okay it is day 151 of 20124 and Tor fleece is just around the corner hi I'm Sarah from Green goat Ranch maker of fluffy fibers and consumer of nerdy fandoms welcome to my channel whether you're a seasoned spinner or new to the craft Tor flee offers an excellent opportunity for you to challenge yourself connect with other people and Unleash Your creativity so what exactly is torta flee it's a fun spinal that coincides with the tour to France cycling race just as cyclists spin their way through challenging terrain Spinners spin their way through fiber aiming to Achieve Personal goals and push their spinning skills to new heights the beginnings of Tor to fleece are a bit ambiguous without their being being a specific person or date that it actually started from what I gather it's been um about like a decade that it's been going on and there's participants now from all over the world which is pretty amazing now most tour to fleece teams approach the event with a competitive Spirit seeing who can spin the longest length who can spin the most ounces or who can make the most intricate yarn some teams pick a theme to go with such as a brand of a spinning wheel or a nerdy fandom and to be on that team you have to spin within you know that genre and while that's well and good my team team mohare for the Dame takes a different approach at team mohare for the Dame we're all about camaraderie and support and personal growth whether you're a season spinner or this might even be your first attempt you're totally welcome on our team spindles Wheels electric Wheels they're all welcome on our team you're also welcome to spin any type of yarn you want whether it's bulky or super fine or single ply or four ply um the sky the limit and we really encourage the creativity so you may be wondering why team mohare for the Dame and not Team Green goat Ranch well when I began my spinning journey and I joined my first hor to fleece team I made fast friends with Christina from wool for the Dame and we began chatting online and then we found out we were lived close to each other we met up and we would spin together and we just became fast friends both Christina and I enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie part of Tor fleece and less so the competitive nature of it so we decided to start our own team that really brought together more a sense of the community of becoming friends with each other and encouraging each other teaching each other new skills and just be being nerdy about fiber together and finding more fiber friends to spin along with so are you ready to join the fun yet to sign up to be on team Mo mohare for the Dame go to the Facebook group or the Rivalry group linked below and introduce yourself that's it that's how you join then spin along with us and post your progress and make some new fiber friends this year's tour to fleece is June 29th through July 21st but wait there's more Jess created a PDF game board to help you keep track of your your tour days it's a fantastic way to track your progress and an extra element of fun to your spinning Journey another aspect of tour to fleece are the challenge days and the rest days just like the cyclists have um certain days that are more challenging to rain and then a couple of rest days along the way the Spinners of Tor to fleece do the same thing so with the with the game board there's room for you to put in your own days that you want to have um I have a vacation so that's part of this and you can color code your progress and it's just a fun way to keep track of how you're doing with tour to fleece with it being July there's a lot of vacation days um I know pretty much every year when my kids were younger they were sick and needed to go to the pediatrician so I don't penalize people for having life happen and I do enjoy that Tor to fleece is 3 weeks long so it gives you room to have life happen but still participate but on team mohare for the Dame I count fiber prep counts washing your hands fun counts um pretty pretty much just have fun and play along and it counts towards your progress It's all about finding your balance between challenging yourself and also self-care and I think the fun game board is a great way to keep track of that so what are you waiting for join team mohare for the Dame today and let's get spinning and celebrate tour to fleece together whether you're spinning for Speed skill or just the sheer enjoyment of it tor to fleece is definitely for you so grab your fiber dust off your wheels and let's get ready to spin together until then your fibers be fluffy and your bobbin full I'll see you in the next one
