Fatima: Heaven's Peace Plan Ep. 01

at the edge of Europe stands Portugal a tiny bastion of Christendom whose devotion to the faith has withstood centuries of religious and political turmoil with the dawn of the 20th century this faithful daughter of the church finds herself overrun by atheistic socialists in a continent gripped by the evil of World War 1 into this maelstrom of despair the Blessed Mother brings heavens message of hope to three Shepherd children in the village of Fatima a worldwide vision of peace that is as powerful today as it was then it's been said when the Blessed Mother appears two people she always seems to pick places that are very much out of the way but she always chooses to appear to people who are very simple in heart the little ones they were like all children hiding or joking right always playing together when a little child of the 79 and 10 becomes so holy that's a great miracle for me it's miss impressed this heart started to burn with love for Jesus as never before I'm father Andrew Apostoli welcome to our series entitled Fatima heavens peace plane it is true the Blessed Mother often goes to very out-of-the-way places and I'm at one of those places right now a little village called a gist rel in an area of Portugal called Fatima Portugal is a country that is about the size of the state of Indiana and it's bounded on the north and the east by Spain and on the west and the south by the Atlantic Ocean it was famous for many explorers coming forth from the from the ports like Lisbon and Porto to navigate the world but it was into this country that Christianity came in the first century it said that st. James the Apostle actually evangelize this area so the faith was here from the very first Christian century about the eighth century the Moors invaded this land and basically conquered it there were Christians living here and there but the Moors controlled the country in the 11th century however the Christians rose up and drove the Moors out of their country and re-established Portugal once again as a Catholic nation it was around that time that a very wealthy land owner on the section of land in this area he after the Moors were driven out there was a Moorish princess who converted to the Catholic faith and this man a wealthy man married her and she took the Christian name of Orianna which meant the golden one and this man because the own so much property named a part of the land the own district after her called om which played into the story of the children at Fatima his wife Oriana was only to live for one morning one year after their marriage and when she died he wanted to name the rest of the land he owned after her but he used her Moorish name which was Fatima Fatima was the daughter of Muhammad and this Moorish princess had had that name and so this area became known as Fatima and in this area is this little village that and I'm presently in called magistral and this village is very important because it was in this village that the three young children shepherds were raised their families were here there were good Christian families and indeed piety and you could see the foundation of God's love in these children children Lucia whose house is right behind me the other two children Francisco and Jacinta they came from a village that had about 20 homes in it at the time that our Blessed lady appeared it was a very poor village they record material things but they were rich in the things of the Spirit and from this little village went out a message that was meant to bring peace to the whole world and to a the salvation of many many souls that's the story that we're going to hear the story of Fatima yes lungful of Assisi they would go through the trapdoor when the family was gone and hide above us they were there and we didn't know it the three would hide for hours always playing running jumping hiding under the stairs yes they were like all children hiding joking right always playing together message of Our Lady was a message for the entire world already came at the at the middle of the First World War she has spoken about the peace after that that war and then at the third apparition in July 1917 she has spoken about the ANU a new war which would come this message of Fatima spread very very quickly to the entire world Jacinta Marta was the youngest of the Mario children there were nine of them and she was born in this house here she was also the youngest of the three visionaries that our Lady appeared to at Fatima the Cova diaria she certainly was a very unique child she had many wonderful qualities she was a very sensitive little girl she was only six years old when the apparitions occurred she died at the age of nine but in one sense Lucia said of her that she probably understood the message that our lady gave to the children more than Lucia and Francisco in fact Lucia said that our lady had given to Jacinta many great graces and I among them would be the grace of a kind of understanding a whiz about what our lady was asking of the joke as a little child she was very vivacious used to like the dance and sing she she was very stubborn kind of like Saint Torres is a little child a very determined person you can see that in some of the photographs of her she had that look in her eye and someone ready to take on the world and she had a certain innocence about her serious but friendly gentle in her ways kind to people but she had a great spirit of generosity maybe that's why our lady she was chosen by our lady to be one of the three children that our Lady appeared to there are two outstanding qualities in jacinta's life one of them was a great love of the Blessed Sacrament we know that she received Holy Communion during the apparition of the angel nearby cabeza which is not too far from here from the family home where the children were grazing sheep and the angel appeared to them in his third apparition and gave to Jacinta and Francisco the Holy Eucharist drinking from the chalice the precious blood of Jesus they had not yet received their first Holy Communion but young Jacinta had a great desire receive Holy Communion and when Lucia who had already received her First Holy Communion would come home from Mass Jacinta would say to her did you receive Jesus in Holy Communion today and Lucia would say yes he says well come close to me because I know Jesus is in you and I want to feel jesus presence she had an understanding of the presence of the lord from god's grace in her but she longed to receive the Blessed Sacrament and when she was sick toward the end of her life and she was in a hospital in Lisbon she used to go and pray before the bus at sacrament 4 long periods of time as long as they would let her long as her sickness permitted it she also did not like when people were irreverent in the chapel she would tell the Mother Superior but those who were maybe acting in an irreverent way in the chapel she wanted to show this great love and respect for Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament the second great quality that stands out in Jacinta was her generosity to make reparation for the sins that offend God to defend our Blessed lady she also wanted to win souls for Christ remember when she had seen the vision of hell during the third operation of Our Lady of the Cova afterwards that have vision impressed her so much she would say to Lucia especially when it came time for her to die she know she was going to heaven very soon a lady had said that in one of her apparitions and she would take Jacinta and Francisco soon to heaven but she would tell Lucia was mission it would be to remain on earth for some time she would say tell the people about Hell because I don't want anyone to go there so she would accept many sacrifices and make everything a little sacrifice sacrificing they would sacrifice their lunch and they would eat the some of the horns that were very bitter and they did that as a little sacrifice and everything Jacinta could do she offered as a sacrifice to the Lord and she accepted the sufferings that God gave her our Blessed later lady later on gave her a kind of choice so to speak to come soon to heaven or to remain on earth to offer prayers and sacrifices and suffering for the conversion of souls and Jacinta chose to remain on earth you know so that she might be able to offer her prayers and sack faces that many more Souls would they say something like st. Paul who said he was drawn to be with Christ he said but for the sake of the disciples that he had he was willing to remain on earth and work for their salvation so Jacinta had a great heart a young girl it's amazing how profound is the the holiness the degree of holiness that she had achieved in such a young life when you think of it that she was only nine years old when she died that she had already reached a heroic degree of love that self-giving love st. Torres would say that the the food of real love is sacrifice and that characterized the life of Jacinta and we I had the privilege of being at the beatification of Jacinta and Pope John Paul the second came to the Cova the urea and who claimed Jacinta with her brother Francisco to be among the blessing a recognition of the marvelous holiness that God had given them and the holiness that they were taught through the message of Our Lady at Fatima after the third angel apparition this is what changed Francisco's life the angel gave the children their first communion and Francisco said he didn't know what happened to him but somehow he felt that God was inside him and that his heart started to burn with love for Jesus as never before Lucia had to go to school and Francisco told Lucia you go to school I'm going to church and when he went to church he would go up to the tabernacle and wrap his arms around the tabernacle hugging Jesus and consoling him for those who did not love him Francisco would remain in church all day long until Lucia came to get him after school when Our Lady appeared she held out her hands Jacinta and Francisco was shown in the light going to heaven she revealed that their mission was heaven and she was coming soon to take them there Lucia saw themselves in the light shining on earth and our lady said she was to remain on earth to spread this message to the world Lucia is still alive she's 95 years old now and a sister in Coimbra Portugal Jacinta and Francisco died three years after our Lady appeared and when they do after their death they are now blessed the second step to become canonized saints the Spanish Influenza was sweeping Europe and this is the cause of Jacinta and Francisco death Francisco act before he died Our Lady appeared to him in this room and she told him that his death was near before he died he was actually longing to receive Jesus in Holy Communion and the priest came him and brought him Jesus and he told Lucia and Jacinta he said when I get to heaven I'm going to spend all eternity consoling God and on April 4th Francisco died sister Lucia was baptized at her baptism the custom in Portugal is to name the child after their godmother and her name should have been Maria Rosa but at the baptism the Godfather when he walked into the church he said her name will be Lucia and that's how sister Lucia received her name was from her Godfather and the sacraments prepared sister Lucia for her bath for her mission it was in this church that sister Lucia received her first communion and her first confession and receive special mystical graces it was in st. anthony's parish church that sister lucia received the sacrament of baptism first confession and communion and it was during her first confession and first communion that she receives special mystical gifts to prepare her for the apparitions of Fatima and her mission in the world sister Lucia after the apparitions began she suffered greatly because many people would come to this home here at Fatima and their destroy the crops because they wanted to speak to the children her mother doubted her many times because she did not believe that Luis Lucia was actually having visions from Our Lady and this was one of Lucille's greatest sufferings was the family and the mother's doubts and sister Lucia saw this as an opportunity to offer this sacrifice for the conversion of sinners after Lucia had the apparitions she had to leave her home here at Fatima which was a great suffering she learned how to read and write and enter the Dorothy in convent and after she entered the convent for several years she had a longing desire to become a Carmelite sister and she entered the cloister in Coimbra Portugal people of this area were mostly peasants you can see their farms or many farms still here in each little farm has a garden and they raised the crops that they needed there are many olive trees in the area at the same time many of these families were shepherds and the families of the Marco family - Lucinda and Francisco belonged and the the Costa family that was the family of Lucia they were shepherds and they had sheep and usually it was the little children whose task it was to take care of raising sheep we should also mention that Portugal was involved in World War one I was the war that was called the war to end all wars any unsold when Portugal were fighting lives were being lost homes were being destroyed families torn apart people were yearning for peace and it was then that our Blessed Mother came from heaven with her peace plan on May 13 1917 the world was engulfed and First World War Oh Benedict Athene's had begun an event asking the Lord for peace on the eighth day of the novena our Blessed lady made her first appearance here I've had a month to bring the peace plan from heaven so ironic because that day was also it is celebrated as the feast of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament and so it brings together the elements that we see in the message of Fatima the oceans of Eucharist love of our the Prayer penance to end or bring about the conversion of sins the truth the three young visionaries Lucia Cisco Jacinda are watching the sheep in this area this the cultivate year evening the valley in peace and as they were watching the Sheep it seemed to them as there was a strength of lightning some flash of light they thought it was lightning it occurred again and Lucia told her younger cousins in events that we go home and take the sheep with us bring them back it's going to rain all of a sudden over top an old tree which was right at the place I mentioned in his vents where the Blessed Mother appeared for the statute was now listen mother appeared over that old tree and the children were at first frightened but she was very very beautiful are they beholden don't be afraid I'm not here to harm you then Lucia said to are they worried from and she said I'm from heaven that was he a same well what he wanted us and I said mother told Lucia the other children she wanted them to come successive months on the 13th of each month come this very place where she was appearing and that at the end of those six tons she would tell them what she wanted of them then Lucy asked a very interesting question she said to our Blessed lady are we going to go to heaven and our lady said to the CA yes you will go I just said they will go but Francisco must say a lot of rosaries important as a heaven and they happen to ask our Our Lady about two of their friends who had died in the village recently one was a young girl a Maria was 16 yes she heaven and our lady said yes she's in heaven no writing then another girl a video was about 18 to 20 years old and when I see I asked about her our lady says she will be in purgatory until the end of the world then our lady put an important question to this do you wish to offer of all the sacrifices and sufferings that God wants to send you reparation % for the conversion of sinners and those Ziya hands of guests we are we're ready to accept them we will do everything we can and then I lady said let's go because you will have much to suffer but God's grace will consult you and then as our lady was speaking to them she opened her hand and an intense light came from those hands which seemed to penetrate right into the souls of these young visionaries so that they could almost read their hearts and all of a sudden by a kind of interior impulse in their hearts they expressed a beautiful prayer almost Holy Trinity I endure you by God by God I love you in the Most Blessed Sacrament and with that our lady few moments later Center them praying the rosary every day to obtain east in the world and the end of the war something by the way requesting the rosary was something our lady asked and every one of her apparitions after saying that our lady gently ascended back to heaven so this is a very holy place place where the mother of God came to bring the world a message a message of peace not only peace as the absence of conflict but peace as the the atmosphere in which we must live at peace with God by turning our hearts to him and true conversion by putting cinema way something our lady would insist the apparitions my son do not offend my son any longer it's been already so grievously offended the peace that we have with God and the peace that we have with one another peace in our our hearts because we have a good conscience peace and our families dealing with our relatives and friends peace in our place of work places school wherever it may be that we encounter brothers and sisters Christ we are called spread that so today as we pray this mass let us pray for them peace that make it reality in the world make it a reality in our own lives personally our relationship with the Lord and in our love for one another Jesus gave us that break then he said this is my commandment that you love one another as I have loved you we see how much Jesus loved this we time to look at the cross we see that Jesus gave himself completely and loving service to the Father by doing the Father's will by making himself a victim for our sins reparation for them and then love to us because not only the father's brute but he took our place he took our sufferings upon himself that we might not after endure being lost from God because of sin so let us pray for that peace become a reality praying fittingly to the Blessed Mother who is our name of the holiness by Jesus and His Holy Mother
