of you to first baptist on gresham road god has certainly been good to us he has brought us from a mighty long way and sometimes that mighty long way is just waking us up in the morning amen allowing us to be in our right minds clothes on our backs can we just give god some praise for that amen amen amen we're grateful grateful to god so we're so grateful i'm glad to see mama mildred ray online watching us this morning latissa mcclendon glad to see you online this morning so many others thank you all so much glad to have these preachers with us this morning amen glad to have reverend brother many others who are grieving and going through uh let's just continue to keep one another covered and pray you don't ever know you'll ever know what your neighbor might be going through amen uh so grandmother's my daddy's mama's birthday today august 22nd amen i never got a chance to meet her in the past in 1974 but i'm gonna give her a shout out from heaven amen my grandma vivian thomas her birthday is today amen so we want to uh just praise god for that and we are grateful for the memories uh glad to see the arasana family amen uh they just got married come on let's give them a hand glad y'all stand up stand up give them come on y'all give them a hand amen congratulations to you all amen congratulations god bless you all and of course i want to continue to wish the polite family uh they celebrated 40 years of marriage on uh yesterday come on let's get a polite family hand 40 years of marriage isn't that a blessing amen amen some are still praying through five years they made them 40 years amen but we thank god thank god for them and what a blessing it is to be able to celebrate with them listen i'm going to ask you for what we're going to have a quick word of prayer and we'll get right into the message this morning let's buy his father we thank you so much thank you for this day thank you for the many blessings you bestowed upon us for waking us up giving us clothes shelves and food allowing us to see the dawn of a brand new week you didn't have to do it but for whatever your reason is you bless us with another day and we say thank you i pray now that you have your way that you speak directly to your people those who are here those who are watching online those who may see it later i pray that you give them a word that will be instant and in season have bedside baptist come on come on tangent amen amen jeremiah the first chapter verses four and five and this morning we'll be reading from the king james version it is mama lewis it says this it says in the word of the lord came unto me saying before i formed thee in the belly i knew thee and before thou came this forth out of the womb i sanctified thee and i ordained thee a prophet unto the nations come on the one let's read that one more time it says in the word of the lord came unto me saying before i form thee in the belly comments casein uh i knew thee and before thy came this forth out of the womb i sanctified thee and i ordained the sister logan the prophet unto the nations i want to talk very briefly from the subject this morning why you should answer the call why you should answer the call come on serena why you should answer the call why should you answer the call brothers and sisters all of us each of us has a calling on our lives i'm gonna say that one more time each of us has a calling on our lives god has called all of us to do something uh now we have to be very careful very cautious lindsay not to think that everybody's calling is the same calling god has not called everybody to do the exact same thing god has called each of us to service but it does not mean that each of us has the exact same calling all of us have a calling from god what is a calling in the first place it is a purpose for which god has brought you into the world is a a reason that you live it is the um the purpose that god has for your life it is an assignment that god has given you has given me has given us that we are to carry out while we're here on this earth and how many of us understand that none of us is a mistake i'ma say that one more time none of us is a mistake and i say it is uh because the word none is not one not one is let me get y'all straight on your english real quick not one is a mistake none of us is a mistake because god has placed us on this earth for a specific purpose let me let me help you now mom and daddy may not have wanted to have you at that particular time y'all didn't hear me real good they may not have planned you you may have come at an inopportune time for your parents come on somebody come on prom night babies come on uh honey moon baby y'all not talking with me y'all got real quiet let me call you out come on somebody who said uh this was a mistake i wasn't planning on having a a baby at the age of 40. y'all pray for me i wasn't planning on having this baby this soon or this fast well it may have been an oops for you but you were never in oops for god god knew exactly when you were to be born he knew the appointed time he knew the right parents he knew all of that he took into consideration all of the human mistakes that we could make and said that's a perfect condition to bring you into the world in fact jesus himself was born to a virgin by the name of mary she had not been with her fiance but god decided it was the right time to bring a savior into the world named jesus christ every last one of us is born for a purpose and the only way that we can find our purpose in life is to connect with the person who created you in the first place the only way that you can find test your purpose in this life is to connect with the person who created you it's not going to come from oprah winfrey y'all not praying with me today it's not going to come from uh some of the classes that you may take it's not going to come from from trying to to diagnose yourself and say this is what i want to do in life god is the only one who can tell you specifically what you are called to do and what your purpose is here on this earth some of us run from god we say we don't want to connect with god i want to do my own thing i want to make plenty of money so we go out and and go on ventures and say this this uh particular job is going to bring me certain amount of money this is the type of lifestyle i want to live i want to have this much money in our bank but sometimes when god calls you it has nothing to do with your money it has nothing to to do with the car you drive what neighborhood you live in what kind of pedigree you grew up in it does not matter god has called you for a specific purpose and it may have nothing to do with you looking like you rich i know it's gonna get quiet today come on online folk i hope y'all praying with me today so why should you answer the call god has on your life why should you do what it is that god has called you do because everybody is called to do something big power we just got to find out what it is why should i answer the call on my life some are called to preach some are called to teach y'all not praying with me uh some are called to do hair come on somebody i i i know that there are some anointed uh cosmetologists around here to fix up some of our heads the way they come on y'all gotta pray with me there there are some people in every area god has called some to be doctors god has called some to be counselors god has called some to be musicians god has called each of us to do something and the only way that we'll find out what our calling is is connect with the person who created us in the first place so what do i do what do i do what do i do you know understanding why i should answer the call come on let's run through it real quick cause i told you i'm gonna be out of here uh real quick i'm not gonna take a whole lot of your time come on reba up there in richmond virginia how do i answer the call why should i answer the call number one write this on your outline number number one the first reason that you should answer the call come on miss murders cook number one is you you have to understand that god has appointed you here this is barbara williams bernadette tamara god number one has appointed you there was a prophet in the bible by the name of jeremiah god in jeremiah the first chapter goes over the calling of jeremiah's life and here it is brothers and sisters he talks to jeremiah and says jeremiah i have called you to a specific purpose in your life there's something that i've set you aside to do and i want you to understand uh what your calling is because sometimes we get confused in our lives we think that we are called to make money we think that we are called to satisfy ourselves and to make ourselves rich and become fat on all the stuff that we want to do but god said no i didn't call you to do that i called you for my specific purpose number one write this down here it is michelle number one god has appointed you what do you want me to do jeremiah first chapter verse five come on reverend janice it says before i wish i'll catch this now it is alton before i form thee not when you got into your mama not when mama and daddy got together bible says before i form thee come on shirley tucker in the womb before i formed thee in the belly i knew thee before your mama felt a tickle in her belly i wish y'all talked with me before you were the sparkle in somebody's eye but the bible says god said before i formed the unveiling i knew thee so i knew you even before you were inside your mama i had created you even before you came down into this earth god has people right now already living in heaven all they're waiting for is god to say all right it's your time to go down all right it's your time to go down into this group of people of this mama and daddy and come into the earth bible says it right here for formerly in the belly i knew thee and before thy came as forth out of the womb i sanctified thee what does it mean to be sanctified i set you aside i wish y'all talked with me it wasn't when mom and daddy took you over to morehouse or spelman or uga or fort valley it wasn't when mama took you to southwest dekalb or mcnair or or christine elizabeth academy it wasn't when when mom and daddy uh decided they were going to teach you your abcs at the table before you got to school it wasn't then the bible says come on brother being it says before thou came is out of the womb i sanctified thee i'd already set you aside y'all not talking with me and what do you set me aside to do he said and i ordain thee a prophet unto the nations does that mean everybody's a prophet no the point god is making brother ferguson is that god has called us and he knew what our calling was even before we came down from heaven into mom and daddy he had already set us aside to do a specific purpose in this life number one listen god has appointed you he knew your purpose before you were born you may not know your purpose y'all praying with me some of us right now we asked a question i'm not quite sure why i'm here on this earth i don't know what my purpose is i don't know why god created me i'm not quite sure what my purpose is but here is what i'm going to give him give you a clue the closer you are to god the more able you are to hear the voice of god telling you this is what i have assigned you to do and not only the closer you are but the more obedient to god you are the more able you are to hear what god is saying listen god may have told you a long time ago that i want you to do a a specific thing but some of us have pushed god away god ain't doing that that's not prestigious enough that's not going to allow me to take care of my family i want to live on the other side of town i want to drive this type of car you're not praying with me i want to wear these types of clothes i i want to i want to mingle with these types of people i i want to be in this group but god said that's not what i called you to do i brought you here for my purpose and here's what god is trying to tell some of us you are not here to satisfy you you are here to satisfy god you were created by god and here's here listen it is not only you were you created by god you were created for god you created for him not for you oh brothers and sisters what a tough a tough lesson that i've had to learn god had to remind me this ain't about you and you know when god has a call on my life on your life god will give you several opportunities to answer oh y'all not talking to me you don't got quiet on me you give you a chance now you keep saying hey i need you to go and do this and and you know what we do we're not kept we push god i can't uh uh i'm not able to do that i'm i'm not adequate enough to do that i didn't go to the right school i don't i don't speak the right verbiage my language skills my linguistic skills are not as good i don't sing like this person i don't play like this person i don't usher like this person i don't pray like that deacon and i don't i don't principle like that principle i wish i'd praying with me i don't have what everybody else has and god said i'm not worried about what everybody else has i called you for my purposes and until i learned the lesson to say listen you got to stop making excuses about what you can't do and concentrate on what god can do you will never be able to answer the call that god has on your life i bet there's some mothers out here today when you first had that child you didn't know how to be no mother um yeah you you read all the books and you you went to all your what they call lemans classes and then you you you sat up there wait i don't know what you call them clap whatever you call them claps i sat up in there too i don't know what the name of it was i just remember taurus it was on monday and i was missing monday night football but praise the lord i had to be there with my wife i wish i was praying with me but but you we went to the classes and read the books but when that baby is present that baby is crying and you don't drop all the molecules and drops in a stomach that you can and doing everything in your power to get that baby to be quiet it's it's then that you learn that you don't you're not as quiet as prepared as you thought you were hmm it ain't in there tangy baby crying you don't rock the baby you pat the baby back you don't fed the baby you date what your mama said and try to train the baby to get on the schedule that baby say ain't getting on no schedule you'd have done everything in your power i wish y'all praying with me come on coach williams god first lady said been there and don't want to go back bless your heart praise the lord amen god has appointed you god has appointed you and god appointed you before you were even formed in your mama's belly he already had a purpose for your life so we are no longer after today no longer to walk around dr curry saying that you i don't have a purpose in life i don't know why i'm here uh i'm i'm trash i'm an outcast i'm a piece of mess and and no longer are you to hear the echoes of what somebody told you you just like your mama you just like your daddy you sorry you this that no other no you are who god said you are come on come on come on number one number one that was number one come on shell come on shell come i come from this family say not that i was born in the ghetto say not that my family don't have any money say not that i didn't go to this school or that school say not that you don't wear these types of clothes say not that you are inadequate or unable to do what i call here is what god say not y'all listening i am a child for thou shalt go uh to all that i shall send thee he is a reminder god said i'm sending you you're not sending you mom and daddy are not sending you i am sending you says this for thou shalt go to all that i shall send thee and whatsoever i command thee thou shalt speak mama louise you say this verse 8 says be not afraid of their faces if i am with thee to deliver thee saith the lord did you hear what god said you worried about what you can't do in your calling same thing moses did and same thing abraham did and same thing noah did same thing jeremiah did same thing isaiah did same thing uh all the prophets obadiah and and all the prophets they questioned whether or not they could carry out the work that god called them to do have you ever questioned whether you could do what it is that god called you to do y'all y'all praying with me have you ever been concerned god i i don't know if i can do this i remember standing in this pulpit on the first sunday that i was called to be the pastor of first baptist church scared y'all looking at me i'm looking at y'all and i'm saying lord i need you to give me something to give to your people god would have to remind me that's not your church those not your people those my people i'm a all i need you to do is say what i tell you to say and you sit your little self down afterwards i wish y'all talk with me you you you getting so worked up on on your delivery and how you gonna say it and how you gonna do it god said i'm gonna give you the words why because it's my calling i called you to it i'm gonna give you what to say and if you are obedient i will bless the church but if you walk in disobedience if you try to sound like this preacher over there or that preacher over there or try to hoop like this person or try to sing when i ain't give you the anointing to sing if you try to do something other than what i called you to do that's when you fail you just do what i call you doing you sit down i'll do the rest follow my lead and i would will tell you exactly what to do what to how to do it how to say it how to work with people i'll tell you but if you step outside of my wheel the church is gonna stand and i'm gonna pull you out whoa y'all not praying with me here oh no it ain't just for the church it's for your family too as long as you are doing the will of god god said i'll bless your family i bless your job i bless everything you do but if you get out of my will when doing something that i called you to do i'm going to pull you out i'll remove you i know you think you're bad but i move your behind out of that i know you think you got connections i know you did you know this person in in at that office and you know this board member and you know that person it don't matter how big and bad you get once you step outside the will of god you are messing with god's purposes for your family for your church for your school i wish y'all prayed with me for your job you can't mess with god's purposes i said i'll pull you out of there so fast you won't know what happened let me go through this real quick come on i gotta get y'all get y'all through it it is kim zachary notice what jeremiah says jeremiah says then said i o lord god behold i cannot speak for i am a child children your age has nothing to do with whether or not you can answer the call that god has on your life hmm you feel god called you to do something you got to get up and do it no matter how young you are and listen sometimes age has nothing to do with the how many years you've lived sometimes we are spiritually immature y'all not praying with me so so god said it sometimes it don't happen you don't have to be able to preach like that person and pray like this that person sometimes we look at our spiritual immaturity and we say god i can't do this god said ain't got nothing to do with with your age or your spiritual age it's whether or not i called you to do it here's what god said but the lord said unto me say not i am a child for thou shalt go unto all that i shall send thee and whatsoever i command thee thou shalt speak when you are doing god's work he gives you the lesson plan yeah this god had to remind me he said listen you you get nervous when you when you write down all this stuff for your sermon that's that's your problem he said preach the word i already got i already got what people need you give them the word hmm you need your education now but he said preach the word are y'all praying with me and when god called you to do something he's telling you preach the word give give my word uh give them what i tell you to give them in your classroom i wish y'all praying with me give them what i tell you to give them on your job give them what i say i wonder if there are any folks in here who can testify that there are times on your job then you don't know what in the world you doing let me let me rephrase that are there some honest people in here who can bear witness to the fact that there are times on your job in your family in your church that you don't know what you're doing and you have to ask god god please show me how to handle this situation anybody out of hell a sickness hit your family and you say god i need you to guide me through this situation i don't know how to deal with this i've never had this happen before you ever had a financial situation in your family where you were broke either you had to pay this or you were going to be broke for the real i wish i was praying with me for the rest of the week and you had to make a decision and god said listen here's what i want you to do i wonder if there's some honest folk in here who've had moments in your life daphne where you did not know what you were supposed to do your child started acting crazy lord i don't beat them half the death i don't know what else to do hmm done beat him out and tased him out and did everything online don't y'all don't y'all take that down don't don't do that i don't know everything that i thought i was supposed to do come on now and yet my child's still acting crazy and sometimes god said listen you you did what you knew how to do i'm just waiting on you to ask me what to do i wish y'all praying with me i i just been waiting i i see you down there uh uh trying your best on your job i see you down there trying to call your hookups in the county off i see you doing all that stuff but god said now i'm wait i'm gonna i'm gonna cancel all that this time it worked the last time but this time i'm not gonna let your hook up work you're gonna have to hook up with me you're going to have to get guidance from me so that i can direct you i wonder if there are any married folk woo i knew we're going to get quiet in this church today you didn't know how to reach your husband or your wife hmm you did everything you knew how you done watched every seminar you could uh you you don't talk to this pastor you don't go into this counseling and then you know you say i guess as a last resort i'll go to god and god said that's your problem you made me the last resort when you should have come to me first are y'all praying with me and and god's solution was simple husband and wife uh it was real simple meet their knees and close your mouth woo y'all got quiet on that one just be quiet you trying to fight you trying to fight your wife you trying to fight your husband and god said just keep your mouth closed and follow my instructions hmm start trying to strong-arm your wife or strong-arm your husband sometimes you gotta just shut your mouth and do what god told you to do whoa i knew it was gonna get quiet in this presbyterian baptist church i knew y'all gonna be quiet today yeah you gonna make your your wife or your husband do what you want to do give them ultimatum either you do this or i'm done and then you sitting over there crying cause they say okay you done i'm done you know i'm booked up on them you doing all right i'm out of here and you don't broke down crying you you laying out in the flow lord please bring them back well you got to be careful how you deal with your wife or your husband look at online they're like lord have mercy come on come on come on francis johnson come on reba here it is deborah haynes you're calling now your calling means that you submit to god's will for your life not your will it has nothing to do with your age and here's here it is before i get number three you got to be very careful now about letting other people discourage you from doing what god called you to do how do i know that bible says it right here watch this uh a rhythm devil it says be not afraid in verse 8 it says be not afraid of their faces but i am with thee to deliver thee saith the lord sometimes when you do god's work they're going to going to be some other people who will make some faces because you are doing the work god called you to do you know what they ask you uh brother outside they're gonna ask you who do you think you are what qualifies you you you grew up in decatur too you're not as educated as this person you're not as good as this person you don't know everything that that person knows and sometimes they will you can be sitting in meetings and when you're talking folk are making faces because they despise you for no reason they're scoffing at you and and and growling underneath they're mad because they feel that they should be in the position that you're in and you got to remind people no i may not be as qualified no i may not be as skilled no i mean i have all the stuff you got but what i do have is a calling by god and that calling by god will usurp any human position or authority that man can put in place so he did they can't stop you rem janice you should answer the call because god has appointed you secondly god will assure you he'll remind you everything's gonna be all right here's number three i'm done i say serena god will anoint you kim god will anoint you look what happened now jeremiah angie jeremiah head head said i can't do this because i'm too young i don't speak well i'm limited look at what god did write it down number three god will anoint you verse 9 says then the lord put forth his hand he was here brother brown and touch my mouth you see that little one and the lord said unto me behold i have put my words in thy mouth y'all not talking with me today huh i anointed you what does it mean to anoint it means that god has given you he gives you the power to do the work that god has called you to do hmm you got to be anointed set aside and call by god given the power to do what it is there are certain things that i'm i'm terrible in outside of my anointing are y'all praying with me paperwork i'm not anointed to do paperwork are y'all praying with me sitting in long meetings i don't have that anointing to sit in long beach come on come on miss c come on miss miller there there are times if you sit me down in a meeting too long i'm automatically gonna go to sleep i don't have that anointing come on daddy i believe i got that from my daddy come on somebody amen in fact if i preach too long daddy gonna be gone anointed there are certain things that you may not be anointed to do can i be honest i'm not anointed to be a mother god didn't annoy me to be a mother there's a special anointing to be a mother um come on digging davis this is monica there's a there's a special sis barnett there's a special anointing that comes with being a mother god gives i believe an extra dose of love an extra dose of patience are y'all praying with me some some teaching skills and some some counseling skills there's a there's an extra there's an anointing for that that that not every man has i look at look at my wife and look at the mothers in the family i say lord amber i don't know how you do it hmm you got food on in the kitchen you got this one you're trying to get in the shower and dog need to be fair with y'all praying with me other baby don't ran upstairs somewhere and and this one upset because they they didn't they can't find socks and and and and daddy daddy got a whole different anointing you better beat me in the car by by 8 30. i don't want to hear about nothing i don't care about your socks you better bring something if you got mismatched socks you better be in my car i'm leaving at 8 30. and if you ain't there that's your behind that's again that ain't the anointing i wish y'all praying with me are y'all talking with me god has given mama's a different kind of anointing and she said baby let me help you find your everything's going to be all right stop crying here let me go get the grits here you get you some grits and here you take your shot you can't find a soul look under there and get the soap she going through all this stuff 8 30 be in the car i don't care if you staying okay make sure you in the car by 8 30. you got on one boot and one flip-flop be in my car a high heel and a flat tinge i don't care what you what you got going on be in the car by 8 30. but god gives an anointing i wish y'all praying with him come on come on back with me god gives an anointing to each person and if you don't have the anointing you can't compare your anointing to somebody else's anointing you have to allow people to work in their anointing now if i come with my daddy anointing and try to try to overtake her mother anointing guess what it's going to cause some confusion so i have to let my wife work in her anointing she has to let me work in my anointing and then when everybody's working in the anointing everything will fall into place and that's the lesson that each of us has to learn in life it's a matter of finding out what god called you to do do it to the best of your ability and let god get the glory are y'all praying with me what god does when we're not
