difference is when you have an electronic power valve and you have a fully computerized ecu that runs that timing and management all of a sudden it really changes the tunability and the capability of these carbureted bikes and to me it's really starting to grow in my mind as a renaissance of the tunability and what you can do with these bikes these bikes are completely opposite of the tpi their platform you can plug in with a common diagnostic tool that any of your dealers have shoot i think you could even buy them yourself and plug it in and change all your mapping delivery all of those systems to get the bike running to where you want to run it and also with the carburetor and we just did on one of our youtube on our youtube channel how to adjust the jetting is it's not that big of a deal it's not that complex and i think we've all kind of become afraid of it and then people oh i don't have to mix fuel well all of a sudden at least i've changed in the fact that like hey if i can have a bike that does what i want it to do and it has that much tunability i am more than happy to mix fuel i am more than happy to change jet once in a while so we're really liking this we're going to do a little more in depth of how we do the mapping and we'll go from there what's up guys so i'm going to show you how to reprogram these ecu's on these surecos [Music] today [Music] [Applause] [Music] here's where it's plugged in so that's where it's plugged into the bike and this is the program oh wait hold on i'm sorry guys just getting ready for the weekend let me exit out of that okay all right so the first step is to go to the sureco network and you go to technical information and this is where you download the new fuel injection maps so i'm going to go right here pull up the new injection map for the 300 ser 2021 and hit download so that will download and then what you have to do is open up the shurco app so that's another thing you have to download and at first it will not be in english but you can change that so here we go to the diagnosis tab and click on sureco select the bike you are using two-stroke and there's a few different options so we go down to ecu updating and update ecu now the bike is all plugged in correctly so we check yes and then it pulls it up so here's where i i select the downloaded program so you want to make sure you select the right one that you downloaded and from there it'll just load it on the bike so it's a pretty simple process we're not going to get too in-depth we're just going to throw the new map on today and call it good matt you photos so well get out of my face so for this we also have a new rating we call it the sexy rating and if you just look at this sexy sexy rating not so sexy sexy rating sexy sexy rating not so sexy now a lot of you are asking what the hell does the sexy rating have to do with anything sexy not so sexy sexy not so sexy let's just be honest being sexy matters i'm sure some of us have picked a girlfriend just because she was sexy but she sucked and you couldn't stand anything she said but you're still there how about people you know who've gotten married because someone was initially sexy now they're like a coyote trying to chew their own arm off so hey sexy and the great thing about bikes if you pick a bike because it's sexy it has resale and when you sell it it doesn't take 70 of your it's a good deal again that's value this information is valuable and if you find this type of information valuable again hit the thumbs up and subscribe [Music] you
