there's a lot of confusion out there about the federal prison custody levels so let's talk about it hey hey what's up everybody shout out to all the law by the criminals out there as always you know what to do this is your first time on the channel and you want to hear more prison stories keep up with news about the world of Corrections across America go ahead and subscribe and click that notification bell so you don't miss anything now as I said in that intro there are a lot of common misconceptions and myths about federal prison and their custody levels basically meaning what security levels there are in the Federal Bureau of Prisons also known as the FBO P so that is what is called it's federal that means it goes from coast to coast in each state you can be housed and no matter where you are from we all know this it's federal jurisdiction but the custody levels are nothing like I hear in some of my comments and like the questions I have had people ask me I've had people say that hey I was on a level five federal prison yard well let me go ahead and tell you there is no such thing as a level five federal prison yard for whoever is making those comments they did not know what they were talking about but that is neither here nor there small disclaimer before I get into this and go ahead and break it down for you guys there are no constants in the BLP even though the vo P is majorly OnPoint with pretty much everything they do there are still some exceptions to the rule as an example a camp in prison typically does not have any fence around it but the prison I was at the FCI the satellite camp that was next to us it had one fence around it so the disclaimer is this even though I know a lot of you have been to federal prison that watching my channel please don't jump in the comments and try to roast me about this this is what is typical what is on the books and how it is supposed to be I do realize that some places do things differently and without further ado let's go ahead and get into it first up we are going to have your FPC this is the lowest custody that you can possibly get in the Bureau of Prisons and FPC just stands for federal prison camp also known be opy as just a camp they typically have no fence a lot of the guys that are inside these camps can go out and work some of them go into the small towns that are surrounding wherever it is they are they typically live in an open bay unit like the one that you see here and they wear green uniforms like the ones that you see right here your FPC's your camps tend to be very very nonviolent your lowest level offenders are here and typically it's ten years and under is the amount of time that you can have and be at a camp because it is so low security they don't have any moves there is nothing restricting your movement at a certain time of the day you do have to be located at the prison and you're not supposed to leave anymore but if you so choose you could get up and walk out of the place your next custody level going up a little bit higher is going to be your fci low now FCI stands for Federal Correctional Institution there are two types of NCIS we will get into the next one here in just a second but this is an FCI low they tend to have only one fits what are over razor-wire at the top they don't tend to have any moves but I have heard of some lows having moves and whenever I say moves I know I just said that about the camp let me tell you what that is it just means that at the top of each hour they will open up the compound for a certain amount of time to let you move and go places but at your camps and your lows there are no moves so it's unrestricted access now at a low you will be behind fences but you can move freely on that compound the way that you want to and they also wear the green uniforms and for the most part live in open bay doors lows for the most part do tend to be somewhat less violent but it still can go down crazy at a low and the reason why they still will send people with twenty years or less to a load and you do have some real gangsters that get to these lows it has been set off at some of these low prisons in the BLP the Hispanics have gone to war with other groups on these compounds so it's nowhere near as laid-back as a camp but for the most part it should be a little less stringent than an F CI or USP which I'm about to get into now moving right on up the ladder your next level of custody is your FCI not to be confused with your FCI low which i just covered FCI Federal Correctional Institution these prisons typically tend to be behind two rows of fences which you can see right here this is pretty much what you see every time you see a prisoner when you think about a prison your FCI's are going to operate off a ten-minute moves for the most part that means at the top of each hour they'll open up the yard for ten minutes you can go you can come go wherever you need to be but for the rest of the time it's going to be locked down your FCI's will have metal detectors because it goes down at FCI's you have a lot of riots you have stabbings you have killings these things go on now what changes majorly coming from your camps and your lows up to the FCI's you don't wear the green uniform anymore now you're wearing khakis like you see me in right here in this picture the other major change is that you're going to be in a two-man cell like this one you're not going to be in that open bay unit you're going to get some more privacy because they know at these FCI's and up things are getting a little bit more crazy so men need their privacy and they need to have their a long time so to cap that two rows of fence top to bottom razor wire you're gonna wear khakis you're gonna have your ten-minute moves gonna have metal detectors and you're gonna live in a two-man cell at the FCI now the next level up is called a USP which just stands for United States penitentiary now this is the top of the top as far as general population goes this is the highest custody that there is and as you can see from this picture here this is the front facade of your USP Atlanta now classically this is what USPS looked like they would have an old castle type front facade they would have a 40-foot wall that you can see right here going around the whole entire prison in more recent times some of the newer u.s. piece look more like an FC I the difference is that they will have the guard towers but they do have fences now they're not building them with the 40-foot walls anymore now the difference when you step it up to the USP they're gonna break that ten minute move down into two five minute moves which I guys I've told you in one of my other videos and my FCI they eventually took us to the 5-minute moves one each way because of the big riot we had but in most of the us piece they've been implementing that you still wear the khakis you still have the two-man sale and things will be a whole lot more dangerous and political at your us piece whereas at an FC I you can slide with the race thing a little bit at the USP is going to be way more stringent you're going to sell it with your own race eat with your own race workout with your own race that's just going to happen because you've got more of your high up guys in these racial gangs and these cars and they're going to be a whole lot more hell-bent on keeping it the way that they've been doing it for years and years and years now remember that I said that USP is the highest custody that you can go for general population but there is one other place and there is only one of these in the entire United States that is excuse me above a USP and that is going to be a DX underground which is in Florence Colorado as you can see from the picture this prison is a complex I'm going to get into what a complex is here at the end of this video but just know that this particular yard out of all these yards in this picture is underground if you were to zoom in on this from Google Maps you will see that everything is enclosed and all of the outside has cages and tops on it now they call this underground just because it's kind of built off the side of a mountain a little bit I know you can't tell from the picture but they are high up in elevation there a lot of these guys at this place they're there for extreme disciplinary reasons or they have very very high-profile cases you have people at the ADX underground like Larry Hoover one of the originators of the gd's you've got the guys who did the World Trade Center bombings is there Ted Kaczynski is there the Unabomber there are many many famous cases El Chapo recently was sent to ADX underground this is the supermax prison is what they call it Supermax Florence Colorado this is the worst of the worst these are the most high-profile inmates these are the cases that they can't put on other yards because it would cause chaos or they would get hit whatever it may be this is where they and a lot of these guys depending on their cases and their history they don't have any human contact now nobody actually really knows how it goes there I have heard that there are some people that are out here on the streets that have been at the Supermax ADX underground but I don't know if any of them have been on no human contact I can't really say from my understanding that no human contact thing is for these guys who's got these sentences and they're never going to come home but I have heard that sometimes you can get your mail either on a TV screen or it comes to you I don't know a conveyor belt something like that who knows the very well kept secret not too many people know how it works in there and guys if you know of anyone or you have any contact or I've heard of anybody that has ever been to a DX hit me up in the comments and let me know about that earlier I mentioned a complex and I'm going to break that down what it means the way that the FBO P is a lot of times you'll have just a standalone prison it'll just be a prison by itself and it'll be whatever it is a penitentiary or an FCI whatever but then sometimes you'll have what they call satellite prisons it's just like what a satellite really is it hovers around a bigger thing so a satellite prison is like where I was at FCI Estill you had the big main prison which was the FCI that I was at and then you have what they call a satellite camp there was a very low security camp right next to it a complex is going to be all of the custody levels combined for the most part I'm sure there are some exceptions where they might have only three of the levels but as you could see at Florence Colorado they had everything they had a camp they had a low they had a penitentiary FCI and ATX so a complex is just that it is a big complex of prisons and it covers all the bases all in one spot so there you have it ladies and gentlemen that is the way that the custody levels in the Bo P work it's not like in the state of Georgia where you have open security close security it's not like in South Carolina where you've got level 1 2 & 3 it's not like California where it goes all the way up to level 5 and all those things those are pretty common terms that everybody has heard but it does not work that way in the Federal Bureau of Prisons I hope you guys really enjoyed this content and there will be more coming soon until next time [Music]
