what's up guys it's jack from grow jack outdoors and today i'm going to be showing you how i fertilize my watermelons let's get after it so all right like i said i'm going to be showing you how and what i fertilize my watermelons every day so first i'm going to [Music] grab our fertilizer here i'll go my lips i have it marked one gallon two gallons and i've been fertilizing master blend we bought a bunch of it from leon leon's greenhouses he has a youtube channel go check it out he has a lot of knowledge and he's helped me a lot and i got a little coffee can and it's half a teaspoon per gallon and i'm going to put three teaspoons because i have one gallon two gallon i fill all the way up to here and it won't hurt to put a little bit extra in it so i'm gonna set you guys right here we're gonna and i keep a little half a teaspoon in here so i'll put oh i think i said three teaspoons i'm gonna put three half a teaspoons in there one two three it should be good now i'm gonna take this over to the hydrant now i have the timer set up on the whole thing so i'll go ahead and open this valve put it on manual for one minute and it should kick on here in a second [Music] there you go turn it over now i'll just click this off wait until it clicks off and then turn it back to auto there you go now it turns it kind of like a bluish color it's pretty cool so let's go ahead and carry this to our first plant now i'm only going to um fertilize one plant on camera and then i'll do the rest but we'll start with this plant this big plant and it this fertilizer helps it grow a lot and right after we oh that one says dirty right after we fertilize i'll give a whole entire garden update so we'll have a garden update and you'll learn how to fertilize some watermelon plants so now these plants have been getting so big it's kind of hard to find the skunk sometimes it's right there little stump down there and see it it's just rotten leaf a wind see it right there so i'll take my fertilizer thing i'm going to shake it up first so i took our fertilizer jug up and i'll take the lid off i usually have to mix up one or two of these for all the plants because i have one two three four five six seven eight plants so they take a lot of fertilizer stuff is right here sorry to do this with one hand oh i don't think it'll hurt me though because i have wet socks now all right well i got the fertilizer all on there plenty wet and it got it the sprinkler ran at five o'clock this morning so i'm gonna get done fertilizing all the plants and i'll see you when we're doing a garden update all right guys i got done fertilizing the plants now for your guys's favorite part the watermelon update and the watermelons have been growing like crazy and for any of you that were on the live a couple days ago i told you that there one or two of them were weighing about 40 pounds or measuring about 40 pounds start with the first plant first plants looking really good getting bigger by the day there's a watermelon right there i'll show you that here in a second the one thing me and aj have been doing about every day is picking the little watermelons off like that one and just any other ones that we can see every once in a while one grows like this big in like one night like i can see one over there on that plant that we missed yesterday and now it's big so we just have to keep our eyes out and you have to start through all these leaves because you can hide a monster in here and i want to show you guys another thing before we show you the watermelons look how big those that leaf is that's bigger than my whole head that thing's giant all right time for the watermelon i haven't looked at this watermelon today so whoo hey i haven't seen this one today i haven't seen any of them today this is actually first time looking at the watermelons today and this one is growing big i think i bet that's about 30 pounds the thing i'm worried about though is this stem is like on the top i'm worried about it cracking but it's kind of bringing the vine up with it clearly spines out but and these holes i think those are old i have some scars on it but that's a unique looking watermelon another thing is this year i've been getting a lot of weird shaped watermelons that i'm not like this one but i'll show you here in a minute that we would have regularly cold if we weren't so far behind like this next one it's a monster but we would have we would have called it if we weren't so far behind so here's the next plant see two little baby watermelons and we do this so we have one water on and the plants pushing all of its energy into one watermelon so it can get the biggest watermelon that we can hold on let's wait for the semi to go by got a little steamroller on it now this plant is getting bad with this this disease it has it has here this full piece it has this i've been spraying it i need to spray again tonight i may make a video on that sometimes showing you how i spray chemicals and stuff but it's time for you guys favorite part let's see the watermelon this one is one that's been measuring 40 pounds i haven't measured it today and it looks like it grew a lot my shadows covering it here you go it's getting big like this watermelon i was talking about we probably call it but look at that neck it like kind of curves down and it was a lot worse than that if you go back and watch some of the first garden updates it looked a little bit weird but it's starting to fill in and that thing is getting big now i'll probably kind of measure these here in a minute but let's finish the garden update first all right on to the next plant next plant here it is they all kind of intertwine i don't mess with it just let them do their thing and yeah and our watermelon is right here and this is a not one of my seed genetics it's a 192 for huska c genetics and i was really surprised when it was going a long skinny one i i haven't seen the 192 in person but i thought this was definitely one of my long hot dog genetics but here it is whoo look at that thing it's getting giant it's gonna be taller than me by the end of the season and as you can see half of it's hanging off of here i need to come and sketch that back but i only have one hand all right well i'm filming this after i already filmed everything i went to edit and this second watermelon that you just saw well didn't really see is so long and i probably wasn't paying attention that i didn't get it in frame like at all you can like only see the top of the watermelon so here it is make sure it's in frame here it is long fat thing or long and skinny i mean almost taken up a whole shelf already we're underneath your shelves so there it is sorry i didn't do again the first time so back to past jack let's finish the garden update cover it back up and for those of you that don't know what the um cloth is for covering them it's to shave them from the sun and not get them bleached out like i'll show you one that's been out in the sun and i haven't really taken care of this here here in a minute but next plant it's not too big it goes all the way over there yeah there's not really much going on with this plant but there's a watermelon this is one of my seed genetics it's a 170 grow jack that watermelon was a long and skinny one too there's a watermelon not the biggest one but it's really pretty so put it on there cement truck all right the next plant if you might have been watching next plant is the one that got ripped out of the ground that was doing really good and it got set back because it got ripped out of the ground here it is that's fine it's not doing too good but this is the one i was talking about i haven't taken care of look look at the difference from that look at that oh can you guys see look at that compared to that has been covered all year so it makes a big difference i like just keeping them pretty baby and they're babying them they're my babies so oh here's what i was talking about the next plant there's a watermelon and me and aj have competitions we come and pick watermelons that aren't supposed to be on the plants take them and throw them and they they splash everywhere oh here's a little one they're everywhere you just gotta keep your eyes open for little watermelons i come around this backside look for watermelons this is probably one of my biggest plants it's getting really big oh look at that little baby watermelon that one's weird looking all right well i think we have all the watermelons off except this one now this is probably my favorite watermelon yeah i have favorites we have to whisk for that before the other ones hear me so this one's my favorite looking and i think the biggest look at that yes and one thing i learned last year is that the long and skinny genetics aren't very good because they tend to weigh less and my one of my biggest watermelons last year was a long and skinny genetics and one of the guys actually named tony perhuska he told me that it's not very good to have long and skinny genetics and this one is about perfect it's not too long it's just fat and stubby so this is my favorite looking it's bumpy and i don't know if you guys can see that but it's really bumpy and really pretty now comment down below what we should name this one i think i think this one needs to have a name come right back up cover it back up and move on to our next plant it's our last plant with a watermelon and here a little coal that we need oh my gosh okay so can you spot the watermelon look at that that blends in so well ah i'm disappointed that i didn't find that sooner it's all right i'll get that out of here so that doesn't attract bugs here in a minute but oh here's another one dang it here it is boom now this is another one we would probably called it has that same skinny neck and it's long it'll be all right though so there's that this plant's not really too exciting and here's aj's plant that i burnt it's feeling better these leaves are getting yeah those leaves that i burnt are looking a little bit weird but i think it'll recover and here's the slide trying to run away let's get this over here back see that plant's going really big no watermelons on it yet but that's all right well i think what i'm gonna do now is i'm gonna take my tape measure and i'm gonna go around to the three biggest watermelons and i'm gonna measure them and give you the weights and i'm not gonna show you how i measure them that's for another video make make another video on measuring sometime making another video on spraying chemicals sometime we just have to see so i'm going to go ahead and grab my tape measure measure them estimate the weight and i'll tell you here in a minute all right first watermelon we measured was the first one my favorite one and we do over the top you can do some research on that or i think i may have done a video on that it's the same as pumpkins we go over there top enters that i don't know how to say it and then we go around it i'll have to make a video on it more in detail but you add all those measurements up and it equaled 114 so we go to our watermelon estimation chart and it go to inches 114 then we go over to pounds and it equals 46 pounds and it was taping 41 pounds last night so five pounds a night that's not too bad and the night before i think it taped it taped um seven pounds heavier so five to seven pounds a night looks really good so yeah let's move on to the next one i think we're gonna do the one that looks weird and then the long long long one the night then 192 per husky so i'm gonna go tape the long one and then i'll see you when i have the estimations all right guys i think we have a new biggest watermelon i just did over the top on the big long one and let's see it weighed it measured 119. oh we're on the next row 51 pounds yeah halfway to 100 that's the first time i've measured that one 51 pounds our new biggest watermelon for the year is 51 pounds so now i think it's because it's long and skinny that i thought that that one didn't have a chance for weighing that much or taping that much but it it takes 51 pounds so now it's time for this big guy i'm estimating yesterday estimated 40 pounds let me let me try to pick up on it uh i'm estimating 47 pounds all right so i'm gonna tape it and i'll see you here in a minute all right i got it measured and it angled up to 111 inches and that is 42 pounds i only grew two pounds last night huh maybe it just had off night well it grew two pounds it's not i shouldn't say it's not good because two pounds is kind of a lot to grow in one night but for a giant it's not very much so a little disappointed we still have a big watermelon 42 pounds all right i think that's gonna be the end of today's video thank you guys so much for watching the watermelons are growing every day like five to two pounds a day one grew like seven pounds the other day it's crazy so i'm gonna i'm gonna try to keep doing weekly garden updates i don't know how that's gonna go with school it takes me like 30 minutes to come and film these so i'll probably film them after school but let me know if you're enjoying the watermelon updates i know i am watching these watermelons grow like five pounds a day so guys i'm gonna wrap this video up go down there ring notification bell like share and subscribe if you haven't already i'll see you next video [Music] you
