dragcon 1980 Something the 80s is definitely a reference there was great music there was great movies there was great television there were great uh stars of the time the fashion was experimental groundbreaking confusing now considered tacky but all of a sudden nostalgic speaking of Dron you can pick one of these up that's what I get for trying to do with my left hand you're G at all you did that I did it with my my left hand and I am a right-handed so you can pick one of these up up at Dragon La also available at the world of Wonder online store so as two who lived in the80s we are definitely going to keep our eyes peeled for things that are referential but also things that just look great are done well but don't look like some hokey costume do it right category is Flashback drag conon 1980 first contestant done okay the 80s is definitely when punk really thrived and I think that's where she is leaning into she's definitely Punk is it accurate to the time probably not this is probably more '90s to me but what does she know that's enough 80s for her she's like punk mohawk bright colors safety pins and I love that bright pop of blue that blue like kind of leotard thing she's wearing the she has a silhouette and it's those pants that hang down around her thighs and have like a little bit of a strap she's doing her best at emulating the80s and it's definitely within her style there's a lot here that I love mhm I do think it's one of those things where you kind of go o and something like the shoe where you're like girl nobody wore shoes like that in the'80s you were looking for like style and and conceptualizing something and doing something that's interpretive of that time if she did an actual what a drag queen look like in the 80s we'd be like oh my God where why didn't she block her eyebrows why does she have blue garage doors and a smudged pink lip what I love most about Don I love how there's stuff on top of stuff on top of stuff and you dissect it you're like o wow I love Don and I love her style and I think that she's hit all the marks and I think she looks cool I'm I'm pretty damn sure that someone in the80s would look like this it's a toot it's a toot up next we have Maya Iman leage she looks really really pretty she does look pretty I don't know if it's the'80s anywhere no drag queen in the 80s wore this no one in the'80s wore this or the '90s my favorite thing about this is the Velvet little Loosey heeled shoe that's very 8s you can tell it's supposed to be kind of like Patty Lael well she should have done Patty Lael hair you know that like fan hair then I would understand it but this could be anytime this could be like today none of this say 80s to me does she look amazing yes but I think using eras as themes and genres you should evoke that when somebody says specifically that the theme is 80s bring us some 80s especially 80s this is far too timeless it could even be the 70s I was thinking it looks kind of disco disco and she got it mixed up disco is not there are things about the fit of that bodysuit the bagginess around the ankles the bagginess around the knee the way it gathers in the crotch it's like the best thing about it is that train none of those little details bother me in fact that's probably what makes it most 8s I don't know like a little bagginess to it you know what I'm saying the color is beautiful she's painted lovely but what was the assignment Dron 1980s 1980s you know what was really big in the'80s workout if she would have lost the train put slap some leg warmers on that and maybe a headband uhhuh better uh-huh it is not what was asked for at all I'm going to boot this it's a boot next we bring to the stage morphine love Dion uh-uh no it's off that is a a cute outfit but that's like 2023 you know it's not 80s no it's not 8s inspired the hair is far no what would have made that 80s is if she had a ruffled sock with the high heels no no no no I'm not I'm not down for this who do you think of the first the first time you see something with cutouts on the butt what's the first thing you think of I think of prince prince yeah not necessarily a reference from the80s maybe a little bit Dolly Parton M you know what would have been better is if this was all one piece and it had a zipper that went from the right thigh up to the left breast I want to remind people that I get it you didn't live during that time we didn't live during the 50s and we know how to pull a 1950s look together it does not matter if you didn't live during that time there's no excuse I'm a boo this it's a boot next we bring to the stage nymphia wind this is really cool this is what I'm talking about thank you nyia win for coming back into the game after that banana a fiasco just kidding I love your banana this is a beautiful homage this is a reference to Grace Jones in Vamp where she's a vampire who also is a stripper in the film she is painted by the one and only the most important 80s and 9s graffiti artists keep hairing this kid gets it it's a really beautiful outfit too yeah this likes to wear makes her hobble like she might fall yeah yeah and we knew what it was it's a too it's a two next to the stage Plain Jane kind of '90s to me you know what I'm saying yeah I do see '90s some people don't know the difference you know no they do kind of meld together a little bit but no I'm into it I like it it it's the ladies uhhuh I don't care for the black you don't like that I I the black pieces I wish they weren't in the pants I like them in the jacket I wouldn't like them in the pants I think it should just be a black pant actually or a pink pink pant with like a blue heel you know what I mean I feel like the matching like head to toe is not very 80s the'80s was really there was a lot of separates happening it is a cool look and it is an interpretation she looks magnificent in it I get the 8S Vibe it's a two it's a two next we bring to the stage Q again we're seeing this Keith Herring Motif which I think is really very important and very cool and I'm glad to see that the girls appreciating it I love that it's kind of like a very Designing Women Delta Burke type of a thing the hair the cut of this and she also if you notice her collar and the dress is a giant red Rhythm I'm glad that she paid homage to a very very important thing that was happening in the in the 80s which was the the AIDS epidemic she reveals that she is living with HIV and this is something that she wanted to wear to represent what's going on I love polka dot DS know I love me a sensible red leather pump and the little gloves you know what gags me to the shoulder pads the shoulder pad is a very very 80s concept I also love real deep red blush that's just here all the way up into the hairline cuz that was the look yeah I wish the hair were a little different like the only thing I would change was take a take away that lacquer quality to it because the 80s had a lot more texture and yeah and height it would be a very rare moment to see someone wear their hair like this in the'80s I give this look a toot toot next we bring to the stage safira Crystal she looks Brad that long bodice that was very very popular with just you know a little skirt or maybe a full skirt and the exaggerated buttons very Patrick Kelly I love the silhou wet I feel like that's what like the women wore to the Oscars when we were kids or you would find that dress at like the mall the fabric is beautiful the amount of volume in the skirt she looks like she stepped right out of the How Will I Know music video totally very 80s I love it and I give Sapphira a toot toot Trend alert Keith hering yes Keith ing yes graffiti yes New York City in the80s yes groundbreaking radical Rad
