False Memories: Yuji Itadori's Domain Expansion | Jujutsu Kaisen

the main expansion has been quite the captivating concept ever since it's been introduced into the story jujutsu tyson an ability which creates an area of space to construct a three-dimensional enclosed space or pocket dimension covering a sorcerer's immediate surroundings over time it's given me a similar feeling to what i've experienced from other series and the use of their own power system that correlate with what's been present in kaisen examples like bonkaise and bleach or even stands in jojo's bizarre adventure that can affect the area you're in which can turn the tables in your favor during a fight and with the main expansion so far we've only seen a few characters showcasing throughout the story one person in particular who is the prime focus of this video has something within him that could be far different than anything else we've seen before that individual is none other than yuji itodori our main protagonist who showcased it on a couple of occasions but the potential it possesses could be the difference maker between life or death so let's talk about why false memories could be yuzu todori's true domain expansion and the importance of this ability that could answer some questions about him in the long term let's go [Music] during the kyoto goodwill event we wouldn't as usually unconsciously use a technique on aoetoto that at the time we all thought was one of sakuna's abilities yuji was able to create false memories in the form of an illusion within toto's mind that made it seem like the two of them have been good friends for a long time this forced toto to change his stance with yuji from an enemy to exterminate the call of his superiors to befriending him and offering to help him in his development as a sorcerer at the time we didn't know exactly what this was and some of us even believed that it was nothing more than a gag but in reality it was far from a joke we even learned from yuji himself that he can't even recall doing what he did to toto which suggests that this is possibly a laden ability unknown to him it wasn't until many arcs later in the shibuya incident arc where it was used again during yushi's fight with cho so he took a pretty severe beating at the hands of the cursed womb and just before chozo was about to finish him yushi's ability activated causing chozo to see a vision of him and his brothers sitting at a table along with yuji like they were a family the outcome for cho so falling victim to this technique took a different turn for him compared to toto instead of going with the flow he was filled with fear and departed the area in a frenzy from what transpired now why am i of the belief that this false memory's ability could be the incomplete or broken status of yuji's domain expansion let's focus on some of the aspects we learned in a couple of times that we've seen usually utilize this technique the first of which is the most important is that sukuna is unaware of this power that is within yuji normally in a scenario where we see something like this being used most if not all signs would point at being towards sakuna given the plethora of abilities that he possesses in his arsenal as well as the fact that yuji's use of curse techniques comes from him tapping into the cursed energy supply by possessing sukuna however the reaction that he gave during the shibuya incident arc in the fight with choso tells us that he himself is unsure of what this ability is or where it came from if this power is something that has been present with yuji since long before he consumed a part of the king of curses the key to that might have been given to us had usually listened to what his grandfather had to say in the first chapter of the manga as we remember from chapter one yushi's grandfather was ready to discuss with yuji about his parents to which his grandson had declined as he had no interest in the topic now while this does tell us that yuji doesn't care to know anything pertaining about his parents bar and we learn more about his background upbringing and the reason for his disinterest in the topic the chances of his family being involved with sorcery and curses is a possibility from what we learned so far in the series with regards to sorcerers it is said that many of them had detached themselves from normal life making it difficult for them to have any sympathy for others which in turn makes themselves miserable this is especially prevalent when it comes to great juju sorcerer clans where traditional values are more emphasized than a normal family dynamic and the person that comes to mind with regards to this was toshi fushiguro we knew that he was affiliated with the zenin clan but defected later on for unknown reasons he wasn't the perfect father but he did what he had to to ensure his child could have a better life although that part wasn't learned about him until long after he had passed on in the case for yuji it might be the opposite he barely remembers his parents faces which indicate that he knows close to nothing about them as they might have left his side when he was a little kid his grandfather who more than likely knows the truth about them was ready to tell yuji about his parents as his way of preventing his grandson from being alone knowing that he still has family left in the world any reasoning for why yuji's parents aren't involved in his life could have a connection to sorcery and curses and should that be the case it's possible that such laying abilities lie within him long before sukuna his physical strength is already something that should be a dead giveaway for being incredibly unnormal via defeats that we've seen from him early on in the series to which he could have gained from two scenarios having actually put the time and effort into becoming the superhuman freak that we know him as or something that generally runs in his family's lineage while gozo stated back in chapter 12 they usually couldn't use jiujitsu at the time we know that gojo isn't a fortune teller and having only known yuzi for a brief moment up to that point it's entirely certain that he wasn't able to perceive yuzhi's full capabilities only garnering what was present in the moment should yuji's parents be involved in the world of sorcery the chance is this potential curse technique or domain expansion being something affiliated with them could be a dormant power seal within yuji to prevent it from ever being used especially since as of the current arc of the story usually doesn't have full control over it so if a scenario were to occur where it was used on a wider scale say on a group of individuals or the citizens of a town it could turn catastrophic and lead to a dangerous turn if it falls towards manipulating people's minds into becoming his ally or to harm them mentally as we saw with megami when he summoned maharaga during the shibuya arc and the severity of using such an ability this technique of yuji's is quite dangerous for any opposition that falls victim to its power to rewrite someone's memories into something completely different than what they've experienced is quite haunting while what happened to toto was not malicious and intense the way that it was used on cho so caused great concern for him having realized in the moment that his mind was being tampered with and to counter such an ability is nearly null and void given that based on what has been perceived it would require you to cut off all six senses or your train of thought to prevent yourself from falling victim to this attack so unless you were to possess a domain expansion that is greater than false memories the chances of you coming out unscathed from it are nearly zero luckily for now this technique is more than likely an incomplete or broken status but should it be fine-tuned and enhanced over time it just might turn into the most overpowered ability in the series so based on what we know of it already false memories fits the requirements of a domain expansion as it's taking place within a surrounding between at least two individuals involved during its use instead of manipulating the area around them false memories goes a step further by altering reality within one's mind which in some capacity bears a striking similarity to gojo's unlimited void which dabbles with infinity despite yushi so far showing no awareness of using this technique it could become problematic for his opponents once he learns of it the steps to learning that are to be determined but if usually were to enhance himself as a sorcerer by unlocking the secret behind his ability into his arsenal not only will his promotion to great one source or be further solidified but he could grow beyond that rank if he were to master it as the potential of this ability could put him there among the likes of the special great sorcerers such as gojo tsukumo ghetto and akotsu so our hope for now is at some point later in the series yuzu will have a better grasp by controlling this power through extensive training to prevent it from being used for evil especially with having sukuna with them and if he finds a way to make use of this power it will be beyond usual's control to stop him if his body is taking over along with it and before we wrap it up i want to go back to the topic regarding yuji's family having any connection to the false memory's ability i've seen this idea floating around the community that i found intriguing enough to be a possible scenario that his grandfather may have been the reason why he has this power long story short yuji's grandfather had unintentionally cursed his grandson just before he passed on as he wanted yuzu to be surrounded by others when it was his time to go but more importantly to help others in need when the time comes as we know with the importance of that statement from chapter 1 this is a crucial element about yuji's character revolving his goals and motives so for him to learn that this power or curse he has is something his grandfather put on him thinking it was meant to be his way of saying to usually to look at life with meaning rather than wasting it away that would be quite the tragedy to learn to find out that the person who usually viewed as his true father had placed a curse on him by accident that would bring harm to not only to his grandson but to the people that yuji is trying to serve and protect could leave him traumatized and given what transpired before he could suffer a mental breakdown beyond what we saw within the ruins of shibuya caused by sukuna or when it seemed that nobar had been killed in the fight against mojito it's something that would not be cured within a day and would require him to do some serious soul searching to figure out how to handle this curse for better or worse right now as plausible as a scenario any of these possibilities could be the jury is still out on what exactly the origins of false memories comes from although from what we've learned of it thus far the potential it possesses ranges from many things from causing a catastrophe on the level of sukuna's danger to the world or maybe something that brings an end to the age of curses but i'm curious to know down in the comments below what do you guys think about this whole thing in
